“Not yet,” Corey said. He drew back and pressed his lips down on the center of Angelo’s shaft, then gently slid the tip of his finger inside him, massaging. Angelo clenched around his finger, then relaxed, letting out a satisfied sigh.

Trusting that Angelo would let him know if something didn’t feel good, he continued to lick up the length of his cock as he moved his finger in and out of him, applying more pressure. Angelo had gone quiet, but after a minute of Corey working him with his finger, he began to move his hips in time, breathing harder.

“You okay, baby?”

Angelo hissed a laugh, then propped up on his elbows, looking down at Corey. “I still want you inside me.”

Corey slid his finger out and rose up. He climbed up the bed and kissed Angelo. “Are you sure?”

“You taste like strawberries.” Angelo grinned.

“So do you.” Corey kissed him again, letting it linger.

Angelo’s fingers threaded through the hair on the back of his head. “Mmm,” he mumbled against Corey’s lips. “You gonna fuck me or what?”

Pulling back, Corey let out a hard breath. “I’m gonna try.”

Smiling, Angelo rested back against the pillows. “Try now.”

Corey shuffled back and tore open the condom. After rolling it onto himself, he coated it with lube, squeezing the bottle until his entire groin area was sticky with it.

“I’m pretty sure that’s enough,” Angelo said, smirking.

Corey laughed. “Just making sure.” He set the bottle aside and climbed onto Angelo, resting on his elbow. “Smartass.”

Angelo stroked his face. “I’m just teasing. I love how careful you’re being with me. I love you.”

Though he’d heard Angelo say the words earlier, they made his gut lurch pleasantly now. The words warmed him and excited him, emotion welling up from deep inside. “And I love the hell out of you, Angelo Nardovino.” He kissed him, pressing their chests together, holding the back of his neck. “Are you ready?”

Angelo nodded, his face flushed.

Corey shifted onto his elbow again, and holding Angelo’s gaze, rubbed the head of his cock against his opening.

“Keep looking at me,” Angelo said. “The whole time, okay? It turns me on.”

Corey nodded. “Okay. If you want to touch yourself, go ahead.”

Angelo reached down between them and took hold of his cock.

Corey applied a bit of pressure, just cresting the entrance, and Angelo gasped.

Pausing, Corey studied his eyes. “You all right?”

“It wasn’t a gasp of pain.” Angelo laughed. “Just such a turn on, having your cock down there.”

“Okay.” Corey smiled, making sure to keep staring into Angelo’s eyes. “You’re so fucking hot, Angelo,” he whispered, and breached his entrance, the head of his cock slipping inside.

Angelo blinked hard, then looked up at Corey and nodded. “Keep looking at me.”

Corey withdrew, then pushed back in, but didn’t go any deeper, using only the head. When Angelo didn’t protest, he did it again, and again, fucking him with just the head of his cock. The feel of hot, tight muscle around him made him wet, slickening the end of the condom inside. “Angelo,” he whispered. “You feel so fucking good.”

Angelo stroked his own cock, his chest rising and falling. “Give me more. I can take it.”

“Are you sure?”

Nodding, Angelo said, “I can feel your energy. It feels like you want to come. Turns me on.”

“I want to come inside you,” Corey said.

Angelo squeezed his eyes shut. “Fuck. Say it again while you give me more.”

Corey drew back, then pushed his cock in just a bit farther. “I want to come inside you, Angelo.” Without giving him a chance to recover, he pulled out and pushed back in, stopping halfway. “You okay?”

Angelo clenched around him. “I...I think so. Just stay there a minute.”

Corey nodded, then leaned down and kissed him languidly. Angelo’s mouth softened and he wrapped a hand around the back of Corey’s neck, pulling his lips hard against him. He pulled his mouth back with a breath against Corey’s lips. “We’re so connected right now. You’re inside me.”

Corey smiled. “I am.”

“I want you to move again. I want to come while you’re moving in me.”

“Okay,” Corey said. “But I’m not gonna go any deeper or it’ll hurt.”

Angelo nodded, holding his gaze. “Keep looking at me.”

“My favorite thing to do,” Corey said. He eased his cock back, then started penetrating Angelo with short, fast strokes, being careful not to drive himself more than halfway in.

Lips parted, Angelo stared into Corey’s eyes as his fist moved faster up and down his own cock.

“Love fucking you,” Corey said, his balls tightening as he continued to push in and out of Angelo. “Love fucking you, Angelo.”

