CHAPTER 15

KARA

“So, do you want me to pick you up from work or just meet you at the doctor’s office?” Sly asks me as I take the last sip of my
unfortunately
decaffeinated coffee before I walk out the door for work.

“Huh?” I look back at him still sweaty from his run. His chest is wet, his gym shorts are hanging just right to show his sexy V below his abs.

Breaking me from my sexy ogling, he clears his throat. “You have a doctor’s appointment this afternoon, right?” he says, then bites a banana.

“Yes, but you don’t have to go.” I look back at his body. Man, I’m appreciative of him giving me time, but damn these hormones are running into overdrive.

“I’ve been telling you for a little over a month now, it’s me and you. We are going to take care of this baby.”

Libido is gone now. I’m still getting used to the idea that I pretty much gained a boyfriend and a baby on the same day.

Now, it’s emotions bubbling. He’s so sweet, so I nod. “Okay, I guess just pick me up, we can grab some lunch before my appointment.”

He gives me a chipmunk smile with his mouth full. I laugh and start walking toward the door. “Wait,” he calls out.

I turn around. “Yeah?”

He’s swallowed now and leans down, kissing me on the lips. “See you later, sexy, have a good day.” He pops me on the ass as I go out the door. Great, throbbing between my legs is back.
Ugh!

As I walk into the office, Sloan meets me at my desk. “So, I’ve waited patiently. Lox told me it was none of my business. Now, I’m just guessing that your throwing up is more than the food poisoning you claimed the first day. I’ve caught you more than that day. You need to tell me what the H is going on.”

I shake my head. “Good morning, Sloan. How are you? I think we’ll have a decent day.”

“Yes, yes, yes, all of that, good morning to you, too. Now, tell me. Because if you’re really that sick, we need to have tests run. Unless you have a reason for it.” She gives me her all-knowing look. “Plus, you seem to be touching your stomach a lot more. Not in the ‘I’ve got gas or cramps’ way, either.”

I glance around, looking for Nosy Josie. Sloan catches me and shakes her head, letting me know it’s still just us. “Fine. I wanted to wait a little longer. I have court next week and I was trying to wait until after then but yes, I’m pregnant. We aren’t telling anyone just yet because I’m not that far along.”

She gives me that ‘you’re shitting me’ look she gives Sage when she knows he’s fibbing. “I’m going to take a guess and say that we are
saying
this baby is Sly’s.”

“Yes. Sly is this baby’s father. We are together.” I know I’m coming off defensively.

She nods. “I completely understand and I’m not going to say anything to anyone. Well, except Lox. We don’t keep secrets from each other, but I can threaten sex and he’ll keep his mouth shut.” She pats my shoulder. “I remember what the shock was like. I remember the fear and everything. No one will hear a word from me until you’re ready and if you and Sly say this is his baby, then it’s his baby.” She shrugs. “No arguments from me. I love you and you’ve been such a true friend to me since Sage and I moved here. All the shit I went through with Lucas, you were there for me. I’m going to be here for you.” She hugs me and I wipe a tear from my eye.

“Thanks. Sly is picking me up today, I have a checkup. I just keep waiting for the other shoe to fall. Guys like Sly don’t exist, right?”

She shakes her head, smiling. “Sly has a fighter’s heart. He’ll work his way into yours and something tells me he already has. I know because Lox was the same way.” She turns and walks to her room, getting set up for her day.

~*~*~

“Well, Kara, everything looks great. You’re measuring at eleven weeks, which is about a week over. That’s normal this early, though. Have you had any discomfort, spotting or cramping?”

I shake my head. “No, nothing like that. Just getting over the all-day sickness. I’m not calling it morning sickness because that’s just an ugly lie.”

Dr. Coleman laughs. “I understand. My wife said something similar as she threatened a part of my body that’s vital to the baby making process.”

Sly and I both laugh. “I’m glad to know I wasn’t the only one thinking that. I just kept throwing up all damn day. I’m doing better now, though.”

“Good. Now, do you have any questions?”

I shake my head. “None right now.”

He nods. “All right, well keep taking care of yourself, take your vitamins and try to get plenty of rest.”

“Anything I can do, Doc?” Sly asks, standing up.

