Thetford ware

Mass-produced wheel-turned late Saxon pottery manufactured in workshops near Thetford in Norfolk, England, from the late 9th century through to the early 12th century. The fabric is hard and sandy, grey to buff in colour. The products are mainly cooking pits and jars with limited rouletting and applied thumb-strip decoration.

Thiessen polygons

A formal method for exploring settlement patterns based on notional polygons constructed around a series of distributed points by taking the calculated mid-line between each pair of adjacent points to form the lattice. They provide a general approximation of the extent, shape, and orientation of the spheres of influence or territory around recorded settlements or other nodes in the settlement pattern.

A Norse open-air assembly site at which periodic gatherings were held to promulgate laws, dispense justice, and declare leaders or kings. Some thing sites were established on earlier monuments such as round barrows, while others are marked by natural features such as trees or distinctive hills. The Tynwald on the Isle of Man, which is still used for its original purposes on 5 July each year, has a stepped profile so that the social order is physically represented. See also

thin orange ware

Thin-walled orange-coloured fineware manufactured in the Valley of Puebla and found widely traded through Mesoamerica following its introduction in the
PRE-CLASSIC
period. It is taken as evidence of the extent of central Mexican influence during the
CLASSIC PERIOD
. Potentially confusable with Post-Classic fine orange ware.
