We all filed out of the room one at a time and made our way to the warehouse out back. I walked in, pulled the saw horse’s together and grabbed the chains and locks. I motioned to the saw horses and they tied him down as I said.

“Hammer, you realize we have to remove your club tattoos. We will make it as quick as possible, but you will stay far away from everyone in this club. Do you understand me?” He nodded to me as I heated the metal plating with a blow torch.

I pressed the red glowing metal against the skull and daggers on his back, his skin sizzled and he screamed out in pain. When I pulled the metal fro
m his flesh, some came off attached to the metal. I relit the metal with the blowtorch and grimaced as the warehouse smelled of burning flesh, which is not a pleasant smell. To calm the room I quickly said.

“It’s almost over, only two more and we’ll let him go.”

Everyone looked antsy as I finished removing the tattoos. Hammer passed out from the pain, we carried him to the back of the pickup truck and had the pledge drive him home.

I pulled out my buck knife as I laid Hammer’s cut on the table, and removed the stitching from his name. I tossed his nametag in the garbage and handed the cut to Blade. I hugged Blade with one arm and said. “You’ll do a great job.”

Blade nodded at me and smiled. I walked to the basket and picked up my cell. I had three missed texts from Rebecca.

Hey I missed you leave this morning. What happened to breakfast in bed? ~Rebecca

How’d the vote go? ~Rebecca

I’m still at your house, and would love some lunch. ~Rebecca

I smiled and headed out the door.

Chapter 8

Aftershock

*Rebecca*

I finished texting Gavin and started snooping around his house a little. I found a lot of family pictures, club outings, and pictures of him with a lot of women. I walked into the kitchen and was happy when I saw he had made coffee before he headed out this morning. I couldn’t help but keep thinking about the trouble I’ve found myself in. I fell for my mark! I’ll never be able to show my face at the field office again. I couldn’t help but lean back against the counter and smile knowing I could do only this for the rest of my life and be happy. Just as I was about to go get dressed I heard the door slam. I yelled out as I was rushing through the kitchen, “Gavin! I’m so happy You’r– hom.” I cut myself
off as I saw Hammer rush towards me. I tried to run into the living room but he punched me in the right temple and I dropped to the ground, hitting my head on the buffet table at the back of the couch. I laid in shock for a minute before I reached up and touched the goose egg that was forming on my temple. I pulled my fingers back and cringed when I saw the crimson blood flowing from my head wound, onto the floor and clouding my vision. I looked up as I heard heavy footsteps getting closer, and the last thing I saw was Hammer’s fist– then darkness.

The phone rang and Hammer answered it. All Lucas and I heard was Hammer say, “Lucas and Rebecca are a little tied up right now. And are you talking about your little play thing here? I picked her up from your house about twenty minutes ago.”

That was all I heard before he slammed down the receiver. The rope he used to tie us was chaffing my skin. I could feel Lucas struggling behind me, and muffled complaints from the gag in our mouths. Hammer walked through the living room, and started pawing at the family portraits on the fireplace mantle. Lucas drew his attention with all of his commotion as he tried to free himself.  Hammer stood in front of me and said to Lucas,

“Every noise you make I’m going to cut her. Every noise she makes I’m going cut you. Do you understand me?”

He nodded and made an agreeable sound. Unfortunately Hammer did warn him, and when he heard the sound from Lucas he sliced my bare arm with his buck knife. My scream was muffled as I cried quietly to myself. I looked down and saw the gash in my bicep which made me cry harder. My pain made Hammer laugh. He leaned in and whispered in my ear.

“I’m going to cut you, fuck you, then dump you like I do to all of the little whores. Gavin will never see you again.”   I nodded as I waited for him to busy himself with something else.

I heard a pounding at the door as I waited for Hammer to get it. While Hammer was busy, I worked my cast up and down and waited for Lucas’ and my ropes to loosen. The commotion in the kitchen drew our attention for a second but we were finally able to release our hands. I leaned down and untied my feet from the chair and whispered to Lucas.

“I’ll be right back. Don’t make much noise.”

