     “Max’s Used And New Books.”

“Alright, go lay back down and rest I will take the note to your boss.”

     “
OK
” Angyl said, to shocked too say anything else. As she walked back to the room she snapped out of it and was kicking herself in the ass. How the hell did it happen? How the hell did he get her to work for him? Angyl was so confused, so she laid down and went to sleep.

     “OK
,
so what was that?” Johnathan asked.

     “What was what?” Ace replied.

“You know what I’m talking about, offering to pay that woman double what she makes and if anything should happen to her job, to pay for her expenses for 6 months, that’s just not right, and it’s ridiculous. I think she only threw that in there to get you to say never mind, so I ask you, are you OK?”

“I don’t know.” Ace said as he blew out his breath “I just couldn’t see her go. I don’t know why especially since she is so infuriating, and stubborn I can't seem to get her out of my thoughts.”

“Well fuck her and get it out of your system, she has a kid already, and you’re well, a vampire King.”

“I know, but I don’t think she’s going to be so easy to get into bed.”

“Try being nice to her and sweet talk her.”

     “I don’t know.”

“Well do something, because you need to concentrate on finding your mate.”

“I know, don’t remind me.” Ace said as he walked out the door.

Johnathan sat back and laughed, he had a feeling that Ace really had found his mate, but if he said that out loud Ace would have denied it, so he played it off as if it was nothing. Johnathan sighed. With this situation, it was on Ace to figure what he needed to do; Johnathan just hoped Ace wasn't too big of an idiot to lose her.

Chapter 2

David had plotted his escape from prison very meticulously, he had decided he was going to find his no good ex-wife and finish what he started years ago. If he couldn’t have her then no one would. He loved her and he decided he would give her one more chance to come to her senses and come back to him. He’d ask and if she said no, this time he wouldn’t just strangle her, he would make her pay slowly and painfully. The stupid bitch got him put in prison, so she was going to pay. Then after he punished her, he would take care of her, like he always did. All he had to do now was wait 2 more days and his plan could go into action for his escape, not long now.

Angyl awoke from a nightmare, screaming. She remembered it clearly, her ex-husband was out and coming after her, he was trying to kill her again. After she stopped screaming, Angyl started crying she couldn’t help it, she always cried after one of those dreams, she knew she was free of him but she was still scared of him.

As she was finally calming down Ace slammed the door open, and Angyl went into a flash back and her face showed nothing but stark terror. Ace saw this and knew automatically that something really bad happened to her so he talked to her in a calming voice as he moved closer to the bed to hold and rock her.

“Shh, it's OK. Your safe baby. No one's going to hurt you.” Ace said calmly “Come on honey, look around your safe come on, it’s OK.”

It was then that Angyl started crying again. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry.” She cried over and over hysterically.

“Baby, you didn’t do anything wrong.”

Ace realized what might have happened to her and he now wanted to find the asshole who did this to her and rip his throat out. It took everything not to shake a name out of her, as to who had made her this way. He vowed that he was going to help her become strong and unafraid. She needed to be strong and not freak out whenever a door slammed roughly, even if it killed him, he was going to bring her strength back to the fiery side he saw when she stood up to him earlier.

He looked down and noticed Angyl asleep again, he stayed in there just holding her and thinking. He decided that he was going to win her trust one way or another and trust him enough to tell him everything that had happened to her. It was while he was thinking all this that he fell asleep while holding Angyl in his arms.

Angyl awoke the next day wrapped up in Ace's arms. It took her a minute to remember what had happened to her last night and how Ace had ended up in the bed with her. When she remembered, she was so embarrassed.  She thought she had finally gotten over the flash backs, only to realize that certain things will end up bringing them back up. Ace was still asleep, so Angyl decided to snuggle closer for a moment, while thinking how great it would be to just kiss him. Hell she wanted to do more to him than just kiss him; she wanted to rip his clothes off....

She quickly jumped out of bed and ran into the bathroom. What could be wrong with her; she didn’t know Ace, she had just met him and already she wanted to just spend a night having hot sweaty passionate sex, all night long. It was then that Angyl remembered her ex-husband David, he was locked up in prison and David wasn’t ever getting out. She didn’t know why she was still so scared of him, but she couldn’t tell this stranger what had happened to her. After what had happened last night, though she knew that Ace would want to know. She decided to figure it out as she turned on the water for her to take a shower.

Ace awoke to the sound of the shower, and remembered clearly, what had happened the night before. Now he was plotting a way to get her to open up to him and he got an idea in his head. First, he wasn’t going to push her to tell him, he would tell her that she didn’t have to talk about it until she was ready, if ever. Second, he was going to make sure that if she had any more bad dreams or flash backs, he was going to be there. Last but not least he was going to get up and get dressed, then start trying to sweep her off her feet by fixing her breakfast. Then later, he would take her to the library to hear her ideas. Even though books were not an interest of his, he could tell that they were an interest for her. Heck, from the way she looked at them it was more like books were a passion for her.

