Relief rushed through him. He clutched her to his heart and smiled into her eyes. "Then be happy, sweetheart. Because I belong to you and you belong to me."

Four years later, Becky sat in Jake's lap on a chair in the kitchen. Night was falling, and the moon was already shining through the blue gingham curtains at the window. A bouquet of wildflowers sat on the kitchen table, their aroma scenting the room.

Their baby son was fast asleep in his crib, being the angel that he was, when he was asleep.

Supper was finished, and the dishwater was growing cold, like it did many nights.

Jake stroked her back and kissed the lips that continued to fascinate him. "I missed you today, Mrs. Cooper." He ran his hand up her side and enfolded her breast in his hand.

"I missed you, too," she whispered back. Her mouth settled on his and teased him in a long, slow kiss.

He stood up with her in his arms, and carried her to the bedroom. He set her on her feet in front of him, and started undoing her buttons, one by one. He lifted the dress from her, and quickly dispensed with her undergarments.

When she was naked in front of him, he wrapped his arms around her and rested his head on hers. "I love you, you know. You've given me everything I've ever wanted." His words were deep, reverent.

She smiled up at him. "I love you too, Jake." She took his large hand and placed it on her flat, naked stomach that carried his next baby. "But there's one more thing I have to give you."

Realization gripped him. Happiness speared through him and he held her, and his new baby, safe in his arms.
