“I want to hear you scream my name.” He pulled the lip from between her teeth. “Never hide anything from me.”

She whimpered, giving in to what he wanted.

“That’s it, let me hear you.” He pulled out of her pussy, drawing his finger up to circle her clit then going back down, thrusting inside. She started to thrust up to meet him, the need building inside her. “Fuck, I’ve got to be inside you. I don’t want to wait anymore.”

He moved between her thighs, and she watched as he aligned the tip with her entrance, and with one thrust was deeply inside her. Even though they fucked nearly every single night, that first thrust was always the hardest. He stretched her walls, making her gasp and moan.

“You’re so fucking tight.”

She wrapped her legs around him, and Abel grabbed her hands, pressing them above her head. She arched up, trying to touch him.

He took possession of her lips, thrusting inside her at the same time. Kissing him back, Harper forgot about the fear, the pacing, the trouble. All she could focus on was the man inside her, the man she was loving, her Abel.

This was the man that was real, and she wanted more than anything.

“I can’t get deep enough,” he said, growling the words against her lips. Suddenly, he pulled out, flipped her onto her knees, and moved her so that she was kneeling on the edge of the bed.

Within seconds, Abel was inside her, and he was deeper than ever before. He held onto her hips, pounding inside her.

They had been making love, and this, it was pure fucking. He slapped her ass, making her yelp. “I feel how wet you are, baby. You love this, don’t you?”

She moaned her answer. He was stroking over a spot within her that was making her wetter. She didn’t think it was possible to be this wet, and yet it was.

He slammed inside, pausing. She felt every inch of his cock, and she tried to wiggle. He slapped her ass to keep her in place. “I’m the one in charge right now.”

His voice was deep, commanding, and it turned her on. The hand on her hip moved across her ass, stroking over her anus. She gasped.

“You were a virgin when I met you. Have you ever heard of anal?”

“Yes.” She had been a virgin, not dead.

“I’m going to take your ass. I’m going to own every inch of you, Harper. I love you, babe, so fucking much that it kills me to see you in pain.”

It was moments like this that made Harper feel guilty for ever doubting him. This was why she wouldn’t go and search his name on the internet, or go asking about him. She didn’t want to ruin moments like this. The way he looked at her, felt inside her, and talked. She loved every second of it. His thumb stroked over her ass, and she tensed up.

“Don’t worry about it, baby. I’ll get you ready for me.”

She gasped as he pressed, the tip of his thumb entering her ass.

“Fuck, you are perfect. Truly fucking perfect.”

He slammed inside her, over and over again. The thumb inside her ass stayed there. She thrust back against him as he rammed inside her, over and over again. He went so deep within her.

“Please, please, I need you,” she said.

“Touch yourself, baby. Let me feel you come around my dick.”

She stroked over her clit, moaning as each touch seemed to tighten her pussy around him. He was so thick, so big, and so amazing.

Abel pounded within her, making her take every inch. Fingering her pussy, she came around him, screaming his name.

Seconds later, he joined her, the flood of his arousal startling her with the ferocity.

“Fuck, baby, never leave me,” he said.

“Don’t give me a chance to.”

Chapter Ten

Abel made his way up to his father’s office. He’d been married for three months, and so far, everything was going according to plan. Standing at the elevator, he rubbed at his eyes. He was so damn tired. Living two lives was exhausting, and he wasn’t even cheating.

“You weren’t at dinner yesterday,” Oliver said. “How come?”

Oliver was born after him, and like all Denton men, he had a cold streak. His brother was known as the torturer. He looked for trouble, and he made sure there was always a survivor to tell the tale. Out of all of the men, Oliver was the most bloodthirsty.

“I spent the day with Harper.”

“Ah, does that mean she’s the reason you haven’t been home for dinner in a while?” Oliver asked. “She’s got those claws in you tight.”

“The first day I took Harper there, Landon and fucking Tamsin nearly spilled our fucking secrets.”

“It’s our fucking family. ‘Round that table is total honesty. Tamsin’s eleven, and she knows not to spill shit.” Oliver pressed the button to the elevator.

“I already did that!”

“Someone’s in a mood.”

“We went to see her parents this weekend, okay? It was a little stressful.” He moved his head from side to side, recalling how awkward some of the moments were. Her mother, Molly, had been a real sweetheart. Her brothers, not so much. Then there was the dad, Brian. He’d taken him out back with a fucking shotgun. Her parents had done the research on the Denton name. Fuck, his own father had reached out to Brian and Molly before Abel had even met them.

Brian had made him vow to not only tell Harper the truth, but to also protect her. To keep her away from their way of life. Abel was trying to keep that vow. With every passing day, he found it harder to lie to her. It wasn’t really lying. No, he simply wasn’t telling her the truth. He didn’t know what was worse, him lying by omission, or just plain lying.

