A type of late Neolithic
STONE CIRCLE
found in northwestern Europe in which two or more rings of pillars are set inside one another with a common centre. The most famous example is
STONEHENGE, WILTSHIRE, UK,
where in Phase 3 there are four concentric rings that focus on the altar stone.

A term that describes the way in which flint and other silica-based isotropic materials behave when hit by a hard object or are subject to great pressure. Because the material has the same physical properties in all directions, ripples radiate outwards from the point of percussion or applied pressure, appearing fairly clearly on the ventral surface of a detached flake or blade, generally resembling the surface of a mussel shell.
