Chapter 8

Ice landed on Oakland soil and felt right at home again. He knew he messed up when he called Natasha to come pick him up from the airport. Natasha was his ex girlfriend that was like his main chick. They had a complicated relationship since they had so much history but they understood what it was. In Ice’s mind she was his ex but he never actually called quits with her. Natasha knew how Ice was and the games he loved to play. She was well aware that he was a hoe. He had her heart but she couldn’t help who she loved.

Ice walked outside and saw her pink Range Rover he had given her as a gift a few years back. Natasha was 5’6”, she had wide hips, her breasts weren’t gigantic but it was enough to fit her thick frame, and her skin was a smooth complexion of Hershey’s chocolate.

“Wassup Tasha?” Ice asked when he opened the car door.

“Hi fake ass,” Natasha said calling him the name that she always called him.

“Man here we go,” Ice said sitting back as Natasha drove off already annoyed.

“Here we go nothing Ice I don’t really have anything to say this time.”

“Man you always got something to say so just say it.”

Ice and Natasha used to roll heavy together. She was always his main girl and even though Natasha never treated him bad or cheated on him he just fell off from loving her. She still had a big spot in his heart but he wasn’t in love with her anymore. Natasha was a dope girl but he felt like her damaged her too much to still want to be with her. He made it clear to her that he had love for her and she’ll always be in his heart but he couldn’t be faithful to her.

“I swear I’m good Ice I don’t wanna argue with you today,” Natasha said but she was cut off when his phone rung. Ice saw it was Kaylen calling but he answered it anyways. He didn’t feel like he had anything to hide because Natasha wasn’t his woman anymore.

“Wassup?” Ice asked when he answered the phone.

“How was your flight?” Kaylen asked.

“It was straight I just landed too.”

“I was just calling to check on you.”

Natasha knew her mind had to be tripping out on her because it couldn’t be a woman on the other end of the phone. She listened closely and it was indeed a woman on the phone. That’s why she couldn’t fuck with Ice like that because he always had another woman and didn’t care about being disrespectful. She had enough of his shit and she wasn’t going to keep letting him walk over her.

“Really Ice that’s a bitch on the phone?” Natasha yelled loudly attempting to snatch away his cellphone.

“Man what the fuck?” Ice yelled as Natasha swerved in and out of lanes on the highway.

“I’m so fucking sick of you and your shit!” she yelled with tears rolling down her cheeks.

For five years she put up with his shit. She was there for Ice from before he started to sell drugs. She was with him when he only had lint in his pockets. At one point they were homeless together and she stuck it out him. Natasha was always his ride or die. Whenever he was down she picked him up and vice versa. Her and Ice used to be family at one point. They knew each other since middle school but they didn’t date until they were both adults. Both of their family loved each other and she couldn’t see why he would want to break it up.

Kaylen was in utter shock as she listened to an unknown woman and Ice argued on the phone. It sounded like they were fighting so she hung up the phone. Her feelings were truly hurt. She had bad luck when it came to men. It was like men were only drawn to her to end up hurting her in the end.

Ice wanted to fuck Natasha’s ass up so bad but he couldn’t. He wouldn’t lay a finger on her but anyone else he definitely would. He couldn’t understand what she didn’t understand. He didn’t see a reason for her to be so mad. In his eyes he didn’t do anything wrong for her to be tripping out on him.

“Take the next exit and pull over!” Ice yelled at her.

Natasha was in her feelings and at the moment she didn’t trust herself. She pressed her foot on the gas pedal as hard as she could to make her truck go faster. She had tears rolling down her cheek soaking her blouse.

“I said pull the fuck over!” Ice yelled snatching her right hand off of the steering wheel and squeezing as tight as he could. Natasha winced in pain and did as he said. As soon as she pulled over Ice got out of the truck. He wasn’t fucking with her from this day forth.

“Get back in the car where are you going?” Natasha yelled when he got out of her truck.

“Fuck you Natasha get the fuck away from me before I really beat yo’ ass!” Ice said calling his right hand man Jayceon to pick him up.