He nodded in response, and I rushed off to the bedroom to get my pistol. I check the clip to make sure it was loaded and rushed through the hallway, looking for Hammer. I heard a crashing in the kitchen, so I figured Gavin must be here. I rushed past Lucas, motioned to be quiet and ran through the dining room towards the kitchen. I pushed the swinging door open, and yelled.

“ATF Get Down!” Hammer and Gavin stopped, and stared at me before Hammer started to rush me.

“You are a Fucking dead Fed!” I squeezed the trigger and watched as the bullet flew through his head, splattering blood and brain matter all over the small tidy, kitchen. Gavin seemed to be in shock by the news, that was just revealed to him. He wiped away the blood that splattered his face, and walked past me towards his brother.

“Gavin please let me explain.” I said as I grabbed his shoulder. He pulled free of me and turned with pain in his eyes, before he said.

“I knew you must be too good to be true. I will deal with this later, right now we have to get rid of Hammer, and patch up you and my brother.”  His eyes kept betraying him and going to my bleeding wound on my good arm. I could see I was hurting him, but tried to lessen the blow a little.

“What I felt for you was not part of my mission. I actually fell for you. I can take care of Hammer, I just have to make a call. I suggest you take Lucas and the two of you go to the club house.
I’ll catch up with you later and we’ll talk about this.”

He nodded, pushed Lucas to the door lightly and walked out, slamming the door loudly behind him. I winced and pain radiated through my body. Between being brow beat, cut, and having my heart ripped out of my chest, it’s a miracle I’m even standing at all.  I picked up my cell, and called in the local clean up crew. I spoke clearly and precisely as I gave them the address.  And waited patiently as they got there and questioned everything I did.

“Agent Quinn, I’m Agent Loma, how and when did this start?”

I looked at the crime scene agent and sighed. “I was at Gavin’s drinking a cup of coffee. I heard the door open and Hammer rushed me. He hit me a few times, knocked me into a table which caused the damage to my head, and I woke up here in Lucas’s house, tied to a chair with Lucas.”

He followed everything, but when I said I was in Gavin’s house, and didn’t have my service revolver on me, I could tell the cogs were turning for questions. Just as I was about to answer the inconsistent questions he said.

“So you were at Gavin’s? Where was your service revolver, why wasn’t it with you at all times? Why are you wearing a sleep shirt and nothing else? How did Marshall Donalson also known as Hammer, end up like this?”

I rolled my eyes and said. “ If you had let me finish I would have answered. I stayed the night at Gavin’s, Hammer surprised me when I was still in my pajamas. I left my service revolver here because I went on a date, and couldn’t hide it from Gavin. And Hammer surprised me, tied me up, beat me, cut me, threatened to rape and kill me like he did to the other women, and when I got free I put a bullet in his head when he was fighting with Gavin.”

He put his notebook away and gave me a look of annoyance. I rolled my eyes at him and said,
“Can I go get dressed, so I can give these clothes to the crime scene techs? I’ll sign my affidavit as soon as I get dressed.”

He nodded his head at me to answer, I finished with him and handed him my gun and walked down the hall towards my room.  After changing into a comfortable pair of pants and black t-shirt I grabbed my spare gun out of my suitcase, tucked it into the back of my pants and headed back to the kitchen to sign the affidavit, and hopefully be allowed to leave.  When I walked into the room, they all turned to stare. Agent Loma turned and walked towards me with a clipboard and pen. He already had my service pistol bagged up for evidence, and keeping it legit he tapped the dotted line at the bottom of the page for me to sign. I grabbed the pen and signed the paper, with my every account of what transpired today.

“If that’s it, I’ll be back at the field office in the morning and can be debriefed by Special Agent Marcus.”

He
nodded and waved for the open door.

Chapter 9

Devious Encounters

*Rebecca*

I opened the door to my little blue coupe, jumped in and with a sigh of relief put the key in the ignition. I put the car into drive and headed off towards the clubhouse. Just as I stopped at the stop sign I felt a trickle of fear run down my spine. Adverting my eyes slowly from the road I glanced into the rearview mirror and was suddenly shocked by the eyes looking back at me in the pitch black.

