For a client who is desperately seeking a husband, your session can help remove obstacles to being in a healthy love relationship. But she might still need to place that personals ad.

What if your client already has a husband and he’s the problem? He could be abusive or take drugs. Make it clear that no amount of cord cutting from you will change that.

Cutting the cord between an abused partner and mate can give her more freedom to decide what to do about the relationship. This could help her inwardly. Still, if she’s in danger, recommend that she protect herself physically.

Finally, there’s the ever-popular desire to lose weight. Alas, there is no cord of attachment to the extra 50 pounds. Regardless of your skill as a spiritual healer, there will be no cries of “I’m melllllting” followed by a puddle of discarded grease on the floor. Sure, your session may help with weight issues, but these can involve complex problems and, frankly, other methods might prove more successful.

In short, clarify what you can and can’t do toward fulfilling a client’s intention. Give referrals, as appropriate. Then, ask your client the pertinent follow-up questions, like “If you did lose the weight, what would be different in your life?” Ta da! Your client just might find a workable intention.

Avoid the Cosmic Excuse

Wherever in the world I offer sessions of Rosetree Energy Spirituality, some new clients bring intentions like this:

“What am I supposed to do? Tell me the purpose of my life.”

Of course, it’s natural to be curious. Which spiritual seeker wouldn’t like all of life’s mysteries to be solved right now? Then he could get on with the other pursuits that are so much more interesting, like ice-fishing.

Seriously, why do I consider it a problem when a client expects his session to deliver The Big Answer?

Personally, I see a red flag go up because I have never advertised myself as someone who supplies these answers. No matter who sponsors me, no matter how many interviews I give or which article appears on the Net, regardless of how often I blog, never ever (anywhere) do I ever claim to find anyone’s purpose in life.

So why would a client believe that such an answer is available from me? (Or from anyone, actually?)

Rosetree Energy Spirituality does not mean doing a psychic reading or an astrology reading, both of which could be wonderful. But let’s not confuse apples with oranges and mangoes.

If life were more like a quiz show, One Big Answer would solve all your client’s problems. You would explain your friend’s cosmic purpose and perhaps he might never have to think again.

Far as I can tell, though, spiritual evolution is more like a journey. It is accomplished through individually paced spurts of progress.

No matter how great your skill at cord cutting, you will never be able to cut a cord of attachment to The Cosmic Excuse. All you can do is initiate some commonsense conversation. Eventually, your client may appreciate that the moment of power in her life is the human here-and-now.

Requests to “Tell me what I’m supposed to do” happen often when folks are new to spiritual seeking. The question can return painfully while someone is in crisis, or has severe problems at work, if going through a divorce or suffering health problems, feeling bored or overwhelmed.

You get the idea. There can be innumerable reasons why someone asks you a Cosmic Question. But I have only one favorite question to ask in response: “What is happening in your life right now that makes it feel so urgent for you to figure out this ‘supposed-to’ business?”

Cutting cords of attachment, you need never accept the role of all-wise guru, instructing your client in how to live. My preference is to hand the power right back.

New spiritual seekers act a lot like teenagers. They start expressing their “individuality” by dressing and talking just like everyone else in their group. Yet, with encouragement, those seekers can learn to trust their own hearts and minds, becoming empowered as adults.

When this happens, watch them move from expressing clichés like “Tell me my purpose” to asking about more personal concerns.

Loving Mother Earth, learning from life, graceful surrender to cosmic forces—all of this can be beautiful, a sacred path. Each spiritual seeker has golden moments of knowing that all is right in the world. And if you were to read that seeker’s aura right then, you would find something glorious. However, when a client starts talking “Meant to be” and his aura shows blockage galore, that’s your cue to gently poke beyond The Cosmic Excuse.

TALE: Really Valuable Guidance?

Gail told the most astonishing story about why she came to my workshop. She had searched online to learn about becoming skilled as an empath. This led her to my website and then my book,
Empowered by Empathy.

Reading FAQs at my website, Gail found the information to be tremendously helpful. Yet she still didn’t know if studying with me was “Meant to be.”

Beaming, Gail recounted that days later she happened to browse in a bookstore that was sponsoring me to give a workshop in Massachusetts.
Empowered by Empathy
was on display.

“Because I saw your book right there, right where I could touch it, I knew that studying with you was meant to be,” she said triumphantly. “That’s why I signed up for your workshop.”

Why did I find this story so astonishing? Let’s play it back. Gail had found knowledge that spoke to her, knowledge that resonated deep within her soul. Self-authority told her that this work could make her life better. But what
really
excited her was that my book was physically close enough to touch?

Of course, Divine guidance will adjust to support a prayer or requests. As long as Gail requires it, she can always wait to receive obvious outward signs and flashy synchronicities. And thus she will inch her way forward.

But when Gail feels ready to grow by leaps and bounds, she won’t demand that her next teacher must travel hundreds of miles to her very doorstep. She won’t need to follow whatever fad is currently popular and, therefore, readily available at her local bookstore.

Interacting with all that the world has to offer, while trusting your own heart, mind, and soul—doesn’t that count as a valid source of guidance?

On that subject of guidance, in Step 2, you will connect with a kind of spiritual guidance that is indispensable for cutting cords of attachment. I love this method because it is effortless, simple, and foolproof. Use it as a supplement to your favorite method of connecting to Higher Intelligence.

Or, if you don’t already have a favorite method, you can start right here. Everyone spiritual seeker can benefit from learning techniques of Rosetree Energy Spirituality. To understand the process, first it’s important to understand basics about life force energy.

Life Force Energy

You may prefer to call it life force energy, chi or prana, or any of its other innumerable names.

For convenience, I refer to life force energy simply as
“energy.”
Whatever the name, human life depends on it (as does all life).

