Agony cut deep lines in his face as he stared up at her. “I will not let stranger touch you. Is not stranger, is man I trust to pleasure you.”
“Will Luka be there?”
“No. Alex will be with you.”
“Your
brother
?” Her voice rose to an unpleasant screech on the last word. “Are you fucking kidding me? That is just so wrong on so many levels.”
“No, is not wrong. Is right.” His voice firmed and he gripped her hands again, ignoring her struggles. “He is only man I trust with you. The only one. He will do what needs done, but will not go further.”
“And who are you going to fuck? What whore do I have to watch kiss you, and touch you, and love you?”
“No. Never love. Rya, you are only woman who ever gave me love.” He brushed the tears from her face with a pained sound. “Ilyena, Alex’s submissive, will be with me.”
“I hate you,” she shouted and tried to smack his hands away. “Don’t touch me.”
“Rya, please…”
She kicked him away and stood, moving to the other side of the cabin. “No, I don’t want to hear a fucking word out of your mouth, Dimitri. Just stay the hell away from me. I can’t believe you’re asking me to do this.”
“
Zaika moya
, I would spare you this if I could. Please believe me. You knew dangers of being with me. I am trying to protect you only way I can.”
“By fucking someone else and making me watch? No, not just making me watch, making me watch while pretending we have nothing
and
screwing your brother.” She gave a bitter laugh and moved as far away from him in the cabin as possible. “Well, that will be easier than I thought, because right now I loathe you.”
His expression tensed and he stood. “Do not say that.”
“Fuck you, Dimitri. I can’t even look at you without picturing you fucking someone else and it makes me sick. I thought…well, it doesn’t matter what I thought. Leave me alone.” Her voice broke on the last words and she took a deep breath, trying to hide her tears.
He nodded and moved to the back of the plane, sitting in his chair and watching her with that cold mask of his in place. She stumbled to the chair as far away from him as possible and turned it around so she didn’t have to look at him. Covering her mouth, she tried to muffle her sobs. She knew leaving him would hurt, but she thought they would be able to do it on different terms than this. As foolish and illogical as it was, she was falling in love with Dimitri and the thought of watching the man she loved with another woman was torture.
Memories of him kissing and being pawed at by those three submissives raced through her head. She curled into a ball of misery, wishing she was home and had never met Dimitri, and most of all, wishing she could really hate him like she said.
They rode back to the lodge in separate cars. Tusya and Katya met her at the entrance to the lodge. Dusk had fallen and the lights of the mansion burned behind them. Tusya looked handsome as ever with his carefully styled blond hair and superb bone structure, but she felt nothing for him as he helped her from the SUV. Katya gave her a hug and a brief kiss as Rya watched Tusya speak in Russian to the men with her luggage.
He came back over to her side and swept her up into his arms, burying his face against her neck as he said, “Act happy to see me. You will be coming to my room. Your room has been bugged.”
For a moment she just froze, then she wrapped her arms around his neck and whispered back, “What the hell is going on?”
“Inside, I will explain. Now, look happy to see us.”
He let her slide down his body and she was pretty sure his hard cock was happy to see her, but she managed to plaster on a smile as she gave him a brief kiss. Because she didn’t want any man touching her right now, she laced her fingers with Katya and held her hand before giving her a much warmer kiss than the one she bestowed on Tusya. Today Katya wore a pair of dark jeans that fit her perfectly with a soft mint green silk blouse. Though she gave Rya a bright smile, she couldn’t hide the worry in her eyes.
They took Rya through the lodge, but before they could reach the wing of the lodge where Tusya had his room, a tall man with dark hair and thick lips stepped into their path. He wore a pair of tan pants with a white dress shirt, but everything about him screamed thug. Rya gave him a quick glance before turning back to Tusya. She was shocked to see the quiet, gentle Russian Master she knew had disappeared, replaced by a cold, menacing man as he glared with open malice at the man blocking their path.
The dark haired man stared at Rya until Tusya stepped in front of her, slightly to the side. “My submissive is not available to you, Borya.”
Rya caught a glimpse of the man’s hands as he gestured in her direction. He had some kind of odd tattoos across his knuckles and where his shirt pulled up she could see more tattoos. There was even one on his neck of a dagger going through his flesh. Despite the nice clothes, his demeanor screamed thug. Borya had dark brown eyes, and when they locked on her she felt like he could see into her soul.
