She laughed, releasing every fear and hurt and
disappointment she’d ever felt. “I appreciate the sentiment, but maybe a
tattoo...someday.”
“She’s trying to get away.” Trey laughed as he lifted her
arm over his head and slung her up onto his shoulder. “Ain’t gonna let that
happen.”
Garret opened the door for them. “Nope. Gotta keep her
here.”
“Now wait.” Upside down, her face in Trey’s back, she could
barely catch her breath from laughing. “You’re not really going to brand me,
are you?”
Trey carried her up the stairs and into their bedroom. He
slung her on the bed.
She looked up into the happiest smile she’d ever seen on the
man.
Garret walked into the room, carrying something in his hand.
“Ain’t got a ring or anything, so this’ll have to do for now.” He held up a
permanent marker.
A ring? “What are you doing?” She skittered across the bed,
away from them.
“Uh uh.” Trey jumped and landed next to her. “You’re ours
now, Ms. Megan.” He unsnapped and unzipped her shorts. “This’ll hold you here
‘til we can make this more permanent.”
He tugged down her shorts as Garret climbed on the bed.
“Front or back?” He pulled the cap off the marker.
She giggled. “Okay, if you’re set on this.” She rolled onto
her stomach.
“We’re a couple of country boys, and we mark what’s ours.”
Garret pulled her shorts down further.
“Look at that sweet tush, brother. Gonna look damn good with
our brand on it.”
Garret laughed and started drawing.
“Seriously, you two are more than I can handle.” And she
didn’t want to be without them for a minute. The marker slid on her skin, each
line, each curve making her theirs.
“There.” Garret recapped the marker.
“Nice.” Trey squeezed her cheek. “And it’s dry already. We
can all get nekkid and celebrate.”
“Celebrate?” She twisted to get a peek at the McGatlin’s
Silver Spur brand on her ass.
“We’re gettin’ married.” Garret lay next to her, his arm
propping up his head. “The brand is in lieu of an engagement ring.”
“For now.” Trey laid on her other side. “But we’ll go pick
out a sparkler for you this week. Make it official.”
Thoughts collided in her head. They wanted to marry her?
They’d said they loved her? They had frickin’ branded her? “How?”
“One of us legally, we’ll cut the deck to see who.” Garret
laughed. “But we’ll all three make the vows.”
“I never imagined this.” Emotion welled up again, burning
behind her eyes. “Never thought I’d be this blessed. Just a few minutes ago,
I...” A thought occurred to her. “Just now, out on the porch, would you have
even let me leave the ranch?”
“No.” Trey played with her hair. “If you’d have tried to
leave, we would have gotten out the branding iron while calling the parson.” He
grinned. “Well, we were nearly that desperate. We were prepared to promise anything,
offer you whatever you wanted to stay with us.”
“All I wanted...all I want, is the two of you, right here in
this bed. Always.” She let a tear slip from her eye. She’d heal here, grow and
live her destiny with the men she loved.
“You got it, sweetheart.” Trey leaned in and kissed her.
Garret smacked her marked ass cheek. “Consider yourself the
permanent property of the McGatlin brothers, safe, branded, and forever loved.”

Double Her Destiny
Chapter One
Megan Shore took one more look in the three-sided mirror.
“Is that really me?” Her green eyes, enhanced by a professional cosmetologist,
shone bright and clear. The beautician who’d curled her black hair into long
spirals had somehow imparted a mega shine to it. And the long, white lace gown
her movie star, Garret McGatlin, had commissioned from the most expensive
wedding shop in Los Angeles, clung to her curves like a soft second skin.
“It’s you, but I’ve never seen you look happier.” Megan’s
soon-to-be mother-in-law, Patty McGatlin, stood with one hand on her stomach,
the other clutching the handkerchief she’d been using to wipe her eyes. Even
though Megan would soon be marrying both her sons, Trey and Garret, Patty
treated this day as if a three-way wedding was completely normal. Patty had
trimmed down her luscious plumpness for the wedding, but still looked curvy and
gorgeous in her peach suit. The makeup artist had highlighted her dark blue
eyes, and her short blonde hair framed her unwrinkled face.
Megan turned a circle on the foot-high platform the gown
maker had insisted on shipping with the dress and mirror. The spare bedroom in
the ranch house had been converted two weeks ago into The Bride’s Room, and her
men, Trey and Garret, had been summarily banned from it.
