“We play in Vegas Thursday then it’s onto Mexico City for two nights. Just three weeks in total.” Her mouth fell open. “Babe it will fly, I’ll be back before you know I’m gone. Besides you’ll be busy with the gallery and Jaime.” He kissed her cheek. Life was returning to normal for him again!

Chapter Thirty

Sam had found a fantastic little place close to the Marina and the rent was ideal. She had told Jay about it and he was delighted when she told him, she could begin renovating it straight away.

She had contacted Damon and he was sending her a crate of about thirty paintings and she hoped to start a show of his work by the end of July, it was now early June. Sam felt sure that with the contacts she had picked up from Jay, she would be ready in time. Jay was on tour and she missed him terribly. He called her every evening just before the show but it wasn’t the same as having him here. Sam knew he was missing them too but he lived for the shows. And she wasn’t going to complain about it because she felt deep down she had no right to. He would be home in a few weeks and Sam was looking forward to that.

She looked at her watch, it was almost six and she had better be getting back home. Sam had planned to spend the evening with Jaime, it was Juanita’s evening off. She looked forward to the times when it was just her and Jaime. She was getting so big and stronger by the day. She was also getting more and more like Jay. Her personality was so like his and when he called, Sam put the phone to her ear to let her hear his voice. Jamie would kick her feet with delight and shriek with joy. Jay adored her. He was a great father when he was there; unfortunately it wasn’t very often lately, because of the tour.

Sam had been in LA for two months and had only spent two weeks of that with Jay. She picked up her car keys and locked the door of the gallery. As she walked along the boardwalk, her phone rang.

“Hello.” She was hoping it was Jay.

“Hello Sam,” it was Lisa. She sounded so near.

“Hey kid, how are you?” There was a pause. Then she said excitedly.

“I’m in Miami, with the guys.” Sam felt a pang of jealousy. She wanted to be with Jay but couldn’t. “I have wonderful news. Will tell you when the tour is over. Jay was on fire last night. All the girls loved him.” She laughed. “Four girls were waiting at his hotel room for him afterwards.” Sam took the phone from her ear and took a deep breath. The thoughts of four girls waiting for him made her jealous. Sam was still painfully aware of Jay’s reputation. Even though they were living together and had a child. Sam knew that there was a possibility that he could be tempted by a younger woman in total awe of him.

“I bet he was flattered.” She tried desperately hard not to reveal her jealousy to Lisa. For some reason that she couldn’t figure on, their friendship had been very strained during Sam’s pregnancy and hadn’t fully recovered. In fact, since Sam and Jay got back together, she and Lisa seemed to drift further apart. She missed their closeness. There was a time when she could have confided in her that she was concerned about groupies hanging around.

“Ooh here he comes now, want to say hi?” Sam said she was in traffic and would talk to him later. She hung up. As she got into her car, she felt a tear roll down her cheek. Then wiping it away, she told herself she was only missing him. Deep down, she knew he wouldn’t do anything with the groupies. Sam was confident that Jay loved both of them and his family meant everything to him.

As she pulled up the drive to the beautiful home she shared with Jay, she felt better. Juanita told her that Jaime was sleeping and that she would be back by ten o clock.

Inside in the nursery Sam looked at her beautiful daughter sleeping soundly. She decided to change into her bathing suit and go for a quick swim.

She swam four lengths of the pool when the phone rang. Breathlessly she answered, as she expertly with one hand wrapped a towel around her waist.

“Darlin, did I interrupt you?” It was Jay. God he sounded so good. But the words Lisa used came rushing into her mind. Pushing them to the back of her head she smiled and said:

“Hey you, miss me?” He laughed. His laugh was so sexy.

“You know what I miss the most?” He teased. “The way you moan softly when you orgasm.” Sam blushed. He knew just how to embarrass her. And he loved it.

“Oh really! Is it only my moan or something else too?” She could hear him swear under his breath.

“Darlin, you are reducing the rock star to a jerk off.” She laughed. But Sam knew if he wanted sex, it was on tap, with all the girls that were hanging out there. Sensing her mood change, he said softly. “Sam, it won’t be long until I’m home with you and Jaime. I miss you so much.” She was becoming emotional but she wouldn’t let him know this.

“How is the tour? The girls all loving you?” She teased, struggling to keep her voice steady. He laughed.

“Babe, we’re playing in Frisco next week, join me.” He pleaded. She told him she couldn’t leave Jaime and besides she was busy with the gallery and was waiting on the paintings from Damon.

They talked for a few more minutes, then said goodnight. She missed him terribly and wished she was with him.

In his dressing room, Jay was putting on a vest that had ‘Glam Metal’ emblazoned all over it. He was wearing heavy eyeliner and lipstick. His hair had grown a little longer. He glanced at the picture of Sam and Jaime. He smiled. Suddenly there was a knock on the door, he opened it and Lisa and Nick stepped in. She whistled and Jay looked at her in a disapproving way. Nick laughed and said:

“Man, I can’t wait for tonight to be over. I hate this damn place.” Jay laughed and picked up a handful of picks.

