Chapter 10

Ava

I watched as Ayce walked out the door. The last person I expected to walk into that room was him.

“Shit!” I said out loud.  We had been kicking it for about a month now. We were not together, but I was hoping we could change that soon, and now I had fucked up yet again.

“So we going to finish or what?” Slick asked disturbing my thoughts.

I turned and looked at him wondering why I even went there with him. He ain't bad looking, he kinda puts you in mind of The Game. He is ruthless as hell and I think that’s what attracted me to him, but he is messy and he likes to keep shit going like a female. We have never had sex but his head game is the truth.

“Naw, I'm good,” I said, attempting to walk away before he grabbed my arm.

“The fuck you mean, naw. That pussy ass nigga walks in and all of a sudden you good? What, you done gave him the chocha, but I can't have none of that shit?”

“I suggest you let me go and get the fuck off of me.”

“Or what? You think you a thug because of who your daddy is, but you ain't nothing more than a rat. Now you either going to give me some pussy or I'm going to take it.”

“What the fuck you say to me?” I said trying to pull away from him.

“Oh you heard me. Now get your ass back in that room,” he said pushing me toward the room.

I stood there looking at this nigga like he had lost his mind. If I had my gun right now he would be dead.

“Why you just standing there?”

“Because I ain't fucking you. What you can do is go fuck yourself,” I said trying to go get my things to leave.

Whap

I stumbled backwards as I held my face. I couldn't believe this nigga just smacked me. He came over to me and pinned me up against the wall, while pulling up my dress. I looked at him and smirked because I refused to cry.

“So your bitch ass going to try and take it, huh? You ain't got enough game to talk up on some pussy, you got to take it,” I said laughing harder.

Whap, Whap!

He smacked me two more times and my lip started to bleed.  I spit blood in his face and he went postal. He punched me in my face and I could instantly feel it begin to swell. The next punch he threw, I was able to duck somewhat. He put his hands around my neck and squeezed as his pants fell. I could feel his dick on my thigh as I clawed at his hands.

“Yo Slick, this bag kinda short,” Ayce said walking back into the house.

Ayce's jaw clinched as soon as he saw what was going on. He reached for his heat and pointed it at Slick.

“Get the fuck off her.”

“No, you get the fuck back,” Slick said pulling out his heat and pointing it at Ayce, keeping his other hand around my neck.

“What the fuck, you captain save a hoe?”  Slick yanked me in front of him using my body as a shield.  Holding the gun to my head, he licked the side of my face. The way he went from 0 to100 had me wondering if he was getting high off his own supply.

I felt my body being pushed forward and in the next moment, bullets were flying as I fell to the floor. Almost every day you hear about somebody getting shot; never did I expect one of the stories to be about me. The room went dark and I could feel my body getting cold, as blood seeped from my body.

“Ava, baby, hold on, I am going to get you to the hospital.

***

Opening my eyes I try to sit up, but my body won't let me.

“Don't try to move baby girl,” I hear Ayce say, walking over to my bed. “You were shot in the back near your shoulder and you had to have surgery to remove the bullet, but you’re going to be ok.”

Looking around the room I could see balloons and flowers.

“How long have I been here?”

“Just two days, but the meds they had you on had you out cold.”

“What about that pussy ass nigga, Slick?”

Ayce got silent at the mention of Slick. “Slick is a non-factor, I dealt with him.”

I couldn't help but smile at the thought of that nigga being dead.

“So, how long do I have to stay here?”

“Not long, maybe another couple of days”

I was hoping that since Ayce was here there was a chance for me to get my shit together.

“Look, Ayc
e

He held up his hand before I could finish talking.

“We can talk about that later. Somebody else wants to talk to you right now,” he said about to leave my room.

“Can you get me some water before you leave?” I asked trying to keep him from leaving me.

“I got you and who said I was leaving.”

As Ayce was walked out my room, my father walked into the room. He and Ayce shook hands and Ayce continued out the door.

