I shot her a glare. I’ve had the best day and she shows her face in my bar..again. “Well sweetie I’m afraid you’re in the wrong place
if you don’t want to see me because you see I own this bar.”

She rolled her eyes and replied, “Whatever. I need a vodka cranberry.”

No please or anything. I fixed her drink and turned to where she couldn’t see and I spit in it like I should have done the first time. And I mean it was a big wad of spit, I was proud. I plastered on the biggest fake smile and handed her the drink. “Enjoy.” She rolled her eyes again and threw the five dollar bill on the counter.

I noticed her sizing me up and she stopped when she saw my hand. “What’d you do rob the cracker jack box?”

Halley didn’t need to slam her head on the bar because I was moments away from doing it myself.

“Unlike you, I have class. Fix your hair you look like a damn clown.” She shut up real quick but kept her glare fixed upon me. “And nosy ass, I’m engaged to the man you think you can steal away. Bad news bitch, he’s off the market. He doesn’t want your clown ass.” I was super proud of myself. I held my head high. This was my moment. Her jaw dropped and she took a big sip of her drink and it took everything in me not to burst out laughing
or ask her how that spit tasted.

Halley came walking back up and
she and the clown made eye contact. She glared at both of us and stormed off towards the front of the stage where no doubt she would try to work her antics again.

“What the hell did she want?”

“To show her ass.” I leaned forward and whispered, “I spit in her drink.” Halley burst out laughing and I quickly tried to get her to stop. “I told her she looked like a clown too. Damn I should be sober more often this is fun.”

Halley couldn’t stop laughing. I poured her a shot and grabbed my water bottle and we both drank. The red haired clown listened to a few more songs then left but not before shooting me with another one of her glares. She was no threat to me. Matter of fact she was absolutely nothing to me.

Before we knew it, it was time to leave. The night went really good besides that girl being stupid. I didn’t even know I could have so much fun not drinking. We rode home laughing and talking about the nights events. I even filled Marcus and Trevor in on the girl.

“She showed up?”

“Yes and I put her in her place. I even spit in her drink.” Trevor kissed me and laughed.

“That’s my baby girl.”

“I should have done that the first night I ever met her, but something about tonight made it so worth the wait.”

We pulled up and walked inside. Everyone was exhausted. Marcus and Halley went to her room and shut the door. I scurried to my room to get out of hearing anything unwanted like usual.

Once my door was shut Trevor pinned me against the door and kissed my neck making a trail to my lips. “We didn’t get to celebrate earlier.” He kept kissing my neck and my knees were going week.

“No, we didn’t.” I kissed him back parting his lips with my tongue. I raised his shirt and lifted it off him. I ran my hand along his chest and wrapped my arms around his back. He picked me up and wrapped my legs around his waist. His bluish gray eyes melting me
during the process. He laid me down on the bed and stared into my eyes. “I love you so much.” I didn’t give him time to answer. I kissed him slow and passionately savoring every moment. He took my shirt off and kept trailing his kisses. I moaned softly with every touch. Trevor took his pants off then mine and continued to kiss down to my thighs. Oh god. I don’t think I could handle this. We hadn’t done this yet. He squeezed my hand and kissed gently and trailed back up and slid inside me. I kissed his lips like my life depended on it. He felt amazing inside me and I couldn’t help but moan with every thrust. My legs were so weak by the time we were done I was glad we weren’t standing or I’d have fallen over. He held me tight; my head lay upon his chest.

“Trevor?”

“Yeah babe?”

“Thank you for making this the best day of my life.” I sincerely meant that. There was no way this day could have been better.

“I’ll do anything for you Macy, anything for you and our baby.”

He kissed my cheek and I fell asleep with my head still on his chest. I’m pretty sure I fell asleep smiling. I really was starting to believe in happy endings.

