A moment later, Kevin thrust up with a groan, holding her hips tight against his as he came.

They stayed still, only breathing for nearly a minute before she slumped forward, her forehead on his shoulder.

“Okay. That was pretty darned good,” he said, running his hands up and down her back. “What do you think? Worth fourteen years?”

She laughed and lifted her head. “Honestly, it makes me mad that we haven’t been doing that twice a day for the past fourteen years.”

He met her gaze and she saw a mix of emotions—heat, regret, and, yes, love.

“I know what you mean.”

His voice sounded like maybe he was choked up and she had to clear her throat to say, “I guess we’ll have to do it four times a day for the next fourteen to make up for it.”

He drew a deep breath and gave her a smile that made her heart ache. Fourteen years she’d been without that smile, his voice, his touch.

“I think that’s a fantastic idea,” he said, pulling her close and kissing her forehead.

Fourteen years. Fourteen years she could have been with him, talking, laughing, watching TV, going on vacation…so many things. Fourteen years was a long time in a married couple’s life. They could have remodeled a kitchen, bought two or three cars and—she felt tears prickle and she had to blink rapidly—they could have a child celebrating double digit birthdays by now.

A child.

After fourteen years they would definitely have had kids.

She lifted her head and stared at him. Kids. She wanted kids. Correction, she wanted
Kevin’s
kids.

Then she realized… They hadn’t used a condom. She glanced at the nightstand. It hadn’t even occurred to her.

“We didn’t use a condom,” he said.

Oh, so he’d realized that too. “Yeah, I was just thinking of that.”

The corner of his mouth curled. “You’re supposed to think of it
before
climbing on.”

She climbed
off
and
arched an eyebrow. “I didn’t hear you screaming at me to stop and wait.”

“The minute I kissed you I wasn’t thinking of anything else,” he admitted.

“And I was trying to keep myself from going down on you so I wasn’t thinking about condoms.”

Too late—far, far too late—she realized what she’d admitted.

Kevin made a strange choking sound.

She frowned. “You okay?”

“Did you say ‘going down on you’?”

She bit her bottom lip but nodded.

“As in…”

“Blow job,” she clarified. It looked like Kevin was going to learn at least one thing about her past experience.

“Blow j…” he started to repeat, as if in awe. “You were trying to
keep
from doing that?”

“Yeah.”

“Was it difficult?”

“Extremely.”

He stared at her, then pushed himself up to sitting. “You
wanted
to give me a blow job and held yourself back?”

“Yes.”

“Why?”

“I…” Oh, boy. Why was this so hard? He’d been with other women. It had been a
long
time since they’d been together. Did he really think she hadn’t been with anyone else? There was one way to find out.

“I wasn’t sure how you’d feel about it.”

He blinked three times. “Okay. For the record, I’m very much in favor of blow jobs.”

She couldn’t help it—she laughed. “I meant, I wasn’t sure how you’d feel about me knowing how to do that.”

“Oh.” He looked stunned.

It seemed that he hadn’t really given that much thought.

“I thought maybe you wouldn’t want to know…”

“Yeah,” he interrupted, “you’re right. I don’t want to know.”

“You don’t?”

“No. I don’t want to know that just like I’m not going to think about how well you did up on top for your first time.”

“But that wasn’t…” She trailed off as she realized what he was doing. He wanted to
pretend
that was her first time in that position. Ooookay. If that worked for him, great. “That wasn’t that hard to figure out,” she said instead. “I followed my instincts. And you were great about showing me what to do.”

“Right,” he said, slowly nodding his head. “I showed you. Okay, tell you what. How about I tell you how to give me a blow job and you follow my instructions.”

She thought about that. Pretend she didn’t know how? Let him pretend it was a first for her? That could actually be really hot. Hearing Kevin tell her what he liked, how and where he wanted her tongue, how deep to go, how much suction he liked, where to put her hands. Oh yeah, this could work out really well.

“Let’s start now,” she said eagerly, bouncing on the mattress. “I’ve always really been curious about those.”

He grinned. “I think I can help you out with that.”

Sure enough, it looked like he was recovering quickly.

She turned so she was kneeling beside him. “How do I start?”

“Wrap your hand around me.”

She started to reach, then decided she was going to really play this up. “Are you sure?” she asked. “You’re so big.”

He chuckled and reached for her hand. “It’s okay, you can do it.” He guided her hand to his waiting cock and wrapped her fingers around his shaft. “Like that,” he said. “Firm but gentle.”

She squeezed slightly and he breathed in. “Yeah.”

“Now what?”

“Move your hand up and down. Like this.” His hand cupped the back of hers and slid it up and down in a long stroke.

“Maybe you should do it and I’ll watch,” she suggested, her voice a little breathy. She’d love to watch Kevin touch himself. She pulled her hand away and he did as she asked, gliding along his length with long, sure strokes.

His eyes were on her as he did it.

“Keep going,” she urged when he slowed.

“I can’t get my mouth down there,” he said. Then he smiled. “If I could, I might never leave my house.”

She snorted. “You and every other man on the planet.”

“That’s why we need girls. Why I need you.”

“That’s the only reason?” she teased before wetting her lips.

“No. But at the moment I can’t think of any of the others.” His attention was on her mouth.

“Then we’d better take care of this before you lose any more oxygen to your brain. What do I do next?”

