Chapter Seven

Annabelle swept her tongue across the holes in his chest and peeked up at his handsome face. His dark green eyes flared as he rubbed her back. Her whole body felt like jell. Lance's and Marcus's emotions poured into her, and her anger towards her family only tired her out more. She rested her head on his chest. “Why didn't they tell me? Couldn't my own family trust me? If a Trendon is like a police officer controlling the different species, they would have to be able to see each form a person is, right?” Her dark brown eyes sought his. He nodded. “So…” She sat up and shook. “They would have known Dave was a demon, wouldn't they?”

She gasped and tried to stand, but Marcus and Lance grabbed on to her.”Easy, baby, you're not ready to stand yet. You'll fall flat on your face,” Lance mumbled into her ear and started to soap her body and hair. Tears slipped down her face. “How could they do that to me, Lance? They had to know I was clueless about him. I mean, they would have seen his natural form. God, they let me
fuck
that thing.” She curled up onto Lance's lap, hugging her stomach as Marcus stood and got out of the tub. “Shh, baby, it will be okay. We'll figure this out.” Lance rocked her for a few minutes as he rinsed her body with the hand-held spray. He turned the water off and hugged her tightly as he got out of the tub, carrying her back to bed. Once again, clean sheets had been placed on the bed, the room had been straightened, and herbs burned all around, taking the aroma of sickness out of the air. Marcus dried her body with a large heated towel while Lance held her in his arms. No one had ever taken such good care of her, even though it was so embarrassing to think they had cleaned up after her. They hurt for her, her anger turned into their anger, but their love surrounded her and supported her when no one else had. “I just want to sleep in your arms, both of you,” she whispered as they laid her down on the bed and curled up around her. “Then sleep, Annabelle. We'll be right here all night for you.” Marcus kissed her neck, as Lance kissed her lips softly. “Thank you for being with me.” She yawned and closed her eyes.

Marcus stared at their beauty in their arms. She had slept through the night without any trouble. He knew she would wake hungry and very sensitive to all the emotions around her. He smiled as he nodded to Lance. It was time to wake their mate, before the others stirred. No one had found Dave. Somehow he had slipped out of the house and the grounds. All the guards were put on high alert and her brothers were due there within the hour. He trailed kisses down her back while Lance sucked her breast into his mouth. They rolled her onto her back and he slowly separated her legs. Marcus needed to taste her honey again and stretch her to take them both this morning. Her little moan made him smile as he separated her pussy lips and licked around her clit. It seemed like ages since he had tasted her. He dipped down and pushed his tongue into her pussy, then his fingers. She jumped, but he held her while he fucked her with his tongue and fingers. “Oh, more…” she moaned, as she grabbed onto the bed sheets. He slipped his wet fingers down to her ass and pushed them into her slowly. Her body tensed, but he continued to push further into her. Annabelle heard the shouts down below. Her body tensed under him, and he knew her brothers had arrived. “Let me up, Lance, Marcus. They're here. Can't you hear them yelling?” She pushed Lance away from her as he lifted up and frowned at her. “They can wait,” Marcus snapped, but got up anyway. “No, they're coming up the stairs now, but maybe later we can continue this.” She smiled at him as he got up. He walked into the closet and pulled on a pair of jeans. “You bet your sweet ass we'll continue this, as soon as I kill your brothers, then my father for letting them up here,” Lance said, pulling his pants on. “Sorry, I get first dibs on my brothers,” she snapped, throwing on a pair of black jeans and a sweater. Marcus wrapped his arms around her and kissed her as the door flew open. Her three large brothers stormed into the room. Annabelle broke the kiss and patted his hand, then turned her full anger on her brothers. “What the hell do you want? Why even bother coming here, pretending to care?”

She stepped into Dwayne's face and pushed him back. “You were supposed to protect me and you let me marry that thing without telling me anything! I wish Allen was here at least I know he wouldn't have let me marry that thing!” She screamed and slapped his face. “I'll never forgive any of you!” she cried as Sandy, Nicholas and Eden ran into the room. Lance pulled her back into his arms and held her. “Hush baby, it's not good for the babies,” he cooed.

