Trevor looked all ready to go into the bathroom but he wasn’t getting me that way. My pants were not coming off in a bathroom other than to pee. “Shut up Hales.” Marcus and Trevor began laughing and joking. I grabbed my tiger and held it tight.

Bored with walking around in the gift shop, the rain had slacked off a lot. We all decided mutually to leave. We had fun even though we didn’t get to stay longer. Trevor and I both had to be at The Lounge tonight anyway. Halley fell asleep on Marcus’s arm while he was driving. Trevor and I had the tiger on our laps. My hand lay between his legs. I wanted to touch him but was afraid he would get hard and then well we couldn’t exactly do anything in the car with the other two in here. So my hand just stayed on his inner thigh. I laid my head on his shoulder and watched the rain soaked town as we passed through.

Marcus pulled up at the apartment and picked the very sleepy Halley up and carried her to her room. Trevor went to grab my tiger but I grabbed it first and we went into my room. I laid the tiger on the floor. Trevor sat on the bed and I sat beside him on the bed. I stared into his beautiful eyes and reached up to kiss his lips.

“Thank you for today. You have no idea what any of this meant to me.” I
lay down and he lay beside me.

Facing each other he replied, “I told you I’ll do anything to make you happy.” I stared into his eyes until I fell asleep.

*****

I was in a field lying on a thin blue blanket with Trevor. There were dandelions all around. We had a picnic and ate peanut butter and jelly sandwiches
with cups of sweet tea. I was staring into his eyes; the fire was burning inside me. Trevor pulled me in for a fiery kiss. His tongue explored mine and my breathing became ragged. I lifted his shirt off and rubbed my hands over his abs and wrapped them around his back. He rolled on top of me hovering over my body. He gently pulled my shorts down and ran his hand in between my thighs. I moaned wanting him to touch me. Suddenly there was a faint knock. Annoyed, I looked up but didn’t see anyone. The knock came again this time louder.

“MACY.. YOU NEED TO GET UP AND GET READY FOR WORK.”

My eyes popped open. Trevor was sleeping beside me. I had been dreaming. Halley would pay for this; it was the most amazing dream ever. Well I was hoping it would end amazing. The clock said it was a few minutes after 5. Shit. I jumped out of bed trying not to wake Trevor but wait; he needed to wake up too.

“Trevor, you
got to get up baby we got to get ready.” I threw the pink decorative pillow that got thrown on the floor at his head. He mumbled something and rolled over. His eyes peered open and he groaned. “I know you don’t want to get up but you got to.” I kissed his cheek then ran to my closet.

I had to be behind the bar tonight but that wasn’t going to stop me from not drinking. That was like asking the sun not to shine. There was no way the sun would not shine. I felt a bit sassy and decided to pull out my blue jean mini skirt. It’d been years since I put it on and it still fit. Yay me! I found the green sequin tank top I bought a few weeks ago in a pile of clothes on the floor. I meant to wear it then but I decided on something plain.

“Halley,” I screamed out the door. “Have you seen my black wedges?” I threw about every shoe I owned out of my closet. Trevor was standing in the corner amused. He’s lucky I didn’t aim one at his head.

She poked her head in the door. “Ohmigod I love that shirt, can I borrow it sometime?”

Impatiently I tapped my foot. “Focus, have you seen the shoes?”

“No I haven’t sorry.” She turned on her heel and left. Dammit. Guess I’d be wearing the black flip flops again.

Trevor was fixing his hair in the bathroom. He used my hair gel to spike his semi long hair how he wanted it. I picked at him for using girly hair products. Girly or not he looked amazing. He flashed me a smile and I sauntered over to him.

“You’re going to make me kick some guys ass tonight aren’t you.” He pulled me close and held me.

“What’s wrong you don’t like it?”

“Are you kidding, I love it. You look amazing. I just don’t want
anyone else looking at what’s mine.”

“Possessive are we?”

He smiled and replied, “You have no idea.” He smacked my behind and I screamed.

“You almost ready?” I stood beside him in the mirror and touched up my
makeup and my hair.

