“Well, well.” The ghoul in front of him smiled. “Does Mistress Lana know you have the master key, Bruce?”

Bruce sneered at the ghoul. “Stay in your place,” he said, trying to fake his way out of the situation. “Are you mad because Lana wants me to join in with her activities and not you?”

The ghoul stared back at him through jealous eyes. Though Lana used ghouls as servants, she would never allow one to touch her. Underneath the ghoul’s dark cape, skin fell from his body turning to dust before it hit the ground.

“I didn’t know you enjoyed man on man sex.” The Ghoul ridiculed him.

“Lana is the only one who touches me, but if it pleases her to free two of her slaves to help me make her orgasm better, then I’m all for it; I’ll do anything to please her.” Bruce hoped the ghoul fell for his lies.

“I think you’re up to something, vampire. I’ll keep my eyes on you.”

Bruce laughed, angering the ghoul. “Keep your eyes on me, ghoul. Maybe, you will learn what it takes to please a lady like Lana.”

The ghoul snarled when Bruce teleported to Lana’s room.

“It’s about damn time.” Jude stood up and held his handcuffed arms out to Bruce. “Get these damned things off of me.”

“How is she?” Bruce asked, taking the handcuffs off Jude, and then off Cole.

 “The same,” Jude answered.

As soon as he uttered the words, Lana shifted, slowly regaining consciousness. Bruce teleported to her bed and used the handcuffs he took off Cole and Jude to handcuff Lana to the bed. As he clicked the last handcuff into place, Lana opened her eyes.

“Good, Bruce, you’ve come for me,” she whispered weakly, trying to sit up.

Her eyes turned wild when she realized she couldn’t move. She turned to Bruce, her black eyes now burning with anger.

“Take these handcuffs off, Bruce,” she yelled, struggling with her restraints.

“Now, you see what it’s like and you feel how we felt,” Jude said from behind Bruce.

Lana’s eyes swung to the other two men.

“You tricked me!” she yelled. Cole and Jude smiled back at her. Lana leaned forward in the bed, her red hair framing her face, like fire rising from the sun.

“I’ll kill you both slowly when I’m free,” she said, her lips pulling back from her teeth.

“We should go,” Bruce said.

“Give me a sec,” Jude said, approaching Lana’s bed.

Lana jerked trying to break free. She hissed at Jude. Bruce knew they should leave now.

“You can’t kill her here, demon. Let’s go.” Bruce was eager to see his mate. He was eager to get her to safety. Too much could go wrong with this flawed plan.

Jude didn’t budge. He leaned closer to Lana, but stayed out the way of her fangs while she gnashed her teeth at him.

“I can’t kill you here, but I’ll kill you soon. You—and your fucked-up brother. You may think you have escaped punishment for the crimes you’ve done to my kind, but you’re wrong.” Jude stood up before Lana spit at him.

“You won’t kill me, demon. My crimes against your pitiful kind haven’t even started yet. You and your sorry excuse for friends will never make it out of here alive. I promise you that.” Lana laughed.

“Promises, promises…I think we should go while we still have time,” Cole said.

Bruce nodded his head and grabbed both men by their necks, teleporting to Carissa’s cell.

“My bad.” Bruce released the two men who stared at him angrily. “It’s a habit.”

Cole rubbed his neck, and then turned his attention to the two women in bed together. “What do we have here?” His eyes shined brighter.

Bruce hissed at Cole when Faede ran to him, hugging him tightly; he wrapped his arms around his mate’s slender body. Bruce turned to tell Jude they had to leave now, but Jude stood as still as a statue staring at his mate.
Damn, they didn’t have time for this.

* * * *

Jude stood immobile, his eyes focused on the woman sitting on the bed. He was thankful for the pants Bruce gave him because his manhood stood at attention.

“Leave us,” he told the others.

“We don’t have time for that,” Bruce insisted. “We have to go.”

“Leave now,” Jude said, slowly walking to the bed where his mate sat. His inner demon raised its head becoming restless. He needed to touch her, needed to hold her in his arms.

“I guess we should leave,” Cole said. “If we go to my cell, we can still hear them. It’s not the same as watching, but at least it’s something.”

“Now!” Jude roared, dropping to his knees in front of his mate.

