‘I’ll be careful but you be even
more careful fighting those creatures.’ Giving him a big hug and lets him go.

Tish had been looking on as his
brothers said their goodbyes. ‘In the short time you’ve been here you’ve grown
up a lot. I’m missing you already so you look after your self and your friends.
We’ll be back as soon as we can so take care.’ She turned and walked off over
to his brothers who were loading the last of the lances.

They stood there watching as the
dragons lifted with no disturbance, just hovered there fore a minute and then
they just leapt up into the sky and were just small dots in minutes. They looked
on for a short time before going back in for there lunch.

Sitting at the table eating there
was no conversation, for the thought of Tish and his brothers fighting the
creatures and not being able to get back for a while, it kind of dulled any
conversation. So they ate in quiet finishing their meal and getting up and
going down to their secret room.

They went straight to the door
and through to the next deck where there dragons were waiting for them. They
knew they were a little upset with Angel's mother and his brothers not being
able to return till their battle with the creatures is won.

They mounted their dragons and
they leapt into the air and up and over the edge of the deck and under. They
headed straight for the dragons deck where they came up. They all sat by the
edge of the deck and watched the storm that had gone back out to sea.

They sat their quietly for a good
while, just sitting and thinking letting their magic flow through their bodies.
This let them relax and start to think of the things that must be done and
soon. Angel knew he needed to start thinking about their problems but also knew
what they were doing now was just as important and so left them to it for a
little longer.

Finely Angel got up and looked at
his friends and their dragons. ‘Come we must sort out what has to be done.
First thing, we must see what has happened to the old spell as we’ve not been
able to check on it for a time now. Then we must see the spell the Renegade is
using. Then I would like to see that crystal again and see if there was a way
of using it safely.’

The others nodding their heads
got up. Shylyn was the first to speak. ‘Well then we better go and see the
spell and it might be better to see it right at the spot in person. Shell we
go?’

‘Ok let’s hit the skies and get
to where the Renegade has done his damage.’ Medwin was climbing his dragon.

‘Before we look at the crystal I
think we better see if there are any books in here that might mention anything
about it.’ Maive urged WhiteFire into the air.

They reached the spot and climbed
down from their dragons and walked over to the rock face and using their magic
looked for the spot. They walked along the wall till they came to it. They
studied it for a short time and smiles came over their faces.

‘Our self repair spell has been
fighting what the Renegade has done and there is only a little area that now
needs repairing. I think we might be able to help it out that little bit. Lend
me your magic and I will help reinforce the spell.’ Angel touched the rock face
as he finished speaking.

Slowly he drew the magic from the
others and reinforced what the spell was doing. They could see right away the
centre of the hole; get smaller and smaller till soon there was nothing to show
the spell had been attacked. Finely the hole was gone and Angel withdrew the
magic and released the others magic.

‘Right shell we go and look in
the castle and see if there is a library there or not. The spell will be ok
till the Renegade comes back and that time we will have to be there to see the working
of his spell.’ Proceeding to Aura he climbed up.

The others followed suit and they
leapt into the air and were over the side in a flash. Arriving back at the
deck, they sat with their dragons for a short time before they left them and
entered the castle. They walked to where in the school the library would be,
but found nothing.

They walked all the floors and
found no library and no books at all. They were going to have to see if there
was anything in the school library about the crystal. They headed back to the
Crystal Chamber and stood outside. They hesitated about going in but decided
the crystal was just too dangerous to play around with at the moment.

They headed back down to the deck
where they went and sat with their dragons and decided what their next move
would be. ‘We need to find something in the library at the school on the
crystal before we try anything with it.’ Angel had his head in his hands.

‘So for the moment we are stymied
with regards the crystal. So the next move is ether the spell the Renegade uses
or until we can do that we need to look in the school library and see if there
is any mention in there about it.’ Shylyn looked at them all, she could see the
longing in their eyes to try and find a use for the crystal to help fight the
Renegade.

‘Well for now we have a bit of
time so lets have a little play with our dragons, go for a flight around and
see what we can do, so lets do it?’ Maive had a fire in her eyes as she moved
to WhiteFire and climbed up.

The others were on their feet in
no time and up on their dragons and they were all up in the air. They went out
to sea a ways but not to far as the storm was still about and could head back
in very quickly. They had a good play and were doing somersaults out over the
sea.

They looked to the storm and
seeing it had turned they headed back to the deck and close to the school where
they said their goodbyes and were not long back in their secret room. They
decided their secret room needs to be sorted out as they will be coming down
here to go to their dragons.

Finishing up they went up for the
evening meal and find they were very hungry. Finishing the meal they head back
up to the library and a quick look to see if there would be anything about the
crystals.

Heading for the master index they
start to look and looking up the Crystal Chamber and see if there is anything
on it. Medwin was the one to find the mention and they all headed off to that
area in the library that was to have books on it.

Finding nothing on the low
shelves they decided to call it a night and come back tomorrow and try climbing
the shelves to see if it is up high. As they were walking out Medwin decided he
would climb up and tries edging along the shelf and see if he could spot
something. Angel thought it a good idea and climbed the other side while the
girls walked underneath them to make sure that they did not fall.

They where almost at the end when
Medwin called out, ‘Got something here, I think it is the book. Shylyn get
ready I will drop it to you and keep walking to the end just encase there is
something else.’

Shylyn grabbed the book as Medwin
dropped it down to her. She opened the book to see what was in it and stopped.
‘I think this book is the one we’re looking for. There is mention of the
Crystal Chamber; I’ll have a look as you keep going to the end.’ She had her
nose in the book as they walked the hall.

