She laughed to herself as she crossed over the threshold that separated the reception area from the inner offices and started up the staircase. Since Summer did work with Remy and Kane, May had been given a little inside information. Summer had informed her that both men would be working today, and she had called in sick. Apparently Denver had poked holes in all their condoms, and now Summer was battling morning sickness.
When May reached the landing, she could hear the muffled sounds of Kane’s voice floating through a nearby closed door. She took a deep, shaky breath and walked toward the sound. As she got closer, she could hear Remy’s voice, as well, but couldn’t make out what he was saying.
After her release from the hospital, they had removed her things from the vacation home and into their permanent residence on the extensive Durden family property. They had been living under the same roof for two weeks, and it had been very awkward for May. She’d felt like a stranger living with them. If the house hadn’t been filled with visitors constantly coming and going, she would have gone insane.
She would never claim to be neglected by them. The pair took care of her and the baby. They still cooked dinner when they returned home from work, not allowing May to lift a finger. During the day, she visited with her sisters or Remy and Kane’s parents. The few times she had to go to Denver, one of them would drive her there. No matter what time of day, she was never alone.
They made sure she had everything she needed at the end of the day and took extra care to tuck her in her own bed every night, but they still kept their distance. They’d even begun converting one of their unused bedrooms into a nursery.
May’s heart seemed to break a little every day. The more time she spent with them and they weren’t acting like they were in love with her anymore, the more she missed being part of a happy threesome. When she lay alone at night, she had plenty of time to realize how much she missed feeling their heated bodies cradled on either side of her.
Her fingers lingered on the doorknob for a few hesitant moments before she turned and opened it.
“Hey,” she said as she stepped inside the room. Both men turned at the sound of her voice.
“What are you doing here?” Remy asked as he looked past her, as if checking to see if someone else was with her.
“You’re not supposed to drive, May.” Kane reminded her of the one rule they had agreed to.
She raised one hand to halt any other objections. “Please calm down. I really needed to talk to the both of you, and it just couldn’t wait.”
Remy and Kane both stood up after she closed the door behind her.
“Please sit down. I have something I want to say.”
They seemed to contemplate the suggestion before finally returning to their seats. Kane sighed so loud it echoed through the spacious room. “We figured you would get around to telling us you’re leaving. Going back to your life in Denver.”
“We just wondered how long it would take for you to tell us.” Remy’s tone was laced with more anger and sarcasm than she had expected.
May wouldn’t let the sudden sour moods of the two men sitting in front of her deter her from the true reason she showed up in the first place.
“No, I’m not going back to Denver.” Instead of the excited response she expected, she got the exact opposite.
Kane arched a brow. “What about your house, your job? Hell, you turned down our damn marriage proposal.”
She could almost feel the tension increasing, and her patience was wearing thin.
“If I recall, you two lunatics yelled at me, bitched me out, and then
told
me we were getting married. That didn’t exactly make my heart go pitter-patter.”
Remy rose to his feet slowly, and heartache clearly shone in his eyes. “Just get it over with already, May. Just say what you came to say.”
Kane stood as well. He didn’t try to hide the hurt in his eyes when he glared at her. Her heart was slowly breaking as she stared at each man, and her anger was rising. If only they would shut up long enough to hear her out.
“At least you’re not running away from us this time.” Kane’s jab stung.
She’d had enough of the woe-is-me bit. She was pissed. Her purse slid between her fingers and onto the floor when she threw her hands in the air.
“All right! You guys are ruining this.” She sighed but held her ground. “Sit down, shut up, and let me talk!”
Both men gave her silent, bewildered looks but sat down nonetheless.
“I accepted a job at the hospital here in Whispering Mountain.” She couldn’t help but grin at their surprised expressions. “And I was going to ask you two to marry me, but your outbursts have me rethinking that idea.”
Whatever else she had to say was instantly forgotten when Remy and Kane both rushed toward her, taking turns kissing and squeezing her with excitement.
“Princess, you never have to ask us a question like that. We picked your ring out months ago,” Remy said before kissing her breathless.
“I don’t care who asks, I just want to be with you two. I love you both so much.” She couldn’t stop smiling even if she had tried.
“Good, because I’ve already got names picked out,” Kane added, turning her around and kissing her deeply.
“Why doesn’t that surprise me?” May laughed so hard that tears trickled down her cheeks. No matter how hard she fought it, this was where she wanted to be. She loved Remy and Kane more than anything. Life with them would never get boring.
Remy waited patiently as Kane wiped the tears from May’s face.
“Have a seat, sweetheart. We still have some unfinished business we need to clear up for you,” Remy said as he watched her nod nervously. After May took a seat, Kane reached over and squeezed her hand.
“Don’t look like that. Just let us say our peace, okay?” Kane gave her a kiss on the lips before stepping back next to Remy.
“First of all, I’m sorry for acting like an ass. From the moment you opened your eyes at the hospital to…basically now. I never meant to hurt you. I love you,” Remy said. He could tell the tension was slowly easing from her.
“Of course I have to follow that, but what I have to say is just as sincere,” Kane teased, which brought a smile to May’s face. “Baby, I’m so sorry. Seeing you hurt, watching a man standing over you, intending to do harm, just made me go nuts. I’m sorry for how I’ve treated you, and I promise I will do everything in my power to never hurt you like that again.”