The look that my father gave me told me I was in for it. Shit, that's what I get for being so damn sloppy.

“I'm glad you’re up because we need to talk,” he said, sitting down in the chair next to my bed. He was silent for what seemed like hours and I wished he would just come on and get it over with.

“What were you doing at Slick's house?”

I sat like a deer in headlights. I couldn't tell my daddy that I was getting my pussy ate.

“She was with me.”

My daddy turned around and looked at Ayce.

“So what, y'all a couple now?”

“I'm working on that,” Ayce said.

My daddy squinted his eyes at Ayce. “Can I have a few minutes alone with my daughter? Then I'm going to need to holla at you.”

Ayce gave me my cup of water and walked back out the room.

“I know you've been making moves without my consent.  It was not your call to take out Rino or Pez. You have been very careless, leaving yourself exposed for niggas to come after you. Of all the niggas you can fuck around with, you always have to fuck with someone I pay. Fahim, Slick and now Ayce, oh and I know it has been others. I haven't kept my lifestyle from you because I thought you were mature enough to handle it, not because I wanted you to be a thug princess. I thought if you knew what really went on in these streets that you would want the complete opposite for yourself. I was wrong. I have handled Fahim, he will not bother you anymore. You are grown, so I can't tell you who to fuck and who not to fuck, but stop being so damn sloppy. Ayce obviously cares for you because if it wasn't for him, you would be dead.”

Tears rolled down my face because the last thing I wanted to do is disappoint my daddy.

“Cut all that crying out. What's done is done. I'll be back later to check on you.”

He gave me a kiss on the forehead and left the room, leaving me to my thoughts.

Chapter 11

Remy

I have been following Ayce since the funeral and I couldn't believe what I just witnessed. I ran back to my car with tears falling from my eyes, because I didn't know what to do. Ayce had just killed a nigga and of course, Ava was in the middle of the whole situation.

After I parked my car on the street behind the house Ayce was in, I walked through the open backyard and peeked through the window. Some nigga was holding Ava while she tried to get away from him. I couldn't see where Ayce was at first until I heard him yell “Get the fuck off her.” When I looked at him, I could see he had his gun out and aimed at the nigga that was holding Ava. When the other nigga pulled out his gun, too, I knew this was going to end badly.  Before I knew it, bullets were flying and Ava's body hit the floor. The fact that this could be the end of her had me a little excited, but when Ayce rushed Ava out the house, my heart sank. He loved her, I could see it in his eyes, but if that bitch would just die he could love me again.

I started my car and drove away as fast as I could, and I knew exactly where I was headed.

Walking into the Fourth Ward Precinct, I was nervous. I mean, what I was about to do got niggas laying six feet under, but I didn't care because if that bitch Ava ain't dead, she would certainly be doing some time.

“Excuse me, I just witnessed something I need to report to someone.”

“Something like what?” the officer behind the desk asked like I was annoying her.

“I rather not say it where everyone else can hear me.”

“Well I have to know what it was that you saw so I can get you to the right department.”

It took everything in me not to be ignorant with this female police, officer or not.

“It was a murder. Now can I please talk to someone?”

“Just have a seat over there and I will get you someone.”

I went to sit on the bench, waiting for what seemed like hours. Talking myself out of being a snitch, I stood and proceeded to walk out the building.

“Excuse me, excuse me Miss, did you need to talk to me?”

Before I could reach the door, this tall, thin white man came running after me.

“I changed my mind now,” I said with an attitude, continuing to walk towards the door.

“Miss, I apologize that you had to wait so long. I have just been very busy, but I am available now.”

I looked at the man again and decided to go through with my plan.

“I am Detective Kojak,” he said giving me his card. “If you don't mind I would like to take your statement upstairs in my office.”

I took the card from him and followed him up to his office. At the end of our conversation, he was very pleased I came to speak with him, and I was ecstatic that Ava would no longer be an issue and Ayce would be mine again.

