“You still think that I tricked you Nikias?”, Diona said, her voice suddenly so cold.  “God I can’t believe I let you do this to me again”, she cried, moving to the other side of the bed before he could stop her.  “I didn’t trick you”, she bit out, seeing how his expression hardened.  “What the hell does it matter now? You got what you wanted - they are married” His eyes furrowed, his expression one of annoyance.  “Come back to bed Diona”

She however, was busy pulling her dress back on, her eyes filling with angry tears, which she
wiped away with the back of her hand as she tried to pull her clothes back on with fingers which shook so hard that she was struggling to do up the clip at the back of her neck.  As she stood with her back to him, she heard him move quickly from the bed, coming to stand behind her.

“Why are we arguing Diona?”, he muttered so softly against her, “Come back to bed, we can talk about everything in the morning”.  His hands gently moved her hair over her shoulder before pulling her tightly against him, his mouth pressed in a soft kiss against the nape of her neck.

As angry as she was with him, the instant his lips touched her skin she
shuddered so violently with the sensations which swamped her, feeling as her dress slipped from her fingers to once again swish its way to the floor.  She could feel the hardness of him digging into her back, and as his hands moved to cup her breasts she groaned with the need for him once more filling her, all thoughts other than the need to be with him disappearing.

They
made love once more, Nikias gentle as he explored her body with his mouth, hands and tongue, making Diona move so sensually with him as they lost themselves in the need for the other.  When he once more entered her, he moved against her, his body so firm and sure, his movements driving her wild beneath him until she once more erupted.  With such sweet and almost painful sensations ripping through her, blackness momentarily took Diona, unaware as she cried out, her whole body arching against his.  As she beat against him, he lost the last thread of restraint, climaxing with her, his final thrust releasing deep within her soft body as he cried out in Greek, words which she neither heard nor understood.

Looking down at her still
-impassioned face, he was not able to speak, such emotions tearing through him.  How he wanted this woman, how she raised in him the most primitive wild sensations, making him want her even more.  Slowly moving from her, he pulled her into his arms, feeling as both their fast-beating hearts took so long to slow down as did their ragged breathing, their slick sweating bodies cooling from the fires which engulfed them both.

Looking up at him
, Diona felt completely drained; her arms moved around his waist wanting to feel him against her even for only this short time.  Softly closing her eyes, with exhaustion filling every part of her, she fell into a deep sleep.  He watched as she slept against him, an anger coming to him as he remembered how she clung to her story of innocence.  He trusted her once before, despite the evidence so strongly stacked against her, and ended up playing right into her hands.  However, things had changed.  So why did she still hold on to this veneer of innocence, did she really think that he cared?  All he cared about was bringing her back with him.

He
had spent six months regretting letting her go.  Each and every day he remembered the way she felt, tasted and smelled, and he tried to forget her with other women, but none had even come close to making him feel the way she could with just a look from those blue eyes.  Now that she was once more in his bed, he had no intention of letting her go.  He would make her see that being his mistress would be a good thing - that she could have whatever she wanted if she was to fulfil this role for him.  The fact that they were now related by marriage to him meant nothing, only the fact that he wanted this woman with every fibre of his being.

However, with a frown he wondered about this other man.  When he
bent down and kissed her lovely lips, Nikias was overcome with jealousy which swept through him, making his head spin with the intensity of it.  He wanted to go over and drag her away from him, pulling her into his arms and claiming possession of her in a very caveman- like way.  It was with relief that the man turned and left and she made her way to the elevator alone.

Her reaction to him in the
elevator had been a surprise.  He thought that she would have played hard to get to entice more from him, but her desire for him was real.  Nobody could fake that kind of passion he thought, the knowledge making him want her even more.  As he gently kissed her head, which leant so warmly against his shoulder, he vowed that she would be returning home with him, determined to stay until he won her over.  Nikias Dranias was a man who got what he wanted, who could bend anyone to his will, especially women.  However, as he fell asleep a tiny thought caused him to frown slightly.  Diona Brown was not like other women.

The next morning Diona
woke, instantly knowing where she was.  She looked up at Nikias, his face so relaxed in sleep.  She held her breath, seeing the way his long lashes rested on his wonderful olive skin, and how his hair fell over his face giving him a boyish look.  Swallowing the desire which once more rocketed through her, her eyes flicked down his wonderful body.  Seeing those strong arms which had held her so tightly as he enticed such reactions from her, she bit back the groan and the sudden impulse to reach forward and kiss his lips, to wake him and feel him once more make love to her.

Instead
, she gently moved from him, stiffening as he moaned gently as if aware of her leaving him.  As she slowly and quietly dressed by the side of the bed she was aware of how her head pounded, her body feeling stiff.  She grimaced.  That was all she needed - to catch a cold having just come from one of the hottest countries in the world.

