But she doesn’t say it.
She just looks up at me, her blue eyes like the sky on a clear snowy day. When snowboarding, a blue sky is like a magnet. You’d do anything for a good kicker, to get as close to the blue expanse as possible. But it all pales compared to the power her eyes have over me.
“Want another bee
—” she stars saying, but my lips shut her up. I feel her go stiff, until she softens and gives in.
You know how some people describe feeling as if the world tipped sideways? Yeah, that. And upside down, too.
Kissing Chloe is … let me get back to you once I think of a good enough comparison. If ever. Because it’s pretty much like dropping from the highest point of a roller coaster and landing in the softest, sweetest embrace at the same time. It’s wild and gentle. It’s crazy-ass hot and so,
so
fucking good.
My fingers itch to reach to her hair
and pull her closer, but I suddenly realize her folks are just a few paces away.
I’m breathless and confounded, and I say the first thing that comes to my mind. “Need a ride to Atlanta tomorrow?”
Only when the words are out, I realize how silly they sound. I avoid looking at her because I’m afraid of her reaction to the kiss, to my unrelated words.
“That’d be great,” she says softly,
leaning into me.
I cup her face in my palms. No one has ever looked at me like that before, so
tender and loving.
“I’m sorry, Chloe.”
“I know.”
I let out a breath and grin. “You were saying something about a beer?”
She flutters her eyelashes at me. “Yeah, would you be so kind as to get me one?”
I love this girl
so fucking much.