Marcus stepped in front of them and glared at all three of them. “Why did you come? It seems to me it's a little late to care what happens to her now.” He clenched his fists. The one she had slapped stepped up to him and glared at him. “If you would have just waited until today we could have told her ourselves, but of course we should have known you wouldn't wait. Bloodsuckers can never control their urges,” he sneered and stepped into his personal space. He heard the growl before Annabelle attacked her brother, jumped on him, and sent him to the floor. “You son of a bitch! How dare you talk to my mate like that? Were you here when I was attacked by the same thing you let me marry and fuck me! No!” She slugged him as he tried to grab her wrists. “Do you know how ugly and disgusting that thing was? My God, Dwayne, why? I'm going to have nightmares for the next ten years!” “Annabelle, enough!” he yelled and threw her off him into Marcus's arms. “How were we supposed to know these idiots couldn't protect you?” he yelled, jumping to his feet. Marcus growled but held tight on his mate. She trembled as she tried to attack him again. “Calm down, Annabelle. He's not worth losing the babies.” He glared at Dwayne. “And if you ever touch her like you just did, I won't hesitate to…” His father patted his arm and stepped in between them. “I think we all need to calm down. I'm Nicholas, their father. I'm the one who talked to your father yesterday. Why don't we all go downstairs and have some breakfast? Marcus will bring Annabelle down in a minute.” He guided the three brothers out of the room with Eden following. Sandy shook her head and followed them out the door. “I'll meet you downstairs, Annabelle.” “I'm so sorry, Marcus, Lance. I don't even know my family, and don't know if I want to anymore.” She trembled in his arms. He scooped her up into his arms and sat down on the bed. Lance sat down next to them. “This isn't your fault, Annabelle. We'll deal with them together.” Marcus kissed the tears from her cheeks. “Come here, Annabelle. You need to feed before we go down there.”

Annabelle smiled and slid into Lance's arms. “Am I only going to feed from you? Or do you have some nice young men lined up for me to taste? I could also go suck the life out of my brothers downstairs.” She smiled as she licked his neck and sank her fangs into his neck. His arm tightened around her and he smacked her leg. “There will be no other men, Annabelle. You will only feed from us. If we even think you've drank from someone else, I'll spank that cute round ass of yours,” Lance mumbled. Marcus threw on a shirt and his boots. The thought of facing Annabelle's brothers only increased his anger. Why they would allow her to marry that man was beyond his scope of understanding. He searched the dresser and found a pair of soft cotton socks for his mate, grabbing her tennis shoes from the closet. He sat back down on the bed and picked up her delicate foot, kissing the bottom of it. He slipped on her socks and tennis shoes for her and sighed.
Marcus, you and Lance had better get down here. Your father is ready to kill these men,
his mother shouted in his head. “I swear, I'll never speak to them again,” Annabelle jumped off Lance's lap. “Let's go. I want them gone.” She yanked open the door and would have run down the stairs, but he grabbed onto her, holding her back. “Relax, Annabelle. We can't have you go in there attacking. Let them say their peace, then we'll throw them out.” He smiled and nipped her neck.

Chapter Eight

Annabelle stepped into the dining room, walking straight towards the buffet table. She ignored her brothers as she poured herself a cup of orange juice. The air was thick with tension as everyone waited for her to say something. She turned and stepped into Marcus's arms as she stared at her brothers. With Marcus and Lance behind her, she glared at them. “Dwayne, I want you, Troy, and Brent to go home.” She held up her hand to quiet them down. “All of you made your choice to keep quiet, doing your duty as you saw fit. Well, fine. But I don't want anything to do with you or that duty. That is where I guess I'm different from all of you. My family will always come first.” She rubbed her belly and smiled. “I'm pregnant with at least three babies and these little guys will always have their mother and fathers near them, supporting them. Where you see duty as more important than family, I see family first. I don't know if I can ever forgive any of you for what you've done.” She gulped and looked at Dwayne, tears clouding her vision.

“You were supposed to protect me. I always believed my big brothers would protect me. You did in high school. When did that change? The three of you and Dad didn't do crap to stop me. Sure, you told me human things, but not once did you tell me he was…” She shook. “It's just gross. You let me marry a creature you knew I would have never married if I had known what he was.” “Damn it, Annabelle. I tried to warn you away from him, but you wouldn't listen.” Dwayne stood and stepped up to her. “We love you. We'd give our life to protect you.” He cupped her cheek. “But you didn't, Dwayne. That thing could have killed me at any time. I was lucky to get away from him last night, and I did thanks to my mates, not you.” She sighed. “Tell me, did Mom know about all this?” Annabelle looked up at him and whimpered as he looked down at the floor and dropped his hand. “She wasn't allowed to say anything. None of us were allowed.” The door crashed open and Trish came running in with her mate. “The demons are attacking. They've killed two families outside the city and they're heading this way.” She glared at her. “They're saying you stole one of their wives and they won't rest till she is returned.” Annabelle's knees buckled and she would have fallen if Marcus hadn't held her. “It's my fault. Those people are dead because of me,” she whispered. Dwayne turned and watched Trish circling his sister. “How did you come across this information? And are you sure it was demons?” “Damn it, Dwayne. Don't start on my sister-in-law.” Annabelle tried to kick him as he jumped away from her. “No, Annabelle, it's not your fault. The demons are just using this as a means to try and take over the city.” Nicholas stepped up and kissed her forehead. “Trish, not another word. Take your mate upstairs to the guest room and stay there till we sort this out.” Annabelle pushed away from Marcus, walking out of the dining area. She couldn't let anyone else die for her. There was no choice. She rubbed her belly. “I'm sorry, little ones, but I have no choice.”

She ran up the stairs to her room and searched for her cell phone. If she could call Dave and talk, maybe things would settle down. He used to listen to her. “What do you think you're doing?” Lance asked as she looked under the bed. “I'm looking for my phone. If I can call Dave, maybe… Lance, what are you doing?” She squealed as he picked her up and set her across his knees, her ass once again at his mercy. She squirmed as the thought of his hand on her ass had her pussy dampen. “You were told never to put yourself in danger, but here you are doing it again.” Lance slapped her ass. “Plus, did you consider the babies you're carrying?” Four more smacks to the ass. Tears slid down her face. “I have no choice, Lance, can't you see that? I can't let anyone else die because of me.” She hiccupped as he picked her up and shook her. “I was only going to call him.” “Damn it, Annabelle, they're just using this as an excuse to attack. Baby, you didn't cause this.” He pulled her into a tight hug. “Yes, she did. Let her leave. Good riddance to trash.” Trish's venomous voice sounded behind them. Lance stood and placed her behind him. “I've about had enough of your mouth. She's our mate and if you can't accept that, then get the hell out of this house. I don't know what's wrong with you, but I'm done. I wash my hands of you.” He stepped forward. Something silver flashed behind Trish's back. Annabelle peeked around Lance and saw the knife she held. “Get out of the way, Lance!” she yelled and threw all her weight onto him. They fell to the floor as Trish jumped on her and grabbed her hair, but Annabelle rolled, knocking her back. She might have lost a hunk of hair, but this crazy lady wasn't going to hurt her family. “Come on, bitch. Let's see what you have,” she taunted as she jumped up and faced her. Spit flew out of Trish's mouth, but Annabelle watched her movements. Trish glanced behind her and smiled. She knew someone else had entered the room. She ducked and rolled onto the floor as Dave missed grabbing her and fell. Lance tackled him as Marcus and her brothers raced into her bedroom. Marcus grabbed his sister, but she shifted into demon form and disappeared. Her eerie laughter filled the room. “This isn't over, big brother. That bitch will die.” “No! How could she be a demon?” Eden cried from the door. It all started to make sense. No wonder Dave had access to the house. Their sister had let him in. Lance picked Dave up and shoved him at Dwayne. “You're the peacekeeper. He's yours.” Then he turned his attention toward her. Annabelle backed up as they caged her between them.

Marcus grabbed her arms and pulled them behind her, holding them tight. “You have once again put yourself in danger.”

Lance unsnapped her pants and pushed them down her legs.

“Lance, don't. There are people here.” She squirmed and looked around the room, but no one was there. “Be quiet, Annabelle. You'll learn not to place yourself in jeopardy.” Marcus released her hands as he pulled her sweater off her and grabbed her hands once again. Lance walked over to one of the dressers and opened it, pulling out some rope and a paddle. He walked over and handed Marcus the rope, glaring at her.

“You can't do this! I was only trying to save you,” she pleaded but knew they wouldn't listen. Marcus lifted her arms above her head and tied her wrists together, hooking the rope to a hook where a plant once swung from. He stepped in front of her as Lance moved behind her. She tried to turn around to see what he was doing, but Marcus grabbed her chin and held her in place. “For putting yourself and our children once more in danger, you've earned six swats on each ass cheek. We're going lightly on you since you just turned, but we'll not warn you again. Next time the punishment will be double this. We have chosen the paddle because we know it won't hurt the babies.” He stepped back and nodded. She tried to step forward, but she had no leeway in the rope to move. “What do you expect me to do? Sit there and watch her stab him?” she yelled as the paddle came down on her ass. “Damn it, Lance, I couldn't lose you,” she screamed as three more smacks landed on her ass. Her butt burned, but she was determined to make her point even though her body heated with lust.
What the hell is wrong with me?
“You both know how I feel about…my family not protecting me. Do you expect me to be like them and ignore what I see?” She flinched and moaned as four more whacks stung her. They didn't say a word as Lance finished her punishment and untied her. Marcus strolled into the closet and pulled out a soft pair of jogging pants and sweatshirt, handing them to her. Both of them waited as she pulled the clothes on. Even though the material was soft, it stung her butt, but she wouldn't give them the satisfaction of her tears. Lance grabbed her arm and led her downstairs where everyone waited for them in the living room. A roaring fire heated the room as Lance sat down on the sofa and pulled her into his lap. She jumped up, but he pulled her down. Grinding her teeth, she sat. She was pissed and needed to be fucked.