Technologies expressly designed to move energy may become the defining discoveries of the 21st century. Consider the array of energy healing methods available to us today.

Gary Craig and David Feinstein are pioneers of
Energy Psychology,
a holistic system of self-help that changes inner lives, healing psychological problems. Specifically, they use Emotional Freedom Technique (E.F.T.). Even though the full mind-body-spirit system becomes engaged,
the point of entry
is the mind part of mind-body-spirit.

Energy Psychology produces results by changing energy patterns within an aura. Besides E.F.T., other energy techniques with a psychological point of entry include EMDR, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Past-Life Regression Therapy, Holographic Repatterning, and Transformational Breathwork.

Energy Medicine
is another system of self-help that changes a person’s aura. This term was coined by Donna Eden, founder of Eden Energy Medicine.

Here the
point of entry
to the mind-body-spirit system is the physical body, with the main intention being to align physical health, correct imbalances, keep energy flowing.

Other Energy Medicine techniques with a physical point of entry include Reiki, Healing Touch, Pranic Healing, Bio-Energetics, Qigong, Tai Chi, and Homeopathy.

Energy Spirituality
uses the spirit, or aura, itself as a primary point of entry for healing the mind-body-spirit system. The particular system in this book, and the basis for all that you will read in these covers about energy spirituality, is the version I now call “Rosetree Energy Spirituality.” (That distinction is needed now because this field has grown exponentially since the publication of the first edition of this book. Some very different techniques for cord cutting are now offered in the field of energy spirituality.)

In this healing modality, the entry point of aura matters because an aura can contain blockages to spiritual clarity that will be left untouched by mind-body-spirit approaches with a different point of entry.

Cords of attachment are the most common, and important, kind of blockage to remove (although not the only type of STUFF removed by a professional in the field of Rosetree Energy Spirituality). Benefits of freeing up energy in this way can be enormous, as you will soon discover.

Whether about psychology, medicine, or spirituality, all energy healing methods are holistic. Whichever the point of entry, the rest of the mind-body-spirit system will benefit indirectly.

All these holistic technologies are accessible for self-healing to anyone who wishes to learn them.

Personally, I love that aspect. Most of us have neither the time nor the inclination to get extensive professional training simply to be able to work on ourselves. It’s hardly a casual hobby to earn a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology or to become a physician.

The 12 Steps to Cut Cords of Attachment take some time to properly absorb, but like any other quality technique for energy healing, the education is relatively brief and painless. It is also relatively inexpensive.

You learn at your own pace. You may choose to learn just enough to help yourself. Or you can move beyond self-care to helping others.

Regarding professionalism, it’s important to notice that Rosetree Energy Spirituality, Energy Psychology, and Energy Medicine are all taught at a beginner’s level in ways that can be a godsend for self-healing.

After you get started, you may want to share with people you are close to, one friendship at a time. Maybe you start doing exchanges, which adds skill and confidence.

I envision a world where many people choose a favorite form of mind-body-spirit healing for themselves and their loved ones. It’s like how people in families used to get together to play musical instruments, creating living room concerts for their own pleasure.

How about turning pro? When someone hangs out a shingle or advertises online, seeking clients for Energy Medicine or Rosetree Energy Spirituality or Energy Psychology, that implies earning credentials to do professional work. Absolutely, if that is your goal, begin as an amateur. Then decide if you wish to become a professional, in which case considerably more credentials will be required.

That is certainly the case with becoming a professional at Rosetree Energy Spirituality. Yet there is so much you can do on your own for self-healing and helping your friends, learning the techniques in this manual.

When it comes to consumer smarts, it’s vital to seek out professionals who have been trained fully. Question the source of a healer’s training. Talent is great, but talent but skill is required to do a quality job with cord cutting.

That Tricky Word “Spiritual”

Now that you have a context for understanding Rosetree Energy Spirituality, let’s clarify just how “spiritual” you must be to engage in this form of self-help. For starters, do you have to be religious?

Hardly!
Religion
requires structure. Worship, ritual, belief, and faith are other components. By contrast,
spirituality
aims for direct experience, connecting to something greater than oneself. (However any given spiritual experience is defined.)

Spiritual seekers may, or may not, follow an organized religion. They may prefer to participate in what I call “Disorganized religion.” Or none at all. However practiced, spirituality is more a path than a place. Someone travels or rests at will, choosing from all appealing beliefs, techniques, teachers, and more.

Thus, Rosetree Energy Spirituality doesn’t demand religious affiliation but can deepen it. To my knowledge, all forms of energy healing work this way. I remember interviewing Janet Mentgen, the founder of Healing Touch, after observing one of her classes. The group represented a wide (and wild) variety of belief systems, evidenced by different types of religious jewelry, even a turban or two.

When talking privately with Janet, it became clear that, personally, she was an extremely devout Christian. I asked if fights ever broke out among her students, since clearly some of them were strongly committed to very different beliefs. Janet laughed.

“Never. They come here for only one reason, to learn to heal.”

Well, it’s just the same with Rosetree Energy Spirituality. You don’t need to graduate from any particular divinity school any more than you would need professional licensing to do Energy Psychology or Energy Medicine. Bring to your healing journey all of the skills you have gained so far.

How do you access inner truth now? Do you request intuitive messages? Listen to your inner guidance or angels? Do you muscle test or use truth signals or contemplate? Excellent.

What if you haven’t found your way in yet? It will be my delight to coach you. Should you feel trepidation, here’s some perspective. The company I founded to teach my various techniques of Deeper Perception is called “Women’s Intuition Worldwide.” Well, I’ve stopped counting how many people who telephone here refer to this company as “Women’s Institution.”
