“How about some cake?” Quinn said, glancing at the slices still sitting untouched on the table. Nate snorted, but didn't move to lift his head off Quinn's chest. “What’s wrong, baby? Don’t you want to try some cake? I know I’m dying to taste your cake... That delicious, plump, soft cake...”

Nate’s shoulders were shaking with laughter as he slapped Quinn's chest playfully. “Stop! Please, stop. You’re so bad at this.” The huge grin on Nate’s face said otherwise. Quinn had achieved exactly what he was going for.

Nate turned and reached for a plate, placing it on Quinn's chest.

“We don’t have any spoons,” Quinn observed. Nate grinned impishly at him, propping his head on his elbow.

Dragging a finger through the chocolate icing, Nate offered it to Quinn who didn't hesitate to suck it into his mouth. The rich, creamy chocolate exploded on his tongue and he moaned, sucking harder on Nate’s finger.

“Who needs a spoon?” Nate said in a husky, sexy voice, watching Quinn with hooded eyes.

“Not me.”

Nate smirked, claiming his finger back only to dip it in the icing again, dabbing Quinn's lower lip with it. Leaning in, he licked it off, a soft moan escaping his lips before he kissed the rest of the icing away.

They finished the cake in a messy tangle of fingers, lips, tongues and teeth. By the time the plate was clean both Nate and Quinn were a sticky, chocolate mess.

“I think a shower is inevitable now,” Quinn said, making Nate groan. “Come on. Get that perky ass of yours off me and go start the water.” With one final kiss, Nate obeyed.

The water ran down Nate’s back, dropping into a little waterfall at the curve of his ass. Quinn lathered his body with his hands, spreading the suds evenly all over his skin, rubbing at the knots in his muscles. Nate relaxed against him, his wet hair tickling his chin. A deep, content sigh escaped his lips as he dropped his head on Quinn's shoulder, completely surrendering into his arms.

Quinn continued his sensual massage on Nate’s soapy skin, placing little kisses on his neck, his jaw, his ear. Having Nate in his arms like this, completely relaxed and peaceful, was a far cry from the usually high-strung, snarky – and more recently angry – Nate. Quinn loved him in any shape or form, but this Nate, he’d decided, was his favorite.

“Don’t fall asleep on me,” Quinn whispered in Nate’s ear, wrapping his arms around his waist. “You’re too slippery for me to carry you to bed.”

Nate huffed out a laugh. “I’m not falling asleep.”

“You’re never this still or this quiet unless you’re falling asleep.”

“That’s because I’ve been thinking,” Nate said, turning effortlessly in Quinn's slick embrace and raising his wet, clustered eyelashes to look at him.

“Uh-oh,” Quinn said, earning himself a playful slap on his ass.

“I had a lot of time to think today, when you locked yourself in your room,” he began, the playfulness in his eyes from a moment ago completely gone. “I hate that we lost all that time. I hate that you had to go through all this alone. I hate that I resented you for so long, making my soul shrivel and slowly die.” Nate took a shuddering breath, looking away for a second as if searching for the right words. The water beat on his back and ran in graceful trails down his chest, his stomach, his arms. Quinn drew him closer, sharing the water between them. “But, in a twisted, fucked up way, and despite losing you for so long, I think what you did for Kai makes me love you even more.”

Nate’s eyes shone with unshed tears as he looked at Quinn, the naked, raw vulnerability in them making Quinn's heart constrict painfully. He didn’t know what to say, any words he might have come up with would have gotten lodged in his throat anyway.

“No more leaving, Quinn,” Nate continued, the emotion in his eyes hardening to new-found determination. “No more protecting me from the big, bad world. No more making choices for me. No more secrets.” He stared at Quinn, searching his eyes for confirmation, his hand stroking the Aiden tattoo on his ribs absentmindedly. Quinn knew that right now, right this moment, was when he’d win Nate back or lose him forever. “From now on it’s you and I against the world. Together.”

“Yes,” Quinn managed to say past the lump in his throat. “Together,” he whispered before claiming Nate’s mouth in a fierce kiss that sealed his promise.

Chapter twelve

WHEN QUINN woke up the next morning, Nate was curled beside him, his arm thrown across Quinn's chest. It was a sight Quinn had imagined many times, but his imagination had nothing on the real thing. Nate’s hair was dishevelled, even more so than usual as he’d gone to bed without drying it first. His mouth was red and swollen, slightly open as he slept. In the light of day, Quinn noticed the beard burn on his jaw and the red marks on his neck and chest where Quinn had bit and sucked on his skin.

The rational part of Quinn's brain felt a stab of guilt for hurting Nate, even if he’d loved every second of it. But the bigger, primal part, loved seeing his mark on Nate.

“Mornin’,” Nate said without opening his eyes. His red lips spread into a lazy smile. “I can hear you thinking, Quinn. Whatever it is I’m sure it’s not important, so stop it and let’s go back to sleep.” He snuggled closer, throwing his leg over Quinn's thighs.