“You’re going to make me cry again.”
Remy smiled gently at her. She was so beautiful. “I asked Trevor and Orin to let us break the news to you.” She turned serious, listening intently as he spoke. “Timmons is finally behind bars where he belongs. The pen drive was turned over to the proper authorities and decoded.”
“Earl had been one busy little crook. First he helped his criminal clients commit arson by burning down their own buildings in order to collect the insurance money. He then proceeded to steal from those same clients, as well as a few others. None of his clients had any knowledge of his theft. Timmons is surely looking over his shoulder now that he’s in prison awaiting trial.”
“They’re still digging through his home and office computers and discovering more. There’s no telling what else they will find. But I can say that he’s no longer a threat to you,” Kane added.
“Good grief.” May shook her head in disbelief. “I’m finally free of him.”
“You’re safe,” said Kane.
“Now that we’ve caught you up and gotten those unpleasantries out of the way, we need to celebrate our engagement. I need to show you how much I love you.” Remy walked over to May and extended his hand. Once she placed hers in his, he pulled her to her feet.
Remy kissed her with a passion that seemed to consume him. He no longer cared that he was in his office. He wanted his woman right then, right there. As she kissed him back, matching his tongue-probing intensity, it felt as if his desires invaded her senses. She laced her fingers around his neck, pressing her body flush against his.
Furniture screeched across the wooden floor, and cabinet doors squeaked open and slammed shut. Remy heard Kane fumbling through the desk drawer, and moments later a zipper opened.
Remy hastily broke their kiss. May’s eyes glowed wild with excitement and hooded with lethal desire.
“I want you now,” she muttered in a low, sensual tone. May’s fingers moved, fumbling with the buttons of her pants.
“Here, let me.” Kane walked up behind her and wrapped his hands around her waist, turned her to face him, and kissed her as he unfastened her pants.
Remy finally had a chance to see what the commotion his brother had caused was all about. Kane had made use of the blankets they kept stored in the cabinet when they pulled all-nighters at the office. He’d shoved the chairs and coffee table to one side of the room and placed several blankets on the floor, stacking them on top of each other for comfort.
Remy quickly disrobed as May’s pants slid down her thighs and finally to her shoes. When he was completely naked, he walked up behind her and pressed his body up against hers. The sheer warmth that reverberated from her only kicked up his need to be inside her. His swollen cock flexed against her back. Her soft sigh as she kissed Kane was Remy’s undoing.
“Get her out of those clothes and shoes now, Kane.”
Remy wasn’t surprised at the low, husky timbre of his voice. His hunger for her was indescribable. He found a comfortable spot on the blankets and watched as his brother and the love of his life nearly ripped their clothing off.
Remy stared in awe as she stood naked in front of him. The glowing sunlight that filtered in through the windows illuminated May’s soft curves.
“Fuck me,” Remy muttered. “Help her to her knees, Kane. I can’t wait any longer.”
“Me, neither.” Kane’s eyes were filled with lust and desire. “Come on, sweetheart. Remy’s about to burst.”
May straddled Remy’s thighs. He could feel her trembling, and it made his dick pulsate with need. Moisture leaked from his cockhead.
“I can feel your cream coating my thigh. It’s so warm.” Remy closed his eyes and savored the feel of her cream. “May, I really need you to slide down on my cock. Your pussy is begging to be filled and fucked.”
She smiled wickedly at him and said, “I guess you’re running the show.” May gently grabbed his dick, moving until she hovered just above him, and slowly lowered her hips, working his cock inside her. The feel of her hot, clenching pussy was too much, too overwhelming. He began thrusting his hips up as he held her by the waist. His movements were brutal and uncontrollable, and his heartbeat thundered so loudly in his ears that he barely registered Kane’s voice.
“Unless you’re intent on coming before I get to explore May’s luscious ass, I need you to slow down.”
It took Remy a few moments to comprehend what his brother had said. His fingers were glued to May’s waist, so he loosened his grip and slowed his pace. She leaned forward, pressing her plump breasts to his chest. They were both covered in a light coating of sweat. He was amazed that she had managed to keep her moans muffled, burying her mouth into the side of his neck.
Kane lubed up his cock, stroking hard, and then got on his knees behind May. He peppered kisses on her back, causing her to moan and rock her hips. Remy fought the urge to move. He knew he needed to allow Kane whatever time he needed to with May.
Her body jerked between them. “Oh! That lube is cold, Kane.”
“Sorry. I’ll warm you up in just a second.”
Remy knew the moment Kane started pushing his dick inside her. May groaned, digging her nails into Remy’s shoulders and rocking her hips.
Through gritted teeth, Kane said, “Damn, you feel so good, May.”
May began rocking back and forth with a fevered pace, causing all three of them to moan with pleasure. It wasn’t long before she rocked them into a sea of orgasms.
With odd coordination, they rolled over onto their sides, May still cradled between both men.
“Mmmm, I don’t want to move. I love this.”
“Snuggle as long as you want,” Remy said.
“We’re not in a rush,” Kane added.
