“Leon, is Sam all right?” Jason snaps.

“It’s me.” I can’t hide the smile that erupts across my face. “You were worried?”

“I’m always worried when it comes to you, beautiful.” His voice is softer, almost a whisper. “But maybe we can both relax a little now. Did Leon tell you?”

“Yes. How did you know?”

“I have my ways, and I know you. Your very responsive body has been all tied up in knots, and I should be the only reason that ever happens,” he drawls seductively, then his tone abruptly changes. “Richard left through a major airport. I had asked our security team to keep an eye on him. Is there anything else you wanted to know?” I pull the phone away from my ear to check that I am still talking to Jason.

“Excuse me?” I stutter. I think for a moment then realise someone must have walked in on him for his manner to change like that. I know he likes to keep his private life private, and maybe he doesn’t want whoever came in to know he is talking to me.

“If there is nothing specific, my intern is here Sam.” He clips. “I will see you later, much later, though, so no need to wait up.” His cold dismissal is a stark contrast to his sensual greeting.

“Oh, no danger of that, dickhead!” I snap the phone shut and throw it onto the pile of cushions on the floor.

“Hey, hey don’t go breaking the only phone we have between us that’s still working.” Leon approaches with two mugs and a bottle of something tucked under his arm.

“Sorry,” I mutter and take the piping hot drink from him. Before I take a sip he drops a large slug of rum by the smell of it into my cup.

“Trouble in paradise?” he teases.

“Did Jason strike you as bipolar?” I sniff only half serious.

“Um, no.” He chuckles.

“No, me either, so he’s just being an arse then?” I grumble.

“Oh, he definitely strikes me as being an arsehole.”

“I said arse not arsehole,” I correct.

“To-may-to….to-mah-to.” He shrugs dismissing my concern and changes the subject. “So what’s with the baby clothes?”

“Sofia’s best friend, Bethany. Her baby is due any day now. It’s why I am not going to cut Jason’s bollocks off when he gets here,” I mutter begrudgingly.

“Jason’s the father?” Leon chokes back his drink, just avoiding spluttering over us both with his shocking question.

“He wouldn’t be alive if he was.” I quip. “No, Jason’s boss, Daniel Stone, is the father. He’s on paternity leave so Jason is working
all
the hours. I told you about them.” I roll my eyes at his blank expression.

“Probably…doesn’t mean I actually listened.” He nudges me and gives me a cheeky smile.

“Don’t be mad, beautiful.” Jason’s warm breath kisses my neck; his strong arms wrap around my waist. Even sleeping, my tension is evidence that I am still angry enough to resist his embrace. Not too much and not for long, because ultimately, I relax into his hold, and he softens to allow me to twist around. I hitch my leg over his hip, and my hand snakes down between our bodies. He groans with satisfaction but chokes back a yelp and freezes, and I grab hold of his balls, my long finger nails exerting enough force to make their presence abundantly apparent.

“Sam,” he growls out a warning, even rolling his hips into my grasp. His cock swells from semi to rock hard. “I am sorry if I upset you, but I didn’t think it was professional to carry on talking to you like that. I was at work.”

“I am aware of where you were, Jason, but that doesn’t mean you have to be a full-blown arsehole to me. Wait…why would it be unprofessional to talk to your girlfriend in front of your intern?” His eyes widen because my grip just tightened.

“Do you want to let go of my nuts so I can answer that question?” His voice is level, but there is underlying stress in his delivery.

“Actually, no. I want to hold them right here.” I tug a little, closing my fingers around his most precious sac. A deep groan escapes his chest, and he rocks his hips and his hard-on against my tummy. I can feel my own heat melt, but I won’t be distracted. “Jason?”

“She’s been invaluable this week. With Daniel MIA I have welcomed the help, and she’s worked every extra hour I have.” His explanation sounds remarkably like an excuse.

“As she should…she’s an intern, but why would it matter how you spoke to me?” His evasive answer has my hackles rising, and the flash of worry in his eyes is justified. I am holding his life in my twitchy hand.

“I have just been impressed with her hard work. Surprised actually. She’s been very focused and hard working.” His iteration is fuelling my fire. My grip tightens, and he puffs out a sharp breath with the truth. “She has a crush on me, that’s all, and as much as I have made my position clear, I’m still not that much of an arsehole to rub you in her face. I didn’t want to hurt her feelings.”

“But being an arsehole to me is perfectly acceptable?” I let go of my hold because this is no longer a cheeky bit of fun. I leap from the bed. He sits abruptly and reaches out, trying to prevent me escaping. I stand away from the bed and roughly pull on my yoga pants and t-shirt, which were lying in a wrinkled heap on the floor. I glance at him sitting bolt upright and naked, his face hidden in the shadow of the room. Only his cut chest is illuminated by the light from the door when I open it to storm out. He is hot on my heels as I reach Leon’s door.

“Where the fuck do you think you’re going?” He grabs my hand as I reach for the handle. His fingers wrap mine, and he crushes me against the smooth metal. I don’t cry out but turn my head to scowl at him. His face is impassive but his eyes darken with rage.

“I’m going to bed. It’s all right, Jason; I’ve made my position with Leon
perfectly clear.
” I repeat his ridiculous sentiment back at him. He breathes heavily through his nose, and I can see his temper start to fray. Good, fucking arsehole.

“You’re being childish, Sam.” His voice is low and menacing, but I still try and open Leon’s door. It swings wide but not from any effort on my part. Leon stands completely naked, with floppy bed hair falling in his sleepy eyes. I barely notice because he rarely wears much more, but I can feel Jason stiffen behind me. I straighten in surprise, but my shock isn’t at his appearance, it’s the fact he’s awake. He usually sleeps like the dead.