They reached the end and as Angel
watched Medwin start to climb down he spotted a book and yelled to Medwin.
‘Medwin stop, there’s a book just above your head if you look you will see the
black leather bound book just by your hand.’ Medwin looked at his hand and
nodded as he reached to pull it out. ‘I can get it and will drop it to Maive.
Can you grab this when I drop it and be careful as it is bigger than the one I
dropped to Shylyn?’ Dropping it as Maive held up her hands in readiness.

Angel and Medwin came down and
went over to the girls who had stopped and had their heads in the books. The
boys come in behind them and had their heads over their shoulders and looking
to see if the books were any good.

‘Shylyn what do you think, does
it have anything on what we need to know, will it help us?’ Angel was trying to
read over her shoulder as he spoke.

‘I think it does as I am only three
pages into it and there is a mention of the room. What do we do stay and read
them or put them back and come back tomorrow and read it?’ She had lifted her
head up and turned to look at Angel.

‘Lets see what the other book is
first, Maive what’s in that one, it was the title that got me to think it might
be good?’ He was moving over to her as he finished looking over Shylyns
shoulder.

Maive had stopped reading and
looked up at Angel; surprise on her face. ‘The book is indeed what we need but
it’s not on the Chamber but Renegades, to be precise Legends of the Renegades.
The book itself is named Legends and the first one is on the Renegades. I have
flicked through quite a few pages and it’s still talking about the Renegades.’

Angels face lit up as did the
others, it was just what they needed. ‘Ok this is what we will do; I think we
need to start looking at them now so we take the books back to our room and
start reading them there. Tomorrow we hide the books down in our secret room
until we can get to finish reading them. This is too important to leave till
tomorrow for if we put them back someone might come and get them and then we
have nothing. No we keep them in our secret room till we have read them and got
all the information we need.’

The others looked at him and
agreed, they need to read them now. So they quickly stuck the books under their
clothes and walked out of the library. As they left a wizard was just going in
and gave them a funny look. They looked back at him and gave him a smile which
he returned and carried on his way.

They reached their room with no
interruptions at all and went over to their area by the windows and sat there.
The girls brought the books out and they sat looking at them. ‘Let’s read what
there is on the Crystal Chamber. I want to see if there is mention of the other
one so we will leave the one on legends till we have this one out of the way.
Shylyn you put that book under the cushions and sit on them just in case
someone comes in.’ Angel lifting the cushions as she shoved the book
underneath.

Angel, Medwin and Shylyn looked
at Maive in anticipation of what was in the book. She took this to mean she
should start. ‘Ok there is mention of the Crystal Chamber and I’ve only just
had a quick browse so I will start and read everything it has.’

‘The Crystal Chamber has been
around for centuries and no one knows exactly when it was created. The Chamber
has been made with four large windows and four plan walls, at the top of a
tower in the castle of the school.

In front of the four plan walls
are four large crystals spaced one hand length from the wall. In the centre of
the room and suspended in the air above the floor is a larger crystal. This
crystal is the main feature of the Crystal Chamber and works by creating a very
high pitched resonance that echo’s off the four other crystals in the room.

Within this area a field is
generated when the Crystal rises to just above a persons head. Now the purpose
of the room is for wizards to come in and weave a spell.

When a wizard normally creates a
spell he weaves the pattern of what he wants the spell to do in his mind and
builds the spell up around that. Normally this is how a wizard would design his
spell also drawing it on paper, but when he comes into the Crystal Chamber he
weaves the pattern of the spell so he can see it.

Now with his spell cast in the
Chamber he can see the pattern set out in the air in front of him. He can
really see what his spell looks like and not how it looks in his mind. So there
in front of him is this glowing net set out in the air in front of him. He can
now work on altering the spell to change what it does.

Being able to do this here in
this room can make creating spells very easy. Most wizards do this when there
is no one around which makes night times the best. They only use the Chamber if
they want to change what a spell does. Most times the wizards still use their
minds and only very rarely will they come to the Chamber.

Once a spell has had its pattern
woven and the wizard can see what it does and is happy with it he will perform
an exercise that will make him remember it. Then when he needs, it’s in his
mind at a moments notice.’

Medwin interrupted Maive as she
was speaking. ‘So from what the books says all wizards only see the spell
pattern in their minds or in the Crystal Chamber. Yet why are we able to see
the pattern in the spells whenever we want to. We will have to make sure we’re
not around anybody when we talk about what a spell pattern is looking like. We
must be very careful about the old spell holding the school to the rock face.
Sorry carry on Maive.’

‘Ok, the chamber most of the time
now is for the training of new students. Getting new students to work out
spells and how to cast them, they are brought here where the teacher can show
them how a spell is created by letting them see the spell and how it is made
up.

The teacher will get them to do
simple spells where the pattern is like a simple spider's web. They are the
best for students to start with but some get harder ones but it all comes down
to this Chamber, where a student first learns to create spells. In the early
days before the Chamber was here they use to teach students about patterns by
getting to learn how to weave cloth.

This enabled them to get the
patterns down in their minds and they keep a record of spell patterns by
weaving them and keeping them in a safe place in the house. But there were
times this was not a very good idea as you would get some insects that would
come in and start eating the patterns.

So then decided on pencil and paper
and keeping them in books. Wizards would have there own collection of books
with the spell patterns in. Many wizards’ homes have a room where he will keep
a record of all his spell books and that room was locked with very special
magical locks.