Angyl stepped out of the shower only to realize she didn’t have any clean clothes to put on, but she did find a robe hanging in the bathroom so she opted to wear the robe instead of putting her dirty clothes back on. She walked out of the bedroom only to find that Ace was no longer laying in the bed. She felt a twinge of loneliness not seeing Ace still in her bed and she didn’t know where it had come from, considering she had just met the man.

She decided to leave the room in search of a kitchen because she was starving and as she walked around the house, she looked at the paintings on the wall. They weren’t anything she had ever seen before, they were pictures of places so green that you could almost smell the air that the plants created, the water in them was so blue that it was clean and clear and like a dream, and the creatures in these paintings were a mixture of creatures here, but it was also like something you would read in a fantasy book or horror book or even see in movies. It wasn’t like anything she had ever imagined before, she wondered who the artist was of these paintings but couldn’t find a signature anywhere. Ace didn’t strike her as a painter and these pictures looked old, really, really old. Maybe it was one of Aces ancestors. She would have to ask him about them.

Her stomach decided to growl, which pushed her into moving again on her search of the kitchen. Just as she found it, a wonderful smell hit her, which just made her push through the kitchen doors, just to stop with her mouth gaping at the picture she saw before her. There was Ace, in an apron (which was a sight in itself) holding a spatula with 2 plates stacked with about 5 pancakes, 2 eggs over medium, 5 strips of bacon, and 5 sausage links and all Angyl could think was how her son would love this meal, which gave her a sad twinge because she missed her son. Then she got another twinge that told her that she was hungry.

“Wow so you’re a guy and you know how to cook.” Angyl said with a giggle in her voice.

“Ya, my mom had decided that I was to learn how to cook, so no matter what, I could take care of myself.” He said. He thought about how he didn’t live off of food. If he just ate cooked food he would starve to death, because his body could only survive off of blood. He could still eat regular food without getting sick, he even liked the way some of it tasted, but he wasn’t going to share any of these facts with Angyl. As much as he wanted to, he couldn't share this part of himself with her unless she figured it out for herself.  If she ever did figure it out for herself.

“Well, it smells good, hopefully it doesn’t poison me.” she said jokingly.

“If it does I have a Doctor right on hand.” Ace joked.

“That you do. Why do you have a Doctor on hand?” Angyl laughed.

“It's a long story, maybe someday I will share it with you, but right now let’s eat. I’m sure you’re hungry, I know I am.”

“I’m starved.” she said, as he set the plates in front of them.

Angyl then took a bite and she was in heaven, the food was so good everything about it was cooked just the way she liked it and she scarfed down the whole plate before she realized it was gone.

“You must have been hungry.” Ace replied.

“I was, but it was also the food you made. It was delicious; it was so good that before I knew it I had scarfed the whole plate down.” Angyl said giggling.

“Ya, I just made everything the way I like it, the eggs over medium, the sausage with a little syrup over them, the pancakes with a lot of syrup, and the bacon not crunch but cooked to just before it got crunchy.” Ace said smiling at Angyl, he really loved hearing her giggle.

“I could tell, that’s the way I like my food as well.”

“We have something in common, we can start there. After you get dressed we can go check out the library and get an idea of where you want to start”

Angyl blushed then said, “ I can't get dressed my clothes are filthy, and I don’t have any other clothes to wear.”

“Oh, let me see what I can do.” he picked up the phone and called someone.

“Abigail, I have a guest who’s about your size and she doesn’t have any clothes. Could you please bring something for her to wear....OK....You’ll be here in about 5 mins then? OK, see you then.”

“I’m having clothes brought here for you to borrow. Then instead of going to the library, we will go to your place and pick up some things you will be needing.”

“OK, thank you.” she said as she gaped at him not understanding why he was being so nice to her.

“I’m going to my room then.” Just before Angyl could head to her room, Ace pulled her into him and kissed her. Not a peck but a deep passionate kiss. Ace didn't know why he was drawn to Angyl, but he didn't want to be away from her. Angyl had butterflies in her stomach she wanted to do more and she didn't understand why. She had to push Ace away, they were moving too fast. After she pushed him away she wanted to bring him back. So instead she ran off to her room.

Ace ran after Angyl after they separated, he tried knocking on her bedroom door. “Angyl I'm sorry, I shouldn't have done that, I am sorry.”

“Ace, I'm sorry I can't do this, I like you, but can we take this slow please.”
