“Jon, we've looked at the disks . . .” Mark started to say, “a thousand times,” but David stopped him.
“Perhaps Dad can find something that we missed,” David stated, putting his hands on Jon's shoulders. He bent over Jon's sitting form and said, “Dad it seems logical that if we don't get a ransom note that at least she's safe with this person. He went to an awful lot of trouble and expense to get to her, the police believe that he may even had suffered surgery to make himself look more like you just to please her.”
“In other words, if they didn't get her for the money, then she's in the hands of a raving lunatic!” Jonathan snapped back.
No one wanted to tell him that because it was Mel that was taken and not one of the others, that the likelihood of it being a deranged or obsessive fan was what seemed most likely. They only hoped and prayed that he would be kind to her. The thought of her being physically or mentally abused was too much for any of them to endure.

As the days and weeks, then finally months slowly crept by, Jonathan was having to be sedated far too frequently to be healthy for much longer, David realized. He worried about his father constantly, feeling that father-son bond strengthening now that Jonathan was in such mental and emotional agony. His dad had gone to pieces when Melody disappeared.
Their scans and searches were proving fruitless, but they kept at it, night and day. The police had no leads. They had security footage of a man who looked exactly like Jonathan except for having a three day beard growth. They were right, it did add to the cowboy persona.
Jonathan’s parents were upset for their son too. They worried over his sanity and were trying to convince David to bring his father home to their planet.
David knew that would destroy his dad, it would make him lose all hope. And hope was holding his dad together for the time being. His grandparents couldn’t understand, so he kept putting them off and was eventually forced to cut down their interactions with his dad.
The entire household was a sad place to be.
Zane, David’s son was grown and married now himself. Melody would be thrilled to discover she was going to be a great-grandmother before she was twenty-two. The world wouldn’t believe it but their family was celebrating with David and Zane, quietly.

CHAPTER 7 * *
LOVE REFRESHED
Melody was surprised when the security guards unexpectantly turned away from the bus and headed her toward a limo. She was just about to become frightened but then Jonathan J came running toward her. With a wide grin on his handsome grizzled face he explained, “Sweetheart, I thought it best that we change things since that threatening call earlier today. Hop in!”
One guard held the door open while the other two climbed into the seat behind the driver. Jonathan J and Melody took the rear, wider, couch lounge area of the limo. Their door was shut and the guard went forward to sit with the other two security men riding with them.
“How’d you get your beard to grow so fast, Jon. You were clean shaven this morning?” she asked with a genuine puzzled look.
“Oh, I still have a few powers you don’t know about, my love,” he answered while he whipped out his electric razor and was about to shave.
“Wait!” she yelled. “I haven’t kissed me a grizzled Jon before.”
With her seductive look enticing him he readily gave her his lopsided, sexy grin and pulled her over almost on top of him.
“Jon . . . . Behave yourself!” she hissed then added a giggle in a low voice. “We’re not alone – yet,” she warned as he proceeded to show her what a grizzled Jonathan J kiss was like.
“Wow!” she exclaimed, feeling more than a little dizzy.
That’s odd,
she thought.
It’s like my first kiss again with him.
“Woweee, star man, do that one again,” she purred. “You make my head spend!”
At the end of the second kiss, she suddenly took off his dark sunglasses before he stop her. “Now let me look at your pretty eyes,” she murmured with a grin.
They were a deep, deep violet. Before she had time to try and get his libido calmed back down he’d pressed a button that darkened all the windows in their area of the limo and sealed them off from the driver and other passengers. His breathing was ragged and his eyes were grazing all over her body. She also quickly noticed that his hands had a slight tremor to them.
Giving him her most seductive smile she teased, “If I didn’t know better, Jonny, I’d think this is what you wanted to do the first time you got me inside this limo, that day at the university.”
His response was to moan pathetically as he began quickly unbuttoning her top and crawling over on top of her as she undid her skirt as fast as she could.
