“Oh my god, Caleb!”

Miranda clasped his hair and lifted her hips as he worked her aroused and aching flesh expertly with his mouth. Caleb licked and tormented, taking turns teasing her clit and lapping at her entrance. Her back arched when he inserted two fingers into her dripping sheath, tormenting her flesh almost to the point of pain.

“Please, Caleb, Please!” Miranda

screamed as Caleb flicked her clit with his tongue. His fingers plunged in and out of her flesh, sending her careening of the edge.

Caleb climbed up her body and placed a gentle kiss on her lips, and Miranda sighed at the feeling of completeness that came over her at that moment.

“I’m sorry, but this is probably going to be a fast and furious ride. I need you too much to hold back,” Caleb said as he aligned his cock and lodged himself just inside. Miranda nodded, feeling as loose as cooked spaghetti noodles.

Caleb slammed inside, his balls slapping her buttocks as he bottomed out inside of her. Miranda’s breath whooshed out of her, and Caleb stilled as if sensing the slight discomfort of being filled so quickly.

Caleb was the largest male she’d ever been with, touching places inside of her she hadn’t realized were being neglected.

Caleb teased Miranda’s neck with small bites then soothed them with his tongue.

The slight burn from his hasty invasion faded into a much different burn, one that begged for his cock to be dragged across all of her flesh. She wiggled her hips, and he groaned, as if it was the sign he was waiting, for he began moving in and out of her willing flesh.

Miranda wrapped her legs around

Caleb’s waist as he began to piston in and out of her, each thrust of his cock bumping against her womb. Her orgasm built rapidly, and it surprised her when she fell over the ledge, calling out his name as her vaginal muscles contracted and released around his thrusting cock. Moments later Caleb thrust and held, his own orgasm overcoming him as his seed bathed her vaginal walls and his voice echoed in the room as he called out her name.

Caleb kissed her gently as he withdrew, falling to the side, his breaths coming in pants. She let him pull her to his chest and capture her mouth in a searing kiss.

Miranda settled her head on his chest and sighed in contentment.

“I’m sorry.”

Caleb’s voice sounded muffled with her ear pressed against his chest. Miranda eased herself fully on top of Caleb, folding her hands on his chest and resting her chin on top of her hands she looked up at Caleb, confused by his apology.

“For what?”

“Being so rough, for not making love to you like you deserve.” M

Miranda giggled, her laughter echoing in the room, and she could only laugh harder at the look of confusion that crossed Caleb’s features. Miranda straddled Caleb, delighted at the already hardened state of his shaft.

“I don’t think you have anything to be sorry for,” she said as she moved her wet mound back and forth across his shaft. “I think you know how much I enjoyed it.”

Miranda raised herself slightly and aligned their bodies before impaling herself on his cock. Leaning forward to brace herself, she began to move. Caleb’s golden brown eyes closed shortly, and he bit his lip, his canines lengthening, letting her know he was close to the edge.

His hands came up to cup her breasts, his thumbs teasing the distended peaks.

He lifted his head and sucked on her engorged nipples, alternating between the two and sending pleasurable sparks

straight to the apex of her thighs. She couldn’t resist the urge and trailed her hand down to circle her clit as she moved herself on his shaft. Miranda’s rhythm faltered, and Caleb was there, his hands guiding her hips as her fingers circled her clit. Then she was soaring over the cliff headlong into another blissful orgasm.

Miranda collapsed on Caleb’s chest, her eyes becoming heavy as sleep beckoned her. Her last lucid thought was awe of his purr.

Chapter 7

Caleb couldn’t believe his fortune as his dream turned erotic. Miranda placed kisses on his jaw, nibbling on his earlobe, before smoothing her hands across his chest. She nibbled her way down his jaw to his chest, her tongue coming out to soothe the small stings of her harder bites. His semi-hard shaft filled to full mast as her delectable body moved

against his, the smell of their combined scents filling the room and mixing with the tantalizing fragrance of her current arousal.

Miranda’s nails scratched lightly over his thighs as her mouth painted over his abdomen. His smiled, his dream leading to her hot mouth enveloping his shaft.