“Not important, eh?” Quinn said, his hands sneaking around Nate. “Well then, if it’s not important I guess I can do this.”

With his hands around Nate’s ribs Quinn started tickling him, making Nate squirm and shriek, his laughter bouncing off the walls. Quinn rolled completely on top of him, caging him with his bigger body as he continued his assault. Nate could barely breathe when he started to beg Quinn to stop, tears trickling down the side of his face.

Quinn took pity on him, stilling his hands and leaning down to kiss him instead. Nate panted into his mouth, unconsciously spreading his legs wider, his fingers digging into Quinn's neck as he pulled him closer. They had both gone to bed naked last night, and Quinn thanked the stars for the lack of barriers between them. Their hard cocks, already leaking between them, slid together as Quinn rolled his hips against Nate’s.

Quinn hadn’t been with anyone since Nate. He was too busy and too depressed to look for casual hook ups when he’d gone back to Chicago. There had been a time when he’d thought his libido was completely gone, even if he was still in his twenties.

The past twenty four hours had proved him wrong. He’d never felt so alive, so
horny
, in his life. They could be snowed in here for weeks, months, and all Quinn would want to do is fuck Nate into oblivion the whole time. Or, let Nate fuck him.

The thought of feeling Nate inside him sent sparks of pleasure straight to his cock and he gasped, thrusting even harder against Nate. He seemed as eager as Quinn, flexing his hips off the bed, meeting Quinn's thrusts. They devoured each other, sucking and licking as they moved together, chasing the sweet release.

“Fuck, babe,” Nate moaned, throwing his head back on the pillow. “Don’t stop...” He bowed off the bed, his eyes dark with raw desire. “Just... I need more. Grab both our cocks and make us come, Quinn.”

Quinn did just that and after a few sharp tugs, they were both spilling between their bodies, moans of pleasure getting lost in a searing kiss.

“Quinn!” Nate shouted as he ran into the bathroom. Quinn startled, nearly slipping in the tub.

“What’s wrong? Did Brandon call?” Quinn pulled the shower curtain away to look at Nate. He didn't look worried at all, on the contrary. His eyes were shining with the childish joy Quinn loved so much.

“No, still no coverage. But did you see?” Nate bounced on the balls of his feet, his damp hair falling into his face. They’d decided to take separate showers this morning if they ever wanted to do anything but sex.

“Did I see what?”

“The storm! It’s over. Well, at least for now. There’s no wind, it’s not snowing anymore and the sky is clear. The best part is there’s a ton of virgin, white snow right outside our door, begging for us to roll in it!”

Quinn laughed; Nate’s enthusiasm was contagious. “Can we at least have breakfast first?”

Nate’s face fell a little. “How about cake for breakfast?” He suggested.

“Who doesn’t love cake for breakfast?”

Outside, bundled in as many layers as possible and wearing a hat, gloves, and a scarf, Nate marvelled at the sight in front of him. His green eyes looked paler against the blinding white of the never-ending snow.

Everything was covered in snow. The road couldn’t even be seen under the two feet deep pile of snow. The trees had huge white domes on top of them, chunks falling from the sides, threatening to break under their own weight. The car was just an insignificant bump in the snow, too small in the huge, white expanse of snow covered land.

“Wow!” Nate said in awe. “I think this is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen!”

Eyes huge with wonder, Nate braved the steps of the house, leaving a trail of footsteps behind him. The snow reached his waist when he got down, and without a moment of hesitation, flopped down on it, face first. Laughing, he struggled to get up, the snow too soft to gain any real purchase.

“Come on, Quinn. Get in here,” he yelled over his shoulder, his cheeks already red from the cold. “Come help me up!”

There was no getting out of this, so Quinn followed in Nate’s trail, reaching him quickly. Pulling him up by the waist, Quinn helped him up, just so that Nate could fall down on his back a yard away. He flapped his arms and legs like a butterfly, making distorted snow angels, and, to Quinn's horror, singing Jingle Bells at the top of his lungs.

“Don’t be a Grinch, Quinn,” Nate said, hearing Quinn's deep groan.

The snowball Quinn made landed right on Nate’s chest and he yelled in protest. Quinn laughed at Nate’s hurt expression when he got up, but quickly realized it was a cover up when Nate threw a giant snowball at him, hitting him in the ribs.

“Oh, now it’s on,” Quinn said, running – or rather awkwardly hopping – in the deep snow towards the car.

Nate’s laughter bounced off the piles of snow around them as he made snowball after snowball, hurling them at Quinn and rolling in the snow with laughter every time he managed to hit him. Quinn got a few nice hits, too, before he started freezing his ass off in the cold, wet snow.

“We should go back in, Nate,” he said, carefully peeking around the car. He was nowhere to be seen.

Unfortunately, the snow around them was already messed up, and Quinn couldn’t track where Nate had gone. “Nate?”

Splat!