The man said something in Russian and Tusya replied. They argued for a few minutes, and whatever they were saying was scaring Katya. Her hand trembled in Rya’s grasp and she pulled the girl into her embrace, giving Katya a kiss on the cheek while trying to soothe her. The men abruptly stopped arguing and watched her with Katya. For a moment Borya examined her and she couldn’t help glaring back at him. Borya shrugged and moved out of the way after a few more words with Tusya.
Snapping his fingers at them, Tusya led the women into his room. Once the door was shut he began to say something in Russian that didn’t sound complimentary. Her bags were delivered a moment later. Once they were alone again in Tusya’s sumptuous gold and green suite on the second floor of the lodge she let go of Katya’s hand and moved to Tusya.
“What the hell is going on?”
He ran his hand through his hair, but Katya came to his side and wrapped her arms around him, laying her head against his chest, obviously comforting the man.
Blowing out a harsh breath, Tusya hugged the small woman back and looked at Rya. “It would have been better if you stayed with me.”
Of that she had no doubt, but she wasn’t sure why he thought that. “Tusya, who bugged my room? How do you know it’s bugged?”
“Do you know what the
Bratva
is?”
“Yes. And before you ask, I did an internet search on Dimitri so I know about his family.”
“You know he is a powerful man in the Novikov Bratva, yes?”
“I do. Who was that guy who stopped us in the hallway? Is he in the Bratva?”
“Yes. A rival family to the Novikov. Borya is high rank. One phone call and it would bring you big trouble.” He took a seat in one of the gold velvet chairs near the fireplace. “Sit. Katya, please get coffee for us.”
After giving both Rya and Tusya a worried look, she left.
Tusya turned to her, his deep blue gaze intent on her. “You are in danger. That man, Borya, is an enforcer for another Bratva, a bad one where they have no respect for women.”
“Wait, why is Dimitri traveling with an enemy? If they are rivals, why are they both here?”
“Is political, like everything else. Important, powerful men and women are part of the European delegation. There is much…bonding that goes on during BDSM play and Dimitri would be a fool to allow the other Bratvas an advantage like this trip without him being here to solidify his own allegiances.”
“This is so fucked up.”
Tusya gave a hard laugh. “Welcome to my world.”
Fear skated down her spine and she clenched her hands together in her lap. “That Borya guy, is he…is he going to try to hurt me?”
“We do not think so, but he is curious. You disappeared with Dimitri. He wants to know who you are and why Dimitri took you. It is out of character for Dimitri to do anything without his brother and Borya has been keeping tabs on your lover.”
“He’s not my lover anymore,” she said in a tight voice.
“He never was. Dimitri does not do love, Rya.” His voice softened and he sat back in his chair, crossing his leg. “He only has whores he uses.”
“I know.” His callous words made her inexplicably defend Dimitri, but she was still angry with him. “What do you have to do with all of this? Whose side are you on?”
“I am merely trying to help you.”
That might be true, but he was obviously holding a lot more back. “Bullshit. Why would you help me? Why are you really doing this? Don’t lie to me, Tusya. We both know I can read you.”
He glared at her. “You do not trust me.”
“I don’t trust anyone.”
Her voice thickened on the last word and Tusya watched her with a considering expression. “You really like Dimitri, don’t you?”
“No.”
His smile was chiding. “Do not lie to me, Rya. You wear your heart on your sleeve. No wonder Dimitri is so worried. He actually asked for my help. Do you know how unusual that is? He will owe me a favor.”
“What?”
“Borya will not suspect me of being an ally of the Novikov family. I am Russian royalty and do not mix with the likes of the Bratva. It would sully my family name and there is no love lost between myself and Dimitri.”
She chewed on her lower lip, trying to figure out what was going on. “So I’m supposed to pretend that I’m your submissive?”
“Unfortunately, no. Dimitri has threatened to destroy me if I fuck you.” Tusya slowly shook his head. “If I did not know it was impossible I would say he cares for you.”
The words made tears gather in her eyes, but she tried to pretend they didn’t affect her. “Well, you’re wrong.”
