“Oh, Brandon. I’m ready for you.”

“I need protection.”

He reached into his pocket and pulled out a condom. Jada sat up on the back of her hands as he did, and leaned forward, licking the tip of his dick. It tasted good. Like pure desire. Brandon growled, a long throaty groan.

“I’m going to take you, my love. I’m going to
take
you like you’ve never been taken before.”

Jada let go of his shaft and he rolled the condom down. His organ was big, Jada thought, bigger than any she’d ever seen and she didn’t know whether she would be able to take it all in.

“Tell me you want me, Jada. Tell me this is something you need, too.”

“Yes, Brandon, I need you. Take me, please.”

He sank his fingers back into her tight pussy. Jada knew she was wet, maybe wetter than she’d ever been. All she wanted, all she’d ever wanted, was there before her. She wiggled her hips forward, over the front of the car, arching her back up toward him. Her wet sex rubbed against him. She needed him inside of her now.

“You want me, baby?”

“I want you, Brandon. I want all of you. Don’t me make me beg. Please…”

She picked up a leg and curled it around his back, drawing him nearer. He got the idea, moving down onto his strong arms until he was hovering just above her. She wrapped her other leg around him, arching her back even higher, rubbing her wide open lips on the underside of his shaft.

Brandon bent lower and kissed her deeply, thrusting his tongue inside her mouth. At the same time he grabbed her behind with both hands, a palm for each cheek.

“I know I’m big,” he warned. “I don’t want to hurt you.”

“Then go slow,” she said. “Gentle and slow.”

Jada felt him flex his hips back, and then he entered her, driving into her like a freight train. Powerful. Unrelenting. She bit down on her lip and moaned as he kept sinking his massive member into her. She didn’t know whether the plunge would ever end as he sank deeper and deeper. Finally, the air rushed from her lungs as he bottomed out inside of her, the walls of her wet channel clinging tightly to his shaft.

Her channel was slick and the entry was tight, but it felt so right. She had never been so filled up, so one with another. It both completed her and frightened her at the same time. She squeezed him with her pussy muscles. What would happen when he pulled out, would she ever feel this way again?

“Ahh!” Brandon growled.

He flexed his hips and pulled out of her, her slick walls clinging to every inch of his cock as he went. He pulled all the way outside of her, right to the tip. She draped her hands around his neck, thrusting her hips up to his, pulling him nearer again. He pushed inside her again, harder this time, more forcefully. Jada felt like her pussy was on fire. Arousal saturated her core. She opened her eyes to look at him. Brandon stared back at her and pulled back out before plunging in again. Her hips met his, flexing upward. Passion coiled within them both as they thrust together, finding their rhythm.

“Harder, Brandon. Fuck me harder.”

“I will.”

“Fuck my pussy. Fuck me like you’ve never fucked anybody before.”

The tension in her core radiated outward, getting hotter and tighter with every thrust. She didn’t know whether she could take any more. Didn’t know whether she could stand having him, having all of him, inside of her any longer. Her hands moved down his neck and along his back, her nails clawing him, claiming him, as his fingers dug into her soft behind. He kneaded her cheeks, biting into her lip.

“Oh, Brandon!”

“Now, Jada!”

“I need to come! Make me come!”

He thrust into her and words failed her. The tension coiled outward, waves of pleasure running out from her core to her extremities. He kept thrusting, and the spasms kept rocking her world, emanating out farther, longer, deeper. Then the dam deep within her finally broke loose in a magnificent spasm of desire as they released together.

Explosions rocked her body. Not vibrations. Explosions. They blew outward as her tight channel squeezed his cock. She struggled to breathe as her muscles fell slack. The explosions kept rocking her core again and again. It was as though she’d been blown to bits, as though there was nothing left of her but wave after wave of pure, liquid pleasure. Jada watched the fine lines on Brandon’s face relax as he let go of every last bit of tension in a single, loud, long groan.

“You’ll be mine, Jada. I want you to be mine.”

“I will be yours, Brandon.”

The taught energy between them seemed to dissolve into hot, honeyed dew. He ran his hands up her back until he grasped her shoulders, thrusting deep within her but not letting go. He kept himself there until they melted into each other, until they were one. They both lay there for a long moment.