“Come here.”

She leaned in and he lifted his middle finger to her mouth. “Suck.”

She let him slide his finger past her lips, their gazes locked. She closed her lips around his finger, pressed her tongue against it and sucked. He slid his finger in and out, slowly, the heat in his eyes holding her mesmerized.

“Like that,” he said roughly.

When he pulled his finger free, she grabbed his wrist and dragged her tongue up and down the length of his wet finger. Then she swirled her tongue around the tip.

“Can I do that too?” she asked.

He cleared his throat. “Sure. That would work.”

His other hand was still on his cock, though unmoving. As she leaned back from his finger, he held his erection up proud. “Try it.”

She leaned over, trying to go slow, trying to play it up for him. Really she wanted to go to town, make him squirm and cry out her name. Anything she could do to pleasure Kevin, she was more than happy to oblige.

She swirled her tongue around the head and he sucked in a lungful of air.

Then she ran her tongue down the front, like she’d done on his finger. Air hissed out between his teeth.

“Is that okay?” she asked, looking up at him.

He nodded. “Now do it again, but put your hand here.”

He guided her hand to his balls. Smiling to herself, she repeated the action twice more, then a third while cupping and massaging. He was breathing hard, his hips trying to thrust upward. But he was fighting for control.

“Now what?” she asked.

“Take me in your mouth.”

Hearing him instruct her made heat wash over her. She wrapped her hand around the base of his erection and put her mouth to the top, letting the tip slide between her lips.

“Eve,” he breathed.

Oh, she definitely liked this. This was going on the twice-a-day-list too.

“I’m doing okay?” she asked.

“Yes. More. Take more.”

She let him slide further into her mouth.

“Now suck me.” His fingers were in her hair, holding it back away from her face, so he could watch what she was doing.

She sucked once, reveled in his moan, then sucked harder on the tip.

“More. Take me in.”

She did. Kevin was a big guy so there was no way she could take him all, but she gave it her best.

Yes
.”

He arched and she relaxed, letting him in further.

Damn
.”

She loved doing this to him. Kevin didn’t lose control often and she guessed it was even rarer now in adulthood, with his more conservative beliefs. In fact, it had probably been a really long time since
anyone
had done this to him. She loved it even more with that realization. The idea that other woman had been like this, had put their mouths here, had drawn those groans and sighs from him, stuck a knife of jealousy deep in her chest and she sucked harder.

“Yes. Now faster,” he urged, his hand cupping the back of her head.

She increased the tempo with both her hand and her mouth, caressing his full length each time. She took him deep, stroked him hard, until finally he said, “Enough.”

She looked up in surprise. He hadn’t come. It wasn’t enough.

“Eve, enough,” he repeated when he saw she was going to argue.

“But—”

“Come here.”

He pulled her up his body, nudged her onto her back, and spread her legs. His fingers slid into her body without any warning and she cried out. She was wet and swollen and ready for him, her nerves dancing.

“You really do like doing that, don’t you?” he asked, pumping his fingers deep, feeling how much he’d turned her on.

“Yes, yes,” she gasped.

He remembered to reach for a condom this time, sheathed himself and then, still on his side facing her, drew her leg up and over his hip, then thrust forward, sinking deep.

It was a vulnerable position for her, spread open, on her back with him at her side. But it allowed him to see everything he wanted to see, which seemed to be
everything.

His finger found her clit and he watched himself circle and rub until she came apart with an orgasm that seemed to thunder from the depths of her body.

Then he thrust harder and deeper and faster until his climax took him over the edge too.

When he caught his breath he cuddled her close, burying his face in her hair. “You’re a fast learner,” he said near her ear.

She laughed lightly. “Good instructions.”

He was quiet for a moment. Then he said, “Maybe we should talk about a few things.”

Oh, boy. She didn’t try to shift or turn. “Like what?”

“As much as I’d love to believe that there’s been no one else, and while I
really
don’t need a lot of details, I suppose it makes sense that we talk about some things.”

“Some guys?” she asked.

“I guess.” He didn’t sound excited about it. “There have been some?”

“Yes,” she said softly.

“More than one?”

“Yes.”

“Less than…forty?”

She laughed in surprise. “Um, yes.”

“Okay, so we’ll go with two.”

She laughed again. “Two, huh?”

“That’s more than one and less than forty.”

She cuddled in closer but neither made a move to make eye contact. “Okay.”

“Anybody serious?” he asked, running his hand over her hip.

“Serious?” She thought about that. “Kind of. Maybe. I guess.”

“You fell for someone?”

She took a deep breath. “No. Not that.” She’d never been in love with anyone else. At least, not compared to what she felt for Kevin. “But almost that.”

“How many?”

“Two. One and a half,” she corrected. “I was serious about Zach at the time. We were together for a long time—two years—but looking back it was a lot more about wanting to be with someone rather than really wanting to be with him.”

“When was that?”

This was weird. Things were intense between them and they were talking about the future as if it was definitely going to happen with comments like making love four times a day for the next fourteen years. But were they solid? She was. For sure. She wanted Kevin, for good, no matter what. But where was he? Was he feeling the strength of emotion between them? Was it enough to make him care less about the changes in her and focus on the things that were the same… or better?

“I met Zach at the end of my sophomore year.” That would have been almost two years after Kevin had left. Two years after they’d gotten married.
