He seals our conversation with a kiss that affirms our love for each other. It’s not just a mingling of our tongues, but it’s a unification of his adoration to me and my devotion to him. While the road we took to get here was not all that rosy and smooth sailing, I would never trade it for anything. His love is enough for me, as my love is for him. We can weather any storm, survive whatever life gives us, and still stand strong because our love surpasses all that.

As we walk back to the hotel, I know a fast five is necessary to completely calm him.

“Ready for our fast five, babe?” I ask playfully.

“Hit me, baby, one more time,” He says to the tune of Brittney Spears song, chuckling.

I gasp. “Since when, are you a fan of Britney Spears?”

“Oooppps, I did it again.”

“What the hell is wrong with you? Are you fantasizing about Brittney Spears?”

He’s still laughing, while shaking his head. “Summer said that every time she gave me my meds. It stuck with me, I guess.”

“Ready?”

He nods. “Shoot.”

“Happy?” I look at him.

He winks at me and says, “Extremely.”

“Excited?”

He grins. “My dick.”

I roll my eyes. “You’re ruining the moment, Mr. Horny Pants!”

“Hurry up, woman!” He nuzzles his nose into my neck and playfully bites me.

“Sweet?”

“Your lips.”

“Craving?”

“You….always you.”

“Want?”

He caresses my cheek with the back of his hand. “Nothing, babe. I have you and your love, and that’s all I’ll ever need. Any blessings that come our way, are just an added bonus.”

“My turn. Nervous?”

I shake my head. “Nope.”

I’m not nervous, because we’re getting married. My nervousness stems from something I’ve kept from him for a couple of months now, and that secret alone is enough to make me gnaw on my fingernails non-stop. As if he could sense my nervousness, he tries to calm me down by asking, of course, something sexual.

“Wet?” He gives me his sexy grin, and the look that says
to tell him the truth and nothing but the truth so help his dick!

I tap my lips with my pointer finger and scrunch my nose as if I’m in deep thought. “Hmmm, something wet. My tongue?”

He shakes his head. “Wrong, give me another answer.”

“Oookay, lips?” I smirk at him.

He raises his brow at me. “Which ones? Come on, say it.”

“My pussy, there!”

“Finally, was that so hard?”

He stops walking and holds my face with both his hands. His eyes are roaming all over my face as if he’s imprinting me in his memory.

“I’ve still got three more left, right?” He confirms as he continues to stare at me, his love for me shining clearly through his eyes.

I can’t say a word. Our connection overtakes every emotion possible, nothing can penetrate it, not even fear…definitely not fear.

“Okay, Your
ONE
?”

“You,” I answer affectionately.

“Your love?”

“Always you…forever you.”

“This last one is a long one. I can’t put it in just one word. If I’m on my death bed and you want to give me something, what would it be?” Our eyes fix on each other. The depth of his emotions on his face and in his eyes is so intense, I can hardly breathe. Not because it’s smothering me, but the force of his love is all-powerful; it fills me to overflowing.

“I’d give you my heart. No question. I’d give it, because I’d never fall in love again. I’d never find another one like you. How could I possibly replace my
one
? If you leave me, my heart goes with you. I love you beyond words, Jake.”

He smiles at me, his eyes twinkling in delight. “Say it, again.”

“I love you, so very much,” Smiling back I say it again.

“It never fails. Every time you tell me you love me, my dick feels it, too.” He chuckles.

I’m speechless, but not totally surprised that my soon-to-be-husband will somehow find a way to include his dick in our love fest.

“Must you always mention the status of your dick?”

“What? There’s nothing wrong with that. How about my kitty, what’s her status?” He asks, casting his eyes downward while licking his lips.

I gasp. “I can’t believe you just asked me that! Let’s go, it’s almost time, and Roxy might change the status of your dick from hard and saluting to soft and non-functional.” I pull him toward the elevator before he makes a smart ass comment.

He kisses me goodnight at the door, hugging me tight, and breathing me in.

“Goodnight, baby. Dream of me, okay?” I whisper in his ear.

“I love you. I’ll see you tomorrow, and please, don’t take too long. I can’t breathe very well when you’re not with me. It’s as if a part of my heart is missing….” He rubs the tip of his nose against mine, and my heart melts, yet again. Then, he speaks and my swooning comes to a grinding halt. “Not to mention, my dick seconds that. Jake junior can’t live without his kitty.”