“I love your soft curves, Jada. I love everything about you.”

“I love you too,” Jada managed to whisper.

“I need to talk to you,” Brandon said. “I need to tell you about something important.”

“You don’t need to say anything. Not right now. Just lay here with me.”

They lay together on the hood of the car, and Jada felt full, content. She glanced toward the showroom window, but they were well shielded from view. Brandon got up.

“Brandon?”

“Relax. I’ll be back.”

Jada lay there blissfully, and a few moments later Brandon returned with a hot wet towel. He had removed his condom, his manhood now standing at half-mast. He wiped the warm cloth between her legs and over her warm sex. It felt good to have him care for her like that.

“What was it you wanted to say to me?”

“Later, Jada.”

Jada thought she detected some hesitation in Brandon’s voice, but she let it go. It was as though he had thought better of whatever he had planned to say. Give the man time, she thought. He’d come around. Brandon lay back down on the hood of the car and scooped his arm around her shoulders, bringing her cheek to his chest.

“For now, let’s just lie here together. Let’s lie here as one.”

Jada rubbed her fingers over his hard, rippled muscles and closed her eyes. She was with Brandon, the man she had always wanted. She refused to allow anything to ruin the moment. It was like a dream.

Chapter Five

Brandon and Jada got dressed and parted ways. Even though Brandon wanted to stay with her, even though every fiber of his being called out to stay with her, he couldn’t. Not tonight. Earlier he had committed to a meeting with his father and he was already late. His father hated it when he was late, and he hated to disappoint the old man. He had told Jada as much and she seemed to understand. But what he hadn’t told her about was his secret.

The woman who Jada had seen him with had been his therapist, that much was true. But he hadn’t told Jada the whole story. He hadn’t told her that she was a therapist with a healthy dose of shifter blood. Not bear blood, to be sure, she was too small and thin for that. Probably wolf or coyote, though she had never shared her exact lineage. Her name was Dr. Marion, and though she couldn’t shift herself, she knew shifters, and she knew that there were enough of them out there that she could specialize in issues that only they faced.

Dr. Marion worked with all sorts of shifter populations. Bears, of course, were well represented in her practice. Brandon could often smell their scent in the waiting room before he went in for a session. Brandon had first come into contact with Dr. Marion through a referral from another bear in the city. Brandon had been having problems regarding how to integrate his bear into his life. The other bear had quickly referred him to the doctor.

Once Brandon had started seeing her, Dr. Marion had helped him a lot. She told him that he needed to let his bear out to run, and she explained that sometimes he needed to let his bear make the rules. Brandon’s bear was strong within him. Too strong to repress and too strong to hide. Brandon needed to be his true bear. That was the key to a happy, healthy life. The sessions had been going well, but when Brandon had called Dr. Marion late last night, his problem had been much more urgent. And though it was unusual for Dr. Marion to travel to meet a client, she had agreed to come. A phone session might have been faster, but Brandon wanted to meet her in person. He wanted to be sure that nothing was lost in translation.

Brandon had called Dr. Marion because things were moving so fast with Jada. Too fast. Brandon knew that he had found the one in Jada and he wanted to tell her about his bear. But he needed a strategy to do so. Obviously, what he had to tell her wasn’t run-of-the-mill stuff. It was a delicate matter. Brandon didn’t want to freak Jada out. He didn’t want to scare her away. He couldn’t afford to—not with his future mate. Fortunately, Dr. Marion had counseled shifters on this difficult fact of shifter life before. And she had some tips.

Tip One—the temptation would be high, but don’t talk about your bear after sex. She’d had other clients do this and the results were, more often than not, disastrous. Brandon cringed inwardly as he remembered how he’d almost violated this piece of advice.

Tip Two—try to provide a safe, kind, loving environment. One that his proposed mate could leave if she felt insecure or unsafe. Make it a public place. Somewhere his mate could be in control.

And Tip Three—if she freaked out, let her. Introducing humans to the shifter world wasn’t impossible but it required patience. Lots of patience. As soon as Brandon admitted what he was, the ball would be in Jada’s court. He couldn’t rush it.

“What was tip four?” his dad asked.

“There was no tip four, Dad.”

“Well, why not? You’ve got three tips. Seems like a fourth might help.”