A giant snowball landed on the back of his head, dispersing in a million tiny, freezing pieces that slid down Quinn's neck and under his coat. The cold, melting snow felt unpleasant on his warm skin, and Quinn shivered. Slowly, he turned to face Nate whose triumphant expression quickly fell when he saw Quinn's face.

“Oh, shit!” Nate turned on his heel and ran, the well-trodden snow around them making it easier for him.

Quinn's legs were longer, though, and he’d played football in high school. Nate stood no chance of getting away, especially as he kept turning around and giggling over his shoulder. It took Quinn less than ten seconds to catch up to him, and tackle him to the ground. They fell into the fluffy snow with a humph, Nate squirming under Quinn.

“Let me go!” He screamed his lungs off as Quinn piled snow on his back, tucking as much as he could under Nate’s collar.

“Scream all you want, baby. Nobody around to hear you.”

Nate bucked his hips hard, with every intention of dislodging Quinn off his back. Quinn lost his balance, and that was all Nate needed to crawl away from him. Turning on his back he tried to stand up, but Quinn’d regained his balance and fell on top of him, catching Nate’s wrists and pinning them above his head.

“Do you surrender?” He asked, raising an eyebrow and smirking, knowing damn well it would make Nate fight him even more.

“Never!” Nate yelled, twisting underneath him.

“Are you sure?” Quinn said, his voice dropping low as he thrust his hips into Nate’s, showing him how turned on he was.

“You play dirty,” Nate complained, his movements slowing down as his eyes locked on Quinn's.

“That, I do.”

Quinn kissed Nate’s cold lips, their warm breaths mingling together. Nate moaned, tried to free his hands, but Quinn held them tighter, loving the feeling of being in control, of having Nate pinned underneath him, helpless and moaning, entirely at his mercy.

“We should go in,” Nate said between kisses.

“Oh,
now
we should go in?”

“What can I say? Your persuasion technique works.”

Quinn laughed, getting off Nate and reaching out a hand to help him up. Nate took it and they walked hand in hand back to the cabin.

Inside, Quinn couldn't wait to get his wet clothes off. They made a puddle in the entryway as they peeled off all the layers, and snow covered boots.

“Go start the fire, I’ll turn the heating on and boil some water for tea,” Nate said as he tore his wet sweater off over his head while he walked to the kitchen.

Quinn shimmied out of his jeans, shrugged off his cardigan, and padded to the bedroom to retrieve a pair of sweats. He got Nate’s sweats, too, and threw them at him as he passed by the kitchen.

He had the fire going in no time, turning his palms towards the heat. A few moments later, Nate called from the kitchen that tea was ready. He’d also made sandwiches for lunch, and Quinn had never been so grateful to see a sandwich in his life. The slice of cake he’d eaten at breakfast was long forgotten; his stomach already clenched with hunger pangs.

Nate hadn’t taken more than a few bites of his lunch when his phone started going crazy on the coffee table. It startled them both as they thought they wouldn't get any coverage any time soon. Flying off his chair, Nate went to retrieve the beeping phone, his eyes glued to the screen as he walked back to the kitchen. Leaning against the tall fridge, lost in thought with a slight frown on his face, Nate read in silence. The phone continued to beep as he scrolled through his messages, and Quinn was getting annoyed. Who was texting Nate so much? They couldn't all be from Brandon, could they?

“Is it Brandon?” Quinn asked, trying to push his jealousy down.

“Yeah,” Nate said, raising his eyes to glance at him. “Mostly.”

Quinn gritted his teeth, not liking the sound of ‘mostly’ one bit.

“He says all is fine and Faith was discharged earlier today. She’s at home, ordered not to leave the bed unless it’s to go to the bathroom. You can imagine how happy she is about that.” Nate glanced at Quinn again, his frown deepening. “What’s wrong?”

Quinn stood up, advancing on Nate, all hope of extinguishing his jealousy forgotten.

“Who else is texting you?” Quinn asked, stopping in front of Nate who’d straightened to his full height. He was still shorter than Quinn, and using that to his own advantage, Quinn placed his palms on the fridge behind him, caging him in.

“Nobody. Just some friends,” Nate said, the twinkling in his eyes telling Quinn that he was fully enjoying making Quinn jealous. It could have been his grandmother texting him for all Quinn knew.

Quinn leaned even closer, his lips a breath away from Nate’s as he spoke. “I hate that you fucked other men, but that’s over now. Nobody texts you but me.”

“It’s texts you’re worried about?” Nate cocked an eyebrow.

A low growl started in Quinn's chest. “You’re mine, Nate. Mine.” Quinn leaned in and sucked the tender skin under Nate’s ear, making him gasp. The skin reddened, but Quinn nipped at it, making it even more pronounced. “Is that clear?”

“Crystal.” Nate grinned when Quinn pulled back to look at him. “Now throw me over your shoulder and take me to bed. That angry alpha thing you got going on is sexy as fuck.”

Quinn did just that, smacking Nate’s ass as he hung over his shoulder, laughing.
