“Hello! Anyone here?” I looked at my watch and noticed it had been thirty seconds since I saw Blade. Just as I started
to run down the stairs, my cell went off– I quickly answered.
“What, I’m kind of busy here!”

Gavin was
yelling into the phone as if he was running.
“You need to get the fuck out of there quickly! Like now! It’s going to blow any minute!”

I bit my lip hard in anger for being in this situation.
“I wouldn’t be in this fucking situation, if you guys weren’t here. I love you, in case I don’t make it out, I wanted to spend the rest of my life with you.”

I said out of
breath, and hung up. I peeked around the corner and saw a bunch of rooms along a long narrow corridor. But only saw light at the end of the hallway under two double wooden doors, about 60 feet away. I pulled my gun out of my back holster and turned as I heard someone running up behind me. I lowered it when I saw Gavin with panic in his eyes. He grabbed me and turned us towards the staircase we just came down. Dragging me with my body pressed against his we got to the second landing as the explosion went off. The last thing I heard before the world went dark, and debris piled on top of us was, “I love you Rebecca.”