He didn’t hear movement behind him signaling their departure. Jude turned to them. “Leave, or I swear to the Elders I will rip you to shreds where you stand,” his eyes darted from Bruce to Cole. He didn’t stare at Faede, he would never harm an innocent woman. Bruce hugged Faede close to him and gripped Cole’s shoulder, teleporting them away from Jude and his mate. Jude turned and stared into his mates eyes. She was the most beautiful woman he’d ever seen.

She smiled at him. “Hey,” she said.

“Hey.”

“I think Bruce forgot to take my cuffs off,” Carissa said. Jude sensed she was trying to say something to fill the silence stretching between the two of them. He didn’t respond; he sat on his knees staring at her. She was perfection. He licked his lips and saw her nipples tightened through the sheer fabric of the black dress she wore.

“Open your legs” he whispered. Carissa obeyed. She didn’t have on panties. Jude inhaled deeply and growled low in his throat. His mate lifted her dress over her head and dropped it beside her on the bed. She smiled when he licked his lips, hungry for a taste of her. Carissa scooted back on the bed and lifted her legs, putting them on his shoulder, she pulled him closer.

Jude allowed her to guide him, the scent of her driving him mad.
Keep it together, don’t rush her.
He needed this. His mate lay back against the cell wall while he gripped her hips, bringing her pussy closer to his face.

“I can’t go slowly,” he said through clenched teeth.

“I don’t want you to.” This was all he needed to hear.

Jude pulled her to him, sucking her pussy into his mouth greedily. He sighed as the first drop of her juices hit his tongue and felt like he was home for the first time in his life. His cock throbbed painfully in his pants.

“Mine,” he said against her body, pushing his tongue deeper.

“Yours,” she moaned, pulling his head closer.

“You taste like honey.” Jude wanted to spend hours on his knees savoring his mate, but he knew they needed to hurry if they wanted to escape with the others. He swiped his tongue across her sex, not wanting to part with her sweet nectar, but they must hurry if they wanted to escape. Rising from his knees, he quickly undressed.

Naked, Jude joined her on the bed. Carissa gripped his hair pulling his mouth to hers. She was as hungry for him as he was for her. As they kissed, Jude guided his throbbing cock into her body, trembling as he entered her, fearing he would come prematurely.

“I’ve waited so long,” he murmured, sliding the length of him into her tight folds. Deeper and deeper, he filled her until he reached her core.

Jude shuddered, but he held still. The demon in him wanted to mark her while pounding her body non-stop, but the man in him wanted her to know how much this moment meant to him. Jude cradled her face in his hands.

“Thank you,” he whispered, and then kissed her deeply. “Next time, I’ll go slowly.” He pulled all the way out of her, and then dove in deeper, taking her breath away. Carissa held on as he punished her body unmercifully. He gripped her breast and rubbed his thumb across her nipple. Jude licked her neck while continuing to pound her. He wanted to take things slow, but it wasn’t possible. He needed this too badly—needed her too badly. His demon surfaced and his eyes turned red, his fangs descended. It was so long since he was able to release the demon inside of him. He didn’t want to hurt her, didn’t want her to view him as a monster, but there was no way he could keep his demon from marking her. Jude stared down into his mates eyes.

“I’m so sorry,” he whispered, continuing to push into her, hoping she understood him.

“Mark me,” she gasped, as he pummeled her. She understood; she was perfect for him.

Jude shoved into her hard, and sank his fangs into her neck. Her hips jerked and she bit her lip, trying not to scream. At the first drop of her blood on his tongue, his cock lengthened, locking their bodies together. His body recognized her as his and refused to let her go. Jude marked her; she was now his forever. His entire body shook when his orgasm crashed suddenly, dragging him and her both into a tidal wave of pure bliss. After they both stopped shaking, Jude pulled slowly out of her.

He stared at her, mesmerized by the myriad of emotions swirling around his heart. For so long, he thought of a mate as a means to an end. He only wanted a mate so he could lift the curse from him, but now that he had a mate, he knew she meant much more than this to him. She was now his world; nothing else mattered to him, but her.