As she crept forward towards the door
, Nikias stirred.  His hands instinctively reached for her, his eyes flying open as he did not feel her there.  Seeing her standing with her hand on the door, he called her name, making her freeze on the spot to look over at him.  “Where are you going?”, he asked in sleepy surprise.  Diona bit her lip, her face a mass of emotions.  “This was a mistake Nikias, I am going back to my own life, and I am begging you to leave me alone”

Pulling himself onto his side, leaning on his elbow, he
frowned.  “Come back and let’s talk about it Diona”, he said softly, his eyes holding hers.  With all the will she could muster she shook her head.  “No, Nikias this is pointless”

He
stared at the woman before him.  “How do you know that, how do you know what I am prepared to offer you?”  Diona looked back at him, a haunted expression in her eyes.  “I know exactly what you have in mind.  You still see me as the manipulating woman who trapped your brother, and no doubt still see me as mistress material to warm your bed”  Their eyes met as his silence confirmed her words.  “Would that be so bad Diona?”, he asked gently. “At least we would both be honest with each other.  I want you…I always have and I am prepared to offer you everything you want”.

Diona
looked over at him, her sore head starting to turn into a migraine as she felt sick.  Her look was sad as she stared hauntingly back at him.  “You can never give me what I want Nikias”, she said softly, seeing how he frowned deeper.  “And what do you want?”, he asked, a look of confusion entering the darkness of his black eyes.

With a final look at him she
pulled open the door.  “Goodbye Nikias… Have a happy life”, she breathed so softly before she slipped out of the room.  Throwing himself onto his back he swore angrily in Greek.  For the first time he admitted the fact that she might not be prepared to return with him, surprising himself at the sudden fear which gripped him at this thought.

CHAPTER S
EVEN

Diona
spent the day relaxing at home, avoiding the many calls which Nikias made to both her mobile and house phone, not feeling strong enough to deal with him after the way she reacted the previous day, the day of her sister’s wedding. She kept seeing his face, feeling the way he touched her, kissed her, made love to her, sighing with pain each time the memories would fill her mind.  She knew that she had to avoid him, and with a small sound of pain she thought of how he would be gone soon, and that all she had to do was to stay away from him until then.  She spent much of the afternoon sleeping; the migraine which she had woken up with thankfully disappearing.  She showered, preparing for her dinner date with James.

At
six, Diona sat at her dressing table, wrapped in a warm fluffy housecoat.  As she looked into the mirror she finished applying her make-up, not really seeing how lovely, if a little pale, she looked.  With a small smile, she found herself looking forward to the night.  James was sweet, kind and easy to be with - unlike Nikias - she thought with a small frown.  Nikias, who had completely swept her off her feet, kidnapping her before making love to her.  She closed her eyes, hearing the phone once more ring as the answer machine again kicked in.

As she
stood to look for what she would be wearing that evening, she scowled as the doorbell rang.  With a small noise of annoyance, she opened the front door, gasping in surprise to see Nikias standing before her.  “What are you doing here?”, she asked him wide-eyed, seeing how his eyes flicked over her with open desire.  Diona took in how handsome he looked as usual, wearing a dark suit which complimented his ebony hair and eyes.  “You can’t be here”, she cried, as Nikias ignored her, moving into her flat.  “You don’t answer your calls, so what else am I supposed to do?”, he stated, moving towards her.  “Stay away”, she quickly cried, moving behind the small table and chairs in her modest living room to put as much distance between them as possible.

“Damn it Nikias, I don’t see you for six months after you practically accuse me of God knows what as far as you and your brother are concerned, and then you come back and once again you just expect me to play the role of your oh-so-willing mistress?”, she shouted with pain in her voice, remembering with self-loathing how keenly she had fallen into his bed the previous night.

Nikias
looked at her, seeing the tears shining in her eyes.  “That is all I am to you Nikias, somebody to warm your bed, and I am not prepared to be that”, she finished, her whole face flushed, her eyes both angry and hurt.  Looking down on her his expression was contemplative.  “Diona…I came here tonight to ask if you would have dinner with me…nothing more.  I owe you an apology for the way I treated you back then”, adding so softly, “although I do not regret last night”

Diona
gave a short humourless laugh.  “I don’t believe you Nikias.  This is just another attempt to get me into bed”, she bit out at him, seeing a small frown cross his face.  “Hardly fair Diona, I am very sincere.  I realised last night that I had never danced with you, and I want to again, just you and me.  I want to take you for dinner, talk to you.  Despite what you might think I enjoyed the time that we spent together, outside of the bedroom”  He watched as she looked at him with disbelief in her eyes, carrying on. “Don’t judge me if you are not prepared to give me a chance to redeem myself”, he said more gently ,“Let me take you out for dinner tonight”

“No”, she said forcefully, seeing the hard look come to his face.  “So you are too afraid to even have dinner with me”, he stated, as she shook her head.  “I’m not afraid of you”, she cried, her chin raised in a defiance he found so attractive about her.  “The truth is Nikias, I already have a date for tonight”, she said, seeing the frown coming to his face.  “Cancel”, he arrogantly replied, seeing the shock on her face.

