In 2002 he was the Chairman of the
Het Ondergedoken Kind
(The Hidden Child Association), which was active in trying to get the law repealed. Max himself was subject to this law and his father had a long fight to get him back. Those parents who were unsuccessful lost their parental rights and, in effect, their children were legally adopted without their agreement.