“Just be supportive. Make sure she’s eating well, since you’re a fighter I’m sure you have a pretty good diet.” Dr. Coleman puts his hand on Sly’s shoulder. “I saw you fight last year, hell of a job, son. Now you have a twin brother, right?” Sly nods. “You two and that other boy are a hell of a trio to represent your gym.”

Sly smiles and nods. “Yes, sir. Now don’t count just the three of us, we have an up and comer. His name is Clay Gibbs, he’s a good kid. Gonna be a hell of a contender.”

“I heard you guys got a contract with Bellator in the works.”

Sly looks so proud. “Yes, sir. Great things are coming.”

I’m just standing there because at this point, the appointment isn’t about me anymore. I can’t say I’m completely upset about it. I don’t like being the center of attention.

Dr. Coleman looks back at me. “Oh I’m sorry, Kara. You guys are doing a good job. Just set up for a month to come back.”

I smile. “It’s quite all right, Dr. Coleman. I know he’s a little bit of an attention hog.” I bump Sly with my shoulder.

Sly pulls me in up under his arm. “I’ll make sure you get some good seats to our next fight. We have a pretty big one coming up in a few weeks.”

Dr. Coleman smiles. “That would be great. Thanks. You two have a great weekend.”

I make my appointment and as we walk out, Sly takes my hand in his. Small gestures like that make my heart flutter and the spot between my thighs throb. “I’m ready to go home. Are you?”

Sly shrugs. “Yeah, I guess. Don’t we need to get your car?”

“No. We can, uh, get it later. I have something I need to do at home.”

“O-kay,” he says questioningly.

I try to get my mind off the throbbing between my legs. It wouldn’t be very motherly-like for me to say pull this car over and fuck me right now. “So, I think you and my OBGYN are in love.”

“He’s a cool guy. I really like him,” Sly says casually. “Are you okay? You’re acting a little strange and you have this look on your face.”

“I’m fine,” I blurt out.

“Just checking,” he says cautiously.

CHAPTER 16

SLY

She seems like she has something on her mind. I hope I didn’t piss her off with her doc being a fan. Shit. She’s just warming up to the idea of us being a couple and I go and do something stupid.

Maybe if I talk about food she’ll be happy. “So, how do you and the baby feel about Mexican tonight for supper?”

She nods. “Sounds good. Are we ordering take-out or making it ourselves?”

“Either way. I think we have the stuff for fajitas,” I say as I pull in the driveway.

She lets out a big breath. “Okay, we’ll figure it out later. Let’s get inside.”

Up. Down. Up. Down. I’m not sure what in the hell is going on.

As soon as we walk in the door, she slams it shut and calls out, “Huck?”

“He’s with Lox.”

She drops her stuff. “Good.” She shoves me into the wall. “I need you. Now.” She starts fiddling with my belt. “I’ve been dying for the past half hour.”

She drops to her knees and takes my cock in her mouth. She licks and sucks for just a minute and then stands up. “Okay, I need you to fuck me now.”

Holy shit, this is awesome. I pull her scrub top over her head and snatch her pants down. As she kicks them and her shoes off, I reach for her bra. “Are your tits still sore?”

“Just be easy.”

I quickly kick off my pants and shoes as she runs down the hall to her room. I pull my shirt over my head and we fall onto her bed. I kiss her and rub the head of my dick against her soaking wet pussy. “Jesus, babe. You should have stopped me on the way home.”

“Oh yeah, that would be a mother of the year moment. Now, less talking, more sex.”

Carefully, I slide my dick inside of her, trying to be gentle. We haven’t had sex since she found out she was pregnant. This is something I didn’t think to ask the doctor about.

Suddenly, she flips us so she’s on top and slams down on top of me. “Fuck.” She starts riding me hard.

“Baby, be careful.”

She’s panting, “I need to be fucked right now. The books say this is normal.” She rides harder, faster. “Oh God! Oh God! Holy shiiiiiiit!”

I start moving with her, thrusting up into her. I feel her tighten around me and I’m about to go off like fucking Ole’ Faithful. I swear, her pussy is like a vice. I slam into her three more times before I completely blow. “Fuck, baby.”

