Megan heard Max’s voice and when she raised her head she saw him smiling at her. Tears filled her eyes and she leaped onto the bed; she buried her face in his shoulder.

He reached down and took her hand in his. “Let’s go and rest up. I talked to the doctor when I went looking for Phoenix
. He told me that Max would have to stay the night, but would most likely be released tomorrow.”

She nodded, but glanced at Max
. He looked like he wanted to say something, but she was tired and didn’t want to hear anything he had to say. “I could use a shower, and a bed.” She and Jax walked out of the room, but she felt Max’s eyes on her.
