“Babe, I want some more. Why’d you do that for?” He whines, very manly.

“How about we go to the bathroom?” I suggest, wiggling my eyebrows.

“Are you for real? Are you thinking what I’m thinking?” His voice breathes excitement while his eyes bug out.

“Why don’t you march your buns of steel into the bathroom, and you’ll find out.”

I’ve never seen him move this fast, and he has an IV pole he has to tug along. Men and blow jobs, you can’t have one without the other.

“Come on, Trish; you’re too slow! Get your ass in here!” Jake yells from inside the bathroom.

Before I could even put my hand on the door knob, he reaches out and pulls me in. His lips are quickly on mine, and we pick up where we left off. His hungry mouth devours mine, while his roaming hands explore every inch of my body. I capture both his wandering hands and interlace our fingers, while he continues his tongue assault on me. I slowly pull my lips away, start kissing his jaw, and down to his neck. While my hands release his and he gently tugs on his basketball shorts, I slowly stroke his hard length, causing him to moan. He grabs my hair, turning my head to capture my lips, our tongues engage in a sensual dance full of passion and overflowing with emotions.

I break our kiss, and abruptly, drop on my knees. Knowing what I’m about to do, Jake’s hands grab onto my hair. I lick him from the base to the tip of his cock, and slowly, I let my tongue twirl around his slit before putting him all the way in my mouth. His grip tightens on my hair, and a groan escapes his mouth.

“God…babe…”

Oh yes, God, make this quick please! I continue to suck him, while imagining I’m, actually, sucking on a lollipop. Cherry flavor pops in my brain; that’s good, I can work with cherry. I know he’s close, because his grip on my hair tightens just a bit more.

“Babe, I need to pull out,” He huskily says.

As he pulls out of my mouth I continue to stroke him. I look up and see the love of my life biting his lower lip with his eyes shut. Thank the Lord Almighty, that didn’t take long!

“Thanks, sweetheart,” He says, grinning at me as if he’s won the lottery.

He helps me up and kisses the shit out of me.

“What brought that on? You don’t enjoy giving me head, so what’s up?”

“Just wanted to surprise you, that’s all. You know, be spontaneous! Carpe Diem…seize the dick…I mean seize the day.”

“We’re here! Finally!” Roxy’s super excited voice snaps me out of my going down memory blow job lane…pun intended.

“Excited much, Roxy? Do you mind being more sympathetic of Trish’s pain?”

“Tami, I’m just excited to see my future niece-sicles or nephew-sicles.”

“Let’s just do this.” I get out of the car, marching straight to the doctor’s office.

I’m doing the retrieval today which is the most painful part of the whole process. My cramping will intensify, and definitely no sex! I’m laying down flat, both feet in stir-ups and I look at the monitor not really seeing anything. It’s better than watching the doctor insert a needle that has a suction to get viable eggs. The procedure will also be done on my other ovary. Right now, I’m in extreme pain. The doctor explains that sometimes it’s where the eggs are and retrieving them could be painful.

I could barely move and going home isn’t an option at this point. Jake will think something is wrong if I don’t go back at the hospital. So, I need to suck it up and pretend everything is okay.

Chapter 33

Jake

It’s been three weeks post-transplant, and I’m dying to get the hell out. Instead of being happy, I’m pissed because I know something is going on, and no one is telling me jack shit. Trish went somewhere again today, and I can’t wait for her to get here so I can get to the bottom of this.

“Hey, Jake; where’s Brian and Cody?”

“Rox, where’s Trish?” Directly asking her because I’m getting impatient.

“She’s coming, okay. What crawled up your ass?” She answers with an attitude.

As soon as Trish walks in, I know something’s wrong. She’s walking funny and her smile’s pained. She tries to act as if nothing is wrong, while I don’t bother to mask my feelings. I’ve had enough of this.

“Trish, what’s wrong? You’re scaring the shit out of me.”

“Nothing’s wrong. I have my period, okay?” She pouts, goes straight to her sleeper, and lays down in a fetal position.

