“I didn’t forget, but I haven’t had time to pack.

What time are we leaving?”

Nice cover, I hoped.

John grinned.

I suspected he saw right through me, but would never let on.

“We’re not leaving until around eight.

But I have plans for you for today.

So, go shower up and put on one of those adorable sweat suit things you have.

I’ll go clean up at home and meet you back here in an hour.

Save the dishes, they’ll wait for us to get back.”

He knew that would irritate me.

But he left and I did as he asked.

An hour later, we were in his brand new truck.

“So where are we going?” I asked.

“No you don’t, Ms. Kavana.

I’ve never been able to do this for anyone.

So you just sit there, belted in my moving vehicle and take what I have to offer.”

He ran his fingers through his hair.

He was nervous.

He only ran his fingers through that thick hair when he was nervous.

“Okay, come on!

You have to at least give me a hint or something.

Are we getting matching tattoos?

Are we getting pierced or something?

Maybe you’re going to give me off to an illegal sex ring or something.”

“You’re such a freak,” he said laughing.

“Because of you, I sold all my buildings that were finished.

I have an extra million in the bank.

I’m thanking you today, and you’re going to let me.”

I looked forward through the windshield.

He didn’t want me questioning him because he was doing something nice and he wanted it to be a surprise.

“I suggest you smoke now if you want to, because you can’t smoke where we’re going and you won’t want to go outside.”

In disbelief that he was going to allow me to smoke in his brand new truck, I rolled the window all the way down, holding my lit cigarette out the window.

I watched the people on the street, lovers

holding hands, people rushing off to their next location, even an interesting young man with a Mohawk assisting an elderly woman cross the street.

That made me smile.

She was eyeing him and he gave her a kind smile, under his black lipstick.

“We’re here,” John announced as he parked.

I looked around.

There were restaurants, shops and a spa.

I wasn’t going to ask questions.

No matter what John was doing, he was trying to surprise me and I wasn’t going to ruin it.

Even if I hated it, I was going to smile and be appreciative of his efforts.

Out of the truck, he intertwined his fingers in mine and led me into the spa.

The inside of the building was warm as were the smells.

“I have an appointment today,” John gave his information.

“Of course, come right in.”

The lady behind the counter led us back to a changing room with a partition in the middle.

“Take off all your clothes, even the underwear and put the robes on.

When you’re changed, enter through the door in the back and ring the bell.”

I gave John a big healthy smile and dropped my pants.

“We don’t need a partition, do we dear?”

“God, I hope not!

I love seeing you naked.”

He dropped his pants to the floor as well.

“So what’s this?

Are we getting pedicures?”

I teased.

“Something like that.”

I took a deep breath and opened the door.

Inside were side by side massage tables, side by side pedi-chairs, a bottle of champagne chilling between them and two tubs filled with a milky substance that had greenery and flowers floating in it.

“Welcome John and Candy.

I’m Michelle and this is Grenalda.

We’ll be taking care of you today.

If you wouldn’t mind taking a seat in the chairs to my left.”

John and I took our seats.

A young man came into the room carrying a tray full of fruit and cheese.

He placed it between us, and poured two glasses of previously uncorked champagne.

“If you need anything else, please press the button between the chairs.

My name is Michael.

Welcome.”

“This is nice, John.

Thank you.”

John raised his glass.

“You’re fantastic Candy, and what I have planned today isn’t enough to tell you how wonderful you are.

I’m very happy and very well off because of you.

Before you hyperventilate,” he held his palm toward my face, “I have no proposal planned for today, just fun and relaxation and a very big thank you.”

I giggled and tapped my glass on his.

“Thank you.”

If there was a man on the planet I would try the marriage thing with again, it would be John, but I still wasn’t ready to dive back in that pool.

Michelle and Grenalda returned with tubs for our feet.

“What on earth?”

I jumped.

There were tiny fish in the buckets.

I didn’t want to smell like fish.

“Don’t worry, ma’am,” Michelle said, “they will eat the dead skin.

It’s completely pain free.

Then we will wash your feet and you will do a scented paraffin soak.”

“What are they?” I asked.

“Minnows,” John said, “the same kind I fish with.

If you stand in shallow water, and stand still, they will do this automatically.

I was amused when I read that this spa used them.

It
is
a five-star rated spa.”

John looked concerned, brow furrowed and face red.

“John, it’s wonderful.

I’ve just never heard of this before.”