Shaking his head again, Tusya stood and walked over to her chair before kneeling before it. “You know he cannot love you? You know every moment you are with him you will be in danger?”
“I know about the Novikov Curse,” she said through stiff lips, not liking how close he was and inching away.
He placed a hand on her leg and she smacked it away. Instead of being angry he appeared genuinely sad. “I had hoped that maybe you would be able to play with Katya and I, but Dimitri was once again right. You will not suffer my touch.”
“I’m sorry, Tusya, but I just don’t feel that way towards you. In the brief time I’ve known you I feel like we could be friends, but that spark isn’t there.”
“For you, it isn’t,” he said in a soft voice. “You are the only one to ever guess my needs.”
It took her a moment to realize he was talking about his desire to submit. “Did you talk to Angelique?”
“I did and it was very…enlightening, but unfortunately does not solve my problem.”
“Why don’t you find a Mistress to play with in private? I know tons of switches. Hell, I’m one and there’s nothing wrong with it.”
He shook his head. “That is not how it works in my world. While yes, there are submissive men, my culture is very masculine. A man is expected to be a man at all times. My family tolerates my kink because it is a powerful thing to be a Master. But if I wore the collar…no, it would not end well.”
Pulled out of her own worries for a moment she brushed his hair back from his forehead. “Maybe you could find another switch, a woman who will be your Mistress in private and your sub in public?”
Shrugging, he stood again. “Maybe. But right now we must worry about keeping you alive.”
There was an elaborate knock on the door, and when Tusya opened it, a large, intimidating man with dark hair flecked with silver at the temples, a perfect goatee that framed a nice mouth and wearing a perfectly tailored black suit entered carrying a tray of coffee. Something about him was familiar and she looked closer at his face. He had a jagged scar going down one cheek to his jaw, and as she examined his face, she saw traces of Dimitri there. Then her gaze lifted to the same gunmetal grey eyes and she knew right away this was Dimitri’s brother.
Well, it looked like being unfairly handsome ran in the family.
Tusya took the tray and set it down before closing the door. The two men conversed in Russia while Rya stared at him, but they ignored her. After a few minutes of conversation Tusya nodded and turned to Rya. “This is Alexandr Novikov. He wishes to speak with you.”
“I know who that asshole is.” Glaring at Alex, she stood and crossed her arms. “You can turn around and get the fuck out right now. There is no way on earth I’m letting you touch me.”
Tusya stared at her like she’d lost her mind, but Alex merely lifted one brow in a cool expression of amusement that made her grit her teeth. He said something to Tusya in Russian and he left with Katya, closing the door, trapping her with Alex. Panic filled her and she slowly backed up when he walked towards her. Even in a suit the man radiated menace. It gave her chills to see just how cold his gaze was.
“Stay away from me.”
He stopped advancing on her and nodded. “Please, have some coffee.”
“Fuck you. It’s probably drugged.”
His lips twitched, but he merely shrugged and went about making his own cup. “If I wanted to drug you I wouldn’t have to do it with food and drink. I could merely shoot you with a dart the moment I walked into the room.”
The casual way he said that frightened her; she wished she had a gun right now. “You need to leave.”
Bringing the coffee cup to his lips, he took a sip and sighed. “I will not hurt you, Rya. Please. Let us talk. Sit.”
She’d backed up to the window and jumped slightly at the sensation of the cool glass against the back of her arms. “I have nothing to say to you.”
“Fine, then you will listen.” He sat with an elegant grace and stared at her. It was disconcerting to see someone who looked so much like Dimitri watching her. The same dominant vibes rolled off of him as his brother, but where Dimitri watched her with heat, Alex’s gaze was icy. “My brother loves you and he is terrified that you will be hurt.”
“Bullshit.”
“Dimitri says you are good at reading lies. Am I lying, Rya?”
She bit her lower lip and studied him. “I…no, I don’t think so.”
“So, we know that Dimitri loves you. I admit, I’m baffled by how quickly he fell for you, but that seems to be how it works for the men in my family.” Deep, crushing pain filled his face for a moment before it vanished like snow melting on a warm day. “He tried to protect you the best he could, but your activities drew the interest of the spies we have traveling with us in the European Delegation and now we must do damage control.”
