OK,
so can I ask something about you. Just to get to know you.”

Sure.”
He smiled at me, that smile of his warmed my heart.

Em...
how old are you?”

I'll
be 31 in two months.”

Oh,
you look younger.”

Thank
you.” He smiled again.

And
what type of work do you do?”

I'm
a teacher.”

Oh,
that's nice. Do you enjoy teaching?” I asked.

Yes,
a lot.”

Are
you married?” I asked then, hoping I wasn't daring too much.

No,
but I have a daughter. She's seven years old. Her name is Kylie.”

He looked at me in a strange
way, and I couldn't understand why.

Oh,
you're a father. How nice. How is she? Does she look like you?”
I asked feeling oddly jealous of the woman who had given him this
child.

Yes,
quite a lot. She lives with me,” he added.

He wasn't married, was he
divorced?Or maybe his wife was dead. I kept wondering, but I wasn't
going to ask that. Then as like he read my mind he said..

I'm
single and at the moment I'm raising my daughter.”

OK.”
I felt a little relieved.

Maybe
the next time I come, I'll bring her with me. She would love to see
you.”

Oh
really? Yes, that would be wonderful. I like children, or at least I
think I do.”

He smiled again and then
grabbed my hand. I felt that spark again, and my heart raced.

You'll
be OK. I never thought I would be here talking to you again. You made
us worry so much.”

I looked in his eyes; I
shivered as I couldn't control the way I felt. I think I must have
blushed as well. Wow, this man managed to make me feel things that I
didn't know that existed. I felt my face getting warm. He had a
strange effect on me, and I couldn't believe that he hadn't been more
than a friend to me. What type of woman had I been to manage to
resist him? I wondered.

I'm
sorry; I've been told I had an accident and that I'm very lucky to be
still alive.” I finally managed to stammer hoping I hadn't made
it so evident that I really liked him.

You
don't know how much,” he added squeezing my hand. Why was he
here? It seems that I meant a lot to him. Was he just a friend? I
would have loved to ask, but I knew he wouldn't answer.

Your
mum is helping me with Kylie,” he said then. “She's a
great baby sitter,” he continued.

Really?”
I asked. Oh then this was the connection we had. He was just a friend
who my mother helped. Now I really felt disappointed. From when I had
seen him the first time I had hoped and dreamed that he was more than
that. I didn't know why but I hoped we had some kind of romantic
story. I felt very attracted to this guy even though I just got to
know him. Was this normal?

You
know, the doctor said that if I keep getting better in two weeks time
I'll be out of hospital.”

Really?
Oh, that's great.” He said pleased.

Yeah,
David will you continue to come visiting me? I enjoyed your company.”
I admitted.

Of
course, I'll come every day if you like.”

Yes,
thank you.” I felt so happy. Maybe after all I wasn't that
unfortunate as I had thought when they had told me that I had lost my
memory completely. The first days it had been hard to accept. It had
been hard to try and think, and you have nothing to think about. No
one to think of. Now I had him. The days at the hospital will be more
bearable if I thought about his eyes and his so kissable lips. I
wondered how it would have felt to kiss him.

CHAPTER 12

That night I couldn't stop
thinking about him. I felt strangely happy, and I couldn't wait for
the next day to arrive to see him again. I didn't care to know what
he had been for me in the past, all I knew that I wanted him in my
future. That morning when mum came to visit she found me in front of
the mirror applying some make-up. She smiled.

Good
morning. You look wonderful this morning,”she said in a happy
tone. She smirked at me as she kept observing me.

Trying
to impress someone?” she giggled.

I looked at her and blushed.

Erm...
yes I think so,” I admitted.

David?”
She asked sitting on the bed.

I looked at her through the
mirror.

Mum..”
I began.

Tell
me.”

Do
you think he likes me? Yesterday  he came here, and we talked.”
I really needed someone's advice. I needed someone to talk to.

Really?”
She didn't seem surprised.

Yeah.
Am I acting weird? I mean, I just met this guy but I really like
him,”I confessed.

No
honey, that's not weird. David is a nice guy; he's handsome and have
a wonderful character. No wonder you feel this way about him.”

You
know today he's coming again and he said he would bring his daughter
with him.”

I saw something in my mum's
eyes as soon as I said that. She licked her lips nervously as she
struggled to find something to say.

Really?
You'll like her; she's a very sweet little girl,” she said as
she looked away tried to hide her emotions. When I had mentioned
David's daughter she had changed expression, her eyes had suddenly
become sad, and she was struggling not to cry.

If
she looks anything like her father, I'll adore her.”