“Fuck me up then! I wish you would Zion!” she said calling him by his real name.

Natasha wasn’t giving up. She felt like he was playing her so she wanted him to feel how hurt she felt. She wasn’t going to run him over but she was going to push the car bumper on him lightly so he could get his ass in the car. As soon as she did it the first time Ice turned around with death in his eyes.

“Get in the fucking car!” she yelled again.

Ice still didn’t get in the car so she did it again but this time Ice had enough of her shit. There was only so much he could take and since it was coming from Natasha it pained him to even have to treat her like the rest of bitches he would normally dog out. He turned around and snatched the passenger door open and yanked her from out of the car. It was still in drive and he didn’t give a fuck at this point. All of this shit she was doing was pointless. She knew how much he hated when she made a scene in public. Natasha yelled as he yanked her roughly from out of the car. She was still trying her best to hold on so she kept her foot on the gas pedal. Half of her body was in the car and the other half was being pulled by Ice.

“Get the fuck off of me Ice!” she yelled and pushed the gas pedal hard.

Natasha’s Range Rover was burning rubber through the parking lot. There were a few bystanders watching and some people were probably calling the police by now. Ice didn’t stop as he continued to choke Natasha to stop the truck but she wasn’t stopping. When Ice finally let go of her he fell back on his ass and watched her car take off. For a second it looked like she was going to crash but she caught the wheel fast and sped off from the parking lot.

Ice was furious! He didn’t know what to do with himself at the moment. When he really caught up Natasha he promised he was going to put his foot up her ass. Natasha was speeding on the Oakland streets. She was trying to get the fuck away from Ice. Moments like these is when she wished that she could be with her mom since she was the only one who truly had her back. Her mom lived in Chicago and Natasha only visited her a few times out of the year. The closest person Natasha has, as a mom was Ice’s mom. Natasha knew Ice’s family since she was about twelve and they were her second family.

It took Natasha about twenty minutes to get to Ice’s mom’s house. She didn’t live in the hood so it was a little far. When Natasha pulled up in the driveway she pulled her hair behind her ears to look halfway decent since her and Ice did just get into it. She got out of the car and knocked on the door.

“Hey baby,” Ice’s mom said.

“Hey ma,” Natasha said walking inside.

“What happened to you?” she asked curious.

“Me and your son had a fight.”

“Oh lord between the two of you I will be in the hospital for stress sooner or later.”

“Don’t say that ma!”

“Well come in here and tell me about it. Amber and I are cooking dinner in the kitchen.”

Amber is Ice’s sister and she’s the same age as Natasha. Amber and Natasha are almost like best friends and Ice always hated that. He always had to remind Amber that her loyalty should be with him and not Natasha but it never went that way. Amber was quick to tell Ice how wrong he was while his mom always tried to figure out why he couldn’t just be the man she raised him to be.

“Amberrrrrr,” Natasha cooed walking into the kitchen sitting her purse down on the table.

“Damn who did you get into a fight with and they do they look as bad as you?” Amber asked turning around from the pot to focus her attention on Natasha.

“I am so done with your brother and this time I’m serious,” Natasha said for the hundredth time.

“Girl bye you’re done with him every week,” Amber said waving her off.

“No this time I’m for real. I swear he doesn’t love me anymore. Once upon a time that man loved me and he was the only man that I ever loved. Even though I still love him so much I am done with his ass. He think that it’s okay for him to run around in the streets with these girls then come back to me whenever he wants.”

“Now Natasha I thought Zi said you two weren’t together anymore,” his mom said.

“I don’t take anything he says serious. He knows where home is at.”

“Come here and help me peel this corn,” his mom said giving her a few corn to peel then she continued to talk, “Zion is my son but he’s also a grown ass man. We can’t make up for his mistakes. Baby you are my daughter no matter what Zion says and just because of that you will always be on my good side. It’s time for you to let him go. You come over here every other week crying over his black ass.”

“I know ma it’s just that I really love him. I’ve always thought that we would be married by now and ever since the miscarriage he hasn’t been right,” Natasha started to cry.

