Read Emergence: Return of Magic book 1 Online

She laughed, so much for a shortcut, it would take her a
hundred years to even make a dent in the place. Still, it was there, and
it would no doubt help her tremendously, when she learned how to read Latin of
course. Then she got one more surprise, this one not as pleasant.
Nim said, “I have other work to do for Gaea, and you are off
to a tremendous start. It’s time I left you too it, and don’t forget to
practice against each other often.”
Katie felt a rock in her stomach, how was she supposed to
get on without Nim to advise her?
Nim smiled, “You’ll do fine, will you accept my blessing?”
She nodded slowly, curious.
Nim returned her smile and gave her a hug, followed by a
soft kiss, right on the lips. She was too shocked to object, and by the
time her body started to tingle she no longer wanted to object and kissed the
goddess back. She was breathing rather heavily when their kiss ended.
Nim stepped back with a cheeky smile for John, who looked…
turned on actually, and Katie laughed.
She felt really good, energized, healthy, and full of
life. That was some blessing, and kiss.
They said their farewells to Nim, who left in a flash of
magic, instead of using the door. She looked at the huge library and
wondered where to start, but John took her hand and led her toward the
bedroom. She smiled at him, and decided the library could wait a while
longer…
“You’re really amazing at that you know.”
Cassie giggled, “Thank you,” as she continued to massage his
shoulders.
He felt like putty in her hands and her hands felt like
magic. If he didn’t know better he’d think she was actually using some.
“I’m sorry for snapping orders at you.”
Cassie paused a moment and kissed the back of his neck, and
said, “I truly don’t mind, part of me actually enjoyed that.”
He froze, “Snapping at you?”
Cassie said softly as she continued massaging, “No, the
orders part. In a strange way it’s nice to let someone else make the
decisions. I’ve come close to exploding and killing people, its less
stressful. I love you, and trust you, so it works for me.”
He shook his head, as he wasn’t sure if he wanted that power
over her.
She added softly, “Plus, it makes me a little wet when you
get all forceful and confident.”
On the other hand… maybe be didn’t mind after all. Of
course, that’s when he felt an alarm, just when things started to get very
interesting.
“Shit, the bonehead sheriff is back, and he brought fifty or
so of his closest friends.”
She cursed and got up, and started to get dressed, “How do
you know it’s him?”
He explained as he got dressed, “I recognized his life
force, my range has increased a lot since I drained those twenty people.
I also discovered I could drain and send life force to strengthen my zombies
further at the same time, so I don’t get overloaded. They’re almost like
batteries, I can pull the life force back later to make new zombies, so it
makes things a little easier to coordinate.”
He could see the question in her eyes, “I’d have told you
earlier, but I just couldn’t talk about that battle, I didn’t want to even
think about it. I still miss her but… it only feels like having my heart
ripped out now so I can deal.”
She touched his chest and kissed his cheek, “Orders master?”
she said teasingly.
He snorted, “Stop that, I don’t have time right now for
games.”
She smiled when she noticed his reaction, down below, and he
shook his head in amusement and walked out and towards the front of the
school. She followed after.
He sighed, “Fine, concentrate on protection, for both of us,
the zombies and I are all the offense we need.”
She nodded seriously, teasing time apparently over as they
walked outside.
“Sheriff Daniels, you don’t want to do this. Your outnumbered,
and outclassed.”
He didn’t feel any life forces that indicated magical power.
Todd replied, “You are on government property.”
He rolled his eyes, “That’s just a lame excuse to help you
sleep better at night. The truth is your no better than raiders, except
all you do is extort food and supplies for protection, is that about
right? A different kind of raider, with the foresight to look down the
road. You cloak it as legitimate government and taxes, and right here you
see an opportunity to take a whole farm, based on a law that doesn’t matter
anymore. Go home Todd, your greed is making you overstep.”
Todd shook his head, “We’ve taken out raider groups bigger
than this, most of us are trained officers and know our way around in a
fight. This is your last chance, move your people out now and I’ll allow
it.”
He frowned, “This is my place, not going to happen.”
Todd screamed a war cry, and him and his buddies charged.
He didn’t even bother draining more than a handful, they
stood no chance against the speed and strength of his zombies, and he more than
outnumbered the idiot. A few minutes later he had a hundred and
forty-eight zombie minions, and learned the depressing truth.
They had been no better than a mob shaking down people for protection
money, but on the other hand, they had taken out the local raiders as
well. They just… pushed too hard. They shouldn’t have tried to
attack his people, or taken what was his without a right to do so. The
only thing that made him feel a little guilty, was that a lot of them had
families, ones they would never see again.
Huh… on second thought. He sent those forty new
zombies home, to guard their families, and continue to protect the area,
except… they wouldn’t be taking a cut of everything, because he also put them
to work on their own farm. He figured their families would figure it out
eventually, but he wanted them to act normal, so it wouldn’t be that easy to
detect.
Cassie asked, “What are you thinking about so hard.”
He sighed, “The old saying, if you want something done
right…” he trailed off, and she finished, “Do it yourself.”
One week later
He looked into the city from the edge, right where the
radiation started. He’d decided if they were ever going to truly be safe,
he’d have to make it happen himself. Cassie, his army of zombies, and he
had gone through the L.A. area like a wave. When he found a quiet group
of people working together, pulling together to make it, he left a zombie or
two behind to keep an eye on things. When he came upon a gang of raiders
that had lost their humanity, and only preyed on other humans, he did what was
appropriate.
There were over five hundred zombies behind him, all stuffed
with plenty of extra life force, and out there in front of him, within his range,
he could feel thousands of blank spots, just waiting for him to raise
them. He knew there were millions farther in, but he didn’t have the
range, or power, yet…
He thought that would be a good start though. His
initial plan was the west coast, from where he was, right up to Seattle.
A string of safe communities. He didn’t need to charge taxes, or any of
that bullshit, it was simply time to take out the trash. He’d make it
safe for him, for Cassie, and for all those that wanted to live in peace, no
matter how many ass-hats he had to kill in the process.
He sent his power out into the city, and felt the zombies
rise.
I hope you enjoyed
the story. More is coming for Katie
and the others in this world.

