“Where’s Tanto, David?” Melody asked, curious as to why they no longer have their original driver.

“Mom, Granddad wanted to talk with him for some reason so when I mentioned I needed to buy a few things myself he called him home.  While you gals were eating Tanto drove back home and I took over.  Traffic’s a crush today!”

“David what’s the real reason you’re here now as our driver?”
Elizabeth
asked, giving him her ‘don’t think you’re gonna fool me’ look.

“Alright, Granddad does want to talk with him, about some project on H’trae, but Tanto notified us that there were a couple of guys trailing behind you ladies and he didn’t know if he should park and pursue or what,” David explained with a serious face.

The women looked puzzled.  Then David showed them on the rear view screen the pics Tanto had sent.  Sure enough, there were three men, possibly not knowing one another, but following them all the same.

“I wonder why they were following us?” Mary asked in bewilderment.

“Well, duh!  Mary, you, my Beth and Mom aren’t exactly the usual shopping ladies that grace these stores.  Being the beautiful women that you all are, they probably wanted to get a chance to ask you ladies out for a drink or a date.”

All three women blew raspberries at him.  He shook his head in laughter at their naivety.

He kept chuckling to himself off and on all the way back home.

CHAPTER 3 *  *

THE  EVENT

Friday evening an hour before the party, Mel was busy checking out her outfit.  She had on a black gauzy skirt and had bought one of those body suits with the snap at the crotch.  She looked at the lace insert at the center of the scooped neckline.
Was this too provocative?

Nah, it’s what many other young women were wearing now, and this one only showed the beginning of her cleavage.
The black knit top fit her like a glove, even her arms felt like they were bare it was so comfortable.

Melody put part of the top of her long fluffy hair up in a ponytail just off center to her head.  She arranged some curly strains to hang down like long bangs on the sides of her temples.  Then she fluffed her hair out so that it made her face look even smaller with her naturally long tight waves.

“Darned if I couldn't give several pop singers a run for their money!” she said aloud, actually surprised at the look.

She put on her black high heeled boots that fit tight to the knees and the gold chain belt that sat at the top of her hips.  Both the boots and the belt had tiny gold chains hanging all over them.  Yes, this might surprise Jonathan Jontu after all, she decided with a nod.

Jon had been secretive about his outfit for the party as well, so he was dressing over in David's wing of the house.  They had told everyone to dress casual, like they would to any band concert.

There were over two hundred and fifty people coming over, but most this time were business associates and friends from the “outside” though many of their own people who stayed here on Earth were going to be there as well.  Most everyone would be in their twenties and thirties.

Jonathan and Mark had been acting like teenagers the past two days anxious for Friday to arrive.  When those two are up to something you can usually bet it’s going to be big, everyone knew.

Melody smiled to herself, remembering their whispers and manly chuckles here of late.

It was now time so Melody headed down stairs and began greeting guests with Mary.  All their staff was helping with the car parking, letting people in and so forth.

Everyone had been told there was going to be a live band, but Melody had kept the name of the band a secret.

As Melody led guests to their outside staging area, they noted an elaborate stage had been built out on the beach with professional spot lights and a laser show was in progress.

The trees were twinkling and tiki torches surrounded the entire four acre area that had been roped off from the surrounding six acres of their property.  The pool and gardens were lit and the atmosphere was filled with excitement.

Suddenly everyone heard the sound of instruments tuning up.  The crowd soon began gathering at the stage area.  David was going to open with his band first, Melody already knew.

When the music began to take on a heart thudding beat the stage curtains opened as David began belting out one of his favorite songs.  He was fantastic!  There wasn't a group in
America
who was any better.

When he started into the second song Melody was shocked right out of her boots.  Jonathan had his shoulder length hair down and curled just like David's.  Except that wasn't the complete surprise.  Jonathan joined David in the song and they sounded just alike.  Both looked for all the world like identical twins.

She watched in a trance as the two men put on a real rocking show.  Jonathan was playing a keyboard that hung around his neck while David had a similar instrument but shaped like a guitar.  It was the instrument David had invented, patented and was selling like snow cones in hot Summer.

Towards the end of the third song Mark came around from the back and was in front with the two lead singers playing a real steel guitar and singing backup for them.  Beth was a band member playing another keyboard.

The guys long hair flew wildly as they really got into the music.  They slid, jumped, pranced, stomped, skidded and danced across the stage.  The crowd was screaming and leaping up and down.  The guests really broke loose as they began to recognize the men.

Melody couldn't stay still, they were really good!  She joined in with the screaming and clapping as the crowd started going wild with excitement.

Jonathan sang a solo next, it was a beautiful love song.  He constantly kept his eyes on Melody’s glowing face throughout it.  Women were yelling and clustering all around her telling her how lucky she was.

When the first set was finished Melody and Mary ran to the back of the stage and had to almost beat at the other women to get to the door as it opened.  All three men and Beth stepped out of the double doors at the same time.  Melody was getting afraid of a stampede by the sounds she was hearing behind her.

The men nodded and yelled their thanks as they fought their way to their wives.  People finally began to calm down to a low roar as they went about the party greeting guests.

Melody kept hearing, “They're the greatest sounding group that I've ever heard.  This must be their coming out party!”  She heard a lot of women telling Jonathan just how much they'd love to have just a few seconds alone with him.  He would smile at them, kept holding Melody and kissing on her, which seemed to send them into waves of ecstasy.

One woman yelled out in a crazed frenzy, “Let me have your baby!”