“My love, I can’t wait any longer, I’m sorry,” he whispered to her huskily as he proceeded to possess the woman he had been Bonding with for the past four years, but had been unable to touch – until now.
He had been watching her from the first day his - until that moment - previously unknown identical twin had met her.
Jonathan J’s sanity demanded this time of Bonding with her. How he had endured this long, staying alive and relatively sane, still had this grandfather’s scientists baffled. His torture was coming to an end. It was now his turn!
Melody only knew she was making love with her beloved husband. “My goodness . . . you are surely acting the part of the love starved cowboy, aren’t you?” Melody said between her own moans of heightened pleasure at what he was doing to her.
They climbed their mountain of sensuous joy together and united until Melody thought her head would pop clean off her body for the sheer power of the glorious moment. They traveled to paradise together, watching fiery volcanoes erupt just for their pleasure. At least that was what Melody imagined as she raveled in the intensity of their mutual bonding of heart, soul and bodies.
Jonathan J held her tightly against his quaking body. He kept telling her over and over how much he loved her and how much he enjoyed making love to her, how she was now and always would be his wife, his woman, his heart and soul and his love - always.
Jonathan J’s Bonding had now been completed. He was joined body, soul, spirit and mind with the woman he fell in love with from the instant he was shown a video of her walking across the University campus.
He’d longed, hungered, starved, panted and nearly went completely mad needing Melody for over four years now. It had been the darkest and most tortuous hell he knew anyone could possibly imagine.
Now she was his and no way would he ever, ever let her go! He would die if he lost her now. Just as the identical twin brother he discovered he had, might be dying. He felt sorry for Jonathan, but it was life or death and he had already almost died, so their royal grandfather, who was ruler of H’trae, had finally set up the situation so he could Bond with his lady love and finally live again.
The videos he’d been forced to view of her with his brother had almost torn his soul from his body. But, he’d endured, for that was the only way they ended up letting him see her.
“My love,” he crooned as he stroked a strand of her damp hair away from her glazed over eyes. “I wanted to surprise you. Remember how much we enjoyed Disney World last year?”
He waited for her to nod.
That had been tremendous fun Melody readily agreed with a smile.
He continued, “Well, I planned us a new surprise. We’re going on a vacation, a second honeymoon, this time on our own island, away from the crowds and even family. Just you and me and the house staff.”
Melody frowned. “What about David and Beth and Mark and Mary?”
Jonathan pulled her up to a sitting position and tugged her onto his lap. With a look of sadness he shocked her to her soul with his next words.
“Mel, I was hoping to spare you, but I guess it was too much to hope for. We’ve been discovered. Several governments, including this one, have located our two remaining ships. They realize that the Jontue’s and the Zanlea’s are alien humanoids.”
Melody gasped and her eyes went wide. “Oh, Jon, what will they do to us? Oh, no, oh my goodness!” she exclaimed in shocked fear. “This can’t be happening, not now! Don’t they know that your people mean them no harm and have actually brought wonderful things to this world? What about all the blindness and deafness that you’ve cured yourself? That alone should show them you are an asset and not a liability. Are they crazy?”
She whipped out her cell phone and was about to punch in David’s number when Jonathan J grabbed it, lowered the window between them and the front of the car and tossed it through.
Sputtering in anger she squawked, “Jon, just what do you think you’re doing? Give me back my phone!”
He grabbed her hands and held them as he looked into her eyes and said, “They can use it to track us, my love. In my heat of seeing just how beautiful you are tonight I had forgotten to ask you for it.” Nodding toward the front of the limo he added, “They’ll have to destroy the chip. I have an untraceable one now and we’ll have to get you one too real soon.”
Her face was still filled with fear and questions yet unasked. Jonathan J plowed onward with his plan.