“Was talking to Sam earlier.” Lisa said. Jay shot her a glance. He didn’t trust her. “She’s the adoring wife waiting at home. Not complaining.” She laughed. Nick looked at her strangely.

“Well, you know Lisa, complaining all the time is a drag in a woman.” Jay said as he walked past both of them.

“Li, touring is hard on Jay, be more tactful.” Nick said as he kissed her cheek.

As they walked out onto the stage, there was a tumultuous roar from the twenty thousand or so people. Jay picked up his guitar and put it over his shoulder and began strumming the opening chords of their first hit from their new album. The crowd went wild. He stepped up to the microphone and shouted out to them:

“Are you all ready to rock?” The roar that came back was deafening. Jay laughed. “Come on, are you ready to Rock.” Steve joined in with the sexy strains of the bass guitar. Steve shouted into the microphone.

“Are you ready for Us Miami?”  Jay ran over to Steve and they started jamming, the crowd went into a frenzy of delight then Nick came on stage, grabbed the mic and said:

“Let’s get this party Jammin.” Shaking his head and looking at Jay he sang; “
Babe, when you look at my picture, and the thoughts of my hands all over your body, do you start feelin what real lovin could be like”
Jay  playing heavy on the strings, head banging with Steve. Sharing the mic they echoed “
What my lovin could be like.”
They were laughing as they repeated the words.

Jay ran to the other side of the stage and went straight into the riff, sending the crowd insane.

As he looked out into the sea of faces, he could make out some of the adoring looks he was receiving from the female fans close to the stage. He smiled down at a young redhead that was glancing up longingly at him. Getting down on his knees and almost in another world as he made love to the guitar, the girl threw her thong up on to the stage and it landed on his knee. He laughed as he finished up; he put it in his pocket and blew the girl a kiss.

Nick put the mic on the stand and said:

“How you all doin?” There was an electric response. “Gooood. Are you ready to show me what Miami can do?” Another roar from the fans and Nick went up to Pete on the drums and they counted the beats and launched into another song driving the audience crazy.

Jay and Steve were together at the front of the stage and two women caught their attention. They flirted with them outrageously. The dark haired woman smiled at Jay and seductively licked her lips as he winked at her. He jumped down the stage to the other end and played the guitar hard.

He was hot tonight and the fans loved it. He looked out at the thousands of eyes that were on him and went to the edge of the stage, Nick, Steve and Pete stopped singing and playing and looked at him as he entered into his amazing solo. Jay had been working on this piece for a while now and this was the first time that he had played it in public to his fans.

As the strings screeched out the chords, Jay looked up and there was complete silence as he made the guitar talk. As he reached the crescendo of the solo, the lights on the stage went out and the whole stadium was in darkness. Thirty seconds later the lights went back on and as Jay went over to Nick and Steve the crowd went berserk. He had thrilled them and they wanted more. His two band mates were clapping and Jay began playing on the guitar for an encore, thrilling the crowd with his skill and prowess. As he stepped back on the stage to stand in unison with Nick and Steve, they joined in with the opening line of their first hit record.

Two hours later they were still delighting the audience with their songs and energy. The show had been a combination of pulsating rock sounds and enigmatic power ballads. With three amazing solos from the drums, lead guitar and bass guitar.

As they bowed to the fans, they knew that their reign at the top was well and truly cemented.

In his dressing room, Jay dialed Sam’s number and waited for her to answer. Two rings later her soft voice was caressing his ear. He could hear the faint gurgles of Jaime in the background. He smiled to himself as Sam asked him how the concert went.

A knock on the door brought him back to the dressing room, he said goodnight to her and opened the door. Steve was standing there with his arm around the two redheads that were at the front of the stage. Jay smiled and said:

“What’s up dude?” Steve laughed and they high fived.

“We’re having a party and Jenna here,” he patted the arm of the redhead on his left. “Wanted the legendary GM Jay to come and join us.” The two of them laughed. Jay nodded and went into his dressing room to get his jacket. Down the hallway Jay knocked on Nick’s door.

“Hey man, we’re going to have a few beers come on.” He smiled and they all went out to the tour bus.

Jay had a coke with them and was talking to Nick, when Lisa came over. She possessively put her arm around him and said:

“Having a private party then Jay?” They all laughed. He winked at her and said:

“Want to give me and Nick a private dance then Li?” She glared at him but Nick laughed and said.

“Man you wouldn’t believe how good she is.” Lisa hit his arm.

“Want a threesome Lisa?” Jay asked jokingly. Nick looked at Jay and laughed.

“We’re going back to the hotel, see you tomorrow.” She shot him a dirty look as she left with Nick.

Pete and Steve were laughing and joking with the two girls from the show. Jay shook hands with both of them and said:
