“Wife?”
I ask raising my eyebrow, making him cringe.

“Sorry
darlin’, it just popped out.”

I
stalk over to him. “Well I do believe you owe this prissy bitch
a wedding night.” I smirk, pushing him backwards onto the desk.

His
hands immediately find my hips and his fingers bite my skin through
the fabric. I straddle him as I lean down kissing him hard. My dress
gets pulled up impatiently as his fingers trail up my leg.

“Take out your hair,
darlin’,” he groans into my mouth. Sitting up I pull out
the hair clip and shake my hair. “Jesus fuck,” he says
pulling me back down to his lips.

Reaching
down, I open his jeans. I don’t want to wait; I don’t
want to slow down. “I need you now,” I tell him as he
kisses my neck, his fingers pulling my hair at the roots. He pulls my
panties aside as I impale myself on him, rocking so hard his head
falls back and he squeezes my hips tightly.

“Holy
fuck, I like this prissy bitch,” he pants as I rock harder,
trying to fill every inch of me with him. In an awkward, but somewhat
swift movement I am on the desk with my ‘husband’ between
my legs thrusting over and over.

“Harder,”
I moan and his foot slips on the tile floor.

“Fuck
darlin’.”

I
match his movements as our rhythm settles and we both come apart
together.

Lying
on my chest he pants. “We should get married more often,”
he says, cocking an eyebrow and I laugh.

“Yeah
babe, we should.”

He
sucks a breath between his teeth as he slowly pulls out of me. “I
want to stay in there darlin’.” I wipe the sweat from his
upper lip and pull him down for a kiss. “I can’t move
just yet,” he mumbles into my mouth as I slide my tongue over
his. I don’t want him to move I want to stay here forever with
him between my legs kissing me like it’s our last night
together.

Chapter 10

Saturday
morning arrives. Waking up I find myself tangled between Knox and the
bed sheet. I lift my head looking at him and find him smiling.

“Why
are you smiling?” I push his face gently with my hand but he
just grabs me, kissing my palm to my wrist then my lips.

“Mornin’,
beautiful,” Smiling, I roll away just enough for him to pull me
back. “No way darlin’, you’re not getting away that
easily.” He kisses my face all over then hops out of bed naked
all hard lines and solid muscle.

We
dress for our day at the mall in comfortable clothes. Knox decides to
drive the truck just in case I go crazy and buy the whole store (his
words). We arrive just after ten o’clock and get cracking. I
pull him buy the hand into the department store and go to the home
furnishing department on the third floor.

“Hey babe, grab a cart.”
I point to them when I step off the escalator.

“Yes
Ma’am.” He follows behind me trying to catch my ankles on
purpose, making me jump to the side.

“Stop,”
I laugh, holding my hand out as he backs me into the wall.

“Hop
in and I’ll take you for a spin.” He winks at me while
nodding at the cart.

“No
way.”

Skirting
around him, I flee into the crockery section as he walks behind me
doing the Jaws theme tune. “Stop, you freak show.” I push
him but not hard. He smiles at me putting his arm around me.

“So
see something you like?” he asks and I laugh hard while he
holds up a teapot with flowers on it like he is on a game show.

“No
next aisle.” I wipe away tears and he stops.

“If
you want the teapot that bad..” he teases me. Catching my
breath I turn again looking at some interesting pieces. I find a nice
dark smoky grey set of dishes in a box set.

“What
do you think?” I ask over my shoulder as Knox examines another
floral teapot.

Putting
it down, he strolls over. “Yeah nice, darlin’. Whatever
you pick is good with me.”

“No,
Knox.” Grabbing his t-shirt I shake him. “We have to pick
together; make it OURS.”

He
nods, grabbing two box sets of the grey ones. “Next.” He
pushes the cart forward and we pick out some cutlery; nothing fancy
just plain silver. I find the coffee makers and grab one like my
dad’s, holding it in the air like I won it.

I
wave him over. “Look what I found.” Smiling, he puts it
into the cart.

“Now
what’s left?” he asks, looking around and I laugh at him.

“Wow
babe, you lasted a whole twenty minutes,” I say, checking my
watch.

