One by one they began to arrive and we went out on the back patio. Sometimes I miss the city but we knew we couldn’t raise our kids there forever. The suburban area we settled on was nice and I still worked at Chestnut on a part time basis. Kelsey and I split the job so I had more time at home with my sweet baby girl and of course I had my summers and all holidays off. It was a working mom’s dream job. Sam came down with our daughter looking fresh and clean. She was dressed in a pink and white sear sucker sundress and she had a pink bow on the side of her wavy brown hair. She looked so much like Sam. She had his eyes. Thank God. Georgia and Tyler came in last all tan and looking like movie stars.

“Well hello Mr. and Mrs. Jensen! Welcome home!” Sam exclaimed.

He held open his arms for her to join him. Georgia rolled her eyes and stepped into his arms.

“Thanks ass hat. Where’s my gorgeous niece? I need to tell her something.”

“She outside playing with little Jake.” We all walked outside and everyone greeted the newly married couple. Georgia bent down and picked up our daughter.

“Hey baby girl. Did you miss me.? Tell me again. Whose your favorite designer? Come on you know.”

“Goosi” She replied

Tyler interrupted. “ Did she just say Gucci?”

“That she did my dear brother in law slash best friend. You have to live with her. I don’t.” Sam patted him on the shoulder.

“Fuck off ass hat.” Georgia said looking over her shoulder at Sam.

“Georgia Claire. Watch your mouth in front of the baby.” Mom yelled

“Sorry girlfriend. Speaking of babies my little niece after your brother comes how’s about we get you a cousin.?” She grinned and I realized what she was saying.

“Georgia are you, Ty is she…. Are you guys… Having a baby?”

She shook her head and Tyler fisted in the air a big yes!

I began to cry and so did my mom.

“How far along are you? I asked

“Two months.”

I was doing the math in my head.” Two months but you just got… oh I see.”

“Georgia Claire Garrett. I mean Jensen!” My mother said in a disapproving tone. “ You were pregnant before you got married.”

“I didn’t know mom. I felt sick the whole time on our honey moon but I wasn’t paying attention. Besides mom it’s not like we weren’t getting married. We just got carried away. Like we always do.” She winked at Tyler who did so back at her.

Sam stood up and hugged them both. Then he raised his glass and asked everyone to raise their glasses for a toast.

“Let’s hear it for the parents to be Tyler and Georgia. May this baby bring you a lifetime of happiness and laughter. May this baby bring you as much joy as our little Charlotte has given us.”

From my mom’s lap a tiny little voice yelled out. “ I Charley.”

Everyone laughed.

“I’m sorry baby girl I meant Charley. I know you don’t like Charlotte. If it’s a girl may she have her mother’s looks and not her filthy mouth. Cheers.”

Georgia stuck up her middle finger and him and laughed.

“See I’m doing good already. No cursing just hand gestures.”

“That’s my girl.” Tyler whacked her on her ass.

“Later baby.” She said with a wink at him.

I took the flowers my sister gave me and walked into the living room.

Sam walked over and took Charley from my mom’s arms and followed me into the house. I was putting the flowers in a vase on the mantle of our fire place and I looked at all the pictures that aligned it. Our wedding picture, Charley’s first ultrasound, a picture of all three of us in the hospital when she was born and a picture of my dad. Next to it was the little porcelain box I kept by my bedside for years. On top of it was a gold plate that read

“Baby Charlie Reynolds

Forever and Angel”

Sam got that for me the day I found out I was pregnant with Charley. I knew whether that baby was a boy or a girl I needed to name it after it’s brother and grandfather. My daughter was every bit of my dad too. Feisty and loving with a huge heart.

Sam came up behind me with Charley and put an arm around my shoulder.

“You ok Savy.”

“I’m fine honey. Just happy that’s all.”

“Appy mama “ Charley pointed to herself.

“Aw good baby girl that’s all I’ve ever wanted for you.”

Sam took my hand and led me to the middle of the living room floor.

“May I have this dance?” He turned to me and said and then turned to Charley and asked the same.

He grabbed my shoulder and I grabbed his arm with Charley in the middle of us. We began to sway and he began to sing that old Four Seasons song. Our song. The one he sang to me the first night we kissed and the one he sang to me when he asked me to marry him and the one he sang to me during my 20 hours of labor with Charley and the one he sings to her when he rocks her at night.

It was always his song to me but now that there was another woman in his life, I figured what the hell, I can share.