Patty held out a crown of Texas Bluebells featuring a length
of lace flowing from one side of it.
Megan stepped from the platform, smiling at Patty. “Would
you? Please?”
The woman sniffed a couple of times and gave Megan a wobbly
smile. “I’d love to.” She stepped onto the platform and settled the wreath on
Megan’s head. “Just beautiful. I wish I could be there...” She shook her head.
Megan turned and took her hand. “I know, but it’s how your
boys want it. And I do, too.” The wedding ceremony itself would be held
outdoors somewhere on the ranch. The guys wouldn’t tell Megan any of the
details, the jerks. She smiled. “I’ll tell you all about it at the reception.”
The barn that Megan’s stalker had set afire as a distraction
while he kidnapped Megan, had been rebuilt, and now stood empty of horse
stalls, but full of tables and chairs, frilly decorations, a dance floor, a
band, and a caterer who’d been cooking a whole steer for over a day. The entire
county was invited.
A knock sounded at the door. “Miss Megan? Jeff is here to
take you to the ceremony.” Inez, the family’s cook and housekeeper, sounded as
if she was teary too.
A jitter of nerves raced through Megan. “Come in, Inez.”
The older woman peeked in the door, her graying hair in its
customary bun at the back of her head, her fancy floral dress covered in an
apron, even though she had the day off. “You look lovely, Miss Megan.”
She caught the woman’s eye in the mirror. “Thank you, Inez.
I’ve never been this excited in my life.”
Behind her, Patty spread the veil to cover Megan’s
shoulders. “Let’s get you all married up and turned into a McGatlin.”
Megan smiled and helped Patty from the platform. “Walk me
out?” She looked at both women. “I’m too jittery to go alone.”
“Of course.” Patty opened the cover on the box containing
Megan’s bouquet. She plucked the spray of bluebells and peach wildflowers from
the box and handed it to her. “So pretty.” She winked. “You have good taste,
dear.”
“I know I do, only because I’m marrying into the McGatlin
family.” The women laughed.
Inez opened the door wide and stepped aside.
Snapping started at the bottom of the steps. The
photographer. She’d only be taking pictures here and at the reception. Which
was fine with Megan.
After dozens of shots alone, with Patty, with Patty and
Inez, and on different levels of the stairway, Megan was ready to get the heck
outside.
Jeff stood at the kitchen door, holding his white cowboy hat
in his hands. He’d been her security guard during the week her stalker had been
a threat. “May I say, ma’am, that you are a vision?” His cheeks turned red.
“Thank you. And thanks for driving me.” As he opened the
door for her, she narrowed her eyes. “I suppose I can’t get you to tell me
where you’re taking me?” She batted her eyes at him.
He laughed. “Under penalty of death, I’ve promised not to
disclose the location.”
She pressed her lips tight. “Those men.” Picking up her
skirts, she walked out onto the porch.
A red carpet stretched from the bottom of the porch steps to
a gigantic white four-wheel-drive SUV.
“Oh wow. We’re goin’ off-roadin’?” She walked across the
carpet to where Jeff held open the door.
“Some. Might want to wear your seatbelt, ma’am.”
She slid onto the roomy backseat, white leather, and
decorated with a few touches of their blue and peach wedding colors. A bucket
of champagne sat open next to a flute already poured. “They thought of
everything.”
Jeff started the truck and Megan waved to Patty and Inez.
They fluttered their handkerchiefs back at her.
She sipped champagne as music from her favorite country
singer, Jackson Young, floated from the speakers. They’d taken the road past
Inez’s house and along the river. When the road ended, they went four-wheeling
beside the horse path.
Megan had invited her parents, but they’d declined. They
used the excuse that since they’d been in Texas protecting her for a week, they
couldn’t get away again so soon. But she understood why they couldn’t come. As
missionaries, they weren’t comfortable with the relationship Megan shared with
Trey, her cowboy, and Garret, her hotshot action movie hero.
Sadly, Megan had been relieved when her parents refused to
come. Today would be much easier without them here.
“Rough here.” Jeff warned her whenever they were on uneven
ground. After fifteen minutes, he turned the truck toward the river and slowed
to a stop.
She looked out her window. Next to the Clear River, a big,
white gazebo stood shining in the sun. Inside the structure, in the shade of
the roof, her men waited for her.
