Epilogue One year later:
Max
I’m pretty sure you want to know what happened next, right? We all lived happily ever after. No really we did. It turns out that our first night together ended up being more than just making love the first time. It’s also when we created a child together. Now I’m a daddy and a husband.
“Max, come on,” Breezy shouts. She’s standing outside the warehouse wearing the biggest smile on her face. It’s our grand opening. Dashawn and I are now the proud owners of our very own gym. Contitude gym is having its grand opening today. Using our philosophy of working out and losing weight being a combination of confidence and attitude, we combined the two together to make the name. It’s kind of surreal owning half a gym. At first I was apprehensive. The thought of owning my own business wasn’t something I had ever pictured for myself. Now that I’m standing in front of the building, overlooking everything I helped create from the ground up, I’m overwhelmed.
Dashawn is standing near the ribbon with the mayor of our town holding a giant pair of scissors. The plan is for both of us to cut it together, but I’m distracted by my beautiful wife and adorable son standing off to the side with Maggie and Everly. Breezy is holding our son. It’s crazy to think back at how we found out. It was one month after the karaoke bar. We were sitting in the living room watching a movie when Breezy suddenly jumped up with a crazy look her in eye.
“I’m late,” she told me.
“For what?” I asked her, not really understanding.
“You know, like
late
.”
It took me a second to comprehend what she was telling me, When it finally hit, I was flabbergasted. We immediately went to the store and bought seven pregnancy tests. I’ve never seen so many pink lines and piss in my entire life. The months that followed were crazy. We eloped in Vegas almost immediately. Maggie, Tony, Emma, Dashawn, my parents, and Everly joined us. To say my parents were thrilled with both the pregnancy and marriage would be an understatement. They’ve always wanted Breezy to be a part of our family. When her parents died, they kind of adopted her as part of the family anyway. Now that she has my
not a gazillion
karat ring on her finger, her adoption into our family is official, and they got that second daughter they always wanted.
I thought getting married might be a big transition for Breezy and me, but we act just like we always do, with sex of course—lots and lots of sex—mind-blowing sex—perfect sex. That’s probably a little more information than I should share, but it’s true. Our sex is the best I’ve ever had, and will ever have, for the rest of my life.
The minute we found out we were going to be parents, I went and put a down payment on a house and invested my half into the gym. Breezy is working for a new law firm. It’s a new practice opened up by that guy Dane that started working with Breezy right before she had her meltdown. Thankfully, he gave her a chance, because without her insurance, our baby-making funds would be screwed.
“Max, get up here,” Dashawn yells at me.
I shoot my wife a pained look, because all I want to do is kiss her right now. She waves at me, holding up our son for me to see. The smile on her face is filled with pride. As Dashawn and I cut the ribbon for our grand opening, she cheers and whistles as loud as she can.
“We did it man,” Dashawn says with tears in his eyes. I never pegged him as a crier, but seeing him with vulnerable happy tears makes me emotional as well. I give him a manly hug, because that’s the only kind of hugs men of our size can give, and quickly pull away.
Then we push open the doors and invite people into Contitude.
Dashawn immediately wraps his arms around Maggie and ushers her inside. She’s a totally different person now, size wise anyway. She’s the perfect weight for her height, and so much healthier than she was when I first met her. She still has her spunky personality, and unfortunately for me, has become best friends with both Breezy and my sister. I’m surrounded by a trifecta of funny women who have no problem giving me a hard time.
“Well, hello mister business owner,” Breezy smiles, when I move through the crowd over to where she’s standing. I bend in and give our son a kiss before my lips are on hers. She pulls away when my mother clears her throat and Everly giggles. “I am so proud of you, and so is Braxton.”
As if on cue, our son lets out a giggle and coos in her arms, waving his hands wildly. We combined our names and settled on Braxton James McGowan when we named him. I didn’t think it was possible to fall in love at first sight, but I have now, twice in my lifetime: once with his mother, and now with him.
