MAD
A RIFT INTHE CREW
When I made it to my house I parked the truck in the driveway and looked at the house. Today was a long day and all I wanted to do was step to Glitter about this dude and get in bed. Before getting out, I saw a car I recognized in the driveway. But what the fuck was this nigga doing at my crib? I didn’t deal with him on a personal level and outside of talking to him at school; we didn’t have too much to say to each other.
When I walked into the living room, I saw my crew sitting on the sofa and floor. “Who car is that in the driveway?” I asked interrupting their play on Nintendo.
“Baaaaaaaabbbbby,” Glitter said running to kiss me. “Where you been?”
I pushed her away because we still had new beef to settle and I needed to know why her ex was calling her. “Fuck that…go put some ice in my shit.” I said handing her the bag of Henny. Ever since Rocket kept it real with me I decided to change some shit up when it came to dealing with bitches. I can’t believe I played myself by going over her house begging and shit. Never again.
She took the bag from me. “Did I do something wrong?”
“Do what the fuck I asked.” I said pushing her toward the kitchen.
My crew stood up seeing the irritation on my face. “What’s that smell?” Wokie asked.
I took my vomit covered shirt off and just kept on my white t-shirt under it. Then I looked around trying to spot the nigga I knew was somewhere in my house. “Fuck all that. Is Nook in my house?”
All of them looked at the floor and then at me. “He had some smoke, so I thought it would be cool to invite him over.” Kid said. “I mean, we were broke and ain’t have no money.”
“Yeah, and I gave you all I had the other day when you was going to take Glitter out.” Wokie added.
“So you let this nigga in my house? When you know his brother Mark wanna fuck my girl.”
Or had fucked my girl? Again? I thought.
“Mad, he cool. He ain’t even like that. For real.”
“Where the nigga at now?”
They all looked at each other and Sugar said, “Downstairs.” I took a step closer to them and said, “Downstairs doing what?”
Judging by the look on their faces I knew what was up. So I broke to the basement. When I was at the bottom of the steps, I saw that this nigga untied Harmony and was fucking her on the floor.
“Fuck is you doing here, Nook?” I paused. “That’s my mothafuckin’ moms.”
He jumped up and said, “Nothing…uh, they said it was cool.”
“Nigga get the fuck up the steps before I break your jaw!” He looked like he wanted to challenge me. “Or call the police.”
He took one last look at Harmony and then at me before running up the stairs. When he was gone I put Harmony back in the chair. She had a blank look on her face, almost like nothing else mattered anymore. I had that look before a couple of times while living with her. When I had her tied back up, I said, “They feed you?”
“Yes.” She said flatly.
I took a seat in front of her. “You know this is all your fault right?”
“Yes.”
“So now all you gonna do is keep saying yes?”
“When are you going to kill me? I want to get life over with.”
“I’m not done with you yet.”
“But I wish you would be. If you hate me so much, why won’t you just kill me instead of letting your friends fuck me for free!”
“You want me to charge?” I smirked. “Figures.”
“I want to die.”
I don’t know why I didn’t just kill her, especially after this Nook shit because if she got away, I knew she was going to call the police. Part of me wondered if I could even do it. I mean, torturing her was easy. Almost as easy as talking, after all she did it to me for most of my life. But now that I’d have to really kill her, I didn’t know if I could follow through. Or maybe I could…and then runaway to live in Texas. In the place Rocket told me about.
“I’ll kill you when I’m ready.” I said. Then I looked down at the floor. “But…uh…I gotta ask you something.”
“What, Mad?”
“Tell me about Kali. Like…who is he really?”
In a real dry tone she said, “What do you mean, Mad?”
“You heard me! Like…why is he beefing with Jace? Jayden’s father.”
An interested look covered her face. “Did something happen?”
Not being able to talk to anybody else about what happened earlier I said, “Yeah…like twenty niggas tried to kill him today. They surrounded the car and everything.”
“You were with him?”
“Yeah…he been back here for a while now.”
She shook her head. “I can’t believe that nigga still in my house. Like he live here or something.”
“He gone now.” I frowned. “Answer the question, though. Why did they try to kill him?”
“So they weren’t successful? In killing him?”
“No.”
“How come?”
Irritated I said, “I don’t know, but I think it had something to do with me. It was like, the dude Jace didn’t want to kill him with me in the car.”
“Figures, Jace was always soft.” She shook her head. “He should’ve blown his face off. Now all he did was piss Kali off which will make shit worse. I knew that nigga was part weak the moment I laid eyes on him.”
This bitch went on a rant. “What kind of man is Kali? Like really?”
“He’s dangerous and careless. He acts off of emotions and often without thinking straight.” Then she smiled. “Just…like…you.”
I was angry. “Fuck is that supposed to mean?”
“Look at you, and what you’re doing to me.” She paused. “You’ve had me tied in a chair naked for days while your friends rape me all because you’re angry, Madjesty. I mean really! How sane is that shit? Huh?”
I stood up and stole her in the face. “You too stupid to know anything about me, bitch!”
I grabbed the camera and moved for the stairs when she started laughing. “The thing is I’m not stupid. I know exactly what I’m saying.” She paused. “You’re just like your fucking father. I don’t know how I never saw it before. It’s so clear now.”
“I’ma see how clear shit is when I leave you down here for two days without any food.”
Silence.
I knew that would get to her.
“Please! Please don’t do that.”
“Fuck you!”