Marcus glanced down at Annabelle. She sat straight and rigid against Lance, looking straight ahead. He knew the spanking and the paddling had excited her, but she was confused about it. Soon they would teach her about pain and pleasure. When he had seen what she did, he knew he couldn't be the one to punish her. He was too furious and would have hurt her. Hell, he was still furious. At least his brother could control his anger to give her some pleasure out of the spanking even though she didn't recognize it yet. He turned to his mother, who sat there with tears in her eyes as his father held her.

They all waited for Annabelle's father and Sandy's father to show up. It seemed their parents weren't on a cruise after all, but in meetings with the so-called council. Everyone was nervous as they waited to see if a vendetta had been ordered against the demons that had attacked. The sound of footsteps in the hall indicated they had arrived.

His mother started to cry again as she buried her head in his father's chest. Annabelle glanced behind her and glared at own her father. The room was full of emotions, all because of the demons. Sandy stood up and ran to her father. “What are you doing here? I thought you two were on a cruise.” She looked back and forth at them, but he said nothing to her and turned Annabelle's father. “The Vendetta has been ordered. I'm sorry, Nicholas. If we could have spared your daughter, we would have, but it seems she took part in killing one of the family members.” Sandy's father, the director of the Trendons, announced. Heart rendering sobs broke from his mother as Sandy backed up. “You're part of this crap. You did this to Annabelle? Would you have done it to me too?” Sandy screamed and turned to flee the room when her father grabbed her and shook her. “Do you think this is easy having to hide everything from you? We have our orders. We are here to protect the human population and that is our primary purpose. If we're lucky, we have a family to help survive the loneliness. We live for centuries in hiding only to come out when there is trouble,” he said. “How do you think Eden feels, knowing her daughter is now sentenced to death? Quit thinking of yourself. We had no choice.” He released her and turned to Nicholas. “I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that. We tried to convince them to spare your daughter, but now that she's tasted human blood, she won't stop.” Annabelle swayed, then jumped from Lance's arms and ran out of the room. He followed her only to see her run into the bathroom and slam the door. He leaned against the wall and closed his eyes. The sound of her once again throwing up tore him up. “She always did blame herself when something went wrong. When she was about eight, her dog dug a hole in the backyard and escaped. He was run over by a truck right in front of our house. She cried for two days straight, wouldn't eat anything or talk to anyone,” Annabelle's father, Adam, said. “You couldn't even go near my wife. She was so worried about Annabelle that she took anyone's head off if they even spoke to her.” Marcus moved up next to them and nodded to her father. “Our family is falling apart and there is not a damn thing I can do about it. Her mother, Lily, found out by accident about Dave. She hasn't forgiven me or the boys for not letting her tell Annabelle. It seems this Christmas will be a sad one for many households.” “Well, that wouldn't be the case if the stupid council would take in consideration families, but no, you won't even ask them.” Annabelle's mother knocked on the bathroom door, her red hair pulled up on top of her hair. “Annabelle, can I can come in, please?” Marcus saw Annabelle mostly favored her mother. She was smaller and built like her, but Annabelle had her father's hair. “Lily, don't start. You know we have our duties.”

“Well, I hope you can screw your duties, because you're not touching me any time soon.” She pushed open the bathroom door and slammed it behind her. “As you can see, our daughter gets her temper from her mother. I'm afraid you two have your hands full, but I couldn't be happier that she has you both.” Adam stopped talking as mother and daughter came out of the bathroom together. Ananbelle's eyes were swollen and red from crying as she glanced up at him. Mother and daughter held hands as they stopped in front of them. Marcus wanted to pull her into his arms and comfort her, but right now she needed her mother more. “We are going to use the dining room and we don't want to be interrupted.” Lily glared at her husband and the rest of them. “Please have Sandy and Beth meet us there.” Marcus stared at their retreating backs and knew something was up, but he couldn't see anything. He looked at Lance, who shook his head. “I too feel something is going on,” Lance said. “We'll have to listen carefully. Knowing those two, they are cooking up something.”