Seriously! I want to slap him upside the head after that. Our time apart is messing with his brain. It’s as if he’s turned into a mini Cody with an over active dick.

“Jake! Just go to your room,” I tell him while stomping my feet.

“You want to go to my room? We can have a quickie. Come on, no one will know,” He says as he pulls my hand.

“Leave now, Jake, or else, I’ll kick your balls to kingdom come, and chop your dick off, if you don’t!” Roxy’s muffled voice comes from behind the door.

Jake embraces me one last time, while whispering sweet nothings to me.

“I better let you go before Ms. Dick Repo in there harms the family jewels. I love you, Trish.”

Roxy suddenly opens the door and pulls me in. There goes my goodnight kiss! Caput! Gone!

“Rox, take care of….” Jake says before Roxy interrupts him, earning a frustrated growl from Jake.

“Yes, I know, take care of your baby. What do you think we’re going to do to her, Jake?” Roxy looks at him, and whatever she sees softens her up in a matter of seconds. “Relax, Jake. Just one more night, alright? Now, go and rest. She’ll miss you just as much if not more. Go!” Roxy smiles at him, then she closes the door.

Chapter 37

Trish

“Hey, Trish, are you ready?” Tami asks.

I turn around and look at Tami, dressed in a strapless light purple chiffon dress. She has her hair in an up do with an orchid behind her left ear, which means she’s taken. Then, Roxy comes into view. She’s wearing the same dress as Tami, but her hair is down with big waves and no flowers. I’m not even going to ask her, because her and Cody’s relationship is weird. It’s even weirder now that LT’s back in the picture. It pains me to see Cody, his longing eyes always following, watching Roxy. If I were to guess where the flower should be, I’d bet on her vagina, maybe Cody still owns it. I can’t believe I’m thinking of her vajayjay minutes from walking down the aisle.

“Are you nervous, girly?” Roxy nudges me.

“A little bit. I miss him, though; I haven’t seen him since last night.” I sigh.

“Oh, for heaven’s sake, Trish! In less than an hour, you’ll see his fan-COCK-stic ass and his FUCK-tabulous body.”

“Ah, Roxy, please, your language! You should make a DICK-tionary of all the nasty words you come up with.”

Tami laughs behind me. “You encourage her, Trish. Don’t get her going!”

My phone beeps, and I know, instantly, who it is.

Jake: I miss you, baby. Can you please open the door?

Me: I would if I could, but Tami and Rox will kill me.

Jake: Need to kiss you, babe.

Me: Be patient.

Jake: Fine, but make it quick! I want to kiss you already!

Me: I’ll be the one wearing white.

Jake: I’ll be the one with a hard on

Me: behave!

Jake: just hurry!

My mother walks in, and as much as she tries to cover her sadness, I know she wishes my dad were here with us to see me get married.

“Trish, you look beautiful, my darling. Your dad would have been over the moon and proud of you. But, in a way, I know he helped you find your
ONE
.” She gently holds my cheeks, “I’m so very happy for you, and I can’t wait to see Jake’s face when you tell him. The pain is over, Trish. Both of you have come a long way.”

“I love you, Mom. I’ll be right out, okay?” Trying to control the tears that are slowly threatening to fall.

I take a deep breath, facing the wide open sliding door, overlooking the ocean. I thank God for everything He has done for Jake and for me. Thankful that He has given Jake another lease on life to spend it with me. I have to pinch myself several times to make sure this isn’t a dream, because a couple of months ago, I never would have thought I’d see this day come to fruition. I never allowed my mind to wander toward our wedding, knowing the uncertainty of his situation. There is no trace of fear, whatsoever, in my heart. There will never be a time I’ll forget what we’ve gone through. What he’s gone through. The pain, anguish, worry, sleepless nights, and fear will forever be in my memory. It’ll serve as a reminder to me that life is precious. Most importantly, that love can conquer all. Our love anchored us. We struggled, bounced violently against the fear of his sickness, but our love held on. It didn’t break us…in fact, it made us stronger. I wish I believed more and trusted sooner in that one Supreme Being who can lift me up, carry me, and see me through anything and everything.