The Dragon
Slayer and the…
This is a series of novelettes in a unique world,
each story will be different characters with HEA endings. These will be
about eighty pages long and priced appropriately. The first book, The
Dragon Slayer and the Princess, is now available:
Sir Lance Spears, Baron, knight dragon hunter, has
been hunting dragons for ten years. It’s what he’s dedicated his life too,
eradicating the dragons that destroy human villages and see humans as prey.
He’s also been alone for ten years, and tired of the women of the peerage that
see nothing of him, only of his titles and money. Not to mention, they all play
the courtly game and faint at his feet. That’s not what he wants. He wants a
challenging intelligent woman who will help make life interesting.
He should have been more careful about what he wished for, as his life is about
to become very complicated as nothing seems to make sense about his next dragon
hunt. It doesn’t fit in his world view as he enters a neighboring kingdom to
help slay a dragon. He’s not sure what’s going on, and he also can’t get a
certain princess with fiery eyes and attitude out of his head either. He better
figure it out though, or he could lose everything… including his life.

partially follows Katie, a young woman raised on a farm, and not incidentally,
Merlin’s descendent and successor. Her and diverse others fight as magic

tatters, technology stops working, and most of the world’s population is
dead. A new era for mankind has started, and they must share what remains
with other races, races of magic, such as elves and dragons.

has never been done before. She will need to deal with many issues she never
had to face before.

Celia Winters Novels, by D. L. Harrison
– This is an
urban fantasy series. Celia is a witch who finds out she is so much more
in the first book, Witch’s Moon. There are no cliffhangers, and each book
will be complete in itself, though because of character development and the
timeline I’d recommend reading them in order.

nothing about, and tries to both handle the present difficulties and find out
about his past.

childhood.

seeing the future and gaining knowledge with his gifts.

Ben's world is about to be turned upside down as he turns
twenty-one, all is not as it seems.
Alicia Jones novels, by D. L. Harrison
is a series
that follows a bright young inventor and scientist named Alicia Jones. It
is a space opera and light science fiction.
The first book is titled
First Contact:
Alicia Jones is a genius, and a little odd. At just
twenty-three years of age, she is close to finishing her doctoral
dissertation. But when she tests her latest theory in the lab to generate
a strong EM field, it has very unanticipated results. Results that lead
to faster than light travel, and first contact with another race.
Her life just gets more complicated after that, when
she finds out who she really is, and that the universe may not be as nice a
place as she’d been told. Her determination to help keep Earth safe takes
her to places more dangerous and strange than she’d ever envisioned.
