“With all of my heart?”

“Do you want to be with anyone else?”

“Never.”

“Well I want to spend my life with you and only you, so I’d say we are married
we just have to make it legal.” She smiled up at him.

“I like the way you think.” She reached up and grabbed the front of his shirt and pulled him down and kissed him.
He kissed her lightly tasting her lips. He felt her fingers on his shirt buttons and then on his skin.

“Angie, maybe we should talk before we complicate things anymore.”  He pulled back and whispered.

“Luke, I love you more than anything.” She reached up and stroked the side of his face.  “I still think that you would be much better off without me, but if you still want to marry me than I absolutely want to marry you. I think everything else we can figure out together. “

“Oh you better believe that I still want to marry you, I have never wanted anything more.”
He smiled and bent and kissed her again.

“Is there anything else you would like to discuss?”

“That was the most important thing.”

“Good then why don’t you come down here?” She pulled on the open edges of his shirt and he smiled and bent his arms that were still holding him up sinking down to the bed with her.
She kissed him as soon as he sank down to her, but the she felt him move off to the side.

“Where are you going?

“I don’t want to hurt you.”

“You’re not going to hurt me,” she laughed.

“You are not all the way healed so just humor me ok
ay.”

“Alright
.” She pushed his shoulder and he rolled onto his back. “I won’t hurt you right?”

“No.” He laughed, she grinned and straddled him pushing his shirt open and splaying her fingers across his chest. The sun was still up so the room was still brightly lit
. It was a different experience than it had been the night before. She bent and kissed him and then moved down kissing his neck the way he had kissed hers. She pulled his earlobe into her mouth and heard the sharp intake of his breath and felt him grip her thighs. He pulled her blouse free of her skirt waist and slipped his hands underneath. He swept his hands over her back and up her sides lightly caressing her breasts. He felt her breath whoosh out in his ear and laughed.  He pushed her blouse and camisole over her head not bothering to unbutton it.  She pulled her arms back tucking them against her sides as she laid back against his chest. She began kissing his neck again but he could feel the subtle difference, the slight tension in her. He cupped her face with his hands and tipped it up.

What’s wrong?” He whispered his brow furrowing.

“Nothing’s wrong.” She smiled at him.

“Angie.” She dropped her face to his chest. “Angie, you know we don’t have to…”

“No, it’s not that
, it’s just really bright in here.” He looked up at the window the drapes were closed but there was still sun streaming through them.

“It light but it’s not…” he looked at her cheeks were slightly flushed and he realized what the problem was, he rolled them both over so he was once again on top of her covering her with his body.

“Angie, you are so beautiful, you have nothing to be embarrassed about.”  He bent and kissed her neck.

“I know I’m just…” She blew out her breath frustrated, she didn’t know why she should have an attack of shyness now.

“Want to put your shirt back on?” He was still kissing her neck and his hot breath as he spoke only made her want to get closer.

“No, I want to feel you.”

“Okay I got it.” He pulled the blanket up on the bed and then rolled them both into the blanket less part of the bed. She laughed as he just tumbled them where he wanted them. He grabbed the blanket and pulled it over both of them. He pulled it all the way over their heads and grinned at her.

“Dark enough for you?” She laughed and ran her hand over his face it was rough with stubble.

“I love you.”

“I love you too.” He bent and kissed her. “How are you going to make love to me underneath every tree on the ranch if
you can’t do it in the daylight?”

“I am sure you’ll figure out something.” She laughed

“You bet I will.” He moved down to her neck leaving a trail of kisses along the column. She felt his hands slide up her sides and over her breasts as he worked his way down. He was amazing, there was nothing he wouldn’t do just to make her more comfortable. He had been doing it all along he had done everything she asked. She thought about how much she had wanted to see him, it was possible that he wanted to see her too and she was hiding from him. She sighed and flipped the blanket down.  His head snapped up and he looked at her.

“What’s the matter?

“Nothing is the matter,” she
looked into his eyes as he moved his face back over hers. “I was just thinking… I am uncomfortable because I have never had anyone look at me, but I love you and if you want to see me then I want you too.”

“Angie, I want to see you, of course I do,” He laughed, “But it is more important to me that you are
comfortable and happy.” She put her hand on his cheek and looked into his eyes.

“I am happy, and you
are going to help me get comfortable.”

“Oh, how am I going to do that?”
She pushed gently on his shoulder and he rolled off her and back onto his back. She took a deep breath and rolled over onto him and sat up. She resisted the urge to cover herself.  Luke sat up putting his arms around her and kissing her neck again.

“You are the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.” He whispered in her ear.  He leaned back to make space and ran his fingers over her full breast. She sighed and shivered from the feel of his calloused fingers on the sensitive skin.
She closed her eyes reveling in the pleasure of his touch.

“Are you alright?” he whispered.

“Uh-huh.” She sighed, barely aware of the question, so focused on the feel of his hands on her breasts and his lips on her neck.

Why are you closing your eyes?” His hot breath as he whispered in her ear did nothing to help her focus on the words.

“Because it feels good.” She whispered back. He laughed and the vibration of the deep rumble made her smile.
She opened her eyes and put her hand on his cheek turning his face to hers, then she kissed him slipping her tongue deep into his mouth he matched her meeting her tongue with his own and leading her in a dance that left her breathless. He turned her and laid her on the bed once again. He rose above her and pushed her skirt down over her hips and off onto the floor then did the same with the rest of his own clothes, she couldn’t resist a look since she hadn’t been able to see the night before.

