Chapter Three

I spent the day rummaging through my closet, looking for an outfit that would impress Derek. I tried calling Jordan again to see if she had anything I could borrow but she never answered. My brain had conveniently forgotten that earlier I was trying to figure out if Derek was telling the truth or not.

As the clock struck closer to the meeting, I began to get incredibly nervous. I walked around the house aimlessly, hoping that time would pass.

“What are you doing, Kate?” my mom asked.

“Oh nothing,” I said.

“Well Abel and your stepdad are going to be out of the house tonight so it's just you and me for dinner.”

“Actually Mom, I'm going to be eating at a friend's house tonight.”

“I see,” she said, sounding disappointed. “Jordan's house?”

“Yeah. Sorry Mom, but I already made plans.”

“It's okay, honey,” she said, kissing me on the forehead. “You have fun tonight.”

]I worked on my make up, darkening my eyes and putting on classic red lipstick. I slipped into a tiny black dress that accentuated every big curve of my body.

I sneaked out through the back door when my mother was in the bathroom. I didn't want her seeing what I was wearing. She would know in an instant that I had been lying to her.

I drove to the hotel, my hands sweating on the steering wheel. I couldn't believe I was meeting this stranger after having only one conversation with him. But it felt right. It felt like this was how it was supposed to happen.

After an hour of driving, I came across the hotel Derek gave me the directions to. For some reason, I was expecting some sleazy motel with blinking neon. Instead, it was like the Ritz Carlton. The tower reached to the clouds and the valet took my old beat up car.

I walked into the hotel and was immediately greeted by two employees with smiles. They probably thought I was an escort or something. I hopped into the elevator and waited nervously to land on my floor. An old man in the elevator glanced over at my cleavage and made me feel uncomfortable. I faced away from him until he got off.

When my floor finally arrived, I stepped out and stood still. I didn't know if I could go through with it. I looked at a framed mirror on the wall and studied my face. You can do this, I told myself.

I walked down the hallway full of matching doors and found the right number. I knocked quietly, looking around to see if anyone saw me. The door opened immediately after and my jaw dropped to the floor.

“Hi Kate. I've been waiting for you for a long time.”

“Abel! What the fuck are you doing here?” I asked, shoving past him and looking around the room for Derek.

Abel closed the door.

“Well where is Derek? You didn't send him home did you?” I stood with my hands on my hips, on the verge of crying.

“I'm Derek,” Abel said.

“What? No you're not. You nothing like him.”

Abel took a step towards me. “I'm sorry for deceiving you but it was the only way.”

I shook my head, not wanting to accept the reality.

Abel took another step. “I've wanted you for so long and becoming someone else seemed like the best way to get close to you.”

“But you're my stepbrother!” I said out of disgust.

“That doesn't matter,” he said, getting closer to me. “We're meant to be together.” He embraced me with his big arms and I struggled at first. He put his hand under my chin and tilted my head upwards.

I saw the hunger in his eyes. The deep lust he had for me. I surrendered myself to his lips and we kissed passionately. An explosion of feelings I never knew existed flowed through me. My arms wrapped around Abel as our mouths met in ecstasy. His hands felt the curves of my dress and moved to my ass. He cupped my cheeks and lifted me up until I was eye level to him.

I wanted him badly. But this was all wrong...

I put my hand on Abel's chest and pushed him away. His strong chest fought me back. “Wait, Abel. I don't think I can do this.”

Abel grasped my hand. “I need you, Kate.”

Tears formed in my eyes. “I'm sorry, I just can't.” I side-stepped Abel and ran for the door.

“Don't go,” Abel whispered.

With my back to him, I put my hand on the door knob. I closed my eyes and took in a deep breath. It took all the willpower in the world to open the door and walk away.

Jordan called me the next day after I spent the night crying myself to sleep.

“Hey Kate, sorry I didn't get back to you. I guess I drank too much at the party and passed out. I've had a wicked hangover the whole day. “Do you forgive me?”

“Of course,” I said.

“I listened to your message, who is this Derek guy?”

“Oh, he's nobody.”

Chapter Four

I tried my best to avoid Abel but it wasn't easy with him living in the room next to mine. I could hear when he brought a girl home. Sometimes I wished I was the girl in there with him. But it was forbidden. It could only ever be a fantasy.

“Josh, I don't think we should do it,” I said, lightly pushing him away.

“Come on Kate, we've been dating for a week now.” Josh leaned in to kiss me again. A flash of my encounter with Abel came to mind.

I met Josh in school and was instantly attracted to him. He was on the baseball
and
basketball team. He wasn't the smartest guy in school but that didn't matter much to me; what mattered most was that he wasn't Abel.

Our first date was absolutely perfect.  Josh took me to a movie and held my hand the whole time. He dropped me off at my house and kissed me on the lips. That was my first kiss since Abel and I melted instantly.

The next day he asked me to be his girlfriend and I couldn't help but say yes. My life was finally turning away from Abel. Things were going my way but I couldn't tell my stepbrother yet. There was no telling how he'd react. Josh and I hung out a few more times and then one day he invited me over to his house because his parents were going to be gone.