Roxy pokes her beautiful face through the crack in the door. Giving me that goofy smile she only uses when I’m in a nervous state, which currently I am.

“Ready for your close up, Trish? Come on, none of that sentimental shit, alright? Please, think about your make up! Plus, the longer we wait, the longer you’ll have to wait to boink Mr. Hotness outside. Yuck! I can’t believe I said
Mr. Hotness
! Maybe to you he’s hot, but to me that’s a negative.”

“Alright, let’s do this. I want to boink Mr. Slong as soon as I can.”

The look on Roxy’s face says she wants to throw up, or she’s constipated. It’s very comical actually, that I can make her speechless.

“Please, don’t say that again. I think I just barfed in my mouth, Trish! Mr. Slong, really? The only Mr. Slong I know is …”

I scream shaking my head. “Ahhhh, don’t say it! Please, I don’t want to know!”

As much as she tries to downplay what’s happening between her and Cody, she can’t. It’s very apparent to everyone there’s something going on. I pull her arms to face me.

“Is there something wrong, Rox?”

She sighs. “It’s nothing, Trish. This is your day, so don’t worry about me. I’m fine. Who the hell am I kidding, my life turned into a major disaster since LT showed up. I wish I could get over my hang ups, or at the very least, figure out what I need to do, but I can’t.” She pauses and closes her eyes. “Anyway, don’t sweat it, alright? Cody and LT just need to figure out how to get along. Let’s just drop it.”

“I still can’t believe LT is back and here. Can you imagine how awkward it is between him and Cody? Okay, I’ll let it go, for now. Tomorrow, though, you have some explaining to do.”

Tami, Roxy, and I walk in the hallway of the hotel, shoulder to shoulder, saying nothing, but feeling everything. We’ve been friends for so long, and have gone through a lot of things together; this moment right here, walking with them, gives me a sense of unity. A one for all, all for one feeling. Until someone toots, and the moment is lost.

“Really? Roxy! You have to do that now?”

“Hey, it’s called ‘when nature calls, you answer’. No hanging up on Mother Nature, alright?” She mumbles.

“You both know I love you crazy gals, so much! Tooting or no tooting, we know we have each other’s backs; now let’s get this show on the road,” Tami says.

Holding my nose. “What? I can’t breathe, thanks to Ms. Tooting-Pants over here.”

“Oh please, give it a rest, already. A few more steps, and we’re out.”

As we get closer to the door leading to the east side of the hotel, my knees start shaking and my hands begin to sweat. I’m not nervous about what I’m about to do, or what I’m about to say to the love of my life; but I’m nervous as to how he’ll react to everything I’m going to unleash on him. Will he be ready for it? I knew doing it behind his back was a huge gamble, but hopefully, it’ll pay off.

I take a peak outside, and I think for a while, I’m in paradise. Well, maybe I am. From the steps, where my wedding entourage will start walking, tons of orchids are scattered. All the way to what is called The Diamond Head Lawn, overlooking the ocean, where four huge bamboos are laced with white chiffon; making a simple, yet elegant, gazebo where Jake will be waiting for me. Around the gazebo are Espresso colored Chiavari chairs with white cushions arranged in a circular setting, so our families and friends will be active participants, as opposed to being part of an audience.

My mom hands me my bouquet of white roses with purple orchids wrapped in a white satin cloth with pearl pins around. Emily, our flower girl gives me two thumbs up, Tami and Roxy turn and smile, while Brian and Cody both wink at me. The music starts, and Emily walks first, followed by Roxy and Cody, followed by Tami and Brian, and then mom and me.

As soon as I see him, my heart starts beating like the energizer bunny. Walking toward him, my memories of
us
flash like a movie in my mind’s eye. From the first time we met, how he waited for me, how he served as my anchor when my father and Dylan died, the many fights we’ve had, the jokes we’ve pulled on each other, the bets I’ve won and he lost, the times we’ve broken up, how he stood strong throughout his illness, and just how he loves me whole heartedly.

As I get closer to him, I can see his smile, as wide as the ocean behind us. His eyes, as always, mirroring mine. He mouths ‘I Love You’ to me, and I mouth it right back.

The Pastor smiles at mom. “Who gives this woman to be married to this man?” He asks.

With a shaky voice, she says, “I do, and her dad in Heaven does, too.”