Chapter 1
4

Five months had flown by like you wouldn’t believe. Our baby was continuing to grow and I was beginning to get a bigger bump day by day. The fight to wear normal clothes had been well over for a few weeks now and I gave in to maternity pants which I found to be extremely comfortable. Geez, I may wear this even after the baby is born. That little elastic band was heavenly. Gary made me quit working about a week ago but he told me he would keep paying me as if I were there. Trevor was the best husband to be and dad to be I could ask for. He took care of me when morning sickness had taken over my life and I couldn’t even keep down a bagel. Those were definitely the worst times. I was more than happy when I could look at food and eat without getting nauseous. Drinking ginger ale was one of the only things that worked for me and that was a taste I had to learn to adapt to and one I couldn’t wait to forget. He wouldn’t let me do anything anymore. I couldn’t even take showers alone which hey I really wasn’t complaining on that one but really, I could wash my own plate after I finished eating. He practically, no literally waited on me hand and foot. I thought to myself at times, I could actually get pretty used to it. Halley even waited on me for some things and that was unlike her. She and Trevor were beginning to become the perfect tag team. She tried to not let me see she was secretly folding my laundry but I saw grumpily folding piece by piece and wadding all my panties up into balls and I silently thanked her. She kept me up to date on what was going on in The Lounge from her knowledge. The red haired bitch showed up last week and tried to bat her eyes at Trevor but my man paid her no attention. She really didn’t want me to go up there and go hormonal on her ass. She was probably glad I wasn’t there. Little did she know I’d still go to visit eventually because there was no smoking inside The Lounge. Gary used to serve food in there but the state had passed a law about not smoking in restaurants so he abided by the law. When he stopped serving food, he just kept the rule the same. It was nice to go in there and be able to breath something other than smoke.

Halley had been helping me with wedding planning. I wanted to wait til the baby was born, but a part of me wanted to get married before. After talking to Trevor
and weighing both our options, we both decided we’d like to get married before. Our wedding was going to be in a month. It was going to be small and intimate. Basically a small courthouse wedding with Gary, Halley, and Marcus there. We would have our reception at The Lounge and the DJ would just play all night. We all knew most of our customers anyway, why not include them? There was no point in anything more lavish than that. I just wanted them there. They were my family. Halley and I had gone shopping and bought my dress. It was a simple white maternity formal that would accent the belly and I bought a pair of white Toms to wear with it. Halley bought a pink cocktail dress to wear beside me. I was getting so excited. This month couldn’t go by fast enough. Trevor and Marcus both rented their suits. I’m sure Gary was going to do the same. Halley and I had visited the flower shop and we bought at least two hundred dollars’ worth of flowers to place inside The Lounge for our reception. I admit we got a little carried away with the flowers, but as much as I loved The Lounge, I wanted it to look a little nicer than normal on that day. Gary had a friend that was going to cater with little finger foods. I made sure Gary told him we had to have the little cocktail weenies. No wedding reception is complete without them. But when it all comes down to it I know one thing, I can’t wait to become Mrs. Trevor James.

The band was playing tonight and I decided to tag along and get out of the house. As nice as it was to just sit at home
pregnant, it got boring rather quickly. Trevor had basically moved in along with Marcus so that helped our stress of bills. I was able to put away a little more money for the baby bed and everything I had been eyeballing online that I may want or need. I grabbed my favorite maternity jeans and a red blouse and went to change. Trevor walked up and rubbed my belly.

How are my future wife and my beautiful baby doing?”

“We are just fine.” I smiled and reached up to kiss his lips. “I’m just glad to be getting out of this house for a change. This past week has been driving me crazy.”

“I know. It’s not the same not seeing you behind the bar.” He grabbed my hand and we walked into the living room to meet up with Marcus and Halley.

“Hey mama!” She rubbed my belly then continued, “Hey there little fella, ready to go hear your daddy and Uncle Marcus play music?”