Jonathan couldn't wipe the grin off his handsome face.  They finally were able to get to a seat, but a crowd stayed around them.  After a while Jonathan stood up, still holding Mel's hand and began looking over all the excited heads, then he began laughing and sat down again.

“Mel, they're all over Mark and David too!  It doesn't take much to get these people excited does it?”

“Jonathan Jontu!  You know perfectly well that the three of you are the sexiest men on Earth, then to be able to put on a performance like that!  Well, I was screaming and yelling right along with the best of 'em!” Melody yelled into his ear.

“I know you were, I was watching you the whole time, my love,” Jonathan yelled back to her.  He was beyond thrilled to know that he had surprised her so greatly.

After a while David came walking over with his torn jeans and now ripped shirt with at least eight women and men clinging to him.

David yelled, “Let's go, Mel!”  Then he immediately grabbed her hand and turned to take her from Jonathan.

“What does he mean, ‘Let's go Mel’?  Where are you going?”  Jonathan yelled to Melody as she got up.

“It's my surprise!  Sit right where you are and just watch,” Melody shouted above the din.

       Jonathan thought to himself,
What's
she going to do?  Read poetry?  This crowd will tear the place apart if we don't get back up and sing again!

Soon he heard the deep vibrations of a good bass player then a fantastic sax joined in.  Finally the throaty voice of a very sexy sounding female could be heard booming through the microphone.  The Heavenly voice began rising to almost unheard of octaves as the rhythm got faster.

Suddenly the music took on a bone jarring jungle beat and the woman began to really sing.  He was trying to be nice to their guests but he had to stand up to see who Melody had hired to sing.  Whoever she was, she was one talented lady!

Jon had trouble looking over the jumping and bouncing heads, of mostly men, as he worked himself frontward.  Everyone was hindering or stopping him.  He felt people actually pulling his hair!  He finally saw through a break in the crowd just who the person with the lusty, gutsy voice was.

“Mel?!” Jonathan yelled out, completely stunned.  Men were having fits.  They were whistling, yelling and clapping.  The entire crowd went electric as Jon watched mesmerized while Melody hiked up one spiked high heeled boot on top of a chair as she leaned forward crooning to her audience. Then she was down, tossed the chair aside and her long hair swished back and forth as she stalked from one end of the stage to the other, waving at her fans.

She dropped to her knees as the song told of some man who had done her terribly wrong.  She screamed with rhythmic joy when a new love came into her life.  She was beyond good, she was miraculous!  She had rhythm and a voice like none he'd ever heard.

Every man there remembered Melody from previous visits.  But the woman who was up there singing now wasn't the same Melody they remembered.  This woman was a super sex goddess - with a voice.  They knew she was a good hostess and devoted wife, but their reaction to her performance blinded them to this knowledge.  These men now were anything but benign, Jonathan noted with rising concern for her safety.

As she finished the song Mary reached him from somewhere in the crowd.

“She's really something, isn't she?” Mary asked him.

       “I'll say!  She
is
fantastic, isn't she?  Mary, did you know about this?  Has Mel ever done any professional performances before?”  Jonathan kept yelling questions to Mary, but wouldn't give her time to yell back the answers.

“Yes, yes, and no!” Mary finally got out between being crushed by the people.

Jonathan saw that things were getting a little out of hand.  He looked around for the body guards, finding one he motioned for him to get help to keep the foot of the stage clear.  One came over to him and Jon said for them to clear a path for Mary so she could get closer and to stay with her.  He forced his own way to the front, elbowing a few men in the process.

Elizabeth
was playing her instrument and acted as a background singer of extraordinary talent.  Jonathan was wowed.

Melody's song ended, then she immediately took off with a slow number.  He couldn't take his eyes off her.  That was his wife, the mother who had nursed David their son, his lover, his very heart, yet seeing her perform she had somehow transcended herself into another equally much desired persona.

She could make her voice sound low and whispery with a breathless quality.  It was very seductive, enough so, it made his blood tingle.  She could change to an innocent little girl, that made you want to hold and protect her.  Lastly, she could break or mend your heart with the pain or joy she sang about.  She mesmerized the guests.  She held them all in the palm of her hands.

He watched with fascinated joy as she pranced across the stage with a fast uplifting tune.  David joined her and the combined voices were perfect complements to each other.  They sang in harmony with one another.  David would get deep and guttural when her voice turned sweet and tender.  Then they would reverse with his being tenor and her's became some throaty blues singer's voice from ‘Norleans.  He heard a little Janice Joplin, then Maria Carey and Celine Dion all rolled into one as his wife thrilled the crowd, as well as her husband with her unusually gifted talents.

Sweat was pouring off both of them as they sang the people into a complete frenzy.  Jonathan didn't believe his ears when Melody said to the audience that Jonathan Jontu was to join her with the next song.

“What!  We have never sung together!” Jonathan kept telling everyone as they pushed him up on the stage anyway.

“This song is for him!” Melody yelled as she grabbed his hand and David started playing some slow hip grinding cords, the kind he loved to play so much.

Jon stood there while Mel sang a very beautiful but lusty song to him.  She sang about the fact that he was sent from up above, a double meaning.  She'd look into his eyes and he'd forget where he was.  He'd reach out for her, then the crowd would get louder and bring him back.  He had gotten the rhythm of the song and she was surprised when he impulsively grabbed her, which thrilled the audience.  Dancing tightly against her, he sang the song back to her perfectly, substituting he for she.