I go near her, positioning my IV pole as best I can, and I kneel down facing her. Her eyes are closed as I push her hair off her face, but really I’m checking to see if she has fever.

Speaking softly, “Babe, are you sure it’s just your period? You’re not lying to me, are you? Talk to me. Tell me what you need.”

She opens her eyes. “I’m okay. Stop worrying.” She doesn’t look at me, and it’s not lost to me that she doesn’t answer my question about her lying.

I sigh loudly. “Okay, I’m going to drop this for now, but if you’re sick and you’re not telling me, we’re gonna have a problem.”

She looks at me, finally, with that cute smile plastered on her face, and my irritation flies out the damn door. This woman owns me, she owns my entire being.

“Don’t be mad, please. Just give me an hour, and I’ll be good as new.” She smiles, but it doesn’t reach her eyes.
My girl is lying to me.

“Not mad; just asking, that’s all. Now, can I get my kisses, please?”

She gives them to me, as always. She never complains, always giving me what I want and need. She’s my own personal angel, meant only for me.
Right now, she’s my lying angel.
Trish sleeps for an hour, and as soon as she wakes up the girls take her out, again.

“I’ll be back soon, okay? Cody and Brian will be here, enjoy your bro time with them,” She says, kissing me hurriedly as she walks toward the door.

“Where are you going now? Are you feeling better now?”

“I need to grab Thai food for Ms. Betsy and Summer. With you being so cranky, I need to butter them up. We’ll be quick, the restaurant isn’t that far.”

“Drive safely and come back ASAP, please,” I yell out and hopefully she hears me.

Cody, Brian, and I are playing Xbox when my doctor walks in. He normally doesn’t smile, but today he is. That’s a good sign, I think.

“Hey, Dr. Hu. What’s up?” My jack hammering heart is about ready to burst out of my fucking chest.

“Well, Jake, congratulations. You are a free man.”

I’m stunned, shocked, relieved, happy, ecstatic, but the one emotion that stands out is thankful. I’m thankful I can and will have my forever with the girl I love so much. I can’t wait to tell her. I can’t wait to see tears cascading down her pretty face. If there’s one moment in my life where I want to see her cry, this would be it. Her tears will be tears of joy…joy that has been robbed from her for the past couple of months. I look at Cody and Brian; both are hugging each other, wiping their eyes.

“Thank you, Dr. Hu. I’m speechless, right now,” I say trying to fight back tears.

He smiles again. “Don’t thank me, Jake, thank the Big Man Upstairs. He only used me to do His miracle. Enjoy her. Now, you can have your forever with her.”

With that, he leaves. Yup, it truly is a miracle. I think back and imagine being given three months to live. I close my eyes and say a prayer of thanks to the
One
who has given me a new lease on life. He actually saved Trish and me…HE saved US.

“Damn, Jake, I love you, bro!” Brian hugs me so tight he might, actually, break me in half.

“What did I tell you, dude! You kicked the big C’s ass!” Cody cheers, doing a couple of fist pumps.

Cody’s phone keeps ringing every ten seconds. It’s getting on my last nerve.

“Roxy checking up on you?” I finally have to ask.

“Nope, Portia’s been texting me,” Cody answers without looking at me.

“You’re playing with fire, man. When Roxy finds out, your ass is grass,” Brian says with a disapproving look at Cody.

“Get off my ass, alright? She’s been on the phone, constantly, with LT, whatever, the fuck his name is. Do you see me making a big deal out of it? We have an understanding. She knows the deal.”

I start shaking my head. “So, you’re fucking someone behind her back? That’s fucked up, Cody. She’s my cousin, man.”

“I know what I’m doing, Jake. Let’s enjoy this moment, alright?”

Brian was about to say something, but Tami and Roxy walk in; any talk about Portia stops.

“Hey, boys. What have you guys been up to?” Roxy asks eyeing Cody.

I notice Trish isn’t with them, and that is the perfect deflection to kill the awkwardness permeating the room. If I can sense it, I’m sure the girls can, too.