“Dead skin makes the feet stink.

When we wear heels and panty-hose we sweat, and it makes the dead skin rot, giving off foot-funk.”

Michelle picked up my left foot and eased it into the cool water.

“Now you know why the robes and the air are warm.

Can’t have our fish dying, so they have to stay in cool water.

You’ll only sit like this for fifteen minutes and we’ll remove the fish to a safe place and clean and sanitize your feet before the paraffin soak.”

I thanked her, then sipped at the champagne.

“I’m excited about our trip,” John started.

“I think we’re going to have a lot of fun, not just that kind of fun, but you know, normal fun too.

I looked up that website after my shower and there are a lot of activities and things.

There is only one thing that bothers me though.”

I leaned up on my elbow, “What could that be?”

“Well, those tickets were five grand a piece, plus air fare.

These people must be loaded.

What do they do?”

I laughed, “this is nothing.

You know that diamond bracelet, crystal decanter and nearly every new piece of jewelry I’ve brought home?”

“Yeah,” he answered.

“All from them.”

John popped a cheese square in his mouth, “What do they do?”

“Well, Janette is a judge in town.

She’d rather you didn’t know that.

James is an accountant, though with full sleeve tattoos you would never know it.

They are really down to earth and not snooty in any way shape or form.”

“Judges don’t starve, but they’re not that well paid.”

John said.

“I swear, when you meet her, you’ll never know what she does or did for a living.

She’s the most normal woman I met, aside from her sexual proclivity.

I’ve just never talked to them about money.”

“So, I will fit in then?”

My jaw dropped.

I never considered John feeling less than worthy.

I’d always thought that feeling was specifically reserved for me.

“They’ll adore you.”

It wasn’t hard to imagine Janette being pleased to fuck John, especially since I knew just how good he was at fucking.

He was also much better looking than James, not that James was a bad looking guy.

John leaned back in his chair.

“I shouldn’t worry.

Their names start with a J and so does mine.

We already have one thing in common, well two, if we’re talking about you too.”

“All done with the fish,” Michelle announced as she began toweling off my feet.

“I didn’t feel a thing,” I said.

“I thought they were avoiding me.”

She giggled.

“Their mouths are very tiny.”

Grenalda lifted a lid that was on the floor in front of my chair then pressed a button.

A tub of warm paraffin rose.

She eased my feet into it.

“Open robe.

Will make you hot.”

Her English was broken.

Her accent sounded exotic, like a mixture of Russian and French.

“Thank you,” I said smiling.

I opened my robe a little, exposing most of my chest.

“May I?” she asked, grabbing the collar of my robe.

“Um, okay?”

She pulled my robe open, holding a piece inside my breast on my chest bone and tucking the rest behind me.

She repeated on the other side.

“Leave legs closed if uncomfortable.

No worry, we don’t look.”

She nodded at me and left.

“Well that’s nice,” I said for lack of better words.

Michael reappeared, refilling our champagne glasses and bringing more cheese and fruit, this time also carrying a tray of finger sandwiches.

He didn’t speak a word.

“You know that’s all I expect out of you on this trip, right?” I asked turning my head toward John.

“What’s that?”

“I want you to be open, of course.

But I want you to have fun.

Enjoy yourself.

It’s an all-expense paid vacation.

Even our alcohol is completely free.

This can be two weeks of fun, relaxation and total craziness!”

“I’m sure I will have fun.

But you have to promise not to worry about how I feel.

If I’m going to a swinger’s resort, I know exactly what to expect.

I wouldn’t go if it were going to bother me.

I think it will actually turn me on to see someone else fuck the hell out of you.”

He was whispering, but I could still hear the throaty growl behind the “fuck the hell out of you,” statement.

I took a deep breath, “ I promise to
try
not to worry.”

“Good.”

We sat in silence.

I found myself happy that Grenalda had opened my robe.

The warm foot treatment had me sweating.

I enjoyed a few finger sandwiches while I sipped on my champagne.

“This is really relaxing, John.

Thank you.”

John gave a grin and a wink.

“This is just the beginning.

I have you until tomorrow, remember?

You promised.”

“Yes, I remember.”

Michelle started cleaning the wax off my feet then invited me to lay on the table, covering my lady bits with a towel after taking my robe.

John was on the table next to me.

For the next hour, we both received full body massages and warm stone treatments.

“Time to retreat to the bath,” Michelle announced.

She had to say it twice as I had started to doze.