“Let’s go baby.” He held my hand as we walked into the living room. We told Halley and Marcus we’d see them at the bar and we headed out the door.

As soon as we pulled in, I went straight into Gary’s office. “Hey Uncle Gary what’s going on?”

He looked up from his paperwork and smiled. “Hey kiddo, thanks for working tonight. I really appreciate it. Good help is hard to find nowadays.”

“Yeah I know what you mean.” I began thinking about the girl who had watched Halley spill her drink that one night and did nothing about it.

It was still pretty early. The sun was still up but that didn’t stop anyone from coming in. A few patrons were standing around the bar. “Let me get out there and get to work.”

He waved me off and I stepped behind the bar. Some people needed to check the mirror before they left, some you just couldn’t help but notice for various other reasons. I couldn’t have missed this girls chunky red highlights if I tried. Well that and the fact half her chest was hanging out her very low cut shirt. This was the typical girl who came to admire Trevor and the guys. She must be new I’d never seen her before. Trevor walked up to the bar at the same time. I saw how she looked at him. My claws were about to come out. She had the look that said I’ll take you right here, right now. I handed him his typical beer and blew him a kiss. If she were Death, I’d be dead. I swear daggers flew from her eyes. I grabbed the nearest shot glass and filled it with whiskey. It went down smooth and the stranger spoke.

“Can I get a vodka and cranberry?” Girlie drinks. I should have known. My guard was up for her. I’d be watching her like a damn hawk all night.

“Sure,
that’s 5.00.” I turned around to make her drink and had the thought to spit in it. She’d never know anyway. What’s a little extra flavor?

I slid the drink purposely hoping to spill it on her but it didn’t work. She handed me a five dollar bill. Of course she wouldn’t tip me. Cheap broad. She looked me up and down, sizing me up. I hated competitive females.

“So who’s that hottie that just got a beer?” Oh no ma’am. She had nerve. My insides were boiling and I took a deep breath before I could get any words out to her. It wouldn’t be very professional to lose it. Gary would be pissed.

“That would be my boyfriend.” I smiled and turned my back. Take that chunky hair bitch! I downed another shot of whiskey and turned back to face her.

She still watched me, smirking like something was up her sleeve. No doubt in my mind, she was a home wrecker. She was the kind of woman who didn’t care how many times you told her you were with someone she would never stop. “Well isn’t that a shame. Be sure to kiss him goodbye tonight.”

I damn near came across the bar. “What the hell did you say bitch?” Crap. I wasn’t supposed to lose it and she saw my weakness. My blood was boiling. I could feel my face getting redder and redder.

She began laughing. Why was she laughing? Didn’t she realize I was seconds from being over this bar and bashing her head against the floor? “Guys like him,” she pointed in Trevor’s direction, “don’t stay with girls like you for long. Once he sees what I have to offer, you’ll be yesterday’s news.”

She continued her stupid smirk and before I could get out a response she turned on her heel and found a table near the stage. My eyes searched for Halley. Where the hell were they? I was still stressed from the girl who thought she could tell me I would be
yesterday’s news. Trevor and I were in love. I still couldn’t talk myself down from being wound up so I poured my third shot of the night then waited on a few customers.

Halley came prancing up to the bar cheery as ever. I was still pissed but hiding it pretty well. I had a job to do tonight. Well two jobs. Fix drinks and watch the chunky bitch. Occasionally she glanced back to me and flashed her grin. The DJ was playing music and a few people sang karaoke in between songs. I wasn’t in the mood to sing tonight. If I did I’d be on the hunt for a song called ‘I Hate You Bitch’. I don’t think that song existed yet. Maybe I needed to be the one to write it. Trevor and Marcus were now talking by the stage, probably about what their playlist was for the night. She kept trying to get Trevor’s attention but he wasn’t looking. Take that!

“Hey Mace, can I get a beer for Marcus and a well a beer for me too?” I rolled my eyes and gave them to her. Gary usually let us all drink on him. I assumed this night was no different than any other. “You ok? What’s wrong I know that look?”