“Sweetheart, everyone, all of us, have been forced to go underground. We cannot have communication with one another for the next six months or even longer. They don’t have a history of being any to gentle to the few aliens they have had contact with in the past. I don’t want any harm coming to our friends or family because we couldn’t stay away from them for a while, do you?”
“No, of course not Jon. This is all so terrible! When did you find out?” she asked while needing him to hold her tighter and give her some of his warmth, for now she was trembling with fear and cold.
He lifted a seat and pulled out a blanket from the storage box beneath. Wrapping it around his beloved he cuddled her, hating to be forced to bring her all this fear and discomfort.
Melody looked into Jonathan J’s watery eyes and asked, “What are we to do? And when did you find out?”
“During the concert our security team gave me the awful news. Mark, David and I had to make hurried plans and set the wheels in motion for our escape, before the government could discover we knew. Each of them has their own secret destination to go to. My grandfather was notified and started the escape routes and prepared a place for each of us to go, but we can’t know where the others are, for their sake and our own. At least until things cool down or our Ruler has made negotiations with various nations for us to remain unharmed.”
Hope flared in Melody’s eyes. “So he’s trying to work out a solution? We might be able to remain here on Earth and not be forced to leave?”
The thought of leaving her home planet was inconceivable to her. They’d already had this talk, back before most of his people had left and returned to their homes. No way did she want to leave Earth, but if that was the only way to keep her man safe, then she would.
“My heart, you needn’t worry. I know you don’t want to leave here. Frankly neither do I. This is my home now.
You
are my home. I’ll work out something, don’t worry. Just, in the mean time, we have to be secreted away to a place they won’t look for us. There’s a small island in the tropics that we’re heading to as soon as we get on the private aircraft that will fly us there in a few minutes. It’ll be our new home for the next six months or more.”
Mel looked worried. “What if it’s a trashy place?”
“You’ll like it, my love. I’ve already seen pictures of it. Apparently Grandfather had it prepared when we first began to become famous. His forethought may have saved us all. I should have thought about it myself. Instead, I’ve only have my mind on research and on you. He has a nice place prepared, stocked and staffed for each of us. The only problem is not being able to communicate and we have to disguise ourselves until we get there and any time we are outside.”
The minute he stopped talking and Melody was hugging him for comfort there was a tap on the door window. Neither had realized that the limo had stopped.
Jonathan J pressed a button that clarified the glass windows. His security men were standing outside and they were inside an airport hanger. He nodded at them and turned to Melody.
Reaching inside a bag that was sitting on a bench seat he pulled out a blond wig for Mel and a short crew-cut blond style wig for himself. He pulled on a black tee shirt and he matched the security detail clothing style. Sliding off his boots he pulled on deck shoes. Handing a wraparound dress to Mel, she secured it before removing her long black skirt. He quickly gave her a pair of sandals to replace her boots, then handed her a large floppy sun bonnet to put on.
As Jonathan J helped Melody out of the limo he looked just like her “matching” blond-headed black dressed security detail, escorting this blond actress or model to her private jet. Another grabbed the shopping bags inside that were filled with their old clothing and carried it onto the plane.
Everything went smoothly, no hitches that they could tell. No one seemed to take notice. The tower cleared them for take off and away they went.
Melody slept for several hours. She was too upset to eat more than a few nibbles of celery filled with peanut butter with cranraisins sprinkled on top (her favorite snack). Then she slept some more.
Jonathan J worried that she was overly upset and feared how it might change her.
When Melody awakened she was like a new person, sad about being removed from her family and friends, but happy that Jonathan J was safe this way and so were the others. She just hoped that their Ruler would be able to resolve this bad situation faster rather than slower. She knew governments could be more than difficult and sneaky as sin, but she held hope in her heart that all would be rectified before too much time had passed. Her husband had done so much for her people and that didn’t even begin to tell what her son and Beth had accomplished for the whole world. They should be celebrated not being forced to hide like criminals. She even stated that fact to Jonathan more than once, in her irritation.