“Oh my.” She breathed feeling her cheeks warm. “How do you, I mean how can we…?”

“Relax, I won’t hurt you.” He soothed as he climbed back on the bed. She smiled up at him as he slid his arms back around her.

“I know that. I just don’t know how…”

“Well it worked yesterday right?” She grinned as the memory washed over her.

“Yes it did.” She felt his hand run up over her hip and immediately her body was as amped as it had been only moments before. She
put her hands on his chest and let them slide down his abdomen and back up over his shoulders. She felt the muscles in his biceps bunch under her hands as he slid his hands up her sides. She didn’t close her eyes this time, keeping them open to watch him. The way he looked on any given day was enough to give her butterflies in her stomach, but with his chest bare so she could see the outlines of the muscles as he moved, and his hair in disarray and when he looked at her and she could see the desire in his pale eyes, it was intoxicating.  She wrapped her legs around his waist and squeezed trying to draw him in herself and felt the vibration as he laughed, but then he pushed into her. A sound escaped her that she didn’t think she could have made on purpose even if she tried. She arched her back pushing herself against him and her eyes closed on a will of their own, she couldn’t hold them open as she was carried away with each movement.  She could feel him all the way inside of her pressing against the bottom of her womb, it made all the hair on her arms stand up, she wished he could just stay that way, that she could be his human sheath, but she knew he couldn’t she could already feel the pressure building within her he was moving faster then all at once it hit her, the internal explosion that made her pulse and tingle. She had known what to expect and still it caught her off guard. She heard herself cry out but she couldn’t stop it.  He sank down on her and she thought she had never felt as safe as she did in that moment under his body. He started to roll off of her but she tightened her grip.

“Don’t you dare move.” She whispered and he laughed.

“I don’t want to hurt you.”

“You’re not hurting me.” She crossed her ankles locking him in place. He bent and kissed her.

“There is nowhere else I would rather be, you don’t really have to hold me here.” He chuckled.

“Then stop trying to get away.” She said arching a brow at him and he grinned.
He reached back and unhooked one foot and straightened her leg then rolled them both so that she was on top of him. She laid her head down on his chest and sighed.

“You know you’re not very soft but you are surprisingly comfortable.” He laughed and she heard and felt it under her ear.
She loved the sound of his laugh, she could happily listen to it for the rest of her life. She could feel him running his fingers up and down her back and closed her eyes reveling in the warm contentment she was feeling.

Angelica woke with a start surprised she had fallen asleep. Luke was still with her, she was stretched out beside him now with her head on his chest.

“You alright?” Luke whispered.

“Yeah, I didn’t wake you did I?” She had a nightmare that had jerked her awake, she wasn’t sure but she thought she might have physically jerked as well.

“It’s okay.” She sat up holding the blanket to her chest and rubbing her eyes. She didn’t understand how she could go to sleep so happy and then dream such horrible images.

“What time is it?”

“Almost four.”

“Are we going back to the ranch today?” Luke watched her for a few moments before answering. She had her back to him she was sitting up on the bed with her knees pulled up. She was subdued but she was obviously upset too. It was almost as if she was a different person than the one who had fallen asleep on top of him. He sat up and wrapped his arms tightly around her.

“Angie, tell me what you see in your dreams that frightens you so much.” He said softly close to her ear.

“No.” She shook her head adamantly and tried to pull away from him but he held her.

“Angie…”

“Luke I said no.” She said forcefully and pushed his arms off of her.  She
scooted to the edge of the bed and found her underclothes and put them on. “Are we going back to the ranch today?” She asked again but she wasn’t looking at him she was looking for the rest of her clothes. “We could probably make it before dark.” She pulled on her skirt and fastened it.  He continued to watch her, his spirits sank with each second that passed without her looking at him. She felt guilty he could see the regret all over her and it made him feel terrible. He got up and pulled on his pants.

“Is there any point in you going back?” He asked quietly. She stopped, her head snapped up and she finally looked at him.

“What?”

“Angelica, I didn’t come here to bring you back. I damn sure didn’t come here to seduce you and guilt
you into staying. I do not intend to chase you down every time you get the urge to go, so if you want to go you’re free to go.” His voice was as soft as always but his words landed on her like a ton of bricks. He had even called her Angelica, he had never done that before. Her knees suddenly felt weak and she sank down to the edge of the bed.

“Oh, okay.” She said quietly.
She couldn’t look at him so she concentrated on looking for her stockings and her shoes.

“Of course the choice is yours.” She nodded as she quickly pulled her shoes on and tied them. Her chest felt as if it were caving in. She didn’t want him to see her cry she just wanted to get as far away as possible.

“Obviously I misunderstood. I was under the impression that you wanted me there.” She wasn’t all put back together but she had all of her clothes back on and she thought that was good enough, she picked up her bag and reached for the door Luke caught her arm just above her elbow in a viselike grip.

“I do.”

“Let go, I thought you said I was free to go.” She said angrily still not looking at him.

“I do want you there
, but I am not interested in being your self-imposed penance.  You think you can make up for the sins of your father by doing some kind of charity work, well you’re just going to have to find yourself another charity.” Her chest burned from the effort she was making to hold back the tears but she managed to keep her head high, her eyes focused on the door and her only means of escape.
