Epilogue
The following July, Outside of Sitges, Spain
I gaze at the view in front of me. I’m sitting on the terrace of a gorgeous Spanish mansion, set on a hillside overlooking the lush Penedes wine region. From where I sit, I can see the sun shining over the sea. I can also see Garraf National Park and all its greenery, and the most luxurious infinity pool I have ever seen.
I take a sip of my coffee and sigh happily. It’s nothing short of pure bliss.
“Breakfast is ready, Mrs. Flynn.”
I turn over my shoulder and see Harrison grinning at me. He has a tray in his hands filled with breads and cheeses and fruit.
“Could you say that again?”
“Breakfast?” Harrison teases, arching an eyebrow as he puts the tray down in front of me.
I giggle. “No. Mrs. Flynn. I still love hearing that.”
Harrison picks up my left hand and drops a kiss on top. “Well, we were only married four days ago, so you can still be in love with your new name.”
I smile at him. “I’ll always be in love with my name. And you.”
Harrison leans over and kisses me. He takes my hand and links it in his. “Marrying you was better than winning the championship, you know.”
I beam at him. Harrison had his best season ever professionally this past year, and led the Dallas Demons to their first ever championship. We married at the SMU Chapel two weeks after the season ended and had a beautiful reception at Five Sixty to celebrate.
“Don’t let the media hear you say that,” I tease, laughing. “You’re supposed to put hockey above everything else.”
Harrison cradles the back of my neck with his hand. “You will always be my
everything
.” Then he gives me a slow, lingering kiss.
Then he breaks the kiss and begins slicing up some of the wonderful Spanish cheeses we picked up in town yesterday.
I go to taste one but I stop to stare at my engagement ring and wedding band as the morning sun hits them. I’m
married
. Married to my Prince Harry. I gaze at the brilliant yellow Tiffany diamond, the one Harrison chose because he told me the color was warm and gentle and unique, just like me, and I still can’t believe I’m here. In Spain. Looking out over the hillside to the sea with my husband at my side.
“Want to go to Barcelona today?” Harrison asks, taking a sip of his coffee. “Do our solo trip before everyone comes next week?”
I smile at him. We’re spending one week in the mansion alone, and then we invited our families to join us for a week. One of Harrison’s old hockey friends from Boston will be joining us, and so will Gretchen, so it will be a blast.
But for now it’s just Harrison and I here in this beautiful Spanish countryside, and I want to relish every second of it.
“Or we could go hiking,” Harrison continues, reaching for some bread.
“Or we could use the infinity pool,” I say, grinning at him.
Harrison looks at me and laughs. “I like your style, Kylie Flynn.”
“Maybe I can do a little sketching before we swim,” I say, picking up a piece of sweet bread. “I’m thinking I need to do a Spanish-inspired line of aprons and linens for KR Vintage Designs.”
KR Vintage Designs has been growing at a nice, even pace this past year. In fact, when we get back to Dallas, I have a meeting with a buyer at the Dallas Market Center who wanted to see my line. It’s amazing what happens when you’re willing to take some chances in life and believe in yourself.
“Nice,” Harrison says, nodding. “I can do some work for my class while you do that.”
I smile proudly at him. Harrison is taking an online psychology course, an introductory level class, and I couldn’t be prouder of him taking that leap into the future.
“Then we can go to town and get stuff so I can make paella tonight,” Harrison adds.
“Mmmmm, I can’t wait to try that with true local ingredients,” I say happily.
Harrison reaches over and plays with my hair. “And I think you might want to start designing some bibs and burp clothes to add to KR Vintage Designs,” Harrison says, slowly drawing his fingers through my hair and tucking it behind my ear. “Since we plan on trying for a baby next year.”
My heart feels nothing but pure joy at the thought. “So when we return to Spain next summer we can work on adding to our family, is that what you are suggesting, Mr. Flynn?”
Harrison’s eyes shine brightly at me. “I can’t think of a better place to start one.” Then he shakes his head. “Funny, I was here alone last June. There was nobody in my life, and I didn’t see that changing. Until you picked me up in a bar—”
“I did not pick you up in a
bahr
!” I cry, laughing and making fun of his strong Boston accent.
“You did.”
“Did not.”
“Our children will speak with that accent, you know.”
“No they won’t,” I say, laughing. “They’ll be Texans.”
“With a Boston accent. I’ll teach them the proper way to speak,” Harrison says, grinning at me.
“So they will say y’all?”
“No, but they’ll ask to borrow the
cahr
when they are older,” Harrison declares.
“Well we’ll just have to see how they turn out, won’t we?”
“The possibilities are endless,” Harrison says, reaching for my hand and entwining it with his.
“Yes, they are,” I say, smiling at my husband. “I love you.”
“I love you, too.”
And with our hands entwined and a future of endless possibilities ahead of us, I gaze out over the Spanish countryside.
Ready for a lifetime with my Prince Harry.

CONNECTIVITY
Overachiever Mary-Kate Grant (who is indeed named after an Olsen Twin) has followed every rule to the letter to pursue her dream of working in TV programming. Ripping a page from the “hard work pays off” playbook, she takes an assistant level job at a Chicago sports network to break into the industry.
MK has no time or desire for a relationship right now—she is totally focused on her career and being independent, unlike the other women in her family.
But MK’s plans are run through the shredder when she finds herself working for William Cumberland, a British media mogul who made his fortune with Connectivity, a social media site. William blows into Chicago just like the winds off Lake Michigan and purchases the group of networks MK works for—and makes her his personal assistant in the process.
Suddenly MK finds her career plans in jeopardy. William makes her question everything she has ever thought and has the uncanny ability to see right through her. And for the first time in her life, MK finds herself not only questioning what she wants for her career but for her personal life as well.