“Are they normal?” Oliver asked.

“They’re parents, fuckhead.” The elevator doors opened, and they entered.

“Well, Landon is grounded again. Mom’s ready to call for vacation. Jacob and Lou are expecting again.”

“Congratulations.”

“They announced it at dinner yesterday. You weren’t there.”

“I get it. I’m a bad brother.”

“You’re not a bad brother. Just an absent one. Do you think keeping Harper away from the family will some way protect her?”

“I don’t know what I’m doing. I only know that I’ve got to do something. This is not the world she lives in,” he said.

“You’re selfish,” Oliver said.

“What the fuck did you say?” Abel turned toward his brother.

“You heard me. You’re fucking selfish.”

“You don’t even have a woman so you don’t know shit.”

Oliver snorted. “I know enough to know that when I have my woman, she won’t be left at home wondering where the fuck I am. Did you know that? Did you know the first night back she was calling her friends, Mom, and then Dad to find out where you were?”

Abel took a step toward him. “I was doing my job.”

“Yeah? Part of your job is making sure your woman is taken care of.”

“Is this more bullshit about me telling her the truth?”

“Why should it? You don’t take notice of shit. You’re fucking useless right now. No one will tell you.”

Abel slammed his fist against Oliver’s mouth. “I’m fucking useless? Dad’s having to clean up your mess—”

He didn’t get to finish as Oliver charged him, slamming him against the wall. So much anger and pent up frustration had built inside Abel, and he unleashed the monster he thought had been tamed.

Pounding his fists into his brother’s flesh, he took the fight that he’d started with Oliver. Like all Denton men, his brother didn’t back down. Even when the elevator pinged onto their father’s floor, they continued to fight each other, determined to be the one that won. He’d had enough of people telling him how to deal with Harper. None of them knew her like he did.

She was strong, just not strong enough to deal with what they were.

Are you strong enough?

He ignored the question running through his head. Abel couldn’t live without her, and he knew once she left, she wouldn’t be coming back.

They landed outside of the elevator, hitting the floor with a grunt. Abel straddled his brother, and started to land a couple of blows. Oliver, always known for fighting dirty, reached down, gripped his balls, and twisted. Crying out, Abel fell to the floor gripping his nuts.

“What the fuck is going on here?” their father asked, storming out of his office.

Abel turned to see his brother and Uncle Stuart glaring at them.

“Sorry, a little problem.”

“You’re becoming
my
problem,” Maddox said, glaring at him. “You’re late again.”

“What about him?” Abel asked, pointing toward Oliver, who stood as if he hadn’t just been pounded in the head. He was convinced their mom dropped him. Oliver was not right, or normal.

“Oliver is on time. Oliver turns up for work. Oliver doesn’t have someone living with them who can be a fucking risk to all of us, Abel.” Maddox looked around the room.

It was then that Abel saw all of his brothers, and that sobered him up. His brothers, his uncles, his father’s anger, it could only mean one thing: there was a problem.

“Everyone in my office now!”

Getting to his feet, Abel made his way into his father’s office. Standing up, he ignored the throbbing pain in his dick, hoping that Harper would get pregnant soon so he didn’t have to worry about fathering children. Oliver always fought dirty. The bastard!

“What’s going on?” Jacob asked.

“The Moores have … caused a problem.”

The Moores were Lou’s parents.

“What have Eric and Gertrude done now?” Jacob asked.

“Through their ring they have been initiating fights to the death.” The fights were usually rare. Abel had fought to the death many times. The Moores handled the underground fighting. It was the task they had always done. Rich people liked to see something dirty and bloody, so they went underground, paid a shitload of cash to see it. Death fights, they were one step further, and darker than a simple underground fight.

“My friend in the force brought me over the file. Several men and women have been found in abandoned factories, bloodied, raped, with a simple D carved on their chests.” Maddox pointed at the file, lifting out a picture of a woman. She was black and blue, but across her naked bruised tits was the carving of the D. It was violent. This wasn’t new gore to them.

Abel had seen and done similar shit all over the city with their enemies. Denton was the name to be feared. He did what he had to in order to protect the family name.

“It’s pointing toward us,” Damian said. “The D, it’s for Denton. Everyone knows it.”

“The cops will do a search of our homes. I’ve already gotten our lawyers on it. They cannot search without probable cause. James will be there if we need him. Until then, I want you to find out everything on the Moores. I want to know who they’re working for. They’re not working for me. Has Lou heard anything?” he asked, turning toward Jacob.

“Lou doesn’t talk to them. She goes to Riley’s grave. That’s the extent of what she does.”

“How many brothers does she have?” Maddox asked.

“There are two of them,” Jacob said.