Miranda’s warm breath bathed his cock, causing it to jump. Her little hand grasped his cock at the base, and then her mouth was there, sending pleasure zinging throughout his body.

Caleb reached down to stroke his cock in tandem with his dream, his eyes flying open in shock when he came in contact with Miranda’s hair.

“Miranda?”

Miranda took one last foray before

releasing his engorged shaft with a pop and peering up at him with those big beautiful brown eyes. “Yes?”

Caleb fisted his hands in her hair. “Oh god, baby, please don’t stop!”

Miranda giggled and allowed him to

push her head back down to his shaft.

Miranda took him back into the haven of her mouth, her tongue moving against the underside of his cock as she applied suction, her cheeks hollowing on the upward slide.

Caleb tried to stay still, but her wicked mouth had him thrusting his hips before he realized what he was doing. She took him deeper, her tongue swirling and teasing.

The tingle at the base of his spine signaled his impending release, and he tugged at her hair gently.

“Stop, sweetheart, you’re gonna make me come,” he managed to groan out.

Miranda braced her hands on either side of his hips and caused him to shout as she took all of him into her mouth, her head bobbing quickly up and down and her suction increasing. Then he was coming, his seed spurting into her mouth, her throat working quickly to swallow.

When Caleb came back to earth,

Miranda was perched on her elbow

watching him. She smiled before kissing his cheek.

“Good morning.”

Caleb rolled, pinning her under him and capturing her lips, delving his tongue within her recesses. He couldn’t wait to claim her, wanted her with every fiber of his being, and the thought of a life without her nearly brought him to his knees. Caleb Anderson loved this woman, this bright and funny schoolteacher who was his mate. He loved her not because she gave him the best blowjob ever, but because of who she was, inside and out. She was his.

Caleb broke the kiss, intent on telling her how much he loved her and begging her to become his mate when a knock sounded at the door. Hoping whoever it was would go away when he didn’t answer, he began to nibble at Miranda’s neck.

“Alpha! Answer the door. It’s

important!” Caleb cursed, rolled out of bed, and pulled on his jeans.

He looked back to find Miranda sitting wide-eyed in the middle of the bed.

“I’ll be right back.”

Caleb opened the door to Zackary

Phillips and a panicking Essence Jacobs.

“What is it?” Caleb’s questions

immediately sent Essence into tears as her brother, Zackary, attempted to explain.

“When Essence woke up, she went to

check on Gunner, but he wasn’t there. She looked everywhere and called everyone.

We’re sorry, Alpha, but we can’t find her little boy.”

Caleb nodded and patted Essence on the back. “We’ll find him, Essence. Zackary, gather the pride and meet back here.

We’ll split up and search.”

Zackary nodded and ran to gather the rest of the pride. Caleb led the distraught mother into his living room, surprised to see Miranda standing there in his shirt.

“Alpha?” Shit. He had never told her his status in the pride.

Caleb placed Essence on the couch and turned to Miranda. Her eyes regarding him warily once again as he crossed the room and cupped her cheek, ensuring that she looked into his eyes.

“I’ll explain later, Miranda, but right now I have to help find Essence’s child. He is only three, and she can’t find him.”

Miranda took a deep breath and nodded, the wariness never leaving her eyes.

Caleb turned back to the sobbing

Essence and went to work, his mind

divided between the lost child and

worrying about what Miranda was thinking.

***

Alpha! Miranda couldn’t believe Caleb had skipped over such an important part of his life. She could not even hold onto her anger as she watched him console the distraught mother. Miranda excused herself back to his bedroom, letting her mouse hearing take over. Times like these made her glad she was a mouse whose sense of hearing was so acute.

“Tell me what happened, Essence.”

“I put Gunner down for the night around nine last night. He was sleeping so peacefully. I checked on him again at two this morning when I got up to go to the bathroom. When I woke up and realized it was nine in the morning, I immediately went to check on him because he’s usually up at six or seven in the morning waking me up because he wants breakfast. When he wasn’t there, I thought he was playing a game. I looked everywhere, but I can’t find him.”

“We’ll find him, Essence.”