We
walk into the bedding area and wander around. Knox trails behind me
as I turn away from every display bed in the store.

“Come
on Bailey pick one,” he says but I don’t like any of
them.

I
walk around to the back wall still looking when a display bed over in
the corner catches my eye. Walking over I see a white comforter with
black butterflies that swirl from the bottom left to the top right
almost like a tornado.

“Knox
over here,” I call, brushing my hand over the pillows. “What
do you think?” I ask excited.

He
grimaces. “Not sure.” My face falls because I really like
it; maybe I will buy it for my own bed. Knox pulls back the cover and
dumps me inside the bed laughing. I try to get out but he holds me
down “Wait I want to try before I buy.” He runs to the
end of the bed and smiles. “I like it.” He nods, helping
me out and I remake the bed so the sales people won’t notice.

Knox
grabs the bag from the shelf and I get the black sheets to match,
dumping them in the cart. We smile at each other feeling giddy and
take our new stuff to the check out. We pile it high on the counter
and wait for the lady to ring us up. Knox wraps his arms around my
waist and kisses the tip of my nose.

“Hungry
darlin’?”

I
nod, kissing him back.

“Okay, your total is six
hundred dollars,” the lady tells us.

Knox
stops and stares at her, then pulls out his credit card. “I’ll
get half, babe,” I say pulling out my purse.

He
stops my hand. “No darlin’, I’m not letting my wife
pay.” He smirks at me.

“I’m
not your wife.” Rolling my eyes, I put away my purse.

“Not
yet,” he whispers to me then signs the credit card slip. We
walk back to the truck arms loaded with our purchases.

“Babe,
I don’t mind paying for half the stuff,” I say again
earning a stern look from him.

“I
said no, Bailey.”

We
put everything into the truck and walk back to get some food. I put
my hand into his back pocket as he wraps his arm around my shoulders.
Using my free hand I link our fingers.

“What do you want to eat?”

Kissing
my head he growls. “You.”

Oh
my god! This guy really thinks about sex a lot. The, three second
rule is seriously underestimated. Entering the food court we locate a
secluded booth.

“What you havin’
darlin?”

Looking
at my choices, I decide on coffee and a muffin. He nods and takes
off. I watch him walk away, admiring his swagger and the bulge of his
bicep as he pulls his wallet out of his back pocket. I am not the
only one who notices a few girls who look to be junior high age stare
at him and snap a few pictures on their phones, making me laugh.

They
watch him get my coffee and muffin then bring it back to me,

“Here
you go, beautiful.” He kisses me then takes off again and the
girls all have a dreamy expression on their faces. I stir my coffee
while they walk away.

“You
are sooo lucky,” I hear and see the four of them standing at my
table. “He is soooo hot. Is he your boyfriend?”

I
nod smiling and they fan themselves as I laugh. “Yeah he’s
pretty hot, huh?” I say and they all nod. I can see him walking
back to me curious as to why I have a group of fifteen year olds at
the table. “Hi babe,” I say as he stops behind them.

“Darlin?”
He raises an eyebrow.

One
of the girls squeals, “Oh My God! Darlin’, That is sooo
cool.”

Knox
laughs. “Ladies.” He nods sitting down. They all sigh
then wave as they walk away.

“Fan
club, babe. I should have told them you are in a band.”

Laughing,
he shakes his head. “No way. My ears couldn’t take all
that screeching.”

I
spy his Panda Express and steal some chicken. As we eat, I feel a
little lighter. Maybe all I needed was to get away from town and be
with Knox alone for a while. I am sure I will be better soon,
although I don’t really know why I have been feeling dark and
down again.

“So
what did my dad have to say last night?” he asks and I cringe
telling him about the dinner invite and my crazy Lindsey thoughts.

“I
think I hurt his feelings, Knox.”

He
laughs at me. “Na, he’ll be fine. I’ll talk to
him.”

Slouching
back in my seat, I watch the people walk by the window going about
their day.

“My
dad said he will be home next Friday,” I tell him.

“That’s
good darlin’. So you coming to live at our place until then?”

I
feel my muscles stiffen as I peel the label off of my coffee cup. “I
don’t know, babe. Don’t push me; I want to talk to him
first.”

