“If she did it, you won’t have to,” Cassius said softly.
“No,” Mason agreed.
“We will handle her ourselves.” Serafina spread her hands. “It will be war.”
“It’s war regardless,” Brett added. “The attack against Cassius’ pack was a bold, broad stroke. If Diesel’s pack has already fallen, then we’re deep in the trenches and in danger of losing it all.”
Each pack had a unique tie. Hudson River and Willow Bend through the friendship of their Alphas. Willow Bend to Delta Crescent through the mating of Serafina and Linc. Now Sutter Butte to Delta Crescent—he glanced at Sovvan. He would never declare war on the pack of her birth.
She seemed to sense his next move, because she released him. Rising, he sliced a claw across his open palm, and let the blood run. “My blood oath that I will defend you and yours. Let there be no war between us.”
Serafina echoed his move, facing him with her bleeding hand. Mason stood third, and he gave his oath. On the screen, Brett rose as well and showed his bleeding hand to the screen.
Every wolf in the room, save the Alphas, bowed, even Sovvan. Power swirled between them, but they weren’t complete. They needed to know about Diesel and Luciana.
Though Brett couldn’t join them physically, Cassius clasped hands with Serafina then Mason, then bore witness as they did the same.
“We stand together.” Cassius could hardly believe the words he said, but they were the right ones. They echoed along his pack bonds, and his pack responded. They were warriors, all of them.
“Together.”
Sovvan pressed her hand to his back, and her love seemed to resonate along the mating bond. Hope joined arms with strength.