I rolled my eyes at her cheesiness and we left to head to The Lounge. Trevor drove my car since neither of us would be drinking tonight. When I found out I was pregnant, of course I stopped drinking and he did too. I told him he didn’t have to but he said if I couldn’t he wouldn’t. It’s the smallest sacrifices like this that made me love him more and more every day. As soon as we walked in, Gary watched me closely. I knew exactly what he was thinking too. He was thinking I just couldn’t stay away no matter how hard I tried. Smiling I let him know, “I swear I’m just here to listen to the band. I’ll be sitting the whole time. With a bottle of water.”

Gary winked and went back into the office. I stepped behind the bar and grabbed a bottle of water for me and a shot of tequila for Halley. We sat at the bar stools while the guys began talking with a few fans. I’d have been stupid not to notice her standing a mere few feet from Trevor. Was she really this persistent or plain stupid? Or both? Halley noticed my stare and looked that way.

“Is she seriously here?”

I hopped off the stool. “Yep. Time to end this shit now.”

Halley followed behind me as I walked up to Trevor. He smiled and announced, “I can’t wait to marry this beautiful woman next month.” He kissed me and the fans erupted into cheers. She practically snarled at me. I didn’t care. Truth hurts whether she liked it or not.

She began to walk off but I stopped her. “Hey.” She stopped dead in her tracks and turned around. “So you’ve been coming in here for a while trying to take what is obviously mine.” I pointed to my ring and my small belly. “Tell me something, what is your name?”

She shot her angry eyes at my ring then my belly then back at my face. “Taylor.”

“Listen Taylor, I think its best you stay away if you can’t keep away from what’s mine. I may not be here all the time anymore but I have eyes and ears in this place. I don’t want trouble from you but you need to watch yourself.”

Taylor looked at me appalled. “Are you threatening me?”

I laughed at her question. This was rather funny. The thought to hit her crossed my mind, she wouldn’t dare touch me, I was pregnant. “You really think I would waste my time threatening you? If I say I’m going to do it, I will. So. Back. Off.”
I made sure to put emphasis on those words. Turning to walk away I glanced back in her direction. “Oh nice to meet you Taylor, I’m Macy, but I am sure you already knew that.”

She stormed off and Halley joined my side. “What just happened?”

“Taylor,” I emphasized, “now knows her place.”

She burst out laughing and we walked back to our men who were getting ready to take the stage. I was jealous he was wearing the shirt he was tonight. It clung too tightly where I wanted no one else to see but I was willing to overlook it just because he looked amazing in it. He gave me a kiss then stepped on stage. He brushed his hair from his eyes and began talking to the crowd. There was a lively bunch in there today. Being pregnant definitely had its ups and downs. Trevor took care of me, I could eat all the food I wanted but the downs were not so great. I was tired all the time and occasionally I started to cramp today and it hurt so
badly. I called Dr. Riley when I first felt one today but he didn’t seem to think it was anything to become worried about. I hadn’t changed anything in my normal routine. I took my prenatal vitamins every morning. Halley and Trevor constantly reminded me even if I told them I had just taken it. I had an appointment tomorrow so I would be sure to ask Dr. Riley any and all questions I had. I was also anxious for tomorrow because we were supposed to find out what we were having. It was the day we’d been waiting for. I winced through a cramp and took a big sip of water.

Halley cheered after the song ended and she looked at me. I was almost doubled over from the last cramp that just hit. I was in pain and she knew it. I couldn’t
lie my way out of this one no matter how hard I tried.

“Mace, you ok? Do you need to try to get up and walk it off?” She took a drink of my water. She had only taken that one shot earlier.

“Yeah I guess that may help. Let’s try. I’m talking to Dr. Riley tomorrow. There has to be a reason for these cramps I’ve had in the last few days. They’re just getting worse now.”

The band just went on break and Marcus and Trevor made their way through the crowd to us. My hand held onto Halley’s to steady myself as I stepped down. I took a deep breath as I prepared to pull myself off the stool. Just as my feet hit the floor, they gave out on me as another cramp hit. Trevor ran to catch me before I could hit the floor.
