2 cups broccoli, cut into bite-sized pieces

1. Combine all ingredients except broccoli in slow cooker.

2. Cover. Cook on Low 8-10 hours.

3. Add broccoli 30 minutes before serving.

Baked Chicken Breasts

Ideal slow-cooker size: 2- to 3½-qt.

2-3 whole chicken breasts, halved

2 Tbsp. butter,
or
margarine

10¾-oz. can cream of chicken soup

½ cup dry sherry

1 tsp. dried tarragon,
or
rosemary,
or
both

1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce

¼ tsp. garlic powder

4-oz. can sliced mushrooms, drained

1. Place chicken breasts in slow cooker.

2. In saucepan, combine remaining ingredients. Heat until smooth and hot. Pour over chicken.

3. Cover. Cook on Low 8-10 hours.

Use your slow cooker to cook a hen, turkey, or roast beef (in 1 cup liquid) for use in salads or casseroles. The meat can even be frozen when you put it in the slow cooker. Set the cooker on Low, and let the meat cook all night while you sleep.

lemon juice

pepper to taste

celery salt to taste

paprika to taste

10¾-oz. can cream of mushroom soup

10¾-oz. can cream of celery soup

⅓ cup dry sherry,
or
white wine

grated Parmesan cheese

1. Season chicken with lemon juice, salt, pepper, celery salt, and paprika. Place in slow cooker.

2. Combine soups with sherry. Pour over chicken. Sprinkle with cheese.

3. Cover. Cook on Low 8-10 hours.

Serving suggestion: Serve with
rice

Chicken in Wine

1 cup dry white wine,

chicken broth

1. Put chicken in slow cooker.

2. Combine soups and wine. Pour over chicken.

3. Cover. Cook on Low 6-8 hours.

Sunday Chicken

Prep Time: 20-30 minutes

Cooking Time: 7-8 hours

Ideal slow-cooker size: 6-qt.

7 lbs. chicken, cut up

paprika

salt

pepper

2 10¾-oz. cans condensed cream of celery soup

¾ cup white wine,
or
chicken broth

1. Rinse chicken in cold water.

2. Pat dry.

3. Sprinkle paprika, salt, and pepper on chicken.

4. Combine soup and wine, or broth, in a medium bowl.

5. Place half of chicken in slow cooker.

6. Spoon half of soup mixture over chicken.

7. Layer in rest of chicken.

8. Spoon rest of soup mixture over top.

9. Cover. Cook 4 hours on High. Reset cooker to Low and continue cooking, covered, 4 more hours, or until chicken is tender but not dry.

Chicken in Mushroom Gravy

4-oz. can sliced mushrooms, drained

1. Place chicken in slow cooker. Season with salt and pepper.

2. Combine wine and soup. Pour over chicken. Top with mushrooms.

3. Cover. Cook on Low 7-9 hours.

Ruth’s Slow-Cooker Chicken

6 boneless chicken breast halves

10¾-oz. can cream of mushroom soup

1 pkg. dry mushroom soup mix

¼-½ cup sour cream

4-oz. can mushrooms, drained

1. Combine chicken, soup, and soup mix in slow cooker.

2. Cover. Cook on Low 6-8 hours.

3. Just before serving, stir in sour cream and mushrooms. Reheat briefly.

Serving suggestion: Serve on
noodles
.

Note:

Leftover sauce makes a flavorful topping for grilled hamburgers.