She collapses on top of me. “Oh my God. That was just, wow.”

“Maybe I need to read those pregnancy books you’ve been telling me about. Is that going to happen often? Because I’m a very willing participant.”

She kisses my chest. “I don’t know what came over me today. My crotch started throbbing before I left for work this morning. I couldn’t get my mind off of it at work, but then as we left the doctor’s office and you held my hand…it’s just that simple, my panties were drenched and I needed your dick.” She grins. “I don’t think I’ve ever been that horny in my life.”

I motion my hands down my body. “Well, I’m at your service, ma’am.”

“You are truly one of a kind, Mr. Webb.” She stands up. “I’m going to get a shower.” She starts walking toward the door and looks back over her shoulder. “Care to join me?”

I jump up from the bed, getting tangled up in the sheets. She laughs as I follow her to the bathroom.

I’m getting a copy of that damn book tomorrow.

~*~*~

Before I know it, it’s time for the hearing against Drake. We all made it a point to plan to be there for Kara. Even my hard-assed brother.

“Look, all I’m saying is slide the chain on the front door the next time you two porn stars are going at it in the kitchen. Please,” my brother says as we are on our way to the courthouse.

Kara laughs, “Sorry, Huck. It’s my damn hormones, I’m needy.”

“Don’t worry, I’m sure my brother was a willing participant.” He rolls his eyes.

I put my hand on my chest. “I was taken advantage of. I was in a vulnerable state and she jumped me, right there when I was dicing tomatoes for the salad.”

“Yeah, I’m sure you were sooo vulnerable.”

“Yes, I was. Then I realized how tense she was about today and decided to take the edge off. You know, by helping out.” I chuckle.

Kara slaps me on the arm. “I promise, Huck, we’ll be a little more respectful.”

He looks over at us. “So who else knows about this baby so far?”

Kara seems a little uneasy. “You two, Sloan and Lox. I’m going to tell my mom and sister this weekend, then I’ll tell Doc next week. I wasn’t going to tell Sloan, but she kind of guessed it and I told her she could tell Lox.” She shrugs, “They don’t keep secrets from each other, so it was only fair. Plus, she threatened to cut him off if he said anything.”

Huck and I both give a loud snort. Looking at her, I say, “Well, it must’ve worked because he hasn’t even said anything to me.”

We laugh and make small talk the rest of the way to the hearing, trying to take her mind off of the situation. As we get out, she looks at me with a mixture of shear panic and stormy tears. I pull her into my arms, “Baby, it’s going to be okay. He’ll be guarded and you’ll have an entire damn gym in there, plus a few cops.”

She looks at me. “What do you mean?”

“Well, Huck and me. Lox, Marco and Gibbs.”

I feel the tears on my shirt from her crying. “I love you, Sly.”
She loves me!

I grab her face on both sides, making her look up at me, then I kiss her long and hard. Our tongues tangle with each other. I pull back from her and whisper in her ear, “I love you, too, baby.” She smiles and I lace my fingers with hers. “Now, let’s go kick dipshit’s ass in court.”

“Okay.”

“Just stay relaxed and count like Robin talked to you about. Okay?” I say into her hair.

“She’s coming today, too. They have her on the witness list. Whether they’ll call her, I don’t know,” she says, leaning her head on my shoulder as we walk.

As we walk into the courthouse, we’re greeted by her family and all of our friends.

At the end of the hall, there is a girl with dark hair staring at us. I know her from somewhere, I can’t place her though. Was she one of the many one night stands I’ve had? No, I don’t forget a face.

The State’s attorney steps into the hall and starts to explain how the day will go. I can’t be in the courtroom because I have to testify, so do Sloan, Lox, Huck, her mother, her sister, Jade, and Dr. Beck. So Gibbs, Marco and Elizabeth are going to stay close to her in the courtroom. I notice the dark-haired girl talking to the defense attorney.

Where do I know that damn girl from?

This is fucking crazy.
There is something about her, something odd, but familiar.

I’ll try to talk to Huck and Lox after today is over and figure it out.

I notice her and Elizabeth make eye contact. The girl dips into the courtroom before Elizabeth can say anything.

I try to stop Elizabeth, but the bailiff in the hall tells me to take a seat.
