Chapter 2

Finding the girl before Lars could do her any real harm was relief. Zeb knew Lars all too well.  He knew they needed to find the woman before Lars was able to pay her back for the injury she had inflicted upon him. Unlike himself, Lars was not a forgiving or kind warrior.  He had nothing but hatred and anger running through his veins. He really enjoyed hurting others.  Zeb had put him up before the Council several times for his brutality.  But this was not a mission of conquer and destroy. It was supposed to be a peaceful mission. Even, if it involved taking the females without their permission. He was also hoping that he would be able to find a mate among the females of this planet they were taking.

Zeb just didn’t know what to do about Lars anymore. The council had barely slapped Lars on the hands for his last incident in the bar on board the ship. Lars had the attitude that he could bully and harm others and not be punished for it.  What Lars did not know was that Zeb had enough of him and had set into motion the procedures for removing a warrior from duty. Lars was not an honorable warrior and would seize every opportunity he could to hurt someone. Too many times Zeb had witnessed the pleasure he took in causing pain. If there was a fight in the bar it was usually Lars who started it. He had had his wages taken from him numerous times in order to pay for the damages he would cause when he instigated the fights. Most of the other warriors on the ship didn’t want anything to do with him.  They dreaded when they found out he would be on their team during a mission. Lars didn’t have many friends, but those that he did have could be just a brutal as he was.

Since Zeb was the commander of the warriors, he took it upon himself to rid the ship of Lars and hopefully his friends too. Realizing that he wasn’t going to get much help from the council, who wanted every able warrior on the ship, Zeb had decided to go to the top of the chain of command to solve the problem.

Zeb was able to have several teleconferences with the top commander and his staff. Lars’ file was pulled and reviewed with a fine tooth comb. In the ten years that Lars had been a warrior under Zeb’s command, Lars had managed to acquire numerous citations for behavior, thousands of krylons in wages had been taken to pay for damages, and he had been demoted twice. The top commander and Zeb agreed that Lars was no longer fit to continue as a warrior.  He would be removed from his position as an active warrior and placed on a more isolated duty station on board the mother ship. He would remain there until the time came when the ship was able to return from its current mission.

But before the final order could be handed down and sent to the council, their mission of gathering the females on the planet had begun.  Zeb knew without a doubt that Lars was going to cause trouble one way or another. Zeb ordered his men to watch Lars at all times and to never allow him to go off on his own. Lars, being his sneaky self, somehow managed to slip away by himself and start his own pursuit of the female they were now chasing. Zeb would shoot Lars with a stun laser if he had to.  Doing so would paralyze him on the spot for several hours.  He would do this before he would let Lars hurt the female.  Time was of the essence,   especially now that the small female had injured him.

The Theron warriors had come to this planet with secret and peaceful intentions. They had stumbled upon the planet called Earth a few months back while searching the galaxy for compatible life forms. They were on a mission of finding life forms that would be able to serve as mates for their warriors, since their own planet had been ravaged by war for years now.  Most of the women on their home planet had been either killed or taken prisoner, with the hopes of exterminating the Theron race of warriors. Their enemy, the Drylons, had been out to annihilate them and broke the peace treaty that had been in place for hundreds of years. The Drylons wanted complete control over the galaxy that the Drylons and Therons lived in. Luckily, for the time being, the war was at a peaceful stand still allowing the Theron warriors to set out in search of mates.

They hid their mother ship behind the planet Earth’s moon. There the Therons were able to secretly monitor the planet and had sent out transmission signals towards the blue planet with the hopes of receiving an answer in return. They wanted to take their time before coming down to the surface of the planet and explore what it may have to offer. From the initial scans of the life forms living on the planet, the Therons were able to discover that the humans held DNA that was very similar to their own. The scientists on board the mother ship were able to analyze their findings and came to the conclusion that the humans would be compatible with
their own DNA. They secretly watched the humans; some learned their language and monitored the transmissions, hoping for a reply. Within a week a transmission was received back from the planet and contained the answer they were hoping for. They had wanted to be able to approach the leader of their planet peacefully or they would have to move on to
plan B
which wasn’t one the Therons wanted to put into action.

The message that was received in the transmission was from an organization on the planet that called itself NASA.  They acknowledged that they were willing to communicate with the unknown life forms. A reply was immediately sent back to the planet with instructions on how to receive the visual transmission that the Therons were going to send so that the humans would be able to view those who were unknown to them without causing any kind of fear. The last thing they wanted to do was cause fear and lose this opportunity of finding compatible mates.

Chapter 3

Down on Earth, scientists at NASA were monitoring the skies as they always did.  They hoped to catch some sort of a reply to one of the thousands of transmissions they had sent out over the years. The day had finally come when the high tech equipment started beeping loudly and rapidly printing out a coded signal that was coming from behind the moon.  Immediately, supervisors went into action to conceal the information that they were receiving. The current protocol for the receipt of any kind of response from extraterrestrial beings was to seal off the room that held the staff and equipment that was used and quarantine it all so that no one was able to leak out any information.

The Administrator of NASA was called and informed that an intelligent
response had been received from space and appeared to be coming from behind the moon. The administrator gave authorization to send back a response and wait to see what happened. It wasn’t long before another message was received with directions on how to receive a visual transmission from the life forms contacting them. Strangely enough the members of NASA were quite perplexed on how the alien life forms were able to communicate to them in their own language of English.