“No”, she stated firmly. “Now if you will please leave, I would like to get ready”  Suddenly hearing her phone ringing once again, she moved past him, pleased for any opportunity to do something other than look at the man before her, who was causing her whole body to react in an all too familiar way.

Lifting the handset
, she heard James on the other end.  “Diona, thank goodness, I’ve been trying to get in touch with you for hours”, he said as she heard the relief in his tone.  “I have to cancel”, he groaned apologetically.  “Oh”, she replied trying not to look at the man listening so intently. “That’s fine, don’t worry about it”, she carried on gently, as she heard James’ disappointment on the other end.  “No it’s not alright, and it is killing me that this has happened.  I’m so sorry Diona; please would you meet me for lunch tomorrow instead?”

Diona
laughed gently.  “Well, I need to meet Daryle and Alexis later”, she said, turning so as not to let Nikias hear what she was saying.  “How about if I meet you at the hotel, then you can still meet your sister?”, he pled.  With a small smile she agreed and was happy to hear the sound of relief from James as he organised to meet her at 12.30, before once again apologising for not making it that night.

As she
put down the phone and turned, she saw that Nikias had moved to sit down on the couch, his whole body so relaxed and sure.  “So he stood you up”, he stated gently. “Stupid man” She held her breath, seeing how he held her blue eyes with his dark ones.  “So you seem to be free tonight after all”, he continued. Diona frowned.  “No.  I need an early night anyway”, she said, not looking at him.

“So you ARE afraid to have dinner with me”, he repeated softly, making her flash an angry look in his direction.  “Fine, I’ll have dinner with you”, she retorted angrily, seeing the look of triumph come to his face, “But only to show you that I am not afraid of going out with you”.  Diona saw how his lips twitched gently.  “Well don’t let me stop you from getting ready”, he told her as she threw him an evil look before moving back into her bedroom.

From the living room she
heard him calling out.  “I thought we could go to a club I know, dinner and dancing”, he suggested as she made a non-committal sound, sitting on her bed with her head in her hands.  God why had she agreed – no, been pushed into agreeing with him, she corrected herself, realising once again that he had out-manoeuvred her to get his own way.

Wi
th a sigh of annoyance she pulled a black dress from her wardrobe, one which Daryle had given to her because her sister thought it suited Diona more.  She remembered how Daryle looked at her so appreciatively. “Wow, Diona you look gorgeous”, before insisting that she keep the dress, seeing how it clung to every perfect curve on her sister’s figure, showing her cleavage in such a way as to have made Diona gasp and vow never to wear it.  However, two could play at the ‘only being friends game’ and Diona pulled it on, part of her wanting to see just how far she could push Nikias.  Brushing her hair, she let it hang against her, knowing how much he liked it that way.  As she moved from her room, she saw the way his eyes filled with fire as they moved slowly over her before he smiled, his eyes bright with laughter.

“Well Miss Brown…You certainly scrub up well”, he said, his voice husky.  “Not going to make it easy for me are you?”  Diona looked away to stop the laugh on her lips escaping, knowing that he was on to her.  “Is this OK?”, she asked noncommittally, picking up her jacket, as he took it from her to hold so that she could put it on.  As his fingers touched her naked shoulder, she had to once again bite her lip to stop the small sound of pleasure escaping them.  “I think that you know the answer to that question”, he said softly, his voice slightly husky, as he moved to the door, holding it open for her.

In the car
, Diona looked at him from the corner of her eye, seeing how well he handled the large vehicle through the busy streets.  She felt herself fascinated by the way his fingers moved so surely across the steering wheel, remembering with a jump of her heart how those same hands moved across her, the memory causing her body to ache for his touch.  As this thought filled her mind he turned to look at her, her breath stalling as the memory and his dark eyes centred on her caused her to fidget.