That was all it took—Angelo let out a deep moan, eyes closing, and his release splashed up between them as his ass tightened around Corey.

Corey reached down and pinched his own cock with his thumb and forefinger just above the base while his climax pushed through the door. He moaned as it shot through him, the top of his cock still buried in Angelo as he flooded the condom. The grip of Angelo’s clenching ass brought him hard, prolonging the sharp pleasure.

Drawing his cock out, Corey rose up and fisted himself fully, stroking out the last spurts of bliss before collapsing onto the mattress beside Angelo.

Angelo’s heavy breathing was audible over the soothing music. Corey wanted to see his face but could barely lift his head, his body relaxed and heavy after the orgasm, strained from holding himself up and trying to control the penetration.

Once he felt like he could move again, Corey got up and went to the bathroom to clean himself up. He returned with a towel for Angelo.

Still lying on his back, Angelo rubbed the towel over himself.

Climbing back into bed, Corey rested on his side, staring at Angelo’s profile.

“So,” Angelo said. “Did you like it?”

Corey broke into giggles, and Angelo laughed with him. “I think I was supposed to ask
you
that, Angelo.”

“I know.” Angelo snickered. “Everything’s backwards.” He turned onto his side and smiled at Corey. “I
liked
it. I came so fucking hard.”

Corey slung his arm over Angelo’s waist. “Me, too. Come here.”

Snuggling into Corey, Angelo rested his head on his shoulder. “Smells like strawberries in here.”

Sighing, Corey squeezed Angelo tight. “I know.”

“Last time it smelled like mangoes. I hope I don’t start getting a boner now when I walk through the produce section at the grocery store.”

“If anyone asks, just tell them you’ve got a banana in your pants.”

Angelo unwrapped himself from Corey’s embrace and propped up on his elbow. “I’m not gonna screw this up, you know.”

Corey smiled, then frowned. “I didn’t suggest you’d screw it up. Why would you say that?”

“Well...when we’re intimate, I get these sort of...feelings from you. It’s not exact, but I can sense things. And it felt like part of you still thinks I’m trouble.”

Corey smiled, shaking his head. “It’s a damn good thing I have no intention of lying to you ever. I’d clearly not get away with it.”

Angelo leaned in and kissed Corey softly. He held his chin and looked into his eyes. “I’m not gonna screw this up. I want it too much. Understand?”

Corey looked into his pale eyes, and nodded. “Okay.”

“I mean it,” he said. “If you’ll allow it, I’d like to make you my priority.”

Corey ran his hand down the length of Angelo’s back. “I’ll allow it. And for the record, you became my priority the minute you told me you were in love with me.”

Angelo grinned. “Yeah?”

“Yeah.”

“Then I’m really glad I told you.”

“It was pretty ballsy.”

“It was a Hail Mary pass.”

“I received it.”

“I’m glad. Can we stop using metaphors now?”

“Absolutely.”

“Good.” Angelo snuggled into Corey, resting his head on the pillow. “You know that thing you did to my ass with your tongue?”

Corey laughed hard. “Oh, we’re moving on to romantic poetry now.”

Snickering, Angelo said, “Well, I liked it.”

“Yeah?”

“Yeah. I want to do that to you sometime.”

“I’ll allow that.”

“Good.” Angelo sighed. “I’m tired.”

Corey stroked his hair. “Go to sleep.”

As he listened to Angelo’s breathing grow slow and steady, he rolled onto his back and looked up at the ceiling, letting the soothing meditation music relax his body.

All his instincts told him this was right, and that Angelo was telling the truth about not wanting to screw it up. He decided to trust him. Things between them may have started out upside down and backwards, but as much as they joked about that, it didn’t feel backwards. Not anymore.

Corey couldn’t help feeling like he and Angelo were two pieces of the same puzzle. They might have come from different places in the box, upside down and backwards and camouflaged under a cluster of different colors and shapes.

But in the end, none of that mattered. As long as the pieces fit.

Chapter Twenty-Four

“I’m really glad you’re feeling better,” Angelo said to Doug.

“So am I. And I’m really glad you’re here, Angelo.”

Corey laughed. “So am
I
.”

Angelo grinned over his shoulder at Corey, who sat behind him in a lounge chair on Doug’s front porch. Jairo had just arrived with coffee for them all, and they sat sipping from Styrofoam cups while morning birds chattered in the trees.

Jairo shifted back and forth in the lawn chair he sat in, making it squeak. “Is this thing gonna break out from under me?”

