Joanna climbed out of the tent where she had changed into her swimsuit. They had camped in the spot that had been designated as the parlor during the family reunion. Amber had giggled when she signed them in and Gabe had given her a swat on her backside. Joanna smiled remembering the scene, again feeling blessed that she was now part of this wonderfully loving family.
Gabe smiled and took her hand and said, “Not sure why you changed, honey. I don’t expect you’ll be wearing that suit for long.” Joanna laughed and followed him down to their beach. She stepped onto the sand and knew this place would always be sacred to her. Gabe soon had her stripped naked, her new swimsuit tossed casually to the side. Joanna slid into the river and couldn’t help but smile. She found she was grateful that the willow tree remained firmly rooted in the middle of the campsite. The water was cool and delicious providing the perfect comfort on her bottom after her spanking from the evening before. It had not been one for punishment. It had been for pure pleasure and she had relished every stroke of the switch she had cut herself and Gabe had applied to her squirming bottom with exquisite expertise.
Gabe joined her in the water and the couple swam and played like river otters. Gabe climbed out first and had a towel open and ready when Joanna stood. His heart skipped a beat as he gazed at his wife. Her wet skin glistened under the full moon. She was smiling as she walked towards him and he was reminded of the first time he had seen her nude, standing on their boulder in the middle of this same river. He had loved her then and loved her even more now.
He wrapped her in the towel and simply held her for moment, thanking God she had become his wife. He cupped her cheek with the palm of his hand and gently kissed her. She shuddered at his touch every time and this was no different. Gabe began to dry her. As he ran the towel over her breasts, his hands paused for a moment. She smiled but said nothing. He knelt and moved the towel down to dry her stomach. As he ran his hands over her tummy, his hands froze. He looked up to her face. She saw the question in his eyes and nodded. His eyes filled with tears and it was her turn to cup his face between her palms.
“Happy Anniversary. You are going to be a great Daddy, Gabriel.”
The entire campground could hear his whoop of joy and would have smiled to see him whirling his wife around before carefully setting her down on her feet. Discovering that she would give him the greatest gift of all, a baby made from their deep love of each other, filled his heart to overflowing. He held her close and then drew her down to lie beside him on the blanket he had spread onto the sand.
Joanna laid her head on his chest, her hands stroking him softly even as his hand stroked down her arm. A short while later, Gabe chuckled when he realized his wife had fallen asleep. He woke her gently and then pointed to the heavens. Joanna shifted to lie beside him, her eyes roaming each constellation as if they were dear old friends. Millions of glittering stars filled the sky, each twinkling with their light. The couple let the beauty of the night wash over them, both contemplating not only the journey that had brought them here, but the journey to come. This was true contentment, total peace. As Gabe drew her into his arms and kissed her, they both knew how much they had been blessed. They understood their love was as eternal as the stars shining down on them.

Lord Edward’s Law, Women of Wintercrest Book 2
Fantastic sequel. Maggie Ryan just keeps getting better and better. I have fallen in love with the characters in this series. In Book 2, more is revealed of Louisa's lifestyle and her growing submission to her husband, Lord Edward. Lucy discovers the truth of how Wintercrest Manor is run and the rules that her guardian demands be followed unless the girls are willing to pay the consequences of their misbehavior. Charles, Lucy's professor is discovering that he is no longer considering Lucille as a student; he is now picturing her as his future wife. Edward thinks the man is too weak to be able to offer Lucy the life she isn't aware that she needs. Will her allow Charles to court Lucy or will a new character be introduced in Book 3. one of Edward's choosing? Whichever way Ms. Ryan goes, it is sure to be a great read. She is an excellent author and I have truly enjoyed every one of her books. Hurry up with next book please! – Catherine
