About the Author

June Hunt is an author, singer, speaker, and founder of Hope for the Heart, a worldwide biblical counseling ministry featuring the award-winning radio broadcast by the same name heard daily across America. In addition,
Hope in the Night
is June’s live two-hour call-in counseling program that helps people untie their tangled problems with
biblical hope and practical help
. Hope for the Heart radio broadcasts currently air in more than 25 countries.

Early family pain was the catalyst that shaped June’s compassionate heart. Later, as youth director for more than 600 teenagers, she became aware of the need for sound biblical counseling. Her work with young people and their parents led June to a life commitment of providing
God’s Truth for Today’s Problems
.

After years of teaching and research, June began developing scripturally based counseling tools called
Biblical Counseling Keys
, which address definitions, characteristics, causes, and solutions for 100 topics (such as marriage and parenting, anger and abuse, guilt and grief). Recently these individual topics were compiled to create the landmark
Biblical Counseling Library
.

The
Counseling Keys
have become the foundation for the Hope Biblical Counseling Institute initiated by The Criswell College. Each monthly conference in the Dallas-based institute provides training to help spiritual leaders, counselors, and other caring Christians meet the very real needs of others.

June has served as a guest professor at colleges and seminaries, both nationally and internationally, teaching on topics such as crisis counseling, child abuse, wife abuse, homosexuality, forgiveness, singleness, and self-worth. Her works are currently available in 60 countries and more than 20 languages, including Russian, Romanian, Ukrainian, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Mandarin, Korean, Japanese, and Arabic.

She is the author of
How to Forgive…When You Don’t Feel Like It, How to Handle Your Emotions, Seeing Yourself Through God’s Eyes
,
Caring for a Loved One with Cancer
, and more than 40 topical HopeBooks. June is also a contributor to the
Soul Care Bible
and the
Women’s Devotional Bible
.

As an accomplished musician, June has been a guest on numerous national television and radio programs, including the NBC
Today
show. She has toured overseas with the USO and been a guest soloist at Billy Graham crusades. Five recordings—
Songs of Surrender
,
Hymns of Hope
,
The Whisper of My Heart, The Shelter Under His Wings
, and
The Hope of Christmas
—all reflect her heart of hope.

HOW TO FORGIVE…WHEN YOU DON’T FEEL LIKE IT

When someone hurts us, our natural response is to strike back. Rather than forgive, we want to return the pain and suffering. Rather than let go, we cling to our rocks of resentment, our boulders of bitterness. The result? We struggle under the weight of our grievances—all because we find it too hard to forgive.

Though we know God has called us to forgive, we find ourselves asking hard questions:

• What if it hurts too much to forgive?

• What if the other person isn’t sorry?

• How can I let someone off the hook for doing something
so wrong
?

Biblical counselor June Hunt has been there herself, enabling her to speak from experience as she offers biblical help and hope with heartfelt compassion. If you’ve been pinned down under a landslide of pain, here’s how to find true freedom through forgiveness.

KEEPING YOUR COOL…WHEN YOUR ANGER IS HOT!

Practical Steps for Tempering Your Fiery Emotions

The fiery emotion of anger often causes us to say and do things we later regret. And try as we might, it’s an emotion that’s tough to control. How can we prevail?

Popular biblical counselor June Hunt, heard on the international
Hope for the Heart
broadcast, helps you carefully explore the various causes and kinds of anger and the Bible’s steps toward resolution. She gives you biblical and compassionate guidance on…

• how to identify the triggers of anger

• ways of dealing with past angers buried deep in the heart

• what the Bible says about righteous and unrighteous anger

• how to bring about real and lasting change

June’s rare combination of forthrightness and gentleness will help bring you to a place of surrendering your anger to God and enjoying a greater appreciation of forgiveness and peace.

HOW TO HANDLE YOUR EMOTIONS

Anger, Depression, Fear, Grief, Rejection, Self-Worth

God created our hearts to be like a dashboard filled with dials—finely tuned controls to help process our full range of emotions in a healthy way. Yet at times our hearts operate as if controlled by a single on-off switch that leads us to shut down when we fear our feelings will overrun our lives.

Biblical counselor June Hunt helps you to better navigate your emotions as you come to understand their definitions, characteristics, and causes, as well as the solutions that lead to emotional growth. By feeling your emotions and dealing with your pain, you will find healing for

• anger

• depression

• fear

• grief

• rejection

• damaged self-worth

Discover how you can harness the power of your emotions and allow God to make you into the person he created you to be.

SEEING YOURSELF THROUGH GOD’S EYES

A 31-Day Devotional Guide

Do you see yourself the same way God sees you?

How you view yourself can have a profound effect on your everyday living. Sometimes negative people or circumstances can leave you feeling down about yourself. Or an inflated perception of yourself can interfere with the work God wants to do in and through you.

The key to healthy Christian living is to see yourself through God’s eyes. After all, if you don’t know who you are, you can’t know God’s plan and purpose for your life.

How well do you know your true identity as a child of Christ? You are worth
so
much to God that He
died
for you! Discover the great riches of your identity in the 31 devotions in this book, and experience the exciting transformation that comes from seeing yourself through God’s eyes.