He
flexes his hand and shrugs. “Okay.” He grabs the trash
and dumps it. Holding out his hand, I take it and we leave the food
court and the conversation behind. We look in a few more stores then
leave, both of us have had enough of the mall for one day. Driving
home I rest my feet up on the dash and roll the window down so I can
feel the wind on my face. I haven’t run in a few days I will
have to go tonight.

We
drag our bags up to the apartment, dumping them in the middle of the
bedroom floor.

“Okay,
I’ll make the bed,” I say, grabbing the comforter set.

Knox
walks into the closet and moves things around then comes back out. I
look at him but he picks up the coffee maker smiling. After I have
the bed made and looking nice, I walk into the closet to leave the
extra sheets on the shelf and laugh as I see the whole left side
cleared out with a few hangers swinging from the pole. There is only
a large poster pinned to the wall with ‘Bailey’s crap
only’ written on it. I walk into the kitchen and hug Knox from
behind.

“Hey
darlin’, you okay?”

I
nod against his shoulder and hold him tighter. “I just saw your
art work.”

He
chuckles. “Nice, huh?” I nod again, not moving from his
back until he lifts his arm and I slide to his side, looking down he
kisses my lips. “Okay?”

Nodding,
I smile up at him. “I need to go home tonight, babe, and get
some clothes and stuff.”

Turning,
he lifts me up onto the counter. “Okay, we will go in a few
minutes because I want you to be here when I get home from work.”
He is not giving up at all.

“Okay,
fine I’ll stay for a few days.”

He
shines his mega watt smile at me. “I knew you’d crumble
like a cookie.” He sucks my bottom lip into his mouth and bites
gently.

“You can stay here. I will
go for a run and come back in about two hours.”

He
whines against my mouth and I push him back laughing as I slide off
the counter top. He follows me to my car, making sure I get there
okay in the middle of the day in a secure parking lot.

“Over
protective much?” He nods closing the car door.

Driving
up the hill I laugh, remembering the girls in the food court today
but I have to agree he is
sooo
hot
.
Rolling my eyes at myself, I pull into the garage then walk into the
house. It is a beautiful house and so warm and inviting. Maybe that’s
why I am afraid to go live with Knox? I don’t want to leave my
security or my dad; I only just got him back. Changing into my
running shorts and tank, I pull on my pink baseball cap, and take the
back stairs down to the kitchen and exit the French doors.

I
do a few warm up stretches and take off with music blasting in my
ears. My mind temporarily blanks as I find my stress relief in
running the trail. That is until I run by Sean’s house and see
him and some guys in the yard. Keeping my head down, I keep going
feeling the beat surge me forward. Each time I pass Sean’s the
guys are closer than before. I can see them shouting but my music
drowns out whatever they are saying. I look to my left at the lake
standing still; there is little to no breeze here today. The houses
sit higher than the water and block some of the breeze when it does
blow. My last lap I can feel my legs burn from lack of use. As I
approach Sean’s back yard I can see from where I am that it’s
empty; maybe they got bored and went inside, thankfully. As I run by
I trip over a tree branch and tumble.

My
knee stings as I roll down the slight hill toward the lake, stopping
myself before I take a swim. Sitting up, I look at my knee with its
torn scratched skin and both my hands are stinging as well. Standing
up, I limp back to my house biting my lip against the tears. I
mentally scold myself for crying from falling but deep down I know
it’s not from that at all. Reaching the house I hop up the
steps and open the French door and when I remove my headphones I can
hear my phone ringing.

Shit,
I forgot to call Knox when I got home. Pulling myself up the stairs
like my knee was broken, I amble into my room picking up the phone as
it stops. It beeps with a voicemail so I listen.

“Darlin’,
you never called me. It’s been over an hour. If I don’t
hear from you in ten minutes, I’m coming up there.”

Sighing,
I wipe my face and call him back. “Hey Knox, sorry I just got
in from my run. I forgot to call you,” I say the minute he
answers.

“Okay,
darlin’. I was worried about you. I am going grocery shopping
now. Do you need anything?”

I
laugh, debating whether to make him buy me girly products but decide
I will not be that mean. “No thanks. I’ll be back in
thirty minutes, okay?”