“I like your sister”, he said softly, as she looked back with surprise.  “Not what you were saying last time you met”, she said more sharply than she meant.  Diona saw how his jaw clenched, regretting her words instantly.  “I’m sorry”, she said, “It must have been hard to come to the wedding”

Nikias
flashed her a surprised but warm look.  “It was…but I knew that I was wrong…I should have seen how they really felt about each other…Alexis was very forgiving”, he said, his voice full of emotion. “Too forgiving”, he added gently.  Diona suddenly felt very forgiving herself.  “He is a good person.  He and Daryle have been so good for each other”, she said as he nodded, giving a small laugh.  “Never thought I would see the day my brother settled down”  Diona giggled back. “I know what you mean”, she replied, as their eyes met briefly, both looking at each other with amusement.

At the club the two
were instantly seated at the best table in the house, as the manager recognised Nikias immediately, laughing with him as though they were old friends.  The meal was delicious, and he asked her what she had been doing for the last six months, listening attentively as she told him about her latest voluntary work.  They took their time with the food, and she enjoyed sipping her way through an expensive bottle of champagne as they ate, Diona drinking her first two glasses quickly, nervous about being alone with Nikias.

As they
danced, she continued to drink the bubbly liquid, finding herself becoming more and more relaxed as the two once more settled into each other’s company, laughing and joking.  She enjoyed the way he held her so closely to him, his hands strong and firm as he guided her around the dance floor.  She found herself becoming more forward as the night progressed, her hands moving to wind around his neck, her hips moving more sensually against him, as her eyes become more daring as they flicked to his lips, her lips slightly open with so much promise.

Nikias
watched with surprise the change in her.  With a frown he realised what was wrong, as she rose to move once more to the dance floor, a small sway in her step.  With a smile on his lips, he moved her slowly to the door.  “OK Miss Brown”, he laughed, “I think perhaps it is time that you went home to your bed”  Diona giggled.  “Mmmm...OK, you coming with me?”, she chuckled softly, her eyes alive with mischief.  “I think that I might just make sure you get home all right”, he replied softly, watching as she moved to the door.

In the car
, Diona hummed gently a non-descript tune before turning to him, her eyes watching him intently with a strange depth to them.  “Did you miss me Nikias, when you left me at the airport?”, she asked, looking at him through those wonderful blue eyes.  Nikias tightened his grip on the steering wheel.  “Yes”, he managed eventually, remembering with pain just how much he missed her.

“Have there been many other women in the past six months?”, she asked, Nikias looking uncomfortably back at her.  “Some”, he answered, seeing how she frowned.  “I guess I was that easy to forget huh?”  He looked quickly at her. “No, Diona, you were not easy to forget… What about you and James?”, he asked, as she smiled gently.  “He is so sweet”, she sighed. “Everything a women could ever want in a man”, she added gently, not seeing the frown on his face.  “You are lovers?”, he asked, his voice taut.  Diona giggled again.  “No, silly, he’s my friend …you’re the only one I’ve ever slept with” With this thought she looked back over at him, her eyes full of fire.

“Did you like sleeping with me Nikias?”, she asked seductively, her hand moving slowly, caressing his cheek as she looked at him, chuckling at seeing how he clenched his jaw so tightly.  As he pulled up outside her apartment block, he was saved from having to answer, able to escape the small confined space, to move around to help her out of the car.  As the fresh air hit her, she felt her head begin to spin as the alcohol fully kicked in, and as they reached her flat, she was unsteady on her feet, as he had to open the door for her.

“I think that somebody is a bit of a light-weight when it comes to drinking”, he smiled softly, sitting her down to ensure that she drank some water.  Diona looked at him, her eyes full of a smouldering fire, before she moved over to stand beside him.  “Do you want to stay the night?”, she whispered, her arms moving to wind around his waist, her fingers gently running up and down his spine, causing him to moan gently.  “No…I think I had better go”, he said, his voice tight and hoarse, as she moved one hand around his neck, pulling his head down to meet hers.

“Liar...you want to stay so badly, it hurts”, she purred as her tongue flicked out to gently lick along his lips, making him groan even harder.  “Kiss me”, she breathed against him as their lips met, before she managed to deepen the kiss, moving herself against him, feeling how his body responded as the hardness of him dug into her.

H
e laughed shakily as he pulled away from her. Nikias looked down on the woman he wanted so badly.  “I think that I had better go”, he said, seeing the fire in her eyes and looking away.  “Why?”, she asked, “I don’t want you to”  Nikias moved further away. “I don’t want to either, but you’re drunk Diona...and I am not in the habit of seducing drunk women”  Diona giggled. “Wow, you have boundaries”, she chuckled, “Didn’t think that when you kidnapped me”

He
looked at her silently as she sighed.  “OK, your loss”, she said, kicking off her shoes, as she moved into her bedroom.  He stood wondering what to do next, before following her with a small sigh, hearing her bump into some piece of furniture and yelp with pain.  In her room he watched as she tried to reach her zip to undo the dress she wore which had been driving him wild all night.