Chapter 12

Ayce

I sat in the waiting room while Duce talked to Ava. My mind was racing a mile a minute. I wish I was able to save my mama like I was able to save Ava. The fact the muthafucka responsible for killing my mama is still breathing is messing with my head.  I got up and walked outside to try and clear my mind.

“Mind if I join you?” I heard Duce ask.

“Not at all.”

We walked for a moment in silence before he started talking.

“Thank you for being there for my daughter.”

“No thanks needed, just glad that she is ok. That nigga Slick talked a lot of shit and thought he was untouchable. He had that shit coming.”

“Yeah, you are right. He was cool at first, but something with that nigga changed.”

“I have no doubt in my mind that she would have taken him out if she could have.”

“You’re right about that. I see you like my daughter. She is a piece of work, but she’s still my daughter and I want the best for her. I know you doing this now because you have to, but don't turn it into a career.”

“Oh I'm not. I just have three more years of school and I will be done.”

“What you in school for?” Duce asked lighting a blunt.

“Studying to be a defense attorney.”

“That's good shit. I can definitely use a lawyer on my team, so whenever you done with that, holla at me. For now we’re going to make this money.  I have Ric making your rounds today, but I still wanted to give you this.”

Duce gave me an envelope and walked off.

I walked around for a little bit longer before I headed back to Ava's room. I was actually feeling a little at ease. I still wanted that nigga Joe dead like yesterday, but I felt good about where I was right now.

When I entered the room I didn't see Ava and I became a little alarmed, until she came walking out the bathroom.

Climbing into her bed, I could see all that ass through the crack of her hospital gown and my dick jumped a little.

The nurse came in and checked her vitals.

“You’re doing good hun,” the nurse said. “You'll be out of here tomorrow probably. Let me know if you need anything,” she said as she left the room.

“So Duce yo’ daddy, huh?” I asked.

“Yeah, that's my daddy.”

“No wonder you all gangsta and shit.”

“I have to be. These niggas and bitches be thinking shit sweet until I pull out my heat,” she said as she cracked up laughing.

“Yo’ ass corny as hell for that one. Don't ever aspire to be a rapper.”

We sat in silence for a moment and all you could hear was the machine beeping.

“Ava,” I said breaking the silence as I sat in the chair next to her.

“I'm feeling the fuck outta you.  I know we have been down this road before, but it's just something about you that makes me want to keep you near me. We going to be together, I already know that, but all this fucking around you doing going to have to stop.  I just ain't that nigga to sit around and do nothing while you out here fucking around. If I can be faithful to you with all the pussy being thrown at me, I'm expecting you to do the same for me. You got this hard demeanor, but I know there is a softer side because you have shown it to me. For me this street shit is just temporary, but I think you want it to be permanent for you. I know Duce wants better for you and so do I, but I won't make you choose because all I want is you. The rest we can work out later. For now I really want to see how far we can go with this.”

I looked her in her eyes because I wanted her to know what I felt was real.

“I want more than anything to be with you Ayce, but I am scared I am just going to fuck up again. My heart has always and will always belong to you, and I have loved no other nigga but you. You have so much going for yourself and I don't want to mess that up. Shit, I am Ava Emily Cummings, just another street thug with a pussy. You wouldn't even know what to do with me.”

“I know what to do with you alright. Love you and give you some of this meat.”

I got up out the chair I was sitting in and went over to Ava, placing my lips on hers.

“You know you want me and you got me in here begging like you got me whipped or something. I ain't never sweated a female like this.”

I paused and shook my head at myself because I couldn't believe this was me right now.

“All I'm asking for is a chance to see where this goes.”

Ava looked deep into my eyes, almost like she was trying to see if I was full of shit. The feelings I had for this girl had me on edge and feeling soft, but I have to follow my heart and it's with her.

I bent down to kiss her lips again, but was interrupted by a knock at the door.