“Have I told you lately that I love you two?” I ask her, taking Braxton’s hand and letting him squeeze my finger. This kid has great grip strength; he may be a rock climber when he gets older.
“Yes, but I love it when you do.”
“I love a lot of things you do. I’m thinking we can do some of those things tonight.”
“You do realize we don’t have alone time anymore right? Between Braxton and the new puppy, our time together is nonexistent.” Yes, I actually gave in and bought Breezy a stupid puppy . . . and guess who picks up the poop? This guy. What can I say? I love the little shit—even if he’s chewed up my shoes, has a fetish for tearing up Kleenexes, and slobbers everywhere. Technically, I made the first move when we had sex, and I got my kiss. It’s only fair that I gave her what she wanted, too. I totally lose my man-card every single time I walk our fluffy little labradoodle named Charlie.
“That’s okay, Mom is taking Braxton for the night, and I’m going to make sure that the bed is not the only thing filled tonight.”
She smacks my shoulder. “Max, stop it.”
“Stop what?”
“I think we’re past the innuendo game now, aren’t we?”
“I happen to like innuendos. They’re what finally brought us together.”
“I thought that was sexual frustration and attraction.”
“Sure, be literal about it. But if I remember correctly, it was your fascination with my balls, and my fascination with your melons, that got the
ball
s rolling,” I laugh over my own joke.
“Not to mention doing me from behind, and handling your wood like a champ.”
“God, I’m getting hard just thinking about you handling my wood.”
“Well, you know how I like your wood stiff and hard,” She grins.
My mom picks that exact moment to pluck Braxton out of Breezy’s arms. “My grandson doesn’t need to hear his parent’s weird idea of foreplay. You two have fun tonight. Remember, I’m hoping for a granddaughter next time.”
Breezy and I exchange an equally appalled look.
“Thanks Mom, but I think one baby and our new fur baby is enough for right now. Give us a couple years.”
“Well, I thought I would let you know, seeing as you’re about to handle my son’s wood again,” she winks.
“Moooom,” I scold her.
“Have fun, you two.”
“Well, Mrs. McGowan, how shall we start our evening tonight?”
She gets an evil look in her eye, and I don’t wait for her answer. I already know exactly what she wants.
“Fine, I’ll get the popcorn and M&M’s.”
“Don’t forget the chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream.”
“Never, Baby.”
She kisses me hard and my arms immediately wind around her waist.
“How’d I get so lucky?” she asks breaking free of our kiss.
“I don’t know, because I ask myself the same question every day.” She blushes a little bit and squeezes me tightly.
“I love you, Max.”
“I love you too, Breezy.”
A Message from Max . . .
See a happily ever after just like I said . . . now go find someone else’s story to read. I heard Maggie and Dashawn have a great touching story to tell. Tony and Emma have some serious heat and friction in theirs. Even my damn sister has something to say, only it’s in a foreign accent. Why are you still reading this? Our story has ended. Now go, shoo, I have a woman to woo, and baby to take care of.
Max out . . .
A Note from the Author
The idea for Innuendos came from a Facebook picture one of my favorite authors, Dawna Raver posted. It was a picture of a man in leather and the picture said. “I gently slid her panties to the side . . . so that I could fit her socks into the drawer.” I thought this was hilarious and ended up commenting on the picture, “What if someone wrote a whole book with nothing, but innuendos in it. From there I couldn’t stop writing,
and soon Breezy and Max were brought to life.
Now the book has turned into four separate ideas that I’m hoping to finish over the next couple years.
Accent Hussy
will be the next book in the series and will involve Max’s little sister Everly. I also plan on writing a book for Maggie and Dashawn, as well as a book for Tony and Emma.
I had a lot of fun writing
Innuendos
. It’s made me laugh, almost made me cry, and definitely captured my heart. I hope you will want to read more in the
It Had 2 B U Series
. Please keep an eye out for
Accent Hussy
coming April 2016!
Thanks for reading
Innuendos!