“Now you know the only reason you lost my grandbaby is because you was crying and chasing after his ass to come home all of the time. I need you to love yourself more and to take care of you. I tell this to Amber all of the time and I will tell you. You’re twenty-four years old and God doesn’t make any mistakes. If he wanted you and Zion to be together like how you wanted it to happen then it would have happened. Love isn’t supposed to hurt baby. You’re too beautiful to be crying and stressing over a man. Let it go and give it to God,” she said preaching something into Natasha’s life that she needed to hear.

“You’re right ma,” Natasha said in the midst of her tears.

Chapter 9

The first twenty-four hours were bad for Kaylen because Ice called every other minute. She never answered any of his phone calls because she didn’t need to. She was so willing to give them a try then the true him came out. In a way she was happy that he was exposed before they went any further.

Kaylen was in bed trying to enjoy the remainder of her night as she caught up on her ratchet television shows but her phone kept ringing off of the hook. She didn’t recognize the number who was calling. She let the call go to voicemail then she went back to watching her show. Not even a full minute later her phone rang again with the same caller.

“Who is this?” Kaylen asked when she answered.

“Who is this?” the unknown woman asked.

“Bitch you’re calling my phone what the fuck do you want?” Kaylen asked sitting up on the bed.

“Bitch I’m not the one and you don’t want it with me. I called to see if you’re the one who’s talking to Ice,” the woman said.

“Bitch mind your motherfucking business you’re calling my phone and want to be disrespectful?”

“Look I know I came off wrong so I apologize. I just wanted to know who you are to Ice?”

“Who are you?” Kaylen asked for the last time.

“Natasha.”

“Well Natasha I am nothing to Ice and since you’re calling my phone you must be his woman.”

“No I was his woman. Aren’t you the same girl he was on the phone with yesterday when he came back home?” Natasha asked.

Natasha was a little crazy when it came to Ice. She knew all of the tricks and games to find out information she needed on him when he didn’t want to tell her the truth. Last night she logged on to his Verizon account and checked his call log from yesterday to see who the caller was. He had seen that Ice and Kaylen were talking for a very long time and she wanted answers.

“Yes so you’re the one who was beating his ass yesterday right?” Kaylen said putting two and two together.

“Yes that would be me,” Natasha said slightly giggling.

“So what is it that you’re calling my phone for? If you’re looking for your man I don’t have him so keep on looking.”

“I’m not looking for him you can have him. I am calling because woman to woman I wanted to talk to you. I know that I’m not going to get the answers I want from Ice so I have to ask you.”

“What can I help you with?”

“How do you know Ice?”

“Through my brothers.”

“How long have you known him?”

“A year and a half.”

“Wow so you guys have been fucking around for that long?” Natasha said lost for words.

“We have never fucked. Ice was cool. He’s been there for me at some tough times when I needed him to be there. We just came back from a vacation last weekend and I’m just finding out he had a girl back home.”

“A vacation? Wow Ice ain’t shit,” Natasha said feeling the tears well up in her eyes.

“Yes we were in Cabo with my family this weekend but who are you to him?” Kaylen asked. She knew she was being a little extra giving Natasha extra information that she didn’t need to know but she didn’t care.

“I don’t even know who I am to him anymore,” she sighed.

Kaylen and Natasha continued to talk on the phone for over an hour. Surprisingly Kaylen didn’t mind but she did get a clear understanding of their relationship. From what she heard they weren’t in a relationship she was just an ex who was still in love. Kaylen out of all people knew and understood where Natasha was coming from. She had her fair share of relationships to know that these niggas aren’t shit.

Ice didn’t lie to Kaylen at all. He said he didn’t have a girl and he didn’t. The only thing he didn’t tell Kaylen was that his ex was still in his life heavily. He felt like that wasn’t something he should have told her since they were trying to figure out if they were going to be together or not. Kaylen knows that if she still gives Ice a try that Natasha will be around.

When you’ve been with someone for years you can’t break that bond. Even though Natasha and Ice weren’t together for a long time they have so much history together. They are still family in a lot of ways even though Ice was through with Natasha for the way she acted the day before.