Miranda’s heart went out to the woman named Essence. She could only imagine how horrifying it would be to have a lost child. She still remembered the blistering spanking she received as a six-year-old who’d decided it would be fun to play hide and seek in the supermarket. Her mother had not found it so funny. Now older, she realized her mother had been scared, and her uncharacteristic spanking was to serve as a reminder not to hide from her.

Miranda heard the knock at the door, and she hurried, scurrying into her dress.

She entered the living room again,

astounded at all the people standing inside the room. Everyone’s attention turned to her, regarding her with a mix of wariness and curiosity. Caleb made his way over to her and took her hands, searching her eyes.

“I have to search for Gunner. Do you want me to have someone take you

home?”

Miranda smiled at his thoughtfulness.

She couldn’t leave the woman without all the help she could get. Besides, as a mouse, she could fit into places these large cats could not. Decided, she shook her head no. “I can help.”

“Not that we don’t appreciate any help we can get, but who exactly are you?” a male voice echoed. Caleb’s head shot up fast, looking for the guilty party. Miranda soothed his back when he let out a feline growl. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath.

“I’m Miranda.”

“She is my mate.” The collective intake of breath and whispers was instantly hushed when Caleb yelled, “We have a job to do!”

“I want three groups. Group A will search the woods. Group B will search each house, and I mean each house.

Group C will head into town and begin asking if anyone has seen Gunner. Since John and Amanda work at the police

station, please let them take care of the police. Now go.”

Miranda grabbed Caleb’s hand and

brought his attention back to her. “What can I do?”

“Why don’t you stay here with Essence in case Gunner comes back?”

“Why would he come back here?”

“We teach each of the children to come to the alpha first if they are lost, hurt or scared. It’s the way my dad always did it.”

Miranda nodded, understanding that he wanted her out of the mix. He wanted to protect her. How sweet, but unnecessary.

She turned to the distraught Essence and went about consoling an inconsolable person.

***

Brenna was beyond angry. How dare

that bitch take her place as Caleb’s mate?

Her well-thought plan of taking the Jacobs boy to gain Caleb’s favor was crumbling before her very eyes. Mate! She might be his mate, but even Brenna could see Caleb had yet to claim her.

There was still time to gain Caleb’s favor. Besides, if she failed to steer him away from that whore, then she would just have to take Miranda out of the picture.

Even Caleb couldn’t mate with a dead person.

***

Caleb walked in the straight line of

searchers, his cougar begging for release to find the lost pride member. Their group had spread in a straight-line arm’s length apart and moved forward in slow steps, searching for the lost boy. While their pride might not have been born from evolution like the wolves’ packs, Caleb still cared for every member of his pride.

“So, you found your mate?” Zackary said in between his yells for Gunner. “Yes.”

“Why haven’t you claimed her?” Caleb looked over at Zackary. Zackary was Essence’s younger brother, turning just eighteen this year, and would start college in a few weeks. Caleb was convinced that Zackary didn’t have a filter – that natural inclination to screen your thoughts before voicing them. No, he usually said

whatever came to mind. Caleb learned quickly not to take each of his statements in offense because it was Zackary’s natural curiosity that spurred his questioning.

Caleb sighed. “Miranda isn’t ready to tie her life to a stranger.”

“She’s pretty.” Caleb couldn’t hold back the growl. Zackary put his hands up in a gesture of “I surrender.” “I didn’t mean anything by it, just an observation.”

They walked along in amicable silence except for the occasional shouted,

“Gunner!” “You’ll understand one day, Zackary.”

Zackary nodded, and Caleb knew his

mind was working overtime, thinking of the implications of his statement.

***

Miranda brought the cup of tea back to Essence. The woman had not quit crying the entire time she’d known her. She had given up reassuring the woman an hour ago that her son would be all right.

Besides, she felt guilty telling someone something that could be untrue. Oh, Miranda hoped that the little boy was okay, but it had been two hours since Caleb had set out to search for him.

“Tell me about Gunner,” Miranda said softly as she sat beside Essence on the couch. Essence smiled through her tears as she described the little boy that had turned the pride upside down with worry.