Even though Brandon had gone home to his father’s giant log cabin to discuss business, sure enough they ended up discussing Jada. He knew his father could tell from the minute he walked in the door that Brandon wasn’t on his A-game, so Brandon had just let it all out. He told him about Jada. He told him that he thought he’d found his mate but that he still needed to tell her what he was.

“My advice?” his crusty old father said.

“Sure.”

“Forget the psychiatry. If she’s the one, don’t worry about telling her.”

“How can you say that?”

“Trust me. If she’s the one, she’ll figure it out.”

“That I’m a bear shifter? You think she’ll just figure that out?”

“Yes, I do. Because on some level she already knows.”

“I don’t think so, Dad. It’s not like I’m telling her my favorite color is red or I like to watch cooking shows. We’re bear shifters. We’re not exactly common.”

“Give Jada some credit. If she’s the one, she’ll be able to deal with whatever you tell her.”

“And when it comes time to mark her?”

“She may need to know a few of the details, but trust me, she’ll deal with that, too.”

“And how do you know?”

“Because your mother did.”

Brandon’s heart pained at the thought of his mother. The sharp stab in his gut hurt even now, several years later. They had lost Brandon’s mom four years ago to a mystery ailment. Being mated to a shifter meant that his mother was generally thought immune to disease. After all, once mated, the spouses of bears lived a very long time. But in spite of this immunity, a terrible sickness had taken his mother from him and his brothers. Afterward, his father had been increasingly withdrawn, and that, Brandon thought, was the real reason he had been asked to come home. His father finally realized he needed a son at his side.

“Take my advice, Son,” his dad said. “Don’t worry so much about telling her. Just tell her. If she’s the one, she’ll understand.”

Upon those words, and with new resolve in his heart, Brandon thanked his father and went to sleep dreaming of Jada. He would keep Dr. Marion’s advice in mind, but he would tell Jada the next day. He would tell her that they were meant for each other.

************************

Jada’s alarm beeped, but she had already been awake for some time. She lay in bed not sure what to think about Brandon. The truth was, she was more confused than ever. Sex in the hot spring. Afterward, nothing. Sex on the hood of a Lamborghini. Afterward, nothing. Brandon had said he had to meet with his dad, and that sounded reasonable, but the therapist? Who ever heard of a traveling therapist?

Jada, calm down, girl. You’re getting way too worked up over this guy.

But Jada reflected on the way he made her feel. So right. She got wet just thinking about his chiseled abs, his rock-solid arms, and his other parts… Today was Friday, the last day of work before the weekend, and she made up her mind. She was going to go on a date with Brandon, a proper date like she should have done so many years ago. And she wasn’t going to leave anything to chance. If he didn’t ask her, well then, she’d just have to ask him.

With that thought in mind, Jada jumped out of bed to greet the day. She showered, hot water washing Brandon’s scent off her, even though all she really wanted was to be covered in it all over again. She picked a more conservative outfit for the day. She already knew that he found her sexy. Let him use his imagination this time. She chose a tailored pantsuit and a pair of gold hoop earrings and her yellow silk scarf to match. Sometimes a girl need to go a little upscale just to keep people guessing.

Jada had a quick bowl of cereal for breakfast and considered the day ahead. What was she forgetting? Oh yeah, dry cleaning. She pulled out her receipt. It was supposed to be ready this morning. Jada placed her cereal bowl in the sink and jumped in the car. As she headed down the road to work, her mind wandered to what she would wear on her date with Brandon. Sure, the date wasn’t exactly in the bag yet, but why not be prepared? In fact, thinking about it, the short green dress she had to pick up from the dry cleaner’s would probably work. The dress complemented by a her new suede pumps wouldn’t be bad at all. Not too sexy but not too conservative, either. The outfit showed off just the right amount of mocha skin and more than enough curve. She hoped that Herb the dry cleaner had been able to get the stain out of the fabric.

Herb, Jada reflected, had been doing more and more business since the seasonal residents had started moving to town. The ski lodge people seemed to have an unlimited number of black-tie events to attend and not nearly enough clean clothes. Jada turned into the lot behind the tiny shop and looked for her dry-cleaning ticket. Damn, she’d left it on the table at home. She got out of her car and headed inside anyhow, explaining that she’d forgotten her receipt.