My mum didn't say anything,
she seemed worried. Why? All this mystery was killing me.

Mum.”

Yes.”

What
happened to Kylie's mum?”

Her eyes widened and for a
moment she seemed lost. Her face had gone pale.

I
mean, how could she ever leave a man like David, I wouldn't have done
that if a had the chance.”

Honey...
I...”

At that moment the doctor
came in and told me to go with him, they wanted to do some more
tests. I was really fed up of all this and prayed it would finish
soon so that I could go back home. At that moment, it came to my mind
that I didn't know where home was. Did I live with my mum?

Angela's POV

I didn't know if I were able
to keep going like this. It was getting more difficult each day to
hide the truth. She had to know sooner or later. She couldn't
live in a lie even though she doesn't remember anything. At that
moment, I heard my mobile ringing. I picked it up and saw it was
Edward.

Hello.”

Hello
Angela, it's me Eddie. How are you?”He asked in his deep voice.

I'm
fine thank you. You?”

I'm
OK. Listen I phoned to see how Cassidy is doing. I'm sorry I couldn't
come to visit her, but I've been very busy lately. Tyler is in
rehab,” he said then.

My eyes widened... Rehab?
What was going on?

What?
Rehab for what?” I asked astonished.

He's
been drinking heavily in the past weeks. He's depressed Angela. He
keeps blaming himself for the accident, and all,”he explained.

Oh,
but how is he now?”

Well,
he's in healing process, although the beginning is never easy. But
he'll be OK.”

So
he's living in the clinic?”

Yes,
for now. And Cassidy?” He asked.

She's
OK. She'll be out next week. Listen Edward, since she doesn't
remember anything, I thought that I would keep her with me for now.
I've bought a new house here.”

Really?”
His tone surprised me, he seemed happy. “Well Angela, I think
that is the best solution for now, when Tyler is better he'll come to
see her then we'll see. Listen tonight I'll be at Tyler's house if
you want to come and take some things for Cassidy.”

Yes
that would be great Edward.” I drawled.

OK,
at what time?”

Erm..
I don't know.”

Seven
thirty? We'll have dinner together. Is that OK for you? So we can
talk about the future of our children.”

For a moment, I was left
speechless. Was this a date?

Angela?”

Erm..
yeah fine.” I said after a long pause.

OK,
see you later, have a nice day.”

I said bye and hung up. I
stared at the wall and felt extremely excited. My heart was beating
fast too. I had always found Edward attractive, he had everything I
loved in a man. He was tall, had beautiful blue eyes like Tyler's, he
was handsome and charming. He was powerful, wealthy.. what else? Oh,
Angela you're not young anymore for goodness sake! I slapped myself
mentally. And this wasn't a date, just a meeting to discuss the
future of our children. Wasn't this the way he had put it. Well
children or not, I was going to pass an evening in the company of a
handsome man and the thought of that was more than enough to keep a
smile on my face for the whole day.

David's POV

I felt nervous, maybe even
more than my daughter. She hadn't said a word from when we left home.
We were on our way to go to visit Cassidy. Kylie's was excited to see
her, but I had to explain that she couldn't call her mummy and that
for Cassidy it would be like the first time they met. I didn't know
if she had understood. She had said it was OK and that the important
thing was that her mum didn't die. I was very proud of my little
angel; life had been very hard on her from the day she was born.
Finally, we arrived, I parked my car and opened Kylie's door. She
gave me her hand and we walked straight to the lift. She was silent
and this was worrying me.

Kylie.”
I said breaking silence.

Dad
I'm fine OK.”

OK.
You remember what I told you right?”

Yes
daddy, I have to call her Cassidy and she can't know that I'm her
daughter.” She said in an annoyed tone. “You've repeated
this many times. I have understood.”

Yes
that's it.”

When the lift opened,Kylie
went out before me, she couldn't wait to see her. She ran to her room
and opened the door and turned around and looked at me with
disappointment.

What's
the matter sweetheart?”

She's
not here.”

Oh,
she must be in the dinning room, let's go there.”

I grabbed Kylie's hand and
walked with her to the dining room. My heart was beating fast, I was
anxious. I hoped everything would go well. We went in and then I saw
her. She was sitting down trying to eat some soup. She was so
beautiful today, she didn't wear her pyjamas but a lovely dress.

There
she is Dad?!” Kylie shouted. The persons that were eating
turned around and looked at us. I felt a little embarrassed but
forgot everything when her eyes locked with mine. She smiled at me,
her face had brightened, she was happy to see me. Kylie didn't wait
for me and went hurriedly to her. Cassidy looked at her and smiled.