Turning in my seat I tried to reach my gun before he reached for me– only I was too late. A flash of light and sliver of silver caught my attention as he thrust it against my throat, a hiss of pain escaped my throat before he said. “Pull over in the Mall parking lot. Carefully open the window and drop your gun out. Did you really think Hammer was smart enough to do everything alone? I mean how could he? I’m going to get Gavin on the phone and we’re going to settle this right now.”

A tear trickled down my cheek as I shook my head in agreement, carefully pulled over, put the car in park and pulled my gun from my pants and dropped it out the window.

As I was about to ask him who he was, he screamed, “Put your fucking hands on the wheel!”

I
nodded and did as he said, but instead of lessening the pressure on my neck with his blade he pressed it further and watched me in the mirror as he pulled out his cell. I listened intently as he spoke to Gavin.

“Hey Prez, there seems to be a problem with your girl over at the Mall parking lot. You might want to get over here as soon as possible. Ok I’ll
keep an eye out for you.”  I tried to yell but he cut me off as he pressed the blade in further. I cried out in pain as the blood slowly started to trickle down my neck.

Reaching deep into my terrified body I said.
“You know I’m an ATF agent right? I promise you before this night is over I will kill you. I will slowly shove that knife through your throat and watch as you slowly drown in your own blood.”

Letting out a laugh, I smiled but was surprised when he punched me in the
eye socket. I felt the swelling and the trickle of warm blood going down my cheek. A tear trickled down my right cheek, mixing with blood and stinging my raw, cut throat. Unfortunately he didn’t remove the knife before he did and the knife pressed deeper into my already bleeding throat.

He laughed before he said. “You’ll be a dead fed bitch before this night is over. Y’all think you’re so fucking smart, but who has the knife right now? I’m going to kill your lover, after I make him watch
me fuck his fed whore. Then I’m going to stick you like the pig you are.”

Hearing the sound of motorcycles near by I started looking around frantically. He pulled the knife from my throat as he heard the bikes and stepped out of the car. He started waving his hand frantically trying to get their attention, put his knife into its holder on his side and pulled his gun and held it on me, while we waited.

“Over here!” he yelled to get Gavin’s attention.

Gavin pulled up, looked through the window at me, and jumped from his bike. He removed his helmet and tossed it to the side.

He stepped in front of my captor and said. “What’s going on Pledge? Who did this to her?”

Stepping closer to the car so he couldn’t see the gun yet, I saw my chance, and yelled out to Gavin. “Gavin it’s him!”

He hit me with the butt of his pistol before he turned the gun towards Gavin, who already had his gun drawn. I took the moment of his turn to finagle his hunting knife out of it’s sheath.

“You just could never treat me right. All you ever did was bitch at me and make me do all of the bitch work. Maybe if you had trained your bitch better, we wouldn’t be in this situation now would we?!”

Gavin saw I had the knife and slowly started backing up towards his bike to pull him further away. As if sent by god, we heard more motorcycles approaching which drew the pledge’s attention away from us for a split second, which was all I needed to jump out of the car with the knife. I lunged at  him, and before I could strike him in the spine he turned just enough for me to hit his ribs as he pulled the trigger, hitting me on the right side of my chest. The pain of the shot made me stagger, the only thing holding me in place was the hunting knife I had plunged deep into his ribs. We
dropped to both of our knees as he fell over, he was gasping for air, as I slowly crawled up his body and removed the knife from deep inside his lung.

Gavin rushed to me, but I pushed him away. I yelled at the Pledge before I plunged the knife into his other lung and collapsed to my side coughing up blood from deep inside my quickly filling lungs.

Gavin wrapped his hands around my face as his guys came running towards us. He whispered into my ear. “You can’t leave me, I just found you. What am I supposed to do without you? I know we just met, but I think I love you! Please don’t leave me!”  Gavin Yelled at his club members, “Call 911!!! She’s dying!”

I coughed up some blood, and with the last ounce of strength I had I said, “I love you. Sometimes you have to take the moment we’re given and make it our happily ever after. I can do that if you can look past how we met.”

The words came out gargled as I laid there with blood pooling underneath my damaged body.

Trying to comfort me, Gavin said, “I can. Let
’s worry about forever when you get better.”

Gavin sat up behind me and held me
in his lap, rocking me, I could hear the sirens coming for me then the world went dark.