“Abel, locate the other two brothers. Oliver, there’s a fight tonight. Take Gideon and Damian. I want to know everything there is to know about them. Stuart, reach out to Marshall. I want to know if he’s part of this.”

Marshall had his own turf outside of the city. He did a mean ass barbeque. For the most part, he was a good guy. Abel doubted he’d try to pin deaths on the Dentons.

“Bruce, I want you to rally up some men. Our women need to be protected.”

“Stay outside of my apartment,” Abel said.

“She still doesn’t know?” Maddox asked.

“There’s no reason to tell her.”

Maddox pointed at him. “I’ll deal with you later. Go! I want information by this morning.”

Abel left the office first. He took the stairs, not interested in being in the elevator.

“You going to run,” Jacob asked.

Pausing mid-step, he looked up at his brother. “I’ve got a job to do.”

“Take my advice, call Harper. Tell her you’re going to be late.”

“Did you know about this?”

“What? The Moores causing a problem?”

“Yeah.”

“No. I didn’t know they were causing a problem. I know they’re a pain in the ass, but I haven’t dealt with them in a long time.”

“They killed Riley,” Abel said.

“Exactly. Lou … struggles at times with his loss, even now. I wouldn’t do anything to hurt her.”

“Where can I find the asshole brothers?”

“Anywhere. Drug pits, whores, fights, drinks. They’re lowlifes.”

Abel ran fingers through his hair. “That’s the entire city.”

“And Marshall’s turf as well. It’s going to be an interesting few weeks.”

“Who do you think is targeting us?” Abel asked.

“I don’t know. We’re Dentons. It could be anyone. Someone wanting a piece of the pie. I’m not worried. This isn’t the first time some asshole has come after us.”

“What will you tell Lou?” he asked.

“The truth. I’ll let her know what is going on, what we think, and ask if she has any idea of who could be causing us come problems. Once you start to talk to your woman, everything else just falls into place. It’s kind of magic like that.” Jacob winked at him.

“Is that where you’re going now? To talk to your wife?”

“Yep.”

Abel watched his brother walk away. Pulling out his cell phone, he dialed Harper’s number. She was staying at the apartment with Betty and Lara.

“Hey, are you coming home early?” she asked, giggling.

“I wish I was, baby. Something came up at the casino. I’ve got to stay a little later, so I’m going to crash at our place tonight.”

“You are?”

“Yeah, I know it’s not normal for me. We’ll talk about it soon.”

“Oh, okay, Abel. Are you okay?” she asked.

“Yeah, I’m fine. Missing you.”

“I miss you, too.” She blew a kiss down the phone, and he smiled. “I’ve got classes all day tomorrow, and then I’m working for James at night. He’s got a big case, and I’m helping with the research part.”

“I can’t believe you’re still working for that loser.”

“Hey, he’s not a loser. It’s kind of fun.”

“I’ve got to go, babe. Love you.”

“Love you, too.”

Hanging up the cell, Abel closed his eyes, rubbing at his temples. He couldn’t think of his woman tonight. He had to think about the job.

****

The following day, Harper walked out of her final class to see Lou leaning against a car. Beside her was a large man, and the two were chatting away. Betty and Lara already had plans, and Harper had thought about surprising her man.

Making her way over to the car, she stopped, seeing Riley Denton sitting in his car seat.

“Hey,” Lou said.

“What are you doing here?”

She liked Lou. They had talked a few times on the phone, and met for coffee a couple of times. Lou was down to earth, and wasn’t afraid to call her man an ass. To Harper, it was still strange for her to think of Abel as her man. They had been married for three months and a week, and even now she didn’t know much about him. She liked being with him, loving him, and he was a good man. Just secretive, which didn’t make for a great experience, but she could handle it, she hoped.

“I thought we could go get some dinner before you have to go and to work.”

“That’s really nice.” She looked at the guy she didn’t recognize.

“Oh, this is Liam. Jacob put him on wife duty to make sure I’m fine.” Lou touched her stomach. “I’m expecting another little Denton.”

“Oh, wow, congratulations.” She threw her arms around Lou, hugging her tightly. “It’s nice to meet you,” she said, offering a hand.

It took Liam a second of staring at her hand before he finally shook it. His hands were really cold. Fall was slowly gaining on them, as was the cold weather. Removing her hand, she smiled at the two. “Where are we going for coffee?”

“How about that café over the street from your work? Is it any good?”

“I don’t know. I’ve never been there. I think it’s okay.”

“Great, climb in.”

Rounding the car, she climbed into the passenger seat, giving Riley a kiss on the cheek, and giggling as he made little noises.

“When are you due?” Harper asked.

“I’ve got a good few months. Jacob worries all the time. I don’t think it would matter how far along I was, he’d worry.” Lou didn’t sit up front with Liam. “How is married life?”

“Fine.”
I think.

“That’s it, fine?”