She pushed the hair back from his face and glanced up into his eyes. Her eyes shone with an emotion resembling love, but Jude knew it was too much to hope for. “Your body locked with mine, I felt it. I’ve heard mated demons did this, but I didn’t believe it. It felt good, will it happen every time?”

“It only happens the first time a demon is with his mate. Did I hurt you?” His mate shook her head no. He wanted to hold her longer, but they were probably already out of time. “We have to go,” Jude said, before nibbling on her ear. “But this is just the beginning.” She was going to change his world; Jude sensed it with every fiber of his being. They would be happy together, but first they needed to escape.

The newly mated couple dressed quickly. Carissa helped Jude button his pants when sirens blared loudly. Carissa jumped and Jude grabbed her by her arm when Bruce and the others teleported into the room.

“We have to go, now,” Bruce said.

He unlocked Carissa’s cuffs and teleported them all to the front gate of the building.

“Dammit,” Bruce yelled over the blaring sirens. Jude stepped next to him.

“What’s wrong, I thought you knew the combination?”

Jude knew the house was spell casted, it only allowed those who were protected by the spell to teleport in and out of the front gate. Bruce tried to unlock the gate, but the lock wouldn’t open. The other two males tried to help using their combined strength, but the lock on the chain held firm.

“No one has made it this far in an escape attempt. Once the alarm sounds, the combination becomes useless and the door can only be opened by Lana or Lucius.” Bruce looked to his mate. Jude saw a look of hopelessness in the vampire’s eyes.

“Let me try,” Carissa said, allowing the energy she received from Jude to flow into her fingertips. He didn’t want her to weaken herself, but they needed to get out. Her fingers glowed.

Carissa placed her hands on the lock. He watched her focus all of her energy into unlocking it. Nothing happened. The men resumed trying to break it by force, while she held the chain in her glowing hands, but together they still couldn’t get it to open.

“They’re coming!” Faede yelled. The others turned and saw the front door of the mansion open and ghouls heading their way. Cole, Bruce, and Jude all assumed fighting stances and waited for the ghouls to arrive. Carissa uttered enchantments on the lock, trying to force it to open.

Faede joined her with a few enchantments of her own. Together, they worked on opening the gate while their men battled the ghouls. More ghouls emerged from the castle, some slipping past Jude and the two vampires.

With red eyes, Jude ripped the throat of the ghoul in front of him, turning immediately to the next ghoul rushing him. He fought the ghoul off, but watched in amazement as the headless ghouls body rose up, the two halves forming two, whole ghouls. The stench of rotting flesh drifted up from the bodies of the multiplying ghouls.

Dread seeped into his heart while he used all his strength to fight the ghouls off. All around them, defeated ghouls got up and doubled their numbers. One ghoul slipped past Jude, running full speed toward his mate and Faede. He snapped. His eyes burned bright red and his demon emerged.

“Look out,” Jude screamed to his mate when three ghouls grabbed him from behind, taking him down. Jude held them off, his skin on fire from their touch. He looked behind him to see how his mate was faring. “Don’t let them touch you!” he yelled. Pain tore through his shoulder from breaking free of the ghouls grasp. He battled with renewed strength, not for his own freedom, but for his mate. He would protect her with his last breath.

* * * *

Carissa stood over the lock, eyes closed chanting, but the lock didn’t open. She looked to her friend for help, but watched a ghoul grab Faede’s shoulder, its touch burning her skin. Faede cried out. Her mercury eyes swirled and she lifted her hands, placing them over the ghoul’s heart. Faede called for his soul. Carissa saw her friend do this once before, but watching her do it still frightened her. Faede looked…like a killer. Her body slowly rose up from the ground, hovering over the ghouls whose souls she snatched. The ghoul’s eyes were frozen in a trance by the mercury swirling in Faede’s eyes. Silence reigned and all the ghouls stopped to stare at her. Faede’s lips moved, but no sound emerged while she chanted the ‘The Keeper of Souls’ spell. Her lips moved faster and one by one the ghouls fell
to the ground, their bodies shriveling into dust. They would not rise again. Carissa turned back to the lock. She needed to open it. Normally, her chants worked on locks, but this one was more powerful than she was. Hopelessness settled around her heart. It wasn’t only her emotions she felt, the others felt the same way. They were doomed.