“Children, children, can you please keep it down.” He absently grabs his cock, although not to cover himself, more to massage the semi hard-on he is sporting. “Unless you are planning on joining me, why don’t you both go and settle this…whatever this is…like adults…naked with tongues.” He grins at me, and with his free hand, tips my open mouth shut just before he slams his door. Jason chuckles behind me, and I swing round but collapse against the rock hard impact of his shoulder in my tummy. He scoops me high, and slaps my bottom hard before striding back to my bed.

Dropping me from a great height into the centre of the bed, I squeal and shuffle back away from his encroaching frame. I have to bite back my smile, because as sexy as he looks—and he looks fucking delicious—I am still mad.

“Stop!” I slap my hand on his naked chest as he hovers over me, all hard and hot.

“No, you’re jealous, and I love that, but you have nothing to be jealous of, and I’m going to prove it.” He takes the wrist of the hand holding his chest and the other too, and holds them high above my head.

“Awesome sex doesn’t prove shit.” I fight him and the desperate moan at the back of my throat as he pushes his strong legs between mine and works me wider. I am so damn wet, and I bet he knows it. He draws in a deep breath and purses his lips as his eyes darken with undiluted desire.

“You’re right. Actions speak louder than words, though. Sam, I promise I will never give you another reason to be jealous.” I sniff out a sharp, derisive snort. “You doubt me?” His brows pitch together, and he looks utterly sincere.

“Men lie.” I try to shrug, but my arms are taut, making the action difficult.

“Everyone lies, but I’m telling the truth, and with my actions, I will prove that over time.” His lips cover mine with a sweetly possessive kiss that steals my breath. “You trust me, and I won’t betray that. I know what it means, beautiful.” I sink and sigh when he calls me that. He looks at me like I’m the only girl in the world and so precious because of it.

“Trust me?” His deep stare pierces right through me. I am exposed and vulnerable, and I couldn’t be any happier.

“I do.”

“Good…now for those actions.” He grunts and thrusts so deep I gasp out a silent cry. I am not silent for long.

“That’s so fricking hot.” Lili giggles.

“I love it when they do that.” Bethany grins and winks at me nudging Sofia at her side. I am having a great night. Sofia arranged an anti-Valentine girls’ night out for Lili, a waitress from her family’s restaurant and a really close friend. She’s a single mum, and since we are all a little ‘loved-up’, we collectively decided to have a night off.

“When they do what? Slap your arse or carry you away caveman style?” Sofia snickers when Bethany and I answer together.

“Both.” We all collapse into giggles.

“I don’t get it.” Sofia frowns in all seriousness.

“What don’t you get, sweetie?” I try not to laugh as her face turns a glorious shade of red.

“I’m not a prude or anything, but spanking hurts. Paul did it once, and I nearly punched his lights out. I think he only got one slap in before I stormed out. It was humiliating.” Her brows are bunched tight.

“It can be, and personally, I’m not into that, but spanking doesn’t have to be humiliating. It can be very arousing.” I notice Bethany shift and I give her a pointed stare. “Want to help me out here?”

“Oh, no, I plead the fifth.” She holds her hands up in surrender. “I am heavily pregnant, and horny as hell. If I start talking about Daniel and sex, I will not last the evening.”

I chuckle and turn back to Sofia. “All I’m saying is it’s very much ‘for each to their own’. Like any relationship, everything is very personal. The point is, you don’t know until you try, and as long as you trust your partner and can happily communicate your wishes, then it can be lots and lots of fun.”

“And being tied up…that’s fun for you?” Sofia asks. I smile when Bethany snaps her lips shut tight and shakes her head, leaving me to fill in the blanks. “Yes, sweetie, that is lots of fun.”

“But you can’t, you know, move? I mean you can’t grind or grab where you need them to be with your thighs. You can’t touch them. It’s so frustrating.” She puffs out a breath to try and expel some of the heat she is holding in her cheeks. She snaps up the shot glass of champagne that comes with the cocktails and downs it in one swallow. I am silent, with a subtle grin while I watch her think about what she just said.

“Is that the point?” Her voice is excited with her self-revelation.

I offer an encouraging smile, and her face lights up, but just as quickly, she frowns again. “But you would have no control over…you know…coming.” She whispers the last word, and we all bust out laughing. “Oh…that would
also
be the point.” She nods slowly at her enlightenment. “Well, there is no fucking way I am giving Paul that kind of power,” she states and fixes us with a stern glare and serious tone. “And I’ll thank you to keep all this to yourselves. I don’t want him getting ideas above occasionally sticking his dick in my—”

“More drinks I think?” Bethany blurts out. Sofia slaps her hand over her mouth, covering her loose, over-sharing lips and cursing her alcohol addled brain. I get the next round, and we settle back to more mundane conversations and catching up.

I have known Sofia for a few years. We instantly hit it off. She is fun, but more than that, she is a good friend. She works at an exclusive private club, and when I first went there with a client, she cornered me in the ladies. She knew him as a member and had heard rumours. Her face filled with concern, she asked if I was okay, if I needed any help, did I need money,
anything
. I think she was prepared to call the police and have my ‘date’ arrested. I probably should’ve told her the truth then, but I didn’t, and now it just doesn’t matter. She didn’t judge me then, and these girls don’t judge me now.

It feels really good to relax. I didn’t realise how on edge I was until Jason told me that Richard had left the country, and I physically felt the tension seep from my body. A respite that was short-lived. Since our fight, I can’t hide the fact that I find myself in brand new and totally unfamiliar territory: that of jealous girlfriend. It is like a clawing sickness that clouds my rational brain. I can’t help it; all I can do is acknowledge and try to deal with any fallout.