I pointed towards chunky and whispered, “See that bitch over there. Keep an eye on her. She had the nerve to ask who Trevor was and when I told her he’s my boyfriend she said he will forget all about me when he sees what she has to offer. I wanted to kill her. I still do. Ugh and of course I’m working tonight.”

Halley noticed the girl and practically snarled at her. Chunky hadn’t turned back around in a while. “I’ve got my eye on her, don’t worry. Do you want me to stay at the bar by you?”

That wouldn’t work. I needed defenses up everywhere. Operation stop chunky was going into effect. “No, Hales that won’t work. I need you up there keeping a closer eye on her. Who knows what she’s capable
of? I can’t kill her from over here but you can kill her up there.”

She began laughing but stopped when she saw I wasn’t even smiling. This would be squashed. It had to be. This girl was not coming in and taking over what was mine. “I’ve got you. Don’t worry about her.” I blinked back a few tears that were trying to form. She touched my arm and continued, “He’s not going anywhere Mace. I won’t let her near him.” She squeezed my hand and walked toward the front where Trevor was just taking the stage. I downed shot four and continued to glare at the girl who was threate
ning to ruin all my happiness.

Chapter 10

The crowd was going wild for the band tonight. After about three songs, Marcus did a drum solo and I could hear Halley whistling at him. She loved watching Marcus perform. She was so proud of him. And he was pretty damn good at what he did. Chunky was still sitting in front. Her eyes were on Trevor. I glanced toward him and his eyes met mine. He smiled and blew a kiss. I stared at him. I couldn’t return it. I was lucky to be seeing straight at this point. The green shirt he wore tonight fit him perfectly. I could make out the definition in his abs. Those were my abs and chunky was looking at them. I hated her. If my uncle didn’t own this bar and I wasn’t afraid of him I’d go hit her. Trevor looked at me concerned. My eyes felt dark and empty. All emotion was pushed aside. I tried though. Tried to smile at him. It was just hard knowing she was down there.

I waited on customer after customer. The tip jar was filling up, it was a good night.
It was definitely keeping me busy. The guys started playing ‘Crazy Bitch’ by Buckcherry. The crowd got even wilder. More people were up front and that gave me a break that I needed badly. Some were dancing. Everyone was having a good time. Then it happened.

Halley was in her positioned spot keeping an eye on chunky. Trevor began singing the song and I could see both girls singing along. I fixed a few drinks constantly keeping my eye on them. I turned to tell Gary something when I heard a bunch of hollering. I turned to see the chunky
bitch’s breasts flopping around. She was flashing the band and Trevor sure wasn’t turning away. I watched her head turn and look at me. That evil grin was flashing in my direction and I wanted to puke all over the bar. Shots five and six came back to back. Halley jumped up and confronted the girl. She slapped Halley in the face. Halley retaliated and slammed the girls head into the table. She put her shirt back on and backed off. I tried to leave my post and go meet Halley, it wasn’t working. My brain and my feet weren’t cooperating. I fell flat on my face when I tried to move. Scrambling to get back on my feet, I watched chunky walk out the door and I cheered silently on the inside. I win, always.

******

I have no idea when the first set ended and the second began. I had taken too many shots and he never came up to me that night. We rode together so he’d have to talk to me. People were leaving and I pretty much assumed that it was time to close. Surprisingly I had done my job correctly. I didn’t want to hear Gary bitch at me for being irresponsible by downing drinks like they were water when I was working..

I could hear Marcus, Halley, and Trevor around the corner arguing. Dammit. Time to face the music. This wasn’t all Halley’s fault. She stepped in to help me.

“Halley what the hell was that all about? You’re lucky you didn’t get kicked out. You can’t just walk up to women and bash their face into the table. She could press charges.” Marcus practically had steam coming out of his ears. Trevor looked just as pissed but he wasn’t saying anything. He was waiting for me I know he was.

“Marcus it’s not like that hear me out....”

I walked up and cut her off. “Marcus, don’t blame her it’s my fault. She just did what I asked her to.” I refused to let Halley take the fall for this.