I went over there not knowing what to expect. We had only kissed up until that point. We had a pretty hot make-out session in his car the day before but nothing too crazy. Just a little tit and ass grabbing. That's why I was shocked when he wanted to go all the way.

“I think we're moving a little fast, Josh.” I hated the way I sounded. It was like my mom was here. We were in his bedroom making out when Josh started to take off my pants.

“Trust me, you're going to love it.” Josh acted like he had done it a million times. It wasn't exactly the turn on he was hoping for.

“But I'm a virgin,” I said reluctantly. I'd never told anyone that before except my closest friends. My stepbrother didn't even know.

“Well even more of a reason to do it tonight. You just need to get it over with,” he said plainly.

Josh was half right. My virginity was something that I wasn't exactly proud of. On the other hand, I always imagined I would lose it to a guy I loved. I'd only known Josh a short while. I definitely didn't love him.

Josh forced me into another kiss. His lips were so addictive. It was hard to say no. I felt my jeans unbutton and his hand slipped down. I felt a jolt electricity flow through me. I'd never been touched down there by anyone else but me. His fingers fumbled around until he found my wetness. He played around with me but to be honest it didn't feel as good as when I did it myself.

Even so, his plan worked. I was so revved up that I needed him. I pulled my t-shirt over my head and Josh got a peek at my tits. His eyes went wide and his hands hesitantly fondled them. I felt his fingers sneak around my back and to my bra strap. It was like he was trying to pick a lock because it was taking him forever to figure it out. I gave up and ended up taking my bra off myself.

Josh bent down and buried his face in my cleavage. His hands squeezed my breasts together and he put his mouth over my erect nipples. His sucked on them hard like a baby. I winced from the pain but powered through it. I reached for Josh's pants and found the outline of his boner. He wasn't as big as I hoped but it would have to do.

Josh moaned at my touch and he quickly took off  the rest of his clothes. I took mine off too until I was completely nude. I turned off the light because I was still a little embarrassed by my body. We tripped over each other in the darkness and landed on the bed. Josh got on top and kissed me once.

Abel's face flashed before my eyes. Josh was not the right guy.

“Josh we need to stop.”

He ignored me and continued to kiss my neck.

“I'm serious, I can't do this.”

Josh groaned and got off me. “Whatever Kate. I'm not going to wait any longer for you.

“Fuck you,” I said, jumping out of bed and gathering my clothes. I quickly got dressed and ran outside to my car without saying another word to Josh.

I drove home and pulled into the driveway at one in the morning. I looked at my house and everything seemed so quiet. There wasn't a light on in the house which told me that everyone was asleep. Maybe I could sneak in without them knowing?

The front door would make too much noise but the back door was far from my parents bed. I sneaked my way around the house like a thief in the night. For a second, I was worried that a neighbor would see me and think I was a robber. I got to the back door and grabbed my keys out of my purse. I searched for the right one, looking past tons of cute key chains. Finally I found the dull bronze one for the house. I put it to the lock and dropped my keys before I could slip it in. I squeezed my eyes shut as the keys crashed to the ground and made a loud noise. I waited a minute in the silence for any movement inside and then picked them up and unlocked the door.

I opened it slowly, peeking my head in. All the lights were off and nobody in sight. I closed the door behind me and crept through the kitchen. The wooden floorboards creaked as I tiptoed on them. I made it to the staircase and  was only a few steps away from safety when a light turned on in the family room.

“Nice night, eh?” I looked over to see my stepbrother sitting comfortably in a chair. He was sitting there the entire time. It was all over. I was caught red-handed.

“What do you want, Abel?” I tried to sound as venomous as possible.

“Where were you?” he asked calmly.

Abel had no clue about my boyfriend yet. I shuffled my feet, trying to think of the right answer. “I don't have to tell you anything.”

“You do, if you want me to not tell Mom and Dad about you breaking curfew.” Abel grinned.

I narrowed my eyes at him. “Fine. I was with my boyfriend.”

“Boyfriend!?” My stepbrother was completely shocked. “How long have you been dating him?”

“His name is Josh and we've been together a week now,” I confessed. I actually didn't know if we were even together anymore.

“Goodnight Kate,” he said, a hint of depression lingered in the air. Abel stood up and walked away.

I was surprised the conversation was over. I imagined Abel getting furious when he found out but he seemed saddened by the news.

The next day, I slept in way longer than I should have. It was already the afternoon and half of my day was wasted. I went downstairs to find my stepbrother watching TV on the couch. “Where's Mom?” I asked.

Abel glanced away from the TV just for a second to talk to me. “Oh, she went out with some of her girlfriends and Dad went fishing. We're going to be on our own for dinner.”

I broke the news to him. “Actually, I was going to go to Abel's tonight.”

Abel flipped off the television and threw the remote on the couch. “Sorry Kate, but you're not going out.”

“What are you talking about?” I screamed.

“I don't want you seeing him anymore.”

I felt raging anger. My face was red and steam billowed from my ears. “You can't tell me what to do!”

“I'll tell Mom and Dad that you've been lying about having a boyfriend.”

“I know you have a raging hard on for me! You just want me for yourself.”

Abel went from cool as ice to furious. “I don't do ugly girls.”

Ugly?
Abel's true colors were finally showing.
