Author’s Note

(Huh. That looks weirdly formal.)

Confession: I’ve never written an author’s note. I always figured, ‘isn’t that what you just spent 3500 locations/200 pages reading?’ But it’s on my bucket list, so here goes.

This little story started out when I decided gamers didn’t get enough love in the contemporary romance world. So, I wanted to see what happened if you threw a gamer together with a banker—in the office and between the sheets. I was pleasantly surprised with the results of this experiment. Payton and Max were a lot of fun, as were Charlie and Riley. I’m already missing them, and will have to check back with them soon…

This book let me channel all of my favorite things: humor, heat, and a little quirk. I crave quirk the way some people crave kink—and I’m proud of it. I’m also the biggest cheerleader for stories where the girls aren’t doormats, the guys aren’t assholes, and the secondary characters aren’t wallpaper.
Fortunately
, there are a lot more of these books than there used to be. Props to romance writers for creating them and readers for demanding them.