“Hey, easy with that,” Doug said. “Aside from my bed and sofa, that’s all that’s left of my furniture.”

“It’s weird seeing your apartment so empty,” Jairo said. “But I’m looking forward to being invited over to yours and Stewart’s pad soon. Hint, hint.”

“We will have you
all
over soon, I promise,” Doug said. “I want to have an ‘I survived hitting a brick wall with my face’ party.”

Angelo winced. “Can we call it something else?”

“Doug’s developed a dark sense of humor,” Corey said, hugging Angelo from behind.

“Yeah, I’ve developed a lot of bad habits since hanging out with you, Stengel.”

“Hey, who’s that?” Jairo said.

They all looked toward the road as a young woman with a long, auburn side-braid got out of a small pickup truck and headed across the lawn toward them. “Hi!”

Doug stood. “Hi.”

“I’m Denise.” She had a cute, freckled face, smiling as she approached. “I’m going to be moving into the first floor apartment?”

“Oh, right.” Doug sat back down. “I’m the one moving out. Doug, nice to meet you.”

“Nice to meet you.” She frowned. “Oh God, your poor face. What happened?”

Doug chuckled. “Got into a bit of a scuffle. I’m fine.”

“Wow, sorry to hear that. I’ve got some really nice healing tea, I could bring some over. It really does work wonders on the immune system.”

Doug glanced at Corey. “Thanks. I’ve already got some, but thank you.”

“Oh, reason I’m here, duh.” She rolled her eyes and laughed. “Anna said I could go in and measure the garage space. We’ve got two cars but my girlfriend has a motorcycle too, so I just want to see how much room there is.”

“Yeah, sure,” Doug said. “It’s unlocked, you can go on back. Oh, this is Corey and Angelo. And this is Jairo.”

“Hi, Denise,” Jairo said.

“Hi, nice to meet you all. Are you the guys on top?”

Corey raised his hand. “I am. Nice to meet you, neighbor.”

She smiled. “Oh okay, good. Corey is it?”

“Right. I’ll try not to be too obnoxious a neighbor, but I can’t make any promises. I have obnoxious friends.”

“Nice,” Jairo said.

“Hell, that’s okay with me,” Denise said. “I have my own business, so I’m afraid you might be running into my clients coming and going sometimes. I do Reiki and massage.”

Angelo turned and raised his eyebrows at Corey.

Corey smiled. “I think we’re gonna get along just fine, Denise.”

“Me, too. Well, nice to meet you all.”

“You too, Denise,” Doug said. “See you around.”

They were all silent until Denise disappeared around the side of the house, then Jairo smiled and pointed at Doug. “Can you guess what I’m thinking?”

Doug pursed his lips. “Hmm. Let’s see. Alternate Universe Corey—lesbian edition.”

Jairo collapsed into laughter.

“I like her,” Corey said.

“Of course you do,” Doug said. “She’s just like you. Egomaniac.”

“That’s why you like Angelo, too,” Jairo said.

“Me?” Angelo laughed. “I think Corey and I are different enough to make it interesting.”

“You guys fit well together,” Doug said. “So you two will come over, if I have my face survived a brick wall party?”

Angelo grimaced. “Are you sure? I get the distinct impression that Stewart doesn’t like me too much.”

Doug waved a hand at him. “Stewart will like you. Because you’re likable. And because I plan to
tell
him that he will like you. He doesn’t have a choice.” Doug narrowed his bruised eyes, and looked around at everyone, nodding. “I like this. This is good.”

“What’s good?” Corey asked.

Doug pursed his lips. “I don’t know. It just feels like...everything’s in place. Everything’s how it’s supposed to be. I’m happy. You’re happy. Jairo’s happy. No one’s trying to smash my face into a wall.”

Jairo nodded. “It’s always a good day when no one’s trying to smash your face into a wall.”

Angelo laughed. “Well, we’ll be happy to come to your place when invited.” He shifted around and looked at Corey. “Wait. Am I allowed to speak for us like that?” He winced.

Corey smiled. “You mean like we’re a
couple
, Angelo?”

“Yeah, you’re a couple. Couple of loud bastards,” Doug said. “I should probably leave my sound machine for the lesbians.”

“Oh, God.” Angelo hid his face in his hands.

Corey tugged him in. “Shy guy.”

“Angelo,” Jairo said. “You need to stop being so polite and considerate with Corey. He’s tough, he can take a lot of shit.”