“I thought Trish was with you girls?” I ask.

“She’s talking to Ms. Betsy, she’ll be here soon,” Tami answers.

“Tami, get Joe and Emily. I want to see my Silver girl shine.”

Right now, I wouldn’t mind seeing Trish cry…

***

As soon as Trish opens the door, I smile as wide as the Pacific Ocean. I stretch out my arms, signaling for her to come to me. She eyes the cake, and I’m sure she’s wondering, why there’s one on my food tray.

She falls into my arms, and I’m savoring the comfort only her warmth can give me.

“Okay, please, tell me what’s going on. Why do you have a cake? Who gave it to you?” With her looking at my face, I’m sure she’s trying to guess what I’m keeping from her.

“I don’t think I could have survived the past couple of months without you by my side. Thank you for loving me, taking care of me, and staying by me. I just hope I can surpass everything you’ve done for me. I know I can’t promise forever, nor can I promise you tomorrow….” I stop and close my eyes.

“Jake, you’re scaring me! What is it? Is there something wrong?”

I shake my head, and a tear rolls down my cheek. She wipes it away and kisses me gently on the lips.

“What I can promise you is today. But, can we play fast five first.” I give her, her favorite smile to avoid any injury to Jake junior.

She looks at me with her mouth hanging open. “Jake! Really? Tell me now!”

I chuckle. “Patience, Trish. I’ll tell you, but let’s play, first. You go; come on, humor me.”

“Humor you! Your dick is in serious danger here!”

“You won’t do it; you love it, too much. Now, get on with it, please.”

She finally obliges, but after she gives me an eye roll. “Sweet?”

“Lips.”

“Short?” She raises her eyebrows and looks down.

“You want to play dirty? Is that how you want this to play out?”

“Just answer, short!!”

“Your patience!” I squeeze her fine ass.

“Sour?”

“Your attitude, right now.”

“Long?”

“I can’t believe I’m going to say this, but I’ll change my normal answer.”

She blows out a breath. “Just answer already, Jake!”

“What’s the question, again?” I’m trying to prolong her agony.

“Ugh, Long!”

“Ah right, my patience.”

“Favorite?”

“Easy, You!” Kissing her nose.

I start rubbing my hands together and giving her a mischievous smile.

“Now, it’s my turn. Are you ready?” I wiggle my eyebrows at her.

“Hit me; fast and hard! Don’t be shy, give it to me rough.” She laughs.

We both laugh. That’s the sweetest sound I’ve heard in a very long time.

“I don’t have any questions, I’d like to dance with you, though.”

She scrunches up her brows. “Now? Why?”

I ask Ms. Betsy to disconnect me from my ever loyal IV pole for this. I get off the bed, walk toward the center of the room, and place a stool right in front of me.

She raises her eyebrow. “Really, a stool Jake?”

I shrug my shoulders. “Trish, you’re not wearing heels. You’ll be kissing my nipples if you don’t use it. I want your heart to touch mine when we dance.”

She gives me my favorite smile as she steps on it and I hold her close to me, as close as I possibly can just as the door opens, and Joe starts playing
Bridge Over Troubled Waters
. As soon as she hears the music and Joe’s voice, she takes in a breath and looks at me. We both just cry…tears of fucking joy…FINALLY. We hold onto each other as we did when our world was thrown in the middle of this cancer shit storm. This girl pulled me through the darkest days of my life, comforted me through the toughest times, and rescued me from the pits of hell.

I'll take your part
When darkness comes
And pain is all around

All your dreams are on their way

“Thank God, it’s over, Trish. I get to go home with you. We’re on our way to our forever, babe. We did it. Marry me soon, Trish. I don’t want to wait a minute longer. I can’t wait to start my forever with you.”

She buries her face in my neck and cries. For the first time in a very long time, since this whole thing started, I don’t mind her crying. It doesn’t hurt. Happy tears, I thought we’d never shed, but here we are doing just that. I continue to sway us, and I feel so light, as if a huge bolder has been lifted off me. She truly stills my heart and my mind.