The two scientists that were present when the first message was received were able to follow the directions of filtering the signal through the computers that would be able to isolate the visual signal. Then, they broadcast the visual image onto the screen that was hung on the wall. Nothing but static and white noise was coming through at first, but after several minutes an image began to appear on the screen.  It was nothing like the little green men they had all been told about as kids.

As the fuzz on the screen in the Administrator’s office began to clear, the images that they had been waiting to see for years came into focus. Not a word was uttered at first and you could have heard a pin drop onto a feather pillow.  It was so quiet. What they saw took them all by surprise.  For a moment, they just weren’t sure how to react.

The life form on the screen resembled humans so closely except for the color of their eyes and their obviously large stature. Three beings
stood in the center of the screen and the one in the middle was the first to break the silence.

“Greetings people of the planet called Earth. We are called Therons and come on a peaceful mission to your world. First, I would like to say thank you for responding to our transmission. We were hoping that you would have the capabilities of responding to us. Second, you are able to understand what we are saying due to a translation device that we use in our computer system and we are able to understand you because all Therons have a small micro translation chip implanted into the ear. So, please feel free to talk as you normally would and we will be able understand.” The Theron in the middle of the three had stepped forward and had begun to speak.

The Administrator was the first to regain his senses and said in reply, “Yes, of course. Why have you come to our planet?”

The middle Theron spoke again, “Let me introduce myself, I am called Brylon. To my left is the commander of our warriors, Zeb and to my right is Zane the ship’s physician. May I ask, what is your name?”

“I am Jonathan Meyers, administrator of this facility. I am the one in charge here.”

Brylon nodded his head in acknowledgement and said, “We come to your planet on a peaceful mission.  It is our desire that we will be able to work together and be able to provide each other with useful tools that each will find most valuable. But, first would you be willing to tell us more about where you are on the planet? We are trying to lock on to a location from which this transmission is coming from. We have been able to view your planet and have seen that there are several large landmasses. Are you, Jonathan Meyers, the leader of this world?”

“We have no leader of the entire world. We are broken up into countries and each country has its own leader. I am the leader of NASA, which is a government organization located in the country of the United States of America. My organization is used for our space program. I must say that we were quite shocked to have finally received a response to one of our transmissions sent into space. We have been searching space for years now for other forms of life but our knowledge of space is probably very limited compared to you. Where do you come from?” Meyers’ heart was beating a mile a minute and just couldn’t believe this was all actually happening.

Zeb stepped forward to answer the question asked by Meyers and replied, “We come from a galaxy roughly one hundred thousand light years away from your own planet. We travel through worm holes that are scattered throughout space. Your own galaxy contains a worm hole near the back side of your moon. Have you not seen it?”

“Like I said our knowledge of space is quite primitive compared to yours. Humans have yet to acquire the knowledge that would allow us to travel beyond our own moon. At present, we have only been able to send unmanned rockets and satellites beyond our moon. I would guess, in order for us to see the worm hole you mentioned, we would first have to know what to look for.” Meyers looked around at the others that stood next to him hoping that one of the others would interject and take over the conversation.

“Commander Meyers…” Zeb had started to speak again but was quickly interrupted by Meyers who said in a quick voice, “It’s just Meyers. I am not a commander. My title is Administrator.”

“So be it, Meyers. We would like to arrange a meeting between you and our people so that we may tell you what we have to offer in trade for what we want to obtain from your planet.”

“What do you want?” Meyers asked in a slightly shaking voice.

“We do not wish to reveal our intentions over this transmission.  It could be possibly intercepted by others on your planet. We would like to keep our mission a secret as you will soon find out why.” Zeb replied in a strong and steady voice.

“Give us just a moment to speak together.”

“Yes. Please do confer with your fellow men.”

As the men on earth were conferring with each other and periodically looking at the screen, Brylon switched off the sound on their end of the visual transmission in order to speak with Zeb without the earth men knowing what they were talking about.

“Do you think that they are going to agree to the meeting? I am a bit worried about the reaction we It’ll receive once they find out what we want.” Before Zeb or Zane had a chance to reply, the man called Meyers turned back toward the screen and said, “We have made the decision to meet with you and discuss what your intentions are. Where would you like to hold this meeting?”

“To show you that we are who we say we are I would like to bring you and your group on board our ship. It is a relatively simple task of bringing you here, though you may be a little surprised at one of our means of transportation.” Brylon said with a smile on his face.

“That is fine. When would you like the meeting to occur?”

“How about meeting right now?” Brylon said as he moved to forward and leaned over the station he was standing in front of.  He began to press a few buttons, then said to Meyers, “Hang on. I will transport you now.”

“What….” Was all the Meyers was able to get out of his mouth before he started to feel a tingling sensation throughout his body. He glanced over to the man next to him and saw that he was slowly starting to fade away into thin air. He looked down at his own hands and saw that the same thing was happening to him. He looked back up at the Therons on the screen for a split second.  The next second the Therons were standing right in front of him face to face.

“Holy crap, what the hell was that?” said Thomas who was standing next to Meyers as soon as he was able to move his body again of his own free will. “All I can say is, WOW!”

The men from earth were glued to the spot they were standing on, afraid to move a muscle, afraid because they didn’t know what to expect next. The three Therons that were previously on the big screen now stood directly in front of them, towering over them.

Zane said to the new arrivals, “Welcome aboard our ship.  I am fortunate to have learned your language, but my fellow warriors have not had the luxury of doing so.  If you would please fit yourselves with the devices on the table, we will all be able to understand one another.  They function as a translation device.  This way you can understand all of us.”
